Me being a SOUL TRAIN dancer too, I have immense respect and admiration for THELMA DAVIS. I always viewed her as "Unapologetically Black". She is still incandescent 😁
Thelma looks fabulous. She was definitely a mainstay on the show. So nice to hear her perspective during her time on the show. For me, that was the best of Soul Train.
@@arushilovesmusic thank you so much. Soul Train not only showcased black music and dance for the black viewers, but introduced all of this to other races. Many , other than black, loved the show and influenced dance especially during the disco period. I am a big fan.
I danced on Soul Train for a brief period back in 1981. I had the privilege and honor to dance with the legendary THELMA DAVIS. I will cherish those fond memories for as long as ilive. 👏🏿🌹🎶💃🏿🕺🏾💯❤️
Thelma Davis is absolutely stunning - her style is flawless 😍🤎🙏🏻 .... My parents would often speak of her as being one of their favorite dancers on Soul Train. It's always great to seeing how many of the dancers went on to have numerous opportunities due to their time on the show. And it great to hear Thelma's story and see the evolution of her style and dance on Soul Train. Blessed 🙌🏽
Soul Train made it's mark in History. Everything about Soul Train was groundbreaking. Soul Train line was the 💣 BOMB. To me all the Soul Train dancers were SUPERSTARS !! Even today SOUL TRAIN RULES!! RIP Don Cornelius. I still love Soul Train in 2O24 and beyond. 🎉🎉🎉
Oh my goodness, this is an absolutely beautiful documentary/story about Thelma Davis. I would see her all the time on the show, and she was one of my favorites, along with Patricia Davis, and Damita Jo Freemen. It's so good to see her looking so wonderful. She has aged lovely. It's great to find out that Thelma's dancing on Soul Train allowed her to be recognize by all the A-lister's celebrities, and work overseas in Japan. Wow! What a fantastic story!
I am always going to be grateful for these sweet memories down memory lane. I don’t care what anyone says, it was a great time to be a kid back then. Today’s world can’t compare. She looks beautiful & I remember her as well as many of the other dancers. Soul Train was the family staple for us kids on a Saturday afternoon to watch together.
What i loved about "Soul Train" was that a Black man from out of Chitown brought dancers from all over the country. Fred Berry was originally from St Louis. Dancers, even during the early 70s, were from different States. What I like about UA-cam is that they've gave us the opportunity to see the individual dancers story. Without it. Many if us wouldn't have known the success of the dancers. I was 3 years old when the shiw moved from Chicago to Los Angeles. The transition to Los Angeles was a smart move. A move that gave us exposure to our favorite music singers and bands. There will never be another show like it. Especially the 1970s. It was just different. And every one of those female singers in their prime was fine, sexy and talented. Time sure does fly by. I'm now 56, going on 57. Last. My mother went to school with Al Green. She could've been on that show. She was an excellent dancer back in the day.
I love this! Thelma is amazing. Not only did she share her experience, a through history of the show but also included the African American experience at the time. Exceptional. Wishing her peace and many blessings.
Thelma was and still is so beautiful!!! Her hair and outfits were FLY. And, to learn she danced in the Thriller video amongst others only adds the accent to her creative talents. ⭐
Omg goodness, i was 7 years old in 1971 and loved Thelma's dancing every Saturday. My siblings and i would gather in the living room waiting for soul train to come on on south side of Chicago
Soul Train made me and my friends soooooo proud to be Black at a time when we were just breaking through to real access and equity in these United States of America. Thank you, Beautiful Thelma, for giving us a behind-the-scenes view of life on Soul Train!
I loved the breakdown of the different LA areas of high school dancers and styles. Salute to you, Thelma Davis, for telling your soul train origin and your journey it took you on.

Growing up in the 70s watching soul train I can remember all of the black own hair and makeup products like poisoner lipstcks and Afro sheen and ultra sheen hair food and gentle treatment relaxer that came on tv during the soul train hour I learn how to do all of the dances from the show and at 52 I can still do some of the dances from the show

A new episode,I'm so happy. LOL. So glad Thelma got a dancing gig in Osaka,Japan, that must have been so much fun,8 yrs working over-seas. She seems like such a charming and trustful person,I don't get to meet people like this very often.Don Cornelius was such a well spoken, mature, well dressed and intelligent man, plus he was a business owner back in the 70s,80s,etc,etc, ( he owned the Soul Train lock, stock and barrel ) another good segment too.

It is so interesting to here each dancers story of their childhood and as a dancers on Soul Train. I love her part about the many dancers that came from many different schools and neighborhoods. That brought the diversity style of dances to Soul Train. And also the many styles of fashion. I would get a lot of my fashion styles from the show. Her style of dressing was more like mines and my sister. We were not allowed to wear hot pants outside of our house. I too also had a strict upbringing and father. Her story about going overseas was very enlightening and interesting. Glad she received a very warm welcoming.
