Ok Jeffery! As a Shalamar fan which Shalamar means light! You know that condoning Sodomy is not of light and the fashion is based off emasculation of one particular male! Message from Yahawah

@@timlewis8285 , Dear brother Tim , May i respond to you with the upmost respect . If you're really committed to judging and addressing sodomy in this world while evoking the Hebrew name of the creator , it may behoove you to start with the head of the Christian religion, " The Catholic Church "!! They are currently dealing with multiple child molestation cases stretching around the globe , going back hundreds of years . So if you're still subscribing to a religion that was manipulated by the Greeks and Romans who were openly homosexual and perverted , then perhaps , .... maybe perhaps you might want to reconsider your own position . And i freely advise you this in the spirit of brotherhood and compassion, not trying to be disrespectful . Do i condone homosexuality ? Basically its none of my business what transpires between two consenting adults , unless it targets children. And if your Yaweh is truly going to judge and persecute souls for being homosexual , then our judgement of them seems pretty futile . Thats not my crusade or primary focus in life . May you find solace in your quest for redemption . Stay Blessed 🙏💕

@@sha1841 The beginning of time?!? Ha! You’re funny! Fashion designer and personal stylist are two different things. Personal stylist like Misa Hylton really popularized it in the 80s and 90s. Please do your research on when personal stylist became a job/career that people actually got paid for. Styling isn’t about making the clothes(although some stylist do). It’s about putting a look together with other designers clothing, shopping for the client, dressing them from head to toe, creating treatments for music video shoots, and then some.

@@stephanied1028 Don’t presume to know the level or degree of my intellect. I’m very well aware of the difference between a fashion designer & Personal Stylist. I NEVER said they were the same so the time & energy you wasted trying to educate me or anyone else for that matter was futile at best.
In regards my “beginning of time statement” 🗣 The Bible speaks of clothing. You think kings didn’t have “stylists”?
Our African ancestors used animal remains to create jewelry & apparel. I can’t imagine everyone in the village being a crafter or designer but I can imagine, even then, there being a “stylist” showing them how to elevate their aesthetic. Just because the term “Personal Stylist” wasn’t mainstream until recent history doesn’t mean the role itself didn’t exist.

Wow, from the door getting shut in his face after his own cousin and friend went in to Soul Train, to being nearly the sole designer for the show and reintroduced to everyone by the same dude who shut that door, to being a back up singer on a dope 80's classic, wearing his own creation, to suiting up everybody in that epic MC Hammer performance.....got damn what a journey and moments that must have been.

Tamechi actually has a music video on UA-cam called “the poak chop”......where I was introduced to him initially and seeing this just certified him as legend 🏆✅💫.... I played that video endlessly, introducing it to all my friends. We even called a number linked to one of the videos back in the day; he actually answered and was the most pleasant, sweetest person alive. Dope❤️🔥

First off I would like to thank you for sharing this. I would also like to say a job well done. Great editing and documentation of black history, black queer history and afro diasporic history- showing how we do. All these people on Soul Train really helped each other out and showed true entrepreneurship and guts. I watched the show from back in the 70's and I knew i was different then as a child and now I see why i loved the show. With Tamechi's testimony here documented I am grateful. He is truly an inspiring sista. In many instances black folks tried to erase us black queer folks. But now is the time to embrace your sistas and bruvs. Peace

Never knew these facts. This was a great history lesson. Knew the fabulous clothes had to originate somewhere. He had the eye for what the dancers needed to wear and the direction the fashion needed to go in.. but he is correct, later in the yrs. Fashion kind of went out the window .. I enjoyed this interview so much. This what we the fans of the show needed... Glad he was persistent and kept at it. His hard work paid off because he knew where his superior talent layed and he went for it...much love and admiration to him...
