As an experienced Mercedes guy, never mess with the suspension of these cars unless tracking! Leave great alone! The car is awesome and a lot of money goes into r&d to make these cars feel the way they do
Exactly my friend.
True, one inch higher isn't going to hurt the looks.
There would be no video though. lol.
This also applies to big wheels and tires and levels and lifts on trucks.
Yes that’s actually true I made the mistake of doing that on my ML 63 back in the day and it was a game changer but not for the better ruin the whole car and very expensive to bring it back to factory.
Bro just keep the wheels OEM. No need to ruin drivability for aesthetics
Well said.
Lesson ,don't eff with perfection, suspension is tuned best out of the factory
Maybe on high performance cars, but not on a lot of other stuff.
@thorsky2754 I'm sure he was talking about Mike's S65 in particular. I believe aftermarket stuff like that does no good, they're not developed by AMG engineers.
If he doesn't modify, he doesn't have a channel. The same for all automotive youtubers.
Cracked and or bent wheels occur with the factory wheels both 19s and 20s forged or cast. The camber wear issue is from lowering it for sure. Depending on what kind of tires you have the factory setup you get 8k to 20kish miles on the rear. The sport/performance tires will be on the lower side of course and the less performance oriented tires will have more life of course.
Single handedly
keeping the tire business afloat 😂
Yep. Buy a new car for the channel, replace wheels and tires and rinse and repeat
That's why I love your channel mike you tell it like it is
He should just drive around getting speeding tickets because the rest of his content is L A M E
Smaller wheel and bigger tire would look better
Looks like a hood car with these
Low profile tires and PA I so remember that living in NJ 😢 essy to bend those 22s
So with the S 65 when the magic ride activates, it actually puts more pressure down on the wheel and if it sees a pothole, it will put more pressure down and thus will definitely crack a wheel on such low profile rims. If you put it in Sport it will be even worse.
Pittsburgh roads and lowpro tires are terrifying lol. I ditched my 19’s for 18’s after a few too many bursts.
I had 20’s and it was getting ridiculous with the amount of times I was visiting Discount Tires on a monthly basis. I went down to 18’s and haven’t looked back. 👌
Thank you for shared, sorry for the tire luck problem in this edition.Happy New Year
The car looks great, but I think 20” wheels would look better and the tires would be tall enough to save your wheels.
I was tempted to go 22 on my Cadillac, glad I went w/20". These new cars don't exactly have a big cushy ride.
The factory 20s and 19s cracks and bends as well. There isn't any saving of wheels unfortunately.
@@gasolara2002 of course, but smaller wheels equals higher profile tires, which means less force being transferred to the wheels and less chance of the actual wheel hitting the ground when you hit a pot hole, therefore less chance to damage a wheel.
I had low profile tires in high school. Learned my lesson unless you live in a warm weather climate don’t have them. Pothole, and even violent bumps will cost you a lot of money.
Pittsburgh has some of the sh**iest roads in the US
This is a great car! I’ve got an SL63 which also has ABC; I wouldn’t let anyone touch my wheels except my local Mercedes specialist - you need the wheels and ABC setup properly! Not only will you be making the tyres wear badly, you’ll be making the ABC work harder if everything isn’t aligned and setup properly.
Car looks absolutely beautiful. The Red with Chrome makes it look like a million dollars!
Happy Thanksgiving bro, much love to you and your family 🦃
Great video... tough having such low profile tires where you have potholes and crummy roads
You may need some adjustable control arms and/or other suspension components to properly get that alignment in spec. I lowered my 370Z and had to install adjustable lower control arms and toe bolts to get the alignment right. The stock components don’t have enough adjustability to account for the geometry change when dropped
Great content as always Mike ❤
Still faithful follower. Wishing you and your family an incredible 2024 that booms. 2 million subs by summer 👊🏼👊🏼
Love the 65, great wrap and wheels.
Love how that car looks, sick ride.
Love the S65 and what you have done to it, the colour is beautiful 👍
You always have the won't die Danger Ranger as a backup vehicle to your backup vehicle 😂
I always get alignment done when I put tyres on, saves money in the long run
Love the AMG Mikeeeee
I'm convinced, that this is NOT actually a wrap. It looks like a premium, high quality paint job!!
Could be a wrap with clear coat
Just bumped into ur channel went back and looked when you picked this beast up , man it looks completely different some gloss black wheels would make it pop other then that cheers man beautiful car 👍
The stock rims and tires for this vehicle. Perfect. I’ve watched plenty of your videos. 😂
The AMG looks dope 🔥🥂💯
Smaller ø rims, higher tyre sides, better handeling and more comfort.
Looks is one thing, but at the end of the day, its still a car which should be driven, and not only looked at (yeah yeah, i know you drive it, but still these sizes of rims should be a blast from the past when you where i the start 20'ties.. ;-)
Keep up the good content!
Shout out from Denmark, neighbourg to sweden.. 🙂
Mike, your whip is 🔥👏💪😎
This reminds me of when I was 17. Feels like every day I’d be at the tire or wheel repair shop.
Thin sidewalls + wide meats and Pitts roads = caveat emptor
I just bought a w205 and want to lower it. Did you have to install a camber kit to align your old w205?
Auto Vlog Great Video I'm glad you got better Tires for your Absolutely Gorgeous AMG S65 and I hope that TPMS Sensor can be situated and Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you your family and all of your Subscribers
Looks good love the color
Do you not get wires hanging down all over the place to keep the camera running or is it just rechargeable? Maybe show an install
I have the same tires on my RS7, not the most comfy or best in rain, but boy the price is right.
Chicago streets would treat you the same. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Got myself a new cam!
I like the way it looks!!
Any smart person would know to get wheel alignment after you mess with the suspension. After I put lowering springs on my SUV, it went right to the dealership for an alignment. I even aligned my cars when switching out between aftermarket and OEM wheels for the change in seasons..
Mike, this car is definitely not for you… I miss seeing you in the F12, i think that is more your territory and deserve to be back in a high end exotic 🙌🏻
Had similar low profiles on my cls 550
Hated them constantly got flats had to get rid of the car
Mike, your flashing TPMS light on the AMG, is an indication that the tire sensor is either broken, or that the battery in the sensor is dead. Either way, only way to rectify that issue is to get a new tire sensor installed.
I got the 810 front and rear dash cam, great system for the price. Crisp resolution, easy to use $200...
You need adjustable rear control arms for the CL/S Coupe models when lowered. You will have the wear problem until you get the adjustable arms to officially get rid of the extra tire wearing camber. At stock height and configuration, the rear tires don't really last long either. Between 8k miles to 25k miles. You are doing the financially smart thing and sticking with the cheaper all season tire until you dial in the alignment the best you can.
What about the NOS on Danger Ranger?
Oh a happy note your car has never looked soooo fn sick!!!
You should run solid tires Mike lol
Does mercedes us do a service pack like they do in UK you pay for the two services monthly
I’m in Columbus Ohio running a similar setup on my VW Phaeton. 22x9 and 22x10.5. Just went thru similar problem with my lexani tires as well. I had 255/30-22 and 305/25-22 and the front inside tires wore out quickly. I put the proper size tires on being a 265/30-22 and a 315/25-22. Almost the exact same circumference which is needed for my all wheel drive system. I highly recommend these size tires!
Nice! Another Phaeton owner! I am actually running 295/25r22 all around on mine. I got 22x10.5 all around on mine for tire rotation purposes.
Should never put staggered wheels on an all wheel drive car. That's why @gasolara2002 has 10.5s all around.
As r230 owner that was hit in the rear messed up my alignment wide tires wear out like its no tomorrow and the v12 already like torching the tires
I think the car is beautiful. Love the color.
I had an s65,s63 & s550 and problem is that this cars are very heavy. If your going to put 22' low profile tires you need a good quality 3pc wheel.
Agreed - a set of HRE’s would be killer on it
The stock forged 20s and 19s even bend and crack on these. No matter what wheels are on these they will all have cracked or bent wheels in places with not smooth roads forged or not. Barrel replacements and wheel repairs will be just part of the ownership costs.
Majority of shops can’t get an alignment right. They just start jumping like toddlers pointing at the screen “it’s green, it’s green” when you point it out to them that visually the toe is off.
Usually with mercedes you gotta get adjustable camber arms or something for the rear to stop you from eating through tires
You should look up rear camber bushing for the AMG, will get rid of the camber
What color is that wrap?
What Cracker Jack shops are you going to that they don’t align.
We got to get you to 1 000 000 subscribers Mike...
Boston here. Hearing that about we have the tires for euro client's
You have to put a camber kit on it. I have 22s on my s65. It helped my car allot
Wheels look awesome but since I have had abit of bad luck on tyres. I took tyre insurance. Kinda sucks to pay for tyres when they have decent thread left. Now I want a pickup truck 😅potholes are driving me insane
When you first mention about this mod...lowering the car...I told you do not do it! That's a very sophisticated suspension system and will suffer from those kind of mods! The car looked amazing the way it was!
Hey M. AutoVlog, we still INSIST that a low profile carbon fiber spoiler is needed on your '16 S-65 fella' - That "baby bump" on the trunk just ain't cutting it from an appearance standpoint. Get that small but very aesthetically important mod completed. Hope this helps Yo ! 🎯 🔛 💯
Keep ur head up brother 🙂
If you pour Gorilla Glue in the opening it will seal it up.
Bro,I can tell you dig your car!!! What I know is you're gonna upgrade your brakes later!! Shout me out when you do! Awesome Car!!
I wished you had got some nice deep dish 5spoke wheels for the amg
Where did you get the steering wheel?
This country roads deserve to be fixed and protected
Happen to me on my s63 also bubbles in sidewall. had to go down back to 20s with More sidewall. The S class is just too heavy for 22’ n rubber band tires
Man I hope you got paid well for the 3 minute ad for that dash cam
Every time you lower a car an alignment is a must do to save your tires life.
From what I know most the power goes to the rear left same problem with my e class.
Thumbs up 👍 for the das efx!
Yeah you cant take a starship and have the local muffler guy make mods like this. Lowering that car? Probably not the best decision.
Always buy a spare matching wheel and you can change it and go
Need a AMG SL roadster. Would look cool on the channel.
In highschool back in 1997, my Acura integra had the same issue. Keep your cars stock for best tire wear bruh
Man, just wait until he sees what happens in the next video.👀
Miss the F12 dayzzzz
Too much wheel not enough tire looks like you’re running bands.
But I did hear you say new wheels in the spring, hopefully you go with 18’s or something to have some more sidewall.
I hate tyre issues, and they all seem to come at once. It's just part of our lives! I know I can't wait for the next gen tyres to come out where punctures are impossible. Check out the info from Michelin.
As long as we don't suffer in ride quality. We make mods w/ best intentions but if the car isn't enjoyable to drive you're not going to drive it much.
I like the previous rims better.
You just need to go to the right company, that knows what they're doing. California has a few shops that deal with those cars on a regular
Many drivers pull out in front of nice vehicles because they know you don’t want to hit them. Driving a junker you remove that problem 😂
When you originally did the mod, at least half of the comments said it was a mistake. You chose an amazing car. Maybe keep it a little more stock.
For his area it would be the way to go. I love the look but if the car wasn't quite so low it would be more prudent for those roads. Something tells me he's not changing that look.
He needs content so he has to do mods
Good point. And he is a great guy. I just like that car more stock. @@Christoph-sd3zi
I hate to say michelins Pilots don't last if you get 15k miles with them on any car you're doing good. any camber you'll be lucky to get 5k miles
yeah they get chewed up
Just need a TPMS scan tool and cord and perform a relearn on the AMG, should kill the light.
What happened to your Audi fuel cap?
Mina bakdäck på min CL 63:a blir också väldigt nött på insidan.
Hey Mike.... I have been subscribed and following you for years now..... The S65 AMG is a lovely car, make no mistake. I still feel that you need something more exciting to make content with, like for example the F12. I feel that a BMW M5 Comp, would be a great addition to the channel. I think that you can create a lot more content with the F80 M5 Comp, and not be so limited with performance mods, etc... Keep up the good work. 👌🏽👍🏽
Jokes aside must be tyre-ing lol 😂
Need a lifted truck again back on the channel
Yes I agree
Amen brotha❤❤❤❤
I dont want to say i told u so but i knew it would happen although it looks awesome u need to change those
I miss the r8... Have u thought of a monster---lifted r8 with aftermarket wheels and a ram bar? Lol 😂
Ouch
Sick
Someone please educate me, so you can change tire width on a wheel? Example going from 225 to 255, is this what he did here?
Yes, he had a little too much stretch. I've got to do the same on my Cadillac but I'm getting good wear on Michelin after new wheels.
