@@AH-mj1rdNah, it’s aged beautifully where design is concerned. As for ownership, as long as you know what to look out for with these cars and do the necessary maintenance, these should be aptly reliable.
This W222 S Class generation was the best one ever made~ The sedan was gorgeous and perfect, but the coupe takes it to another level with styling and presence. It's such a timeless design that has aged really well, and I think after this S Class, the new one just is downhill in terms of styling for me. Tech has definitely been elevated, but this still proves that you can mix tech and functionality together still. The interior of this S Class was perfect. Now when you get an AMG S Class, then you're definitely one of few people in the world to be in an exclusive group, especially when you get this S65. That 6.0L V12 engine just sounds amazing at startup, when you rev it out, and this is a torque monster. 621 HP and 738 lb-ft of torque is no slouch even in today's modern era of cars. This car proved what AMG was able to do in terms of engine technology, and I'm sad that this car is no longer made, along with the even more crazy G65. I think really the only downside, and just a bit, is the 7-speed automatic, and that it's RWD. It would have been nice if there was AWD like the S63, and if it had the 9-speed MCT like the S63, but there's something so old-school and different about this S65 with those two things, that only hinder it a smidge. Overall, perfect car.
Then you need to replace the spark plugs for the price of a Honda civic. You need to service it for the price of a brand new iPhone, you need new tyres for… you get the picture
I own the W220 S65 sedan, the first gen of Biturbo V12 with just 38500 miles, and I must say that I would never trade it with any V8, nor the W221, W222 and W223! It's in its own league! And its design is still MB and not some luxury version of a Korean brand!
@@R2D2arthurge it needed a couple things like the massage seats were not working. It was just a broken airline behind the driver seat. The ABC suspension needed a new driver front strut. I did all the work myself.
Love the S65 coupe but still will stick with my S63 coupe because AWD which is great for winter!🥶 I think doesn’t mater because the design is ageless! Best Mercedes design coupe ever made by Mercedes. 😊
I was shockingly surprised you were more pumped then me about this black beauty 😻 Made the video that much more enjoyable! Always a nice surprise to see your sweet selection of sweet whips bruh 😜
So timeless, and ages like fine wine. It's the classiest and most gorgeous S Class ever, and I think most people would agree. It still has such a presence whether it's the coupe or the sedan. The W222 was really ahead of its time and just perfection in terms of interior and design.
lets not forget, the interior is absolutely gorgeous, the car has black interior which brings it down a bit, but that car and year is the best merc interior to date in my opinion
Crazy! I have the 2007 S65 (RENNtech). I see a big difference in the S-Class over the years. My car has a limo feeling with the rear seats, and much extended in the foot-room.
I have seen several base S550s around where I am, and very few S63s. I have seen an S65 however, I believe it was the W220. I have not seen a W222 S65, which I would loooove to see.
Stunning car and worth every penny, both 63 or 65 - they both have pros and cons - i would be more prone to the 63 w 4matic but if you‘re more a cruiser then take the 65 it gives you more Boss feeling for sure- cheers pals
Hey man, you are good at this. 2005 CL600 Renntech stage 1 - still putting down bigger numbers than this, but this has some nice gadgets for sure! Enjoy!
Yea the S63 and M5 Comp are in two different worlds, especially the S65 which is comparable to the GTC... 🤔 (relating to past comment) These cars are just so amazing but the depreciation is on another level. Would you say they might keep their value slightly better than before because of the removal of the V12?
Your acceleration comparisons are very academic. That AWD advantage to 60 is eliminated after 60 when the 65's turbos start breathing and traction is no factor. It's a visceral distinction on the interstates at speed. Plus the more established V12 has more headroom for modifications like a plug in RENNtech tune alone for 70hp.
@@peterpenny4673 Mercedes always engineers from the top down. In other words the V12's are the full experience after which the impact steps down every power level. V12's even have their own grade of finer leather upholstery and larger fuel tanks.
@@LawrenceMarkFearon it’s the ultimate machine imo- you seem very knowledgeable on the subject I appreciate the feedback. Now I just need to take it slow and wait for the right deal on the right s65 which is always the hardest part 😂
And NO, the 65 is the only coupe with Swarovski headlights standard. its fully kitted out and only luxury options are the fridge and magic sky roof. the facelift has the additional airscarf. If you actually press the throttle down to the kickdown button it'l rev around 7000rpm. With regards to the maybach if you look at the cabrio 65, there is no difference between the 65 and the maybach... only badges and custom luggage. options and features are the same.
I much much rather have that Mustang you just sold than this. That Mustang had soul and what noise and manual. My Mustang GT 2014 is not as good as that Mustang but I would never sell my deep impact blue manual for this. I put 4.10 gear ratio amd only comes out on weekends. You should buy your car back.
Stop talking shyt... s63 will not beat the 65... it only wins 0-60... these cars top out at around 200mph so Go get a 63 and put them on a runway and see what wins. a S65 was never build for 0-60, its built for top end.... 1000Nm torque and more power WILL WIN.
This car age like fine wine 🍷
Agreed
Price will go up in several years.
Just wait a few years down the line, the suspension and advanced body control is going to cost a fortune to maintain...
You mean like milk... Wait till sometime goes wrong

In 2016, This was my dream car! S65 AMG coupe
Still can be your dream car! Just for way less money haha

Much better than the new electric eggs
Agree 100%
Yes exactly what car reviewers should be reviewing, depreciated bargains like this, actually might get this car
Glad you enjoyed it!

Pros & cons of your experience with the car?
I had a '15 S65 AMG Sedan and it was f-ing glorious.
The W222 S class is so gorgeous.
Just bought one of these two months ago and I absolutely love it. mine is a 2015 with 45,000 miles and I paid 59,600 tremendous value
salvage title?
No. Clean title
That’s crazy . A 2017 is 90k

The W222 S class is so gorgeous. Those wheels on the S63 Sedan is one of my dream cars.
Arguably one of the most beautiful modern day big body coupes I've seen.
You're right! I love this design. Another big coupe I loved was the Brooklands from Bentley.
I just picked up a very similar 2016 s65 coupe and absolutely love it! Just something about having the V12. Ride and power delivery are un-matched!

Shoutout to Eddie X real one 💯

Wondering about steering wheel feel vs S63 since this is more front heavy

Absolutely stunning machine. What a Legend! 😍
If only costs like insurance, fuel and service had depreciation as well….
is there a difference with the body between the 55, 63, and 65? other than the badges ofcourse?
Nothing major as far as I know. Just slight fascia and badging changes. same sheetmetal.

Eddie Did you fid the ride better in the s65 with the ABC suspension or in the s63 with airmatic??
I fell in love with this car the moment I watched Saabkyle04's review of it in 2015.
I don't understand the reason of the huge price gap between S65 and S63. If it's the W12 engine, then some of the S63 models also have that.
