I love the fact you show your daughter a lot of useful skills that will help her with employment prospects and her pocketbook. Most people just let their kids finance expensive cars, take it to a mechanic, and get into a lot of debt.
Good job. I miss when my daughter was stiII at home and we worked on vehicles, she was a fast Iearner. She Learned to shoot, and how to ride; she even rode on the schools mounted driII team for 4 years. HoId them close and teach them weII for that time goes by in an instant it seems
Awesome job guys, sure, it's not a pro level but it looks 95% better and sometime, it's just good enough. When ever I do a DIY paint job on my cars I always say that in the worst case, I'll take it to a paint shop.
This is what happened to my wife's 98 XJ. There was a recall but she missed the timeframe to get it fixed. I have been going back and forth with how i want to fix it. Great vid my daughter is my wrench buddy as well. She wants to be a mechanic.🤘🤘🤘
A hood repaint is on my to do list this summer. This video was exactly what I needed. Thanks for the details and links to the products. I really enjoy your videos.
Fun project, looking forward to this sort of stuff with my son, he'll be 13 in a few weeks. Time to start looking for a project Jeep and teaching him how to use tools and fix things.
Got my step kid her first car! Did a lot of research and was able to find her a great civic for 2500 and it really just needs a paint touch up. Thanks for this
My clear coat is peeling very badly on the hood of my 2001 Toyota 4Runner and I really had no clue what to do. I considered getting a professional paint job or attempting to buy a new hood that matches my car. Although after watching your video I think I have what it takes to just do it myself. You made it seem very easy and simple. I’m slightly worried about the amount of sanding but I think after doing some more research I will be fine. Thank you!
Id have gone with more coats of the clear. When you watch people on youtube with their paint booths and their 3 coats, with a spray can its more like 5 or 6 coats you need. But wet sand the clear coat with 1500, then 2000, then 2500, then cut with the cutting compound, then buff with polish and it will look shiny.
Fantastic video. Thank you both for making this. Nice to see the actual work being done. It gives us viewers more confidence to try it ourselves. Liked, subscribed and hit the notification bell.
Looks great and your daughter looks like she had a lot of fun with dad. How is it holding up today? I redid my TJ cowl a few years ago similarly and the clear is starting to bubble in the Texas heat. Thanks!
Great video. One question though. How long did you wait to sand the paint before clear coating. Also, how long do you wait after clear coating to polish with th orbital ?
Hello friend, how are you, I am rebuilding a 4.0 engine, how did the enginetech brand come out? I'm thinking of buying that brand, I saw that you use those parts
Fun project but I’m going to try to repair the coat instead of going the paint route since the paint is in good shape and I’m not down to the prime stage.
@@JeepSolid you should consider getting a spray gun (purple harbor freight gun will work) and paint in the can, should be better bang for your buck vs rattle cans.
Your excessive verbal explanation is patronizing to that poor girl. You literally leave her no room to feel invested or competent in this process on HER vehicle. I hope you don't treat everyone like this (like infants)? You seem like you don't get enough exposure to young people in teaching situations. If you had, you would simplify your instruction and provide guidance, not authoritative directives. And, treat people as if they're intelligent.
Painting is a real hassle. Do you have any idea how many years it takes to get as good as this guy using just spray paint cans? He has to compress all of this knowledge into a short session. If they get this wrong, all of these steps need to be completed again at double the cost in terms of time and materials. This is collectively a high risk and expensive job not including the incredible amount of preparation and cleanup that takes place off camera which we are not privy to.

Nice! 👍🏼 it’s not too hard.

Very nice looking Jeep XJ. Did a great job of painting the hood. You guys are a fantastic team.

Did it turn out ok?
I'd be happy with that job .. so good job
Thanks for sharing the video. It was very informative and creative. Thanks for your service to our country.
Looks way better.

I tell you I would have loved a jeep as my first car! My goodness!

I applaud your effort but you should have wet sanded with 1500 grit before using cutting compound it would shine more and smoother !
Very true

Excellent job, guys!
Great informative video! Going to do this to my 2012 silver Jeep wrangler. Are you still planning on doing the roof?
Dang y’all!! That looks great! You have inspired me to try it!!
Great job! Looks so much better! You're inspiring me to do that to my 01' Cherokee!
Yeah. Not too hard. Just takes some time
Looks better!
47 times better 😁
Love the. Colour, curious to know the paint code, or car details to look up paint code?
Nice Attempt.i would not have done that diagonal layer though.i might have done a vertical and horizontal.nevertheless not bad at all
wow you did a great job .
Thanks!

Well done.
Nice job looks good to me anyway 👍🏾
Glass cleaner because... ammonia. 👍
You had to sand it down before you did the compound to get more of a mirror look.
Nice clean xj
Good job!
Thanks!!
Looks great
Hello friend, how are you, I am rebuilding a 4.0 engine, how did the enginetech brand come out? I'm thinking of buying that brand, I saw that you use those parts
That's awesome!
You used 2 or 3 basecoat spray cans for one panel, right?
Thanks for the video
@JeepSolid How long after you put on those four coats of paint before you did that wet sanding with 1500? Like four hours or a day or...?
Fun project but I’m going to try to repair the coat instead of going the paint route since the paint is in good shape and I’m not down to the prime stage.
Just be super careful sanding. Super easy to sand through the paint.
You need to buy a paint ginger 3M disposable cups for your gun
Let the girl paint! 🙂
Haha! Yeah. She watched this one. We still have to do the roof. She will then 👍🏼

@@QUICKSILENTSCOPE Not when you have to clean up that paint gun and run around town getting product and stand around for it to get mixed.
She is so beautiful
doing this to my red 99
Sulley from monsters inc?
That clear got sucked up by the base coat. Needed about three more coats of clear.
What’s the plan’s for the xj Jeepsolid ?
My daughter is going to be driving it
@@JeepSolid ah right on
@@JeepSolid on my Jeep I have to oil pan off and I’m changing the rear main seal on the 4.0
And by the way I did message you on Facebook and I have pictures on my Jeep and I ordered parts for my Jeep and for my truck
No primer?
No because they didn't sand it down to the Metal it's cheaper this way and you just need to Wax it every 4 Months
You a need experience workar for this work plzz reply me
Primer, sand, base, sand, clear, wet sand and then polishing. But your goal was to not make it worse.
Still looks ‘better’ not perfect, but did the job
Def didn't use enough clear coat
Comedy💪
knock the gloss off.
No gloss at all :(
Great job. Can I date your daughter?
