@@grimakastatik if you want to make the paint last a long time use the 2k clear protective car paint. Same formula and everything that professional use to clear coat cars but it’s just in a can. Warm it up so it lines up very smooth and you’re good. He even said he used 2k clear coat but a lot of people don’t really know that’s 1 of the best clear coats in a can

My dad and a friend of his did high end paint and body on the side in a garage in the late 80’s. Old school garage painting tip. Actually 2 of them. Those tarps are going to increase the amount of dust that gets kicked up. Wet the floors with a hose. No puddles, just wet it. It will attract and contain dust. The other is to open the garage door to a height for the box fans but use 4 of them with cardboard between them. Fold the bottom 4 inches in and tape it down. Those simple changes will make a huge difference.
Another tip. Use foam backer rod from Home Depot etc in your door gaps, hood gaps etc. 3M sells a similar product for paint shops but it’s way more expensive. Backer rod is $5 for 20ft.

I spray painted a 1975 Camaro with about 30 cans of Home Depot outdoor furniture paint. Looked great for about a month and then it was super oxidized.
That turned out great. Yrs ago a guy I went to school with painted a 1970 Camero and out in the sun you could see every pass he made with that can. Lol. God bless! May he shine upon everyone today. In Jesus name. Amen.

I painted a freightliner century with rattle cans and took it to the shop that quoted me $15,000 for a paint job. They wanted to know how I did it. I said I did 4 coats and spent $400
After seeing all the other colors used on this channel, I'm quite shocked that this one is..well, plain. Not a bad thing by any means, & the job itself is high quality. These guys truly have a talent for paint & body work.

you can't beat this guy's hand. buy the turbo spray can to avoid less tiger stripes,this regular can only gives like 2inches width which is easy to end up with uneven paint stripes.

Before my grandma passed away last year, she told me to take care of her car. It's a 2003 Toyota Camry about 125k miles on it and still needs a bit of work, but I really want to paint it. This video makes me want to give it a try one day, thanks for sharing. 🙏

Not bad. I like using single stage myself with 3 to 4 coats. The 5th coat I mix clear coat with single stage for the final coat.
Looks great. I would suggest using a clear coat as the base coat is pretty thin.

About 15 years ago I sprayed a 55 F500 Dump truck using Rustoleum paint. The body was covered in light surface rust when I got it. I wire wheeled it down to bare metal. I applied primer and two coats of color. I sold that truck about 13 years after that paint job, and even after sitting outside, it still looked great.

Love seeing this. I did some barnyard body work on a rotted wheelwell last week and bought a can of the correct duplicolor on a whim instead of leaving it primered and I gotta say - it's not gonna win any awards but I couldn't believe how decent it looks!

Great job! I do my rattle can painting only in summer on hot days. Let the cans sit in sun for 10-15 mins. Always use very good adhering primer, two coats. Fine sanding and good cleaning between coats. Light dusting coat of paint first, dries in the sun (no trees around!) Then a good coat of spray paint, dries for several days. Then a very fine sanding, Final coat is the trick, do it all same day, watch the runs! Then the painted item sits in hot sun all day & the next, and do not use them for a week. I've done fridges, tool boxes, tool cabinets, all sorts of appliances. Thsi summer I will tackle my first vehicle, a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4.
Try that in the UK with no sun and rain 😂

I used to do this with the old beaters I used to drive in the late 70s. I even sprayed a couple with a vacuum cleaner sprayer, which actually worked pretty good. Only used a quart of Harbor Blue Rust-oleum to do a '69 Buick Electra. The paint was still on it two years later when we got rid of it.

I'm amazed you were able to do only 1 coat and get that coverage without having any runs. Your trigger fingers must have been tired after all of that. Spray can paint jobs are always disregarded. However if you know what you are doing, and do all the prep steps, even spray paint can go on like glass. Plus you’ll save yourself a lot of money. Most people just don’t know how to prep, or they want to take short cuts.

Rusto FTMFW. Not only did i work in a body shop, but I've been a graffiti writer since i was like 13, (I'm 40 now,) and there is no paint that lays and is as cheap as Rustos. Montana cans are awesome and have a huge selection of colors, but they're much more expensive, and not as easy to get in stores. Gloves are a no-no too, I agree. Some people prefer to remove the fenders and go panel by panel for the best results, but i do my painting very similar to you. That way the end of your painting 'strokes' aren't too 'heavy.' That K-Tuned sticker mislead me. I was expecting a K20 under the hood. Nice job on the 'Aerosol Overhaul' broski 👍😎

I paint everything w cans..bikes 2 cars..all come out great..after u paint let dry and wax w lemon pledge w sock or towel..let dry buff w t shirt...shine is awesome..

I know perfection isn't the name of the game here but for anyone watching please consider priming (cheaper than paint), more than one coat and finally a clear coat finish. It will probably only be ~4x as expensive as the technique in this video but the longevity and quality improvements will be undeniable. Weigh your options though if you're painting a winter beater w/ 200k miles then whatever. If you're painting a cool car like an integra, personally I'd avoid cheaping out.

Hey man super cool stuff, I kinda want to try this myself now. I have 10 years of experience painting cars in a professional setting (Gerber and dealership collision centers) and I have a suggestion that may get you a much slicker finish. I don't know how Rust-Oleum would react to this but it would be worth a shot: when you are painting, put a second coat on there and once it's cured you should have enough material build to knock it down a tad with some 2000 grit sandpaper (must use water), follow that with 3000 grit and then follow the 3M 3-step buffing process. You can usually skip step 3 on that. The finish would be slick as glass. Another recommendation would be to use the Rust-Oleum without can clear ontop of it because it is tested true durable paint, however that can clear will degrade in the sun pretty quickly
Yes I paint in a hot rod shop sometimes as well. I was thinking thinking the same thing with wet sanding. Although I'm curious how long it takes for this particular type of paint to cure before you could do it. In the past when I used to practice with bicycles it would take forever before rattle can paint jobs would be ready to sand
