Zoom below 4x uses the Hasselblad, zoom above 4x uses the other camera. You keep getting the sensors warning because the Visual Positioning System(VPS) is still active. More than one system uses input from the sensors, so I don’t know whether you’re saving any power by turning them off. I still got 29 minutes out of it with 20% battery remaining and APAS on.
I was with you all the way on that one. I couldn't hold my breath any longer! The zoom - 1 to 4x uses the main lens, which allows better light in. 7-28x is on the smaller telephoto lens, hence it going dark, as the smaller sensor isn't as sensitive. That also why you get the jump when zooming between 4x and 7x. The iPad GPS - Wifi Only iPads do not have a GPS chip, and approximate positions via other means (nearby Wifi etc), hence will be some way off in more rural areas. Love the vids, keep them coming!
the beeping was freaking me out also.... and then the double beeps????.... wow knew you would make it back but when the double beeps came in.... i was like holly smokes
You do make the best and the most suspenseful range test just like DC Rainmaker does the best wind test. You guys have the right environment to do your respective tests. I can't believe you went out that far but holy shit you made it come back to your hands even when fuel was fumes. LOL Awesome test.

That's some crazy impressive range and battery life! I hope they're able to bring some of these improvements over to the next Mini. I'd love a Mini that lasts 40+ minutes!
Amazing range test - just wondered what the ambient temperature was there on Maui as cooler temps can affect battery life too. I know it's generally warmer there than where I fly in the UK but still a late evening flight like yours after sunset could be cooler than a mid day sunny flight. Thank you sir!
I dont think anyone else will attempt this with thier new drone, Great info, thanks for doing this... Another nail bitter for sure, I'm glad you got er back with no issues... WTG!
Wow this gave me anxiety towards the end amazing and risky video. You were on 10% and still had very long to go and suprised it kept going on 0%. My theory is they actually have another 5% plus of battery after it reaches 0 for emergencies. You earned a sub from a noob SE owner! I'm scared to go 2km.
That was ridiculously close! Came back at 0% ! Good thing DJI under estimates their battery spec a bit..great flight as usual, but that was really close, had my original mavic come back at like 2 % and that was giving me a heart attack...lol good work! 👍
Thank you for this test flight. Great test flight DD... so now we do know that likely the best real-time experience one will achieve with these batteries is only about 35 minutes when conditions allow for about 33 mph out and back! That's pretty good for a stock battery but certainly nowhere near the advertised 45 min. flight time. I have seen guys fly M2 P's for a total round trip flight distance of 30 miles and beyond using extended batteries from China, Singapore, and Slovakia that do indeed give 45-60 minute of flight time. I have some of these. On average as long as you can fly at a fairly constant speed of 33 mph you will average about 3,000 ft/min. and 1,000 ft. for every 1% of battery time. It's better to fly by voltage though as the percentages used by the Fly App are based on algorithms that are constantly changing with flight conditions, and while pretty accurate the battery voltage readings are more trustworthy. At 4.2 V the lipo battery is at 100% and fully charged. At 3.8% it will be 50% discharged. At 3.4% figure to be at 0% and that is a good point at which safely land the craft however continuing on to about 3.2% voltage when in a pinch is fine and will get you at least another 2-3000 ft. more distance when you need it. So not to fear. But knowing this I can enjoy your flights and relax as I know when you will or will not make it back. Just a little knowledge for those who may want to know the science behind long distance flight with the DJI Mavics. Thanks again for all that you do to educate and entertain us in this wonderful hobby we all share together!

Great info 🍻
Needed a valium the size of an ice hockey puck after this video. Keep up the good work Dustin. You are the best at range tests.
Your range test videos are going to be the death of me. LOL Fantastic video Dustin. You never disappoint.
the beeping was freaking me out also.... and then the double beeps????.... wow knew you would make it back but when the double beeps came in.... i was like holly smokes
You do make the best and the most suspenseful range test just like DC Rainmaker does the best wind test. You guys have the right environment to do your respective tests. I can't believe you went out that far but holy shit you made it come back to your hands even when fuel was fumes. LOL Awesome test.
I just recently bought this drone with the Fly more package like you did and love it! But I would never fly it that far away. I'm kind of new to flying drones and flew my Mini 2 less than a quarter mile away and was already getting panicky about doing that. Thanks for sharing this.
This new Mavic 3 is very impressive, especially as far as signal and battery life. Another awesome range test, your the master at these things. I was on the edge of my seat hoping it would make it back.
What a nail biter. We were on the edge of our seat the whole time- BRAVO!!!
That's some crazy impressive range and battery life! I hope they're able to bring some of these improvements over to the next Mini. I'd love a Mini that lasts 40+ minutes!
That was epic! It’s no exaggeration to say that before I buy certain things I check to see if you’ve posted anything relevant to what I want.
Amazing range test - just wondered what the ambient temperature was there on Maui as cooler temps can affect battery life too. I know it's generally warmer there than where I fly in the UK but still a late evening flight like yours after sunset could be cooler than a mid day sunny flight. Thank you sir!
Around 70°F 🍻
Can’t believe you made it back on this test! Awesome!
Love your work, Dustin. I was literally on the edge of my seat watching the last few minutes of the flight!
The definition of ambivalence: so happy it made it back... but I also really wanted to see a demo of the find my drone feature.
If only I could watch your range tests in IMAX! Total nail-biting experience! Great job with this range test. As usual, love the Maui sunset. 🤙🏾
I dont think anyone else will attempt this with thier new drone, Great info, thanks for doing this... Another nail bitter for sure, I'm glad you got er back with no issues... WTG!
Bros drone is going too far 💀💀
Mine went into the ocean
Always enjoy his range tests...the best. Excellent place to fly from.
Well done Dustin! You almost gave me a heart attack.🙏🏾
I bit all the nails off on my fingers and toes. Glad you made it. Great as always. Thanks.
Insane range. Nice job 👏
My mouth is open....I said no way you make it with 9% and 6500 feet out. Wow... impressive!
Man, I nearly needed a change of pants watching this 🤣. Incredible range!
That’s really fantastic. I have been on the fence for this one and if I do get one… it will be cause of this video. Thanks, Dustin!
I’m impressed enough with my mini 2’s camera ability. But now that I see the distance and time on this one, I’m jealous
HAHAHAHAH EXACTLY THE SAME HERE
Im to poor to afford the mini 2 right now because my rent has been high lately but im jealous of you having it lmao i cant imagine the mavic 3
Very impressive. I flew MA2 8.2km once but this M3 flight was at a whole new level.
When I fly in the city of Los Angeles I get about a half-mile of range before bars start to drop. Nice to see what the M3 can do in the open
fly at greater altitude. You will not get the same range because of city interference but you shouldn't have bars dropping at a mere half a mile
@@IRequireMedication that makes sense. I tend to fly low. Will fly higher and take advantage of the zoom capabilities.
Addicted to the thrill of your range tests, nice one again!
18 miles round trip is just phenomenal. What an awesome range test!! Fantastic job Dustin & Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family 😊 🦃🦃
I see you commenting everywhere! 🌞👍 You're a great supporter of drone channels.
Don't think it'll reach 18 miles, it started to loose radio signal at 8 miles, battery wise yes radio signal wise no
@@ipant1056 He said round trip, so he meant total travelled distance, going out and coming back.
@@ipant1056, I think he is saying to and from , Round Trip .
@@ipant1056 ,sorry , didn't realize someone explained it before I made the comment. Take care .
So where did you buy the DJI Mavic 3 drone please
Great info 🍻. I'm thinking with around 10 battery cycles the flight time could increase.
That video made me smile! When you got to the beach, that was so cool! Great stuff, I wanna get one of these drones someday.
