To address a bunch of the comments, when we say "eBay Spacers" we don't mean to classify ALL spacers on eBay in the same category. There are good brands out there, but this is just common terminology for cheaply made spacers that are often found on eBay or Amazon and made overseas. Bora spacers are made in the USA! www.customwheeloffset.com/store/?cat=Spacers

The question is: Which one carries the weight of the vehicle: the clamping force created by studs/nuts or the hub?
Eibach produces 25mm or 1 inch spacers without protruding lip for centering the wheel. The Eibach spacer is hub-centric but the wheel will be centered by lug nuts to the spacer.
I have searched online and find 50/50 people saying the hub carries the weight and others say the shear force carries the weight. I think it makes sense that the shear force created by the studs/nuts carry the weight and the hub is only to help out in centering the wheel to prevent vibrations. If the hub would carry the weight the wheel should be pressed very tightly to the hub which is not the case in any wheel since the removal of the wheel from the hub would require a special tool. Also if you think about that aftermarket wheels come with center bore plastic adapters. Would plastic actually withstand the load of the car?. OEM wheels come with the right CB to fit the hub because it would be stupid to put different CB than the hub if you produce both the vehicle and the wheel. Obviously it is desireable to have hub-centric spacer and wheel to help out with the centering of the wheel to prevent vibrations. As a conclusion the hub is just for centering the wheel not to carry weight. Thus it is called "Hub-centric".

@@24revealer you are assuming the truck is sitting on an absolutely level surface. Best way to measure with tires installed is to
1)chock front wheels and jack up the rear so both rear tires are just about off the ground, but not completely so they won't turn
      2) use a long straight edge up against the entire tire (dead down the center of the tire) and measure to the fender
      3) set the rear down and repeat for the front.
But doing this also assumes that your front fender and rear fenders are equal distances from the center line of your truck. Best method is to measure hub to hub, subtract the two and divide by 2...this will give you exact measurement for spacers if you are trying to space your rear wheels to equal the front. But this will increase your turning radius

Custom Offsets id have to disagree vehicles still use ball joints however older vehicles had grease zerks so that they could be serviced newer trucks come from the factory un-greaseable. and a ball joint still on average enjoys about 125k life before it causes poor tire wear and should be replaced . the dynamics of spacers and extream offsets has not changed the further the inner most contact area of the tire is from the actual pivot point of the ball joint the further stress of the weight of the vehical acts on said ball joints one thing has changed then from now and that is the weight of trucks today a chevy 1/2 ton which. was most common back then has a base weight of about 4500 to 5000 lbs and most trucks today typically being diesel that receive these spacers and extream offsets weigh in at about 8500 to 9500lbs 3/4 tons

I had to help a customer move his entire Corvette collection over 150 miles, one or more models of Vette from each redesign, so more then a dozen. I was driving a c3 that had spacers, then a wheel bearing gave out and the wheel passed me on the highway. Are you saying that not having the weight centered under the bearing is suddenly no longer a bad thing?

    • @CustomOffsetsTV

The wheel spacers themselves arent exactly going to cause wheel bearings to wear out prematurely, its whatever you put on the end of the wheel bearing such as a stock wheel and tire or a 26x16. That makes a world of difference.

Great vids! Subbed! Got a question for you. I have a 2006 sequoia that I want to put 35" tires on. The factory wheel size is 17x7.5, and offset is +15mm, and most people have to run a 1.25" (or 31.75mm) spacer with factory wheels to make it work, but I really dont want tor un spacers. When buying new wheels, does that mean that I need to have an offset now of -16.75mm to make up for the spacers? looking at getting into 17x9 or 17x8.5. Any help is greatly appreciated!

From what I know the e bay spacers are lug centric meaning the a corn lug nuts will center the spacer.the hub centric black spacer is ok but I would imagine it's for a wheel that needs to fit snug on axle hub to center it so that's why spacer has lip on it and also a wheel that uses lug nuts that are round like washers are the ones that definitely need hub centric spacers like the black one he was showing.I think each spacer will work fine no issues and serve it's purpose.the trick is to tighten them up very good to vehicles axle.this guy seems to be trying to sell his black spacer it's about the money and advertising..I use the e bay spacers on 2500 and 3500 chevy and pull 20-30k lbs and never had one give out.

500 miles for a re-torque is overkill. 5-10 miles would likely work better and eliminate any immediate loosening of the wheels and spacers. Any alloy wheel needs to be re-torqued after removal and reinstallation. Incorrectly torqued wheels is the single greatest cause of brake rotor warping.
