I’ve had some for a year now, never re-tightened the tops, done 160mph+ multiple times, never vibrations, car drivers straight, never had a issue, doesn’t rust, just don’t get the cheapest eBay ones, I got billets
Matthew Pincoski hub centric does nothing more than aid in installing and lining up wheel, when everything is tight the studs carry the load by clamping force. Cheap studs use bad metallurgy and will just snap, same goes for all cheap metal parts.
@@24revealer you are assuming the truck is sitting on an absolutely level surface. Best way to measure with tires installed is to 1)chock front wheels and jack up the rear so both rear tires are just about off the ground, but not completely so they won't turn 2) use a long straight edge up against the entire tire (dead down the center of the tire) and measure to the fender 3) set the rear down and repeat for the front. But doing this also assumes that your front fender and rear fenders are equal distances from the center line of your truck. Best method is to measure hub to hub, subtract the two and divide by 2...this will give you exact measurement for spacers if you are trying to space your rear wheels to equal the front. But this will increase your turning radius
My favorite thing when people talk about how dangerous wheel spacers and adapters are is when I point out and show them that they actually come on most medium duty semi trucks and most 1 ton 4x4 trucks and have since at least the 60s

I have a all wheel drive 2005 yukon denali xlt 1500.After adjustment on the torsion bar keys I've got an awful lot of camber. I've heard 2"spacer will help with this, true or not true is my question. I should also mention I've already changed the rear auto air ride system with a kit that came with new coil springs, shocks (2" adapters added to shocks)and 3" spacers under the springs. Also came with new torsion keys supposed to add 3 inches. I haven't added the new key's all ready can see bottom lower control arms are pretty much maxed out. Any way are the spacer's worth my time while waiting to get the rest of the front end parts upgraded. My stock arms do appear to have an adjustment on them. I believe for camber but not sure. I watch your videos all the time , would love feed back on my set up. Oh I plan to get rid of the magnetic Ride system up front.36" in the front 40" in the rear from floor to outside top edge of fender. My goal is to be able to get the tallest tire I can , stock truck has almost no ground clearance at all.
Word of advice from someone who installs spacers on a regular basis. Use blue locktite on your lugs from the spacer to the hub. This will keep the lugs from coming loose over time.
I've got an 08 3500 dually bout to install 35x12.50 on stock 17" wheels. What size spacers would I need and how would I install them for the front and rear?
I have wheels that have a 40 offset and I want them put on my 350z that currently has stock wheels. Will your spacers work in my situation? The wheels are gonna be further inside my fender and I need spacers to bring them so they fit flush with my fender
As mechanic whenever i run across a person wanting to put spacers on their ride i always tell them they have to come back a week from installation to retighten the spacers cause of looseness that might arise i always torque the spacers to vehicle specifications ( which is how i was taught) then the wheels themselves.. then a week later as said earlier repeat the process.... question... is this right? or are we doing something we dont need to do @ Custom Offsets
It is always a good idea to re-torque wheel spacers after driving on them for the first 50-100miles or so absolutely. After you torque it and put the tire back on, the lug nuts get seated and the studs stretch a little bit so its always a good idea to check them with miles or like you said after a week or so
Custom Offsets this is why I love your company I’ve been wondering this for a while. Your videos are so helpful and your website is great and easy to use. I’m recommending you to all my friends and I can’t wait to but a set of wheels myself!
What size spacer could I use on a 20 by 9 Moto Metal wheel with a 0 offset running 35s on a leveled Ram. Don't want the wheels to stick out huge but would like a little bit more and not have to trim my lug nuts as well thanks
I had to help a customer move his entire Corvette collection over 150 miles, one or more models of Vette from each redesign, so more then a dozen. I was driving a c3 that had spacers, then a wheel bearing gave out and the wheel passed me on the highway. Are you saying that not having the weight centered under the bearing is suddenly no longer a bad thing?
The spacer to hub are the same torque as wheel to hub but the wheel to spacer torque is less. If you ordered spacers they should have came with the torque specs on the paper
I wanna get spacers but I've heard from a couple mechanic friends good and bad things. One of them was trying to tell me how the studs on my truck, 01 ram 2500 are stronger no matter what and spacers are always going to fail because the stud is the weak part
Ok, so I have a 96 f150. I can’t decide whether I want to run a spacer setup or a deep dish rim setup. If I run wides what does it effect. And if I run spacers what all do I need to replace with after market for less wearing or bearing failure?
Hello brother, just need a little help with something.. Basically bought 12mm spacers for my BMW along side with pro lowering spring quite a while ago i have come across deep rubbing from my back arches My right tyre has blown and left one was about too, too. My tyres have tread but the inside of the wheels are scraping, why so? Can you perhaps explain what the situation could be. Will really appreciate your response, Thank you
Just replaced hubs on a Jeep that had spacers before I got it. Had to force every hubs bolt through, with great difficulty and none of them had threads left . The torque/moment changes substantial withe the distance. Now I'm about to add 1" spacers. Cause they're awesome
I have a 2004 super duty that I tow a travel trailer a lot with. I just wanted to know that it'll be just as safe pulling with the spacers as it is without.
I have a 2020 Subaru ascent and I only want like 1/2inch spacer. Will it affect my towing/tongue weight capacity? Will it also lower the life of bearings?
No such thing as a stupid question when youre learning. And that is a very commonly asked question, you should not need an alignment after installing wheel spacers.
Jake Garzo That’s what I figure I bet they have no issues as a daily commuter but I put 15k 20k a year on rough dirt roads and I can’t see how they wouldn’t cause issues.
I have a 2014 wrangler unlimited, I’m going to put on 35x12.5 on my stock 17” rubicon wheels. What spacer do I need to clear that. I have a 2” lift and high clearance fenders
I guess no one has ever head about Steering Axis Inclination... Spacers ruin that angle for sure. And a spacer also extends the length between your rim flange and hub, obviously, which a longer length equals for leverage which means more stress on the hub.
I've never like the thought of spacers for many reasons. In Ontario Canada they are actually outlawed now from idiot installation issues. (Wheels falling off)
The spacers with no studs ie 1/2" spacers you just take the rim off put the spacer on and put the rims back on and torque it down correct? I have a 2020 Silverado and my tire rubs on inner angled frame peice
I just bought a 2007 Jeep Liberty...paid a good price for it...will a one and a half wheel spacer hurt bearings or much of anything? I am NOT going off road nor planning on racing. Just a daily ride in the snow. Mostly for looks
Would it be better to buy a wheel with a specific offset to have your wheels stick out the way you want, or just use spacers to do it? Does it make a difference?
my grandfather and I own a machine shop and would like to know if it is safe to make our own spacer ( I don't have enough money, or a card to buy them..) out of maybe 440 stainless.. I think that is right
Yeah man don't sweat all the shit all these dudes are saying, my number one pointer to you is to machine the rear of the spacer to fit the head of the bolt exactly. I have had spacers before that don't hold the head of the bolt before and instead use splined studs with the round head and they are trash.
I have a set of 1.5 inch spacers that I bought for my tundra. When bolting the spacer to the hub I noticed the lugnut doesn't grab all the treads. Do I need to install longer studs on my hubs?
How big of a spacer can I run before it would actualy start to cause serious stress on wheel bearing? I'm soon to be wide body my type r and worried about this? Also can you make any size to fit my car?
In theory spacers means a wider turn for the wheel which means will get closer to the fender/wheel well right? Do they make longer control arms for 5th gen ram 1500's? Is it worth going that route? I want max size tires without doing a crazy huge lift, and I have the air ride equipped.
Ok, but what if you have a steel factory wheel and the spacers are aluminum. Will that cause any issues, electrolysis, etc.. have 2007 Silverado with stock steel wheels but need 2" spacing all around..
I've had 1.5" wheel spacers on my last 3 trucks in the course of 10 years. I've gone mud bogging, baja-ing, bombing down dirt roads, and pretty much anything else u can do with a truck. Never had one problem with my spacers...and ppl still tell me they're unsafe. Mine aren't hub centric either, never have been.
Can hub centric spacer adapters be used to add space in between dulleys on a 1994 chevy p30 motorhome to both avoid tire rubbing and giving you a wider stance?
I have BORA spaces on a F-350 Platinum, crew cab & short bed, with stock wheels and 38x15.5's only had to replaced the 4x4 dam with one for a 4x2. So far no issues. That is with a 3.5-inch Ready Lift; wanted to keep my factory snow plow springs.
I’ve been running 2 inch spacers from eBay for five years now absolutely agree with installing them correctly with the correct Lugnuts my Ford uses flat base Lugnuts from stock you have to use acorn The spacer has a taper and so does my wheel. Do not over torque! If you don’t trust the studs replaced them
Hey need some help I just got 2" Boras for my 2013 3500 duramax dually my plans are to put spacer wheel spacer wheel in the rear please if anyone knows how much to torque it at 🤙🤙🤙
Boras come with spacers, but if you by chance didn't get 'em or lost them, email info@customoffsets.com and our team can gladly get you info on torque specs!
Good points, but the simple fact is, that the further you move the wheel from the hub, the more stress you’re putting on the first lugs, so it does become more dangerous, the wider you get...

Spacers will not help with aligning the truck unfortunately will need an alignment at minimum
Increasing the playback speed to 2x is just right for this topic. Nicely done 👍
Thank you. How about 5mm spacer? Do I need alignment if I take them of later? Changing mustang rims 44 to 40mm
No alignment needed for wheel spacers!
@@CustomOffsetsTV Thank you. Put the 5mm spacers in front. No balancing no aligning needed. Works great! Tires were already balanced though.
Word of advice from someone who installs spacers on a regular basis. Use blue locktite on your lugs from the spacer to the hub. This will keep the lugs from coming loose over time.
It helps. But you should not have to use loctite on them if you are torquing and re-torquing them correctly
@@CustomOffsetsTV Why torque 2x when you can loctite once?
I've got an 08 3500 dually bout to install 35x12.50 on stock 17" wheels. What size spacers would I need and how would I install them for the front and rear?
The 2" spacer question was pretty dumb. Lol. Great video man. You do talk a little fast though
I have wheels that have a 40 offset and I want them put on my 350z that currently has stock wheels. Will your spacers work in my situation? The wheels are gonna be further inside my fender and I need spacers to bring them so they fit flush with my fender
yes they will, hit up fitmentindustries.com and our car team can help you out Nick!
After you torque it and put the tire back on, the lug nuts get seated and the studs stretch a little bit so its always a good idea to check them with miles or like you said after a week or so
What bout added bearing stress is what im wondering
it will add some stress. but not the huge misconception of wheels destroying the bearing in a few months like alot of people think!
Custom Offsets does it add anymore stress then a higher offset wheel though?
I had to help a customer move his entire Corvette collection over 150 miles, one or more models of Vette from each redesign, so more then a dozen. I was driving a c3 that had spacers, then a wheel bearing gave out and the wheel passed me on the highway. Are you saying that not having the weight centered under the bearing is suddenly no longer a bad thing?
I want wheel spacers for my Mini but I never new if they were dangerous or not but now I learned it’s the quality that it the determining factor.
Vortec, I run 1" spacers on both of my Lexus and have had zero issues. Also a good amount of guys here run 2" spacers on their trucks!
Custom Offsets Good to know man I appreciate it! My wheels need to be flush with the fender flares 👌
What is the torque specs for my spacers to hub on my 2018 toyota tacoma 4x4. Thanks
As long as the spaces are a good brand they will be just as strong. I don't know about the US, but in Europe Eibach or H&R are the ones to get.
Ok, so I have a 96 f150. I can’t decide whether I want to run a spacer setup or a deep dish rim setup. If I run wides what does it effect. And if I run spacers what all do I need to replace with after market for less wearing or bearing failure?
Hello brother, just need a little help with something..
Basically bought 12mm spacers for my BMW along side with pro lowering spring quite a while ago i have come across deep rubbing from my back arches
My right tyre has blown and left one was about too, too. My tyres have tread but the inside of the wheels are scraping, why so?
Can you perhaps explain what the situation could be.
Will really appreciate your response,
Thank you
Just replaced hubs on a Jeep that had spacers before I got it.
As long as they are installed correctly you should not see any issues towing with them! Check out our wheel spacers here!
customoffsets.com/spacers
I have a 2020 Subaru ascent and I only want like 1/2inch spacer. Will it affect my towing/tongue weight capacity? Will it also lower the life of bearings?
Will hub centric spacers work on stock rims on f250 2008 wills on 2003 truck
Yes they can Samuel
Probably a stupid question but will I have to get an alignment after wheel spacer installment
No such thing as a stupid question when youre learning. And that is a very commonly asked question, you should not need an alignment after installing wheel spacers.
How do they hold up on pickups that spend a way above average amount of time on rough dirt roads?
Mines have held up 6.5years and still running strong, been through mud sand and floods most of its time
The same physics hold your spacers on your hub that hold a wheel on the hub. There's no difference.
Will hold up fine but with spacers and offsets your wheel bearings will wear 5x faster than normal
Jake Garzo That’s what I figure I bet they have no issues as a daily commuter but I put 15k 20k a year on rough dirt roads and I can’t see how they wouldn’t cause issues.
Definitley will cause extra wear. Don't know about 5x.
I have a 2014 wrangler unlimited, I’m going to put on 35x12.5 on my stock 17” rubicon wheels. What spacer do I need to clear that. I have a 2” lift and high clearance fenders
What’s does liking the comment mean 😂
I guess no one has ever head about Steering Axis Inclination... Spacers ruin that angle for sure. And a spacer also extends the length between your rim flange and hub, obviously, which a longer length equals for leverage which means more stress on the hub.
I'd also add that if ruins your scrub radius as well
I've never like the thought of spacers for many reasons.
Correct
when adding 1.5inch spacers....is a 4 wheel alignment required or needed? vehicle was recently aligned before the spacers were added
Shouldnt need to!
I just bought a 2007 Jeep Liberty...paid a good price for it...will a one and a half wheel spacer hurt bearings or much of anything? I am NOT going off road nor planning on racing. Just a daily ride in the snow. Mostly for looks
Hi, I have Jeep willy 2020, what kind of spacers and size would you recommend?
Would it be better to buy a wheel with a specific offset to have your wheels stick out the way you want, or just use spacers to do it? Does it make a difference?
Offset is the better way to go. But as long as you buy quality spacers that are hubcentric it isn’t a problem.
@@CustomOffsetsTV Thank you!
Hi can i ask you a question is that 2 inchs bora spacer fit for 2020 Ram rebel 1500 any rubs thank you
Great info! What headlights are they on the Hummer H3? So hard to find Halos for H3s, Any help would be much appreciated!
They are custom made Adobh. Check our headlight page out here- bit.ly/2xXj0b8
I can give you some help with your Hummer. Sell it.
my grandfather and I own a machine shop and would like to know if it is safe to make our own spacer ( I don't have enough money, or a card to buy them..) out of maybe 440 stainless.. I think that is right
Don't see why not, but there is unknown risk with them Redemption
Send an email to info@fitmentindustries.com they handle all of the cars
@@CustomOffsetsTV thank you il do so tommorow morning as I'm working nights tonight😏 judging by this video a few inch is good to go tho?
Email adress does not exist
@@LiamTapey My apologies, send an email to wheels@fitmentindustries.com
@@CustomOffsetsTV I think email is now sent my phone is playing up now😂
Should they be torqued while lifted or while car is set on ground?
In the air.
Hi do you guys make 5x135 to 6x135 adapters?
yes we do John, shoot us an email to info@customoffsets.com and we can help you out!
I have hub centric rings and still vibrate. Do you think hub centric spacers will solve the vibration issue.
In theory spacers means a wider turn for the wheel which means will get closer to the fender/wheel well right? Do they make longer control arms for 5th gen ram 1500's? Is it worth going that route? I want max size tires without doing a crazy huge lift, and I have the air ride equipped.
Shoot us an email to info@customoffsets.com so an expert can help you with your setup man! 🤘
Is it safe to grind the inside diameter of hub centric spacers to fit?? It’s just slightly smaller than my hubs at the moment
Ok, but what if you have a steel factory wheel and the spacers are aluminum. Will that cause any issues, electrolysis, etc.. have 2007 Silverado with stock steel wheels but need 2" spacing all around..
If you spray it with corrosive resistant spray on it, and it shouldn't cause any sort of aluminum/steel corrosion
@@CustomOffsetsTV ok so they will be suitable to use with OEM steel wheels and not just aluminum wheels?
What wheel is that on the ground at 1:25
I've had 1.5" wheel spacers on my last 3 trucks in the course of 10 years. I've gone mud bogging, baja-ing, bombing down dirt roads, and pretty much anything else u can do with a truck. Never had one problem with my spacers...and ppl still tell me they're unsafe. Mine aren't hub centric either, never have been.
what brand?
Can I use spacers to help clear brembo calipers? The spokes in my wheels won’t clear the brembos I bought
Cosmo Quinto yes, you can!
So is a -44 offset just mean 44 mm farther out and adding 2 inch spacers which is like 50 mm, does that mean it's the same as a -94 offset rim?
I was going to put like 1" spacers on my S10 since they have a really narrow wheel base as anyone who has seen an S10 knows. Great video by the way
Wow what an awesome car to own!!
1 inch isn't worth debating.
