You’re not really paying for a levelling kit. More the fact you’re buying one of the highest quality suspension upgrade kits on the market. The ride height is just a bonus.
Great video with lots of good information. I have been checking about leveling my 2019 Tundra. My local installer suggested the coil over option as well. Your video helped me understand his reasoning. I am going to check out your website. Thanks for the help!
I have Bilstein 6112s on my F150 set at the highest lift setting, which is 1.75” I think. 5100s in the rear. Ride is great on and off road, and I was easily able to clear 285/75r18 tires on factory wheels, which are a full 35” diameter tire.
So you got a new shock and coil , set the height, assembled them yourself and replaced the front struts. No UCA replacement required ? Then replaced the rear shocks with a Bilstein 5100 shock also ? Are you happy with the leveling and the ride quality ? What type or level of off road driving were you trying meet ? I have a 2020 F-150 that I want to level and drive off road on fire trails and no serious off roading but be able to leave the highway and run through some woods.
What I mean is they are the diameter of a labeled 35” tire, and they absolutely are. E.g. a 35/12.50r18. No tires measure up to what their indicated size is once weighted; thank you captain obvious.
This is, hands down, the BEST OVERALL video I've watched on this topic! Great job! (Info/delivery/knowledge/honesty/candor) I bought the Rancho Quicklift Leveling Strut + RS9000XL Adjustable Shocks Set for my 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ (from another supplier) and it's been a total nightmare since. I'm finally going to move on and am looking at the Rough County 2" Leveling Kit or the newer adjustable set. How do you think they'd do for my on/off road application?
Don’t buy the plastic rough country spacers. The hex holes stripped when installing a kit on my brothers truck. After doing some research I guess it’s common as others have complained of the same thing. Would go with a billet or aluminum option instead. Just my experience.
Great vid. I have a 2013 Titan 4x2. I installed new OEM style struts on the front with the rough country 3 inch lift. I believe that makes the front spacers 1.8 inches thick. Also installed new RC Forged Aluminum control arms and sway bar links. No issues with the front. For the rear I installed RC 1.75 inch tapered blocks. My truck had driveline vibration around 1800 rpm in 1st gear. Truck sat for 2 weeks while I messed with it and did research. I ended up swapping those tapered blocks for supreme suspension 1.5 inch flat blocks and the problem is 100% solved. I told RC about my issues after I corrected it. They insisted that I needed a carrier bearing drop since my 4x2 has a 2 piece shaft but their instructions as well as their website say ZERO about a carrier bearing drop for a 1st Gen Titan. A little annoyed that they sell the exact same parts for 4x2 and 4x4 trucks as far as the 3 inch lift or am I just a 1 off case with the previous driveline vibration?
Going to lift my 2023 tundra. Won’t ever do any actual off roading but the occasional dirt road with some bumps. How detrimental can a spacer be in my case?
I have a 2015 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4X4 5.7 Hemi. I want to level the front then add 2.5 - 3 inches overall. I’d like to do this by using new shocks, struts, upper control arm and new tie bars. Beside Rough Country what do you recommend. Thank you
So basically I can get rid of the cheap 2.5” front spacer that’s making my ride quality suck, and replace it with a fox 2.0? No more spacer, same lift, better ride quality?
What's most modest done right lift can I do on my 2019 4wd midnight with 18" rims ... we have a lift in our shop so I wanted to attempt diy .. just need dirextion. We lift on dirt roads and I'd like to move a lil faster down them without worry and look good doing it.. any tips and advice is greatly appreciated
I would definitely not pay $850 for those Icon tubular upper control arms, Icon Toyota tacoma. Bigger trucks I have to go with Cognito-Kriptonite or Mcgaughys. I usually keep my lift and upper control arms the same.
Very educational. Thanks. A few questions I'm hoping you'll see and be able to answer after all this time. I'd want high end, top performance for my anticipated new F150, so based on what you've said here I'd go the top of the line $4,600 coil over level kit route, at whatever today's more recent price point is. But what I really want is either a 3" or 3 1/2" level, or maybe a 4" lift, to allow max room for a larger 35" tire and its added minimum road clearance. Here are my questions: First, are there issues going up to a 3" or 3 1/2" level that affect performance, ride quality/comfort, suspension range and such that make that height less than ideal? Second, would going up to a full on 4" lift kit with the added reconstruction underneath and that metal addition running across the front side to side, which looks like it would decrease minimum road clearance, would that resolve any such concerns found with the higher level kits, and would it increase or decrease performance, ride quality/comfort, suspension range and such? And would that full on lift kit then hang lower across the front thus actually decrease the minimum road clearance versus the 3" or 3 1/2" level? Other? Thanks. I live in mountainy ski country with deeper snow and often rougher roads, and what appears to be a lower hanging added bar structure going across the front with the full on lift kit, that drop down height concerns me. It's all a little confusing and I'm only just learning. Cost is secondary to me. I want to learn the pros and cons of a higher 3 - 3 1/2" level vs jumping up to a 4" lift. I can factor cost in later if needed.
Great videos! But what about the guys who don't have 4wd? My 2016 ram 1500 rwd has just a spring. No strut. So do I have to sacrifice ride quality if I want a 3" lift kit.
Hello, at about the 8:21 minute mark you talk about a $4,610 "kit", I can't find that on your website? Sorry for the confusion, I’m new to off-road lifts. So if I’m wanting to do a 2” lift on a Tahoe, does the 2” leveling kit only lift the front end 2”? Or does it lift the front and back, but make them level in the process?
Leveling kit only lifts the front of the vehicle to make the truck appear “level.” From the factory the vehicle has the back lifter higher due to its load capacity when you add weight the rear squats down and looks level.
I have a 23 ford tremor and I like the way it rides on road and off road on the weekends, so what would I go to? I did go to bilstien 5100s on my tundra and it is awful on road riding extremely stiff so I didn't like it and need to figure out a solution for that as well it's a 2010 also I'm not wanting rough country anything and also don't want to spend over 1400 on each truck, I'm just looking for leveling no real lift
I have a 2020 ram 1500 big horn and I have been wanting to lift it and put big wheels and tires but I heard that lifting your truck ruins the suspension and puts stress on the whole system. I rarely go off road but I want it for looks, I don’t want spacers either, what’s the best way to lift it without impacting anything else too badly? Great video thanks for all of the info!
