Any comments on spacers and offset wheels wearing out bearings? I was looking at both but backed off after I priced how much it costs per wheel to replace worn out bearings...
@John Elliott >John, as a retired ASE master tech, I have seen many engineering changes. Some good, some not. The rear if a straight axle has a robust needle bearing for some, but it comes down to service. If you go to Rock Auto and see your front bearings as a one piece bolt on assembly, the bearing are not grease-able. This bothers me as frequent checks for looseness, noise, odd handling. Technically they are subject to higher loads as if using a cheater bar to lift something. A spring, coil over or torsion bar, the point where the lower control are mounts is the pivot. The ball joint is the length of that lever. Most “Springs” are a 2:1 ratio, so adding, say two inches w/spacer or wheel offset more negative (As seen by the wheels center) changes this load increasing it say 2.5:1 ratio. This amplifies loads on the power steering gear and all other moving parts. Some parts may wear quicker but simply put, check it more often. Since a bearing hub is sealed, it is very hard to add grease like older designs wear an inner or out bearing can be cleaned, inspected, then re-packed with fresh grease. Even in the upper Midwest, like NE., pot holes are horrible as freeze/thaw cycles create craters in the road, just going to work. As for zero scrub, draw a line thru the upper ball joint, thru the lower and raised or not, this imaginary line meets the road in the middle of the tire. This angle changes during turns know as SAI (Steering axis inclination) it is measured on a alignment rack and only if not equal, indicates a bent part! Zero scrub is engineers way of reducing friction, reducing rolling resistance and helps fuel economy. But loads are increased, mileage may drop, you get 45k out of a 60k tire (Note; Trucks have 13mm of tread / cars have 9mm new) but check more often at home, look for loose parts (Trucks have more vertical movement in lower ball joints so don’t let a shop fool you) just plan on having to spend extra money on certain parts that would otherwise last longer. All little effort on your end will keep things safe, happy plus look good. I don’t get a pension but live comfortably broke, but put high quality 2” spaces on my 1967 C10 pickup. But I have C20 (3/4 ton) lower control arms with heavier ball joints and bearing I can inspect, repack and adjust as needed because the wheel I want are not available with a deep off set. If they did, I still have the same additional forces. I hope I helped & not bored you. Just passing my knowledge on this subject. If I need wheel bearings, I spend $18.00 + seal. You spend $130 plus careful to not damage ABS sensor. Same with other parts but you have rubber LCA bushings, mine are metal. Rear bearing, seal, bearing $12 per side with adaptor & slide hammer. You have a captured bearing, requires pressed off, pressed on, cost $140 per side. I wish I could work or teach like I did for ACDelco in 4hr seminars and two day classes. But no more! Hell, I can mow the yard. Injury not related to working on cars, just stupid boss, I lost. Dude, hope I helped!

I'm curious why spacers are designed the way they are, what with all the extra holes and lugs to attach spacer to hub, then wheel to spacer. Why not just have spacers with simple straight through holes, and use a set of appropriately longer lugs, so that the lug goes all the way through wheel spacer and hub. This would simplify their manufacture, and could somewhat solve the torqueing difficulties too.

In most vehicles, a scrub radius of less than 10-15 mm is ideal. Wheels with offsets would cause the same premature damage to your suspension. You also acted like it would instantly happen. The pressure is over a long period and depends on the stress you put on your vehicle. Catchie title but misleading because if they were so dangerous you wouldn’t be selling them. One thing i did agree with you is do not buy cheap. The second you add anything after market your vehicle begins to degrade just like driving does. 😂
Look at a video of an accident that happened last week in northwest Los Angeles (Chatsworth) on the 118 freeway. It does look like spacers were on the front wheels. The left front wheel popped off, immediately rolled into the next lane and a car hit it, going into the air and flipping. That guy is lucky to be alive. If spacers were used, I wonder what was done was street legal.

If you just bought new wheels and need to adjust the offset after, YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG WHEELS lmao. Spacers can be safe and fine in a perfect world sure, but 100% you’re better off NOT using them. Flat out. It’s another maintenance point that’s not there without them. Maybe you’ll never have a problem, maybe you will. Compare how many wheels you see fall off with and without spacers and be your own judge 🙃
I recently bought a lifted 2004 Jeep liberty, and it came with a set of 17" 2016 Rubicon wheels on it, as well as questionable quality 1.5" spacers. A tire shop just refused to do an alignment and adjust the parking brake for me because they simply won't touch anything with spacers due to potential liability. I've made the decision to buy some new wheels with the correct backspacing, ditch the spacers, and sell the Wrangler wheels. Both for my sanity and my safety.

Great info thanks! So I have a 2021 Bronco Sport 4x4. There's seemingly a very limited amount of wheels for them to be able to provide a broader stance. I'd like the wheels to still out but most I'm finding for it run flush so I'm researching spacers. I'm looking to add some BF Goodrich KO2's which I can put on my 18" stocks that come on the Outer Banks model but I can only go about a 245/60/18 -which they do not make in the K02. The closest & widest I can put on the stock rims are 255/55/18. I wanna go higher than a 55 sidewall but with a wider tire I lose height. Hopefully you all may have some options to share as I have not even found any vids with Bronco Sports having neg offset, deeper non flush wheels & even having spacers added to gain that more aggressive look. Any pointers would be great -thanks!
I just put a 1.5" inch level lift on my 2021 BS. I wanted to put 245/65R18. But they don't have 65's to fit on 18 inch rims, only 65R17. So I went with 245/60R18 Wild Peak AT Trails
I was thinking of adding some spacers or get wheels with a lower offer set to position the tire out from the center line to make the Jeep more stable in turns does that make since and is doing so making the Jeep safer or not?

I'm sure Bora makes a nice product but, that's crazy. Especially if you're just daily driving your vehicle.
For an extra hundred a half you can buy wheels
Alot of manufacturers use T6061 billet cnc hubcentric wheel spacers now such as supreme suspensions
How quickly everyone blames a spacer for changing scrub radius but they change wheel offsets all the time …. With the same effect on the vehicle.
I know a dude daily driving 3 2in spacers on 16 wides and tows goosenecks often no issues. But he goes through wheel bearings like no tomorrow. I got 14 wides and off road they are horrific. But a dedicated trail rig? No I wouldn't. Stance dosent work for trail rigs
Slapped on a set of spider trax spacers on my wrangler a few months back. Wished I saw this video earlier, bora is cheaper and same grade. Have no complaints with spider trax blue looks rad
My spider Trax were cheaper 🤷
My two door Wrangler goes over 100 mph just with 33s
I see this is an older video, but I have a 23 JLU Rubicon and I want to keep the stock rims as I like the look of stock Jeeps. I am going to be putting 35x12.50x17 on and would like to know which of the spacers you sell I can use. Keep this in mind as well, I do not wish to have to trim the studs on the stock hub as I may change my mind on the rims down the road as I get more aggressive with the mods.
I’m looking at the bora spacer but there aluminum and steel I need it for my 2018 Tacoma which one is better…I just need 1.25 Inch for my 34s, is it safe for daily driving and weekends off-roading…
Im looking for the same 2011 6" lift on 35x12.50s an rubs on sway bar on full turn ,so got some 1.25" spacers also but haven't put them on yet still hesitant lol
Slightly more wear for better performance offroad. I wouldn't run them on a racer, but offroad hell yeah for sure. If your going far enough to need spacers, you already upgraded everything else.
I have a 2016 Silverado 2500HD that I upgraded the wheels and tires to 10x20 Moto's and 33.5x11.3 Toyo tires.
I have a 2021 Rubicon, can I install spacers on a stock wheel, I dont want my rig to look stupid or have safety concerns.
Does anyone know what size spacers I should run on the rear of a 2002 Silverado 2500hd to match the front wheels (stock wheels & height)
I own lifted ifs chevy. Lift kit calls for minimum 18 wheels due to taller steering knuckle and tie rod ends. Would a spacer work on a 17" wheel to clear tie rod ends ?
It NEVER amazes me the ways GM can screw things up!
I have a 1996 F-150 and I want a good stance but love my current wheels, will running spacers mess with my manual locking hubs?
They’ll go right over them just fine I have some on my F150
Oooo! This is critical! Thanks for the heads up.
I have a 2012 charger what size should I get? I also have the eibach pro kit on my car.
Hi. I have been looking for 1.5 inch washers for my 1978 Chevrolet Cheyenne c10 for a long time. 5x5. I'm from Europe and I'm not sure about the selection on the internet. Can you advise? Thank you. Martin
Should be something we can help get sent over to you. Just shoot us an email sometime!
I have a new 2022 trailblazer and I just want it to have a little bit of a stocky stance to it so I purchased 1.5 inch Aerospace grade Billet Aluminum set of for coming with new 225/60/17 to-yo open country AT III tires on the way. I’m not about being aggressive or going off-road it’s more of the look for me. What are your thoughts?
I have a 2010 extended cab Silverado. I’m needing to push my wheels out a bit after my leveling kit. I’m gonna get a set for the front for sure but i want to match the spacing in the back. Can use the same set for the front in the back? I also have drum brakes in the back. Thanks!
You could definitely run the same specs for the front and back. I would check out some of the builds in our gallery first to see what setups you like the most and follow those pretty identically! www.trailbuiltoffroad.com/wheel-offset-gallery?sort=yno&year=2010&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado%201500&drive=4WD
I have installed 30mm wheel spacers after a 2 inch suspension lift on Prado.
The wheels are still stock.
I have 3 options.
Should I get -12 offset and remove spacers?
Or
Keep spacers with stock wheels
Or
Get -12 offset and let the wheel spacers be there..
Which spacers would you recommend for a 2003 2500hd Chevy duramax with bfgoodrich all terrain t/a no lift and on stock rims
I don't know if I would even throw spacers on it to be honest! Check out this setup in our gallery they are running some 33" tires with no lift and no spacers and it looks pretty clean still! Would you maybe consider bigger tires or a small lift? www.trailbuiltoffroad.com/wheel-offset-gallery/1363441/2003-chevrolet-silverado-1500-fuel-maverick-oem-stock
I have a 2020 Nissan titan pro4x with a 2.5 front lift and right frt tire rubs the frame on a tight right turn with stock tires an wheels and wondered if spacers will work as going to put 33/12.5/18 tires real soon
Lol my rig can go 120mph no problem. I need an inch spacer for the front. Is ok to run only one inch?
I'm curious why spacers are designed the way they are, what with all the extra holes and lugs to attach spacer to hub, then wheel to spacer. Why not just have spacers with simple straight through holes, and use a set of appropriately longer lugs, so that the lug goes all the way through wheel spacer and hub. This would simplify their manufacture, and could somewhat solve the torqueing difficulties too.
lot more effort to pound out every stud and install new studs, turns labor intensive job into a simple bolt on.
Was looking to put spacers on my 2007 highlander and was wondering if one inch or 2 inch would be better
I personally would upgrade the wheels first before running spacers, but if new wheels aren't in the cards right now then go with the 1" spacer. 😎✌💯
I have a 3-inch lift kit on my 2015 JK Jeep Wrangler I was thinking about getting some spacers for my tires but I was wondering if the size would matter at all if you're talkin about accommodating to lift kit.
Do you rub now or have any fitment issues with how your setup is currently?
Is it ok to run 1.25" spacers on the front only? i dont need them on the rear. thougths? i have a cj7
Is it ok to tow with aluminum spacers? Thinking of getting 2" spacers for my 15 Silverado 1500 but do tow a 6000-7000 lbs travel trailer a few times a yr.
Bora makes super good spacers, I have 1.75 on my 2015 Silverado 12 wides
Put some spacers on my gladiator 2 years ago. Looks really good and no problems at all.
Hi, what spacers do you recommend for Honda Civic Coupe 2017?
Depends on what kind of stance you are looking for! Did you have any ideas by chance?
Would it be ok to install 1" spacer to the front and 2" spaceronto the rear with stock high and stock tire no lifting
You would be okay, your setup will just be staggered
Teraflex 1.75” Wheel Offset Adapter Kit, works for me... Wrangler WILLYS 2021 JLU...
Okay question. I have a Rv and would it be fine to put a spacer between the dually wheels for a wider stance
I hope someone can answer this I’m oddly curious.
@@AyySpaceship me too, if it helps total weight is 6789 pounds. That’s just as heavy or even lighter than some regular pickup truck duallys that are running spacers
I have a 2021 sr5. I was thinking about getting 1.25 inch spacers just for looks. I don't go off road at all. What do you think, good or bad idea. Thanks...
same here
Will they help with tire clearance in the wheel well?
They can help when it comes to making a full turn!
“We know your Rigs can’t go that fast?” Lol I do 80 mph in a school zone on a Monday morning in my 2016 f150….
You win 😂😂😂
For the price of these things, you could have e purchased the correct rim offset or correct lift size to accommodate those tires. OUCH! $800 for spacers? You guys are crazy.
Sometimes the wheels and tires that people want are not available for months on end. This is definitely a good alternative!
I just bought 1.5" hub centric spacers for my 2016 Wrangler online for $200 for a set of four. Not from Bora Bora. 😂
Decent aftermarket wheels $1200 plus. Some people like their stock wheels with added offset of spacers is WAY cheaper than nee wheels.
how about 1.5 inch on ram 1500 spacer.what u recommended?
Look at a video of an accident that happened last week in northwest Los Angeles (Chatsworth) on the 118 freeway. It does look like spacers were on the front wheels. The left front wheel popped off, immediately rolled into the next lane and a car hit it, going into the air and flipping. That guy is lucky to be alive. If spacers were used, I wonder what was done was street legal.
This is Clickbait all he did was stamp his logo on the side of that wheel adapter a.k.a. spacer😂😂😂
I have a 16 Rebel and wanna use the wheels and tires of 20 Rebel. How can I go from 5 lug to 6 lug?
I would like to get some spacers 2 inches for my Kia Soul 2010 , are available? For it ?
Can you use locktite on spacers?
It is optional I would say but only as long as you are using quality lugs, and properly torque your wheels with a torque wrench!
I'm confused as to what spacer and adapter to install on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara..
HELP!!!!
As in are you looking for what size you should go with?
@@TrailBuilt yes
Depends on the size of the setup you are interested in, I really like this Jeep in our gallery and they are running 1.75" spacers! I would check out some of the other Wrangler's in our gallery to see what spacer size setup you like the most! www.trailbuiltoffroad.com/wheel-offset-gallery/1175854/2015-jeep-wrangler-fuel-battle-axe-teraflex-suspension-lift-25in
If you just bought new wheels and need to adjust the offset after, YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG WHEELS lmao.
So don’t buy them unless they buy yours are they safe or not?
I recently bought a lifted 2004 Jeep liberty, and it came with a set of 17" 2016 Rubicon wheels on it, as well as questionable quality 1.5" spacers. A tire shop just refused to do an alignment and adjust the parking brake for me because they simply won't touch anything with spacers due to potential liability. I've made the decision to buy some new wheels with the correct backspacing, ditch the spacers, and sell the Wrangler wheels. Both for my sanity and my safety.
Take spacers off before you take it to the shop
Spider Trax is another great option.
Can I run 1.5 wheel spacers on my Nissan Titan pro 4x 2021 ?
You could! Are you running any aftermarket wheels or a aftermarket suspension? Or is your Titan stock at the moment?
Can you send me a link for the Bora spacers? The link above is no longer working. I can't seem to find them for my 2018 4runner TRDORP anywhere. Thanks!!

Are those Jeep Shots from Tail Recon?
Is dyno a good spacer company?
Good day all, I have a 2021 Ranger Tremor and looking for any suggestions for wheel spacers. I am having a tough time trying to find spacers for the Tremor, just want to make sure I get the right fit before purchasing. I am looking at a max of 1.5 spacers, but would like to hear from anyone who tried spacers on the Tremor or not to do it at all?? Thanks

Hi Guys for Lexus Gx 470 I need help to finding the best suits ..... what kind of spacer i need for 265/65/R17 tyres as I have a spacer installed but it is not fixing it properly from the inner side of the hub.
Around how much are some good 2in spacers

@@TrailBuilt any challenger spacers
need advise...i have a 2023 trailboss LT all stock on 20inch tires. what size spacers should I get 1.5 or 2.0 inch
Thank You!!
I have the same. I went with 1.5” because from looking at pictures of both, the 1.5” is all I need plus I feel like the 1.5” will place less stress on the ball joints and tie rod ends.
@@winchestermodel7044 Thx for info....much appreciated
Are these hub-centric spacers?
Yes, they are!
Any1 else run maxxis razr mt? Just got a set. Want to know what to expect.
I’ve seen wheel studs broken on the dempster highway…..good luck yall
Im running half-inch spacers on a Mustang. I literally have no difference in steering.
Always good info. Thanks.
I was thinking of adding some spacers or get wheels with a lower offer set to position the tire out from the center line to make the Jeep more stable in turns does that make since and is doing so making the Jeep safer or not?
I bought the same ones, my rear wheels came off on the highway at 80 mph. I just got out of the hospital
Maybe that’s why the tires on my charger was getting ate up and blowing out on me 👀🤦🏽♂️
Edit out the first 3:40 seconds of needless jargon and the content gets better.
Still too wordy. Simplify your message. Trying creating an outline and say as few words possible to convey each point.
Wheel spacers = worn wheel bearings and other components.
Rim offset and if it still doesn't fit start trimming.
ETA LOL he mentioned what I just said @ 4:00 Stay away.
Only 2 inch + spacers. Less than that and it really isn't a big deal.
ive personally never seen or heard of anybody have an issue with spacers
We know what we're doing over here💪
Sorry, I don't trust anyone that tucks their ears into a hat.
😂
I’ve had a set of spacers on my track prepped Porsche from H&R for 20 years with no issues what so ever. I think what you meant is don’t buy cheap spacers for your non well engineered shit box. Fixed.
People need spacers to clear big brake kits and widen wheels for corners and handling 😂
