One of the lesser known so called hair band but Don's unique voice and George Lynch's excellent guitar skills definitely stand out among their peers and George is still wildly active these days. One of the best rock/metal guitarists of his or any other era.
Alone Again by Dokken is one of my all-time fav songs. It is one of the deepest, most soulful guitar solos ever written. It is definitely in my playlist.
WooHoo! You found Dokken. They had a series of good albums and a bunch of great songs. Don Dokken has a great voice and George Lynch is an amazing guitarist. They weren't a small time band though. They got picked up by Van Halen to be in their Monsters of Rock stadium tour along with Metallica and Scorpions. (it was a great concert) They even did a theme songs for Freddy Krueger's - Nightmare on Elm Street 3. - If you liked Dokken, you should also try Ratt & Tesla.
Dokken: "Just got lucky", "Into the fire", "In my dreams" and yes George Lynch is a guitar god. He was one of the big 3 guitarists in the L.A. music scene with Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoades back in the late 70s
If you like this song you'll love Dream Warriors,In My Dreams,Heaven Sent. Fun fact if you don't already know Dokkens Dream Warriors was featured in Nightmare On Elm Street 3:Dream Warriors. Their video for Dream Warriors features Freddy.
OMG, I have to see the video for "Dream Warriors" now! I am a HUGE "Nightmare on Elm Street" fan! Number 3 is easily the best sequel in the franchise imo.
Thanks for finally giving Dokken a listen! If you aren't completely sold on them yet, please do a reaction to "Walk Away". It's such a beautiful ballad, and it really shows off Don's vocal capabilities. Also, as someone else mentioned in the comments, please check out "I'll Never Let You Go" by Steelheart. Lastly, I highly recommend "The End of the Dream" by Evanescence (the live performance from their Synthesis tour). I think you'll love all of these songs!

Mick is a great drummer, Jeff an absolutely awesome bass player, George Lynch is one of the best guitar players ever, and Don Dokken was one of the best vocalists of the 80s. He can't now hit the notes in quite the same way but he was awesome in his time. They just had the misfortune of getting lumped in with a ton of other bands that came out at the same time and were tragically overlooked by a lot of people. It also hurt that Don and George could never get along.
Dokken was huge in my high school years. They did the theme song to the second or third Nightmare on Elm Street movie. That song was titled Dream Warriors and it was/is a banger. I love Dokken. Lots of great tracks from them.
Dokken is a top 3 band for me! One of the main bands of the L.A. scene in the 80's. George Lynch is such a FANTASTIC guitarist! Yiu need to check out more for sure!

So glad you reacted to this band! They are a killer band but only stayed on the edge of fame. They had several hits but people didn’t seem to realize how much better they were than many bands that were huge
One of the best bands of the eighties, so many great songs. Los Angeles in the mid eighties was like the wild west, you could get away with anything, hence the video. Record labels were arranging publicity stunts such as this on a regular basis. Dokken had a unique and instantly recognizable sound thanks to the vocal work of Don Dokken and the incredible guitar playing of George Lynch. Terribly underrated band. Still love their sound!
I've been following Dokken since they began and their catalog is impressive and George Lynch the guitarist is one of the GOAT's for sure. The whole band is top notch. Although considered part of the 80's hair metal scene, Dokken had bigger things on their mind than Aqua-net.:)
I love Dokken. This was such a cool video when it came out on MTV. The studio version is just a little over a minute longer than the MTV video though. The MTV video leaves out where the ex-girlfriend calls Dokken to try and get him back and he almost gives in but then comes to his senses and sings "It's not LOVE!" Your next Dokken song like so many below have already suggested should be "In My DREAMS" Anyways, good reaction. Keep them coming.
I grew up in the 80s and was a huge Dokken fan. I used to watch this video all the time. What is funny though is that I never noticed Dokken's reaction to his drummer fumbling the drumstick at the 1:52 mark in the Dokken video - 4:48 in this one. A lot of my friends that were Dokken fans never noticed it until I pointed it out. :) As for the comment that they were not playing while going, I was in LA when they filmed the video. They did play as they filmed this - it was sort of like U2 when they filmed that video on the roof of the record studio. They had the police shut down the filming because the crowd was so hard to control. Back then, laws were VERY different and had more lax enforcement. The semi would do the turns VERY slowly so inertia wasn't that much. Most of the route that they took was straight though.
One thing you may not have noticed, they have straps holding all the gear down to the trailer to keep it from rocking and sliding off when the truck makes turns or stops. you can see them pretty good if you look at the wedges (monitors) the band is using to hear themselves.
Another amazing band and a great reaction... I grew up listening to Dokken, they were one of my older brother's favorites. They have a ton of great songs in their catalogue.
Alone again, in my dreams, tooth and nail, the Hunter, bullets to spare, just got lucky, jaded heart, The Last Goodbye, Heart to Stone, dream warriors, kiss of death, burning like a flame, unchain the night, breaking the chains.....heres a few, there are so many good Dokken songs
To manygreat song from this band to list. "Alone Again", "Walk Away", "Tooth n Nail", "Heaven Sent", "In My Dreams", "Unchain the Night" etc.. If you want a great guitar solo, check out "Mr. Scary". Particularly the live version on the"Beast From the East" album. Love it!
Back in the summer of 88, I was heading in to my senior year of highschool. That summer had the best concert I ever went to...the Monsters of Rock tour. The opener was Metallica, then Dokken, then The Scorpions, and finished with Van Halen. I will never forget how awesome that day was. For Dokken suggestions, In My Dreams and Alone Again were their biggest hits. Heaven Sent, Tooth and Nail, and Burning Like a Flame are all really cool. For guitar, Mr. Scary is incredible, but no vocals in that one.
Hey Rob Squad fam, first my wife and I want to let you know that we love your channel and enjoy watching your reactions on the weekend while relaxing from our busy week, Congrats on your amazing family and your new addition Luca ! My wife introduced me to the Michael Stanley Band several yrs ago and I think you would love their music. Their lead singer and namesake, Michael Stanley recently passed but this band never got the recognition they so deserved. Here are a few of their songs that I recommend a reaction to, trust me, you will love the 80's vibe and Saxophone. "Lover", "Rosewood Bitters" , " Our Town" , "Someone Like You" and "He Can't Love You" :)
You should react to "In My Dreams" and "The Hunter" from Dokken. The former is a great power ballad and the latter is a great rock song from the band. Another great power ballad from Dokken is "Alone Again".
I was born in a time where I caught the Mega tour of Monsters of Rock!! This one concert was ALL major rock bands consisting of: Kingdom Come, Dokken, Metallica, Van Halen and Scorpions !!!! What a show! I think I still might have my tour shirt!🎉🎉
Jordan has to listen to Molly Hatchet,-(Flirtin with Disaster). Or Thin Lizzy,-(Jailbreak). He will love them. Amber you will too. 9/11 RIP to the fallen. Gone but not forgotten.🙏 20 years feels like 20 seconds.😔🙏
I was in a band for years and we performed on the back of a moving truck several times. It's a little weird at first but as long as you keep moving at slower steady pace it's all good. A lot of fun!
I have a band for you to listen to and comment on UA-cam. It is Sheriff, “when I’m with you”. This guy has “pipes” !! Sings very high and listen to how long he holds the final note of the song !! Phenomenal!!
Love Dokken, it's a shame they got lumped with all the hair metal bands. George Lynch is a beast on the guitar🤟 Should check out a band called Ratt, songs Lay It Down, Way Cool Jr, Back for More, Slip of the Lip, just to name a few.
Steelheart!!! Amazing underrated hair metal band!!!! Mili's amazing vocals are just a part of why they're so good. The guitars and drums are amazing too!!!!
Listen to Heaven Sent. Also Lost Behind the Wall. Both banging Dokken tracks. George goes off in both of those with his unique phrasing. Subbed. Love your reactions.
Dokken is definitely one of those underrated bands of the 90's. They had some radio hits, but just didn't draw as much attention as other bands of the era.
Dokken is still going. They just played on Fremont Street in Las Vegas last month. Don Dokken is the only original member now. George Lynch made a guest appearance he was great. Don's voice is shot now.
Some of these leaser known metal bands had some of the better music videos. Y&T doing “Summertime Girls” or Killer Dwarfs “Keep The Spirit Alive” are some other fun ones to check out.
Dream Warriors and Dokken was one of the best 80's "sorta" hair bands. You might like Winger if you like Dokken. Another band a little different playing while driving is Airbourne-Runnin Wild. Guest appearance by Lemmy.
I believe you have now been "Rockin' with Dokken!" 😄 Yeah, that was a saying. 🙂 A fun video/song at the tail end of the hair rock time was Give It To Me Good by Trixter...or One in a Million by them as well. Slaughter was a good band too. Mark Slaughter's voice was really good. Fly to the Angels or Up All Night were good.
First timer here. I just subscribed. I've loved this band since the 80s! That's how I found you guys! They were awesome back then. Their lyrics were awesome too. You should check out, JADED HEART, ALONE AGAIN, and Don't lie to me.All of their songs are great but those 3 plus this one are my favorites. I like you guys!
I was in a band, back in the day... We were just a cover band, having a good time. We did Dokken, Led Zep, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Van Halen, Survivor, the Eagles, etc. Occasionally we would switch instruments, I played keyboards, bass, and switched to drums for this one. Great memories! Thanks!
Another great song idea, if you want a whole other side of Guns n Roses then listen to Patience. It's a beautiful love song by Axl with Slash playing acoustic guitar. Axl whistles and sings the tune. It is insanely good, but different than most of their stuff!
The Hunter Into the fire Breaking the chains Burning like a flame Walk away From the beginning Just a few gems from this greatly under appreciated band. How about this intro, one of the best openings riffs ever imo
I think this is the first time I've seen anyone react to Dokken, and that says a lot about your channel. They were our go to band in the late 80's, and their music is awesome.
This takes me back! Dokken was my band, back in my high school days. You should check out their video for Dream Warriors, from the Nightmare on Elm Street 3 soundtrack.
I’m so glad you both loved it! This is my absolute favorite band from the ‘80s glam metal scene! If you haven’t already, you absolutely should check out either “Into the Fire” or “In My Dreams”.
I used to pasture surf on the back of a flatbed. The stable I worked at had horses in a pasture close to the main complex - The owner would drive the flatbed and I would bust open bales of hay and throw it over for the horses, drop buckets of grain in feeders while moving. It takes practice. You have to keep your knees unlocked like if you are on a trampoline and wanting to stop. It isn't playing a guitar, but it also isn't a smooth street and standing still. 80's headbangers appreciate Dokken.
You don't know how happy I am right now. First songs, Breakin' the Chains, great song very silly video. Into the Fire, Just Got Lucky and In My Dreams where they play in the rain. Now this video. I was living in California when this was filmed. Those two radio stations you see their logos were the biggest hard rock/metal stations around. The call went out on the radio that Dokken was doing something crazy and to come out to the Sunset strip in Hollywood if you wanted to be part of it. They are actually playing but not the same song and they are being driven but in short segments where the road is mostly closed off. Some of their friends in other bands got to be in the video too. I was in the Marines at the time and about 80 miles away and had no car, unfortunely. Missed out on some history there. I loved Dokken back in the 80s and they were quite popular. If you took the thrash analogy of a big 4 of hair metal it would be Motley Crue, Ratt, Dokken and W.A.S.P. they were the bands that kind of hit at the right time between 80 and 82. All of these bands were harder on their first couple of albums. Motley Crue kind of issued in the glam look by everybody with the huge success of Theater of Pain. Then they dropped it on the next album but the damage was done. Little known fact for most people not really into this music. The 80s was starting in the 70s and then Punk happened. Most of the early bands that were popular in the 80s were playing the clubs and building a reputation and then suddenly no one would take their calls. They had to wait it out and reinvent themselves, mostly, to find popularity. Don Dokken trying to get this band started is quite a interesting story.
Dokken was a solid band, a great melodic metal act that in some ways has a Scorpians feel. They weren't just another ugh "hair" band. Don Dokken was a great vocalist and George Lynch was on par with the likes of Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoades. Another song you might like is Breaking the chains. I also recommend Paris is Burning which was live but on their debut Breaking the Chains, Into the fire, and Tooth & nail which happened to be a more driving heavier song. BTW AC/DC did a similar video on the back of a truck a few years earlier with it's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll.
There is a lot more Amber. Seriously, grant them a chance. Choose; UNCHAIN THE NIGHT + HEAVENT SENT + KISS OF DEATH + TOOTH & NAIL + TURN UP THE ACTION AND POWER BALLAD ALONE AGAIN AND BOMBS OF POWER LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN OR TIL THE LIVING END.

Yeah, they aint driving that fast.. a trot pace for people on sidewalk,
and the drum cage & gear are very secure for hanging onto
Seen these guys in ‘89 and then in 2018! Still rock!
Great band, features George Lynch on guitar who always appears on a list of top 100 guitar players.
They are one of the most under-rated bands ever. So good.
Queensryche : Silent Lucidity
Autograph: Turn up the radio
Mr Big: Addicted to that Rush
Just got lucky and in my dreams by Dokken
I hope you guys will play this songs on the next reaction great stuff by this band.. stay frosty my friends🤘
YES! Memphis Liberty Bowl was the same line up with another underrated band Kingdom Come opening! STRAIGHT FIRE!!!
U2 - The Streets Have No Name. Filmed on the top of a building. It stopped traffic in downtown Los Angeles. 💕
Great one! Also made me think of Sunday bloody Sunday filmed at Red Rocks Amphitheater
Also new years day rocks!
An idea they stole from the Beatles, quite frankly.
This one concert was ALL major rock bands consisting of:
Kingdom Come, Dokken, Metallica, Van Halen and Scorpions !!!!
Dokken is a great rock group! Other songs from them ...... 'In My Dreams, Alone Again, Into The Fire, Dream Warriors, Heaven Sent!!'
80's hair band fronted by Don Dokken.
Alone Again, In My Dreams, and Into the Fire are more from them
Mr.Scary
Love Alone Again
Heaven Sent, Lynch kills the solo.
Great to see my favourite Hair Guitar Band getting some ❤
Love Dokken, it's a shame they got lumped with all the hair metal bands. George Lynch is a beast on the guitar🤟 Should check out a band called Ratt, songs Lay It Down, Way Cool Jr, Back for More, Slip of the Lip, just to name a few.
Amber, you would enjoy Heaven Sent. Alone Again is a heavy ballad that you would enjoy. So many songs by them to enjoy.
Steelheart!!! Amazing underrated hair metal band!!!! Mili's amazing vocals are just a part of why they're so good. The guitars and drums are amazing too!!!!
Amber Alert🚨🚨🚨
Do Steelheart!
Listen to Heaven Sent. Also Lost Behind the Wall. Both banging Dokken tracks. George goes off in both of those with his unique phrasing. Subbed. Love your reactions.
Dokken is one of my favorite bands from the 80's. They have a lot of good songs. That video was done on the LA strip. A yes they were unrated
Dokken was huge for me in High school. Good to see younger folks digging the 80's rock.
Dokken is definitely one of those underrated bands of the 90's. They had some radio hits, but just didn't draw as much attention as other bands of the era.
80's* - they disbanded in 88
Dokken is still going. They just played on Fremont Street in Las Vegas last month. Don Dokken is the only original member now. George Lynch made a guest appearance he was great. Don's voice is shot now.
Tooth and nail is heavy and one of their best. Very under rated song. You won't regret it
Some of these leaser known metal bands had some of the better music videos.
A fun video/song at the tail end of the hair rock time was Give It To Me Good by Trixter...or One in a Million by them as well.
Steelheart
"I'll Never Let You Go"
"She's Gone"
"Can't Stop Me Loving You"
Official vids.
Amber Alert🚨🚨🚨
Steelheart, do it!
A little boring for a reaction video, no?
@@POWER-LINKS I don't think so. It's such a good song and shows Axl's range and Slash's skills too
I've suggest this before as well!
@@POWER-LINKS Not at all - it's great!
YESSSS. Just want more GNR in general but they'll love Patience. Amber also needs to hear November Rain because only Jay heard it.
I was obsessed with Dokken in the 80’s.I saw them in concert and they sounded great live.
The Hunter
Into the fire
Breaking the chains
Burning like a flame
Walk away
From the beginning
Just a few gems from this greatly under appreciated band. How about this intro, one of the best openings riffs ever imo
Heavens Trail.
Was gonna suggest the same song.
Oh. Yay for you two! A bold reaction choice! One of the most amazing bands you will ever hear.
I recommend. M people don't look any further. Great band great tune
I’m so glad you both loved it! This is my absolute favorite band from the ‘80s glam metal scene! If you haven’t already, you absolutely should check out either “Into the Fire” or “In My Dreams”.
If you're interested in hearing more from The Beach Boys, "God Only Knows" is a MUST LISTEN!
I agree!
Absolutely
One of the greatest songs ever written 🙌
Thanks for checking out one of the bands from my youth. They are still near and dear to me and their music always takes me back.
Guitar legend for Jay
Eddie Van Halen “Eruption”

you guys seem like wonderfully emotional people, making reactions is the perfect match for you. man, hugs from Germany.
Dokken’s “Breaking The Chains” is not only a great song, but the video is the epitome of cheesy 80s rock videos! Y’all have to watch it!
Agreed. :-)
You should dive into Little Richard. Tutti Frutti and Long Tall Sally are bangers.
Have yall done Ratt, yet? Round and round....
Yes!! This would be a great introduction to Ratt.
Dokken "Burnin like a flame" one of my faves
