Absolutely! And another weird note to that: while they were recording that album, Lynch decided to take classes at GIT in Hollywood. I imagine having him as a classmate must have freaked out some of the kids taking classes at MI at that time.
Yes!!! Great one. BUT, after my recent divorce that my wife wanted after 12 years, just a couple years ago that song hits me in the package and I cry because it has a lot of meaning to me now
This is from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors which is a fan favorite by a lot of people. This song was written for the movie and was originally released as a single on February 10th, 1987. It was also released on Dokken's fourth album Back for the Attack which came out on November 2nd, 1987.
Don Dokken-singer George Lynch-guitar Jeff Pilson-bass Mick Brown-drums The Skull N Bones guitar is a signature piece of George’s. It’s first appearance was in the video for “It’s Not Love”… Do that tune next.
I was thinking the same thing but also taking it a little further. Any song you want to hear or react to, check if it's on Beast from the East and play that version!
Lead singer, Don Dokken, was operatically trained. That's why he can hit those notes with such ease. Although, he said it took many takes in the studio for him to reach that final note at the end of the video.
That happened with Geoff Tate from Queensryche. Just with getting older and his voice changing he has not been able to hit the same notes on songs from The Order or Operation Mindcrime.
@@inrockwetrust73 As we get older our diaphragms loosen up, and for singers like Tate with an "operatic" style, it's very noticeable when that starts to happen. Don Dokken was a phenomenal singer back in the day. You should check out "Kiss of Death" , "Lightning Strikes", "Seven Thunders", or "Paris is Burning"...the vocals and riffs are amazing. Don Dokken (vocals) had been in the L.A. scene since the 70's... he formed Dokken in the early 80's and helped raise the profile of the L.A. rock metal bands like Motley Crue, Ratt, Armored Saint, etc. The band was w/ George Lynch (guitar), Mick Brown (drums) and Jeff Pilson (bass)...originally, Ratt bassist Juan Croucier was in Dokken and recorded their debut album 'Breaking the chains'. After 4 studio albums and 1 stellar live album, Dokken split acrimoniously in 1988... Don Dokken released a solo album 'Up from the ashes' in 1990... Jeff Pilson joined Dio for a while... Finally, the classic Dokken reunited in 1994 and released the album 'Dysfunctional' in the 90's grunge era... but the same issues between Don & George led to the guitarist leaving by 1998... When the movie went to video, (back when we had video rental stores) this music video was added to the end. And that is how I discovered Dokken. 🤣 The actress in the video is Patricia Arquette. I liked her in Medium. Ohh there is a making of where Don and Jeff and telling Robert (Freddy) to go to the liquor store in full on Freddy makeup. LOL
You gotta do Tooth and Nail with the seamless into called "Without Warning" it's meant to be the intro for "Tooth and Nail". Jay you are gonna rock fiercely to this!!!!! It kicks off their first album in a big way.
Dokken's guitarist George Lynch formed a band in 2014 called KXM (with Dug Pinnick of King's X, and Ray Luzier of Korn). They recorded some amazing songs. You REALLY need to check them out (along with some of the early songs from King's X).

Patricia Arquet was the actress in the video and in Nightmare on Elm Street 3, She's done a lot of great movie. Her Brother David was Dewey in Scream, her sister Rosanna was the wife of the red haired guy in Pulp fiction, Eric Stoltz that gave John Travolta the crazy drugs, her "sister" Alexis was George in the Wedding Singer.
If you're "of a certain age" and still remember VCR players 😉, this music video preceded and introduced the film Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, on the VHS release.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAY!🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂I’m honored to be one of your very first “50” subscribers. As soon as I saw the look on your face, the day you watched “ ACDC-THUNDERSTRUCK” for very first time. And very first reaction. I hit subscribe!! Because that’s EXACTLY how I felt in 1980 when I was 9 and heard them for very first time. Fell in love with ANGUS YOUNG same day!!
Yeah, this is essentially the title track for the soundtrack of this movie. BTW, the woman in the video is Patricia Arquette. She was also in the movie "Stigmata" and had a TV show called "Medium" where she portrayed a real life medium. This song also appears on the 4th Dokken studio album, "Back for the Attack." I think it's between this album and their third studio offering, "Under Lock and Key" as being their best albums. You commented on Don's voice. He was greatly influenced by Klaus Meine, the lead singer of the Scorpions. You can hear it in his somewhat nasaly tone. This is a band that should have been bigger than they were. But they had some internal problems they never seemed to be able to move past. Killer band with killer songs.
Happy Birthday J! You guys should really do some KXM! It's Ray Luzier (drums) from Korn, Dug Pinnick (bass and vocals) from Kings X, George Lynch (guitars) from Dokken and Lynch Mob. I know you would love them! Unfortunately, Don Dokken's voice has not held up over time.
It's a shame. The Voice is the most fragile musical instrument, and very few can maintain it over many decades. Did and even Bruce Dickenson are rarities. Sadly, Don Dokken (and Axel) are more the rule than the exception. It's just a shame how bad Don's voice is now. Couldn't bring myself to see them when they came to my city a couple of summers back. I didn't want the hollow husk of Don with his voice, a shell of its former glory to ruin the memories.
Happy Birthday!!! I watch hall daily and I really enjoyed the artists joining you. There are some kickass Dokken ones in “It’s NOt Love” and “Just Got Lucky”
Hey Jay, in reference to George Lynch's guitar, that he'd used in this video, George had since donated that guitar to the Hard Rock Cafe (in Los Vegas, if I remember correctly), basically stating that the guitar was warped and that it sounded terrible Also, the full lineup of Dokken is as follows: George Lynch - Guitar Jeff Pilson - Bass Mick Brown - Drums Don Dokken - Lead Vocals
Congratulations to Jordan!! And also congratulations to the channel. I love the new series with the creators. It looks like you enjoyed recording them. All your time and efforts are worth it!
That particular movie of the franchise is the corniest, with the most creative kill scenes and more psychotic jokes from Freddy than any of the others. And this is the title track of the soundtrack, which plays through the closing credits.
The horror king of Hollywood, Wes Craven reinvented the horror genre when he wrote and directed the original "A Nightmare On Elm Street," which spawned 6 sequels. He conceived and co-wrote the story and screenplay for "A Nightmare On Elm Street 3." He wrote and directed "Wes Craven's New Nightmare," which presented a story that blurred the line between film and reality. He also directed the first four "Scream" movies. RIP
The guitar is called Mr. Scary. You can find them online if you want to add it to the collection. The guitarist is George Lynch. Look him up and find several cool guitars.
This was the theme song for the third "A Nightmare on Elm Street" movie, featuring the supernatural serial killer Freddy Krueger and the teenage "dream warriors" who faced him down. You can see scenes from the movie interspersed throughout the music video.
Yes, DOKKEN be ROKKEN it. In high school they were my band. Songs you need to check out Heaven Sent, Lightning Strikes Again, Alone Again, I'm sure you'll get a bunch more recommendations George Lynch is the guitarist there's an instrumental called Mr. Scary y'all will dig it. You can check out George Lynch's solo band Lynch Mob check out Wicked Sensation. Anyways love your channel.
Alone Agan, just walk away, into the fire are some more greats from this band. I used lock myself in my room and practice hitting those high notes. Don Dokken and George Lynch are truly one of the great vocal guitar duos of all time. Happy birthday Jay!
Dokken's "Dream Warriors" is a heavy metal anthem from the iconic horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors." The song's commercial success is tied to its use in the movie, which helped popularize it as a Halloween staple. The music video, featuring the band battling Freddy Krueger, is a nostalgic trip back to the '80s, with top-notch production value and heavy metal magic. It's a must-watch for horror fans and a testament to the song's enduring popularity.
Oh you totally ain't old Jay. Happy birthday. And what a great song to do on your birthday too I love dream warriors! This happens to be my favorite song by Dokken
We Are the World” is the heartfelt song “Tears Are Not Enough”. This charity single was recorded by a supergroup of Canadian artists under the name Northern Lights. The purpose was to raise funds for famine relief efforts. Gordon Lightfoot, Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, Joni Mitchell ect.
Heaven sent, Unchain the Night, Breaking the Chains, Into the Fire, The Hunter, You just got Lucky, Burning like a Flame, In my Dreams. All bangers by Dokken
Donny Dokken was one of my favorite singers of all time back in the day. Sadly, he's not longer able to produce the range and tone that he had... but I'm thankful to him for pumping out so many gems over the years. If you want a treat, look up 'We are Stars'. It's the metal equivalent of 'We are the World' to support Hear N Aid, put together by Ronnie James Dio. Donny was one of the vocalists involved along with several other rock Gods and a dozen quitarists shared the solo. You guys will love it.
Happy Birthday, J! Dokken was 1 of the Biggest hair bands of the mid 80s and early 90s. Don Dokken now sings in a lower register, he can't hit those high notes anymore. George Lynch is still 1 of The Baddest Guitarist on the Planet!🤘🏽
Lost behind the wall, Prisoner, In My Dreams, Unchain the night, Tooth and nail, Heaven Sent, Night by night, Burning like a flame, Kiss of death. just to name a few by Dokken
ROB SQUAD, once again you guys are in my 80s hair band wheelhouse!! In 1985 or 86 I got the pleasure of attending a Monsters of Rock concert down in Miami Florida!! The lineup was Metallica, Dokken, the Scorpions, Van Halen, and Kingdom Come, who I don't think you guys have reacted to yet!! How's THAT for a lineup!!!???? Dokken had to either pause their set or cut it short because a HUGE thunderstorm rolled in when they were on stage!!😮😮
I can't remember the last time I clicked on one of your videos so fast. And yes, this is from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. That was Robert Englund and Patricia Arquette reprising their roles and reenacting scenes from the movie. Btw, Happy Birthday Jay
One of the aspects of the 80s that I loved was the Hair Metal that was in commercial horror films. This one, ''He's Back (The Man Behond the Mask)'' from Alice Cooper, ''Scream Until You Like It'' from WASP and ''Love Kills'' from Vinnie Vincent Invasion were other examples from the films of Freddy and Jason. What a decade! And what a voice! Don Dokken had one of the best ''Hair Metal'' voice out there. In that song, when he sings ''When i close my eyes, i realiiiiize...'' Incredible.
Aahhhh, one regret in my life is that I was standing about 5 feet behind Don Dokken at a concert many years ago and was too chicken to say hello and get an autograph. 🤦♀️ You can’t go wrong with Dokken! For vocals and guitar, please, if you’d like and are able, listen to What Love Can Be by Kingdom Come! The vocals are like butter. 🥰 Happy birthday Jay! 🎉
Happy Birthday!!! Don Dokken is the singer. The signature sound of the band though was George Lynch's guitar. He was one of the big 3 guitarists in the L.A. Rock scene during the late 70s, along with Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen.
Dokken is awesome. George is an amazing guitarist and though they had internal friction in the band, it was what helped to make some of the best songs. This is the theme song for A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, which is one of the best in the franchise. Don Dokken - vocals George Lynch - guitar Jeff Pilson - bass Mick Brown - drums
There’s actually another Dokken song that the female lead listens to in the same movie called “Into the Fire”. If you want a much heavier, more metallic side of Dokken, you would love that song! I know I do but I’m biased because this is easily my favorite heavy metal band!
Thank you for the reaction... great song. One of my favorites by Dokken is a ballad called "Alone Again". I'd love to see you listen to that one. Have a Happy Birthday! Sorry I'm a day late.

Alexis was also the guy that tried and failed to shoot Jules and Vincent in the apartment!
In My Dreams and Alone Again need to be added soon✌️❤️ hair metal... Happy birthday, J!
Yes Friends!
Thanks for getting back to my favourite Metal Band! ❤A Happy Birthday Jay❤
If you're "of a certain age" and still remember VCR players 😉, this music video preceded and introduced the film Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, on the VHS release.
Don Dokken is lead, George Lynch Guitar, Wild Mick Brown on Drums, Jeff Pilson on Bass
You share a birthday with my son. Happy birthday, young man. I can call you young I'm in my 60's. Lol
Don dokken was one of my fave singers back then. I loved all of their songs, they have so many good ones.
Loved Dokken a huge sounding band with very high production values- totally sophisticated! Thanks for choosing this !
The ending of this music video always cracks me up lol happy bday jay
Happy Birthday!!! I watch hall daily and I really enjoyed the artists joining you. There are some kickass Dokken ones in “It’s NOt Love” and “Just Got Lucky”
Hey Jay, in reference to George Lynch's guitar, that he'd used in this video, George had since donated that guitar to the Hard Rock Cafe (in Los Vegas, if I remember correctly), basically stating that the guitar was warped and that it sounded terrible
Also, the full lineup of Dokken is as follows:
George Lynch - Guitar
Jeff Pilson - Bass
Mick Brown - Drums
Don Dokken - Lead Vocals
Congratulations to Jordan!! And also congratulations to the channel. I love the new series with the creators. It looks like you enjoyed recording them. All your time and efforts are worth it!
The grin on Mick's face when he's drumming inside the boiler cracks me up every time. Dokken fan since the mid 80s
Freddy grabbing Lynch during the solo is incredible
I saw Dokken in concert back in 1990. They opened up for Aerosmith. AWESOME CONCERT!!!!!!
Saw these guys so many times live, had amazing shows even without the stage props they’d outperform groups they’d open for
Happy Belated Birthday, man! Not only is this a really good movie but it's also the
perfect video for you! 🍰🍰
"Rockin with Dokken!! What more do you want." -Stephen Pearcy That greatest band to ever walk the planet.
Omg I just transported back in time 😮❤
1... 2... Freddy's comin for you...
This is the first time that a mainstream vhs release included a music video. Dokken wrote Dream Warriors specifically for the movie.
Wishing you a fun birthday, Jordan! May the next year be filled with joy-filled music, family love and smiles! :o)
Saw DOKKEN live less than a year ago. Lead singer has long gray hair, but he can still hit those high notes.
George Lynch (lead guitarist) was probably one of the few underrated guitar players of that era. for those who didn't know of him of course
4:25 singer’s name is Don Dokken. It’s sorta like how with Van Halen the name of the band is also the name of one of the band members.
Happy Birthday Jay! 🎂 A couple of other Dokken songs to check out are: "In My Dreams" and "Into The Fire"!
Top 10 metal bands from 80s! They had 4 albums from that decade, 3 of them were almost perfection.
Heaven sent, Unchain the Night, Breaking the Chains, Into the Fire, The Hunter, You just got Lucky, Burning like a Flame, In my Dreams. All bangers by Dokken
Very polished hair band of the 80's. Can't beat the high pitched singing, great era.
Happy Birthday, great as always
In that song, when he sings ''When i close my eyes, i realiiiiize...''
Incredible.
This is so wholesome seeing yall jam out to what was essentially my childhood
Happy Birthday...🎂🎂One of my fav Dokken songs and Freddy movies. Thanx so much, Peace
Don Dokken - vocals
George Lynch - guitar
Jeff Pilson - bass
Mick Brown - drums
Happy Birthday! Without Warning is another good one from them. Thanks for the reactions!
