Get Shapeshifter's Boon Ring WITHOUT killing the Strange Ox in Baldur's Gate 3

- We show you the six steps to tricking the game to letting you buy the Shapeshifter's Boon Ring which gives plus 1d4 on all checks and is OP for a pickpocketing build. The Strange Ox has some quests in Act 3 and if you kill him for his ring you will miss out.

much easier way to do this, have access to the hatch where the gang of kids hang out, shoot the strange ox then go into the hatch, come out then talk to him and trade to buy the ring
you made what should have been a 10 second video 3 minutes long.
1 Hide nearby
2 Summon any creature
3 Attack with this creature
4 It dies
5 Approach the merchant and make peace, exchanging the ring for money
Most likely, you can attack anyone, then go invisible, and then compare trading.
Patch 5 still works (even in Honor mode)
The Ox keeper also got mad at me, but definitely worth it 😂
Only here I have found this information and I thank you for it. A find I made trying it on my own: I used invisibility, hit the Strange Ox and then used Feign Death, when my character woke up I could talk to the strange ox and do the same thing you did but faster 😁

Thanks to the video, really helped me.
i think I found a easier way to do this thanks to the video, Just hit him and run away far enough to him to give up fighting and then you come back (i atacked him, putted him to sleep and runned away.)
Worked like a charm.
That ring is so good, i just killed the Ox while fogged then went to camp, came back and looted it. Ring was so worth it! I guess i miss out on other stuff but i really dont care.
I wonder if you get a ring here and don't kill it in Act II, later you get its quest is helping it to go inside the city. The ring is supposed as a reward. But since you got the ring, will the ox give the hat instead?
I just killed him in the grove when everyone was at the gate and i got the ring :b
simple and easy!
Does this work in act 2? He shifts into an acid blob and runs away if you die when I tried.
I have not tried to not kill him in act 2.
@@LinusWilson I tried it a few times, I don't think it works since he transforms into the blob and is gone when you come back after dying.
just killed ihm in act II when I found out about this ring. Less hassle.

when i hit the ox it transform so i cant do it
@@Sirfrigth I used mage hand to hit it. Perhasp you hit it too hard then it's snapped out the ox form. LoL.
@@Sirfrigth are you in Act I? If in Act II, it always transform by any attacks.
@@khuongtran4941I did it in act 2, after already talking to it to tell me its secret, does it affect?
@@Sirfrigth yes, what do you expect here? It told you about the secret and you chose to attack. :)) I think you can hit it on Act I, but it doesn't transform cause it's trying to disguise and feed severals later.
