I picked up this game from a friend back in 2013 and played it on the 360. It has arguably the best gameplay in an action RPG. In terms of combat mechanics and leveling(classes), yes, but it could use more Open World and RPG options, like multiple choices and stuff. I feel it's too linear for an RPG. You can't walk on PC, though, but you can walk on console. That's kind of discrimination. And "why do you even need walking in this game"...well, it's an RPG, I want to be able to RP. Immersion>gameplay, duh.
I like a good stroll in an rpg. Sometimes you just want to saunter around and chill. I understand some people don't understand, but there are many of us that just want to slow it down for a bit.
@@neiltay2002 exactly. Because walking in some situations make more sense than running. For example a ceremony or sth. Or when an NPC walks and you don't want to feel weird running around them. 😂 Thankfully, I think I have a USA controller stashed away somewhere. I think that would work.
Sometimes the game can feel like stepping on mines of shit because of known bugs. I have tripped off a few while playing. At one point I had to start whole new game because I ruined the quest to Ysa by entering and leaving abruptly because I wanted to empty my full backpack ( second playthrough) and the quest finished itself. The game itself can be fun if you know the dos and don'ts of its bug mechanics. Another thing about KoA: Re-reckoning is how your Fateless one can survive insanely high jumps off of cliffs and other places without dying. Something you couldn't try in Skyrim without mods.
I just wish that the remaster was more fleshed out and had less bugs. I recently bought this again and hopefully they patched it with the new dlc they added this year.
Some of the team from Civilization my all time fav! I’ve been playing this a lot lately.. And the more time I put in the more I like it.. Yet not many people seem to know about it.. Which for a title of this quality is bizarre and puzzling.. I did notice your equipment breaks but not to the point of being constant & annoying a la other more mainstream games..
I have spent everyday of the past several weeks playing this game. Created half a dozen characters: a greathammer wieldinh Storm Paladin that focuses on lightning damage, stunning enemies and reflecting damage. A dagger wielding vampire that is stronger at night and focuses on bleed damage and leeching health and must feed on the blood of the innocent every 3 days. A Voodoo priest that summons the dead and deals poison damage. And a tectonic mage that shifts the earth and wrecks the ground in order to wreck her enemies are just a few. I love the versatility of character building while remaining simple has a lot of versatility as ling as you restrain yourself from using everything at your disposal. Very underrated game.
One of the best games I’ve played. There is a glitch in it if you break some crystals before a mission in the late game that completely halts story progression. I fell victim to it and restarted my game. My new play through was much more enjoyable.
@@joethealternativegamer3935 It was, I had to but the game on hiatus for a while. Very few people encountered the glitch because you have to basically completely disregard the story and break everything you see like some vandal. Lol I was that vandal.
I played it on release years ago and it felt like singleplayer quasi-mmo. Combat was fine (and even great) but everything else... well mediocre at best.
i played it when it was on sale on steam, thou my opinion about it was that it must be lame. the title was lame, the story and the world nothin to me. and boy was i wrong. it hasitsunderdeveloped sections and parts, but it has all an rpg needs and one of the best combat systems. this would make a hell of a multiplayer game. the world is definitely worth working on.
Game looks good, but your script reading. Dry monotone then an exclamation on last 1-2 words, is highly annoying to listen to! For every sentence it gets Repetitive. Hopefully you learn how to sound natural on future videos.
This game is such a disapointment. What you said carries it for only about halfway to the finish line imo. At a certain point you realize there is almost no variety to quest objectives. Then you realize the over-world is a bit barren with roads leading you from predetermined objective to predetermined objective (the way minimap highlights only walkable paths contribute a lot to this imo). Then you get strong enough that you can just execute your desired combo on any and all enemies and the combat gets stale. Don't get me wrong there is a lot of potential here I really like the writing, environmental design is great, all different areas have distinct identities, combat has good ideas but nothing is just polished enough
if it's such a great game why did it fail so hard commercially? also, talking for 30 minutes about the combat system of *an RPG* is not really a review. what about the narrative? it's an rpg after all. what about game balancing? any compelling villains? how is the grind? any clever puzzles or particularly noteworthy quests? what about so many people complaining they hit max level around halfway through the game and lost interest and never finishing it because the story is so dull?
I honestly do not really know why it didn’t do great. That happens with many other great games like Jade Empire or Alan Wake. It is extremely well made A large part of the gameplay section is dedicated to the combat while also discussing the build diversity and variety in approaches. I also discuss the side quests and how I enjoyed the general interconnected feel of them. I touched on the story along with the dlcs. Along with 10 minutes dedicated to the development of the game. It seems like you didn’t watch the video lol
@@Distance2Jupiter lol. so funny you're talking about brainwashing. at least I don't have to wonder who brainwashed you into believing this painfully blatant mediocre game is actually good. a 6.7/10 user score on metacritic is perfectly deserved but it takes one asshat gushing about a game's combat system (while acknowledging the devs didn't want to make an action game) for you to white knight for it. how truly sad

It has alot of the bugs the og game had and even adds some new ones ontop of the performance issues and the lack of character model or visual upgrades even the draw distance is not expanded which is bizzare. Its like they did not do hardly anything to the game before putting a new price tag on it.
@@RadioMan8745 I've experienced no performance issues on the PC. My computer is not cutting-edge, either ( it was built in 2014).
Thankfully, I think I have a USA controller stashed away somewhere. I think that would work.
This game was sick men I remember I use to play all the time men
Just got the re reckoning
Enjoy!
@@joethealternativegamer3935 I have been. Veryyyy fun game. All I think about at work lol
@@dehydratedculture9126 work should give you time off to enjoy this beauty lol!
@@joethealternativegamer3935 that would be nice lol. Almost Friday. And I get the weekends off. So I’m sure I’ll have 25-30 hours played by Monday lol
Great video about a great game I love 👍🏻
Thanks! I love it too!
Balor is a better boss fight than most boss fights in God of War
Sometimes the game can feel like stepping on mines of shit because of known bugs. I have tripped off a few while playing. At one point I had to start whole new game because I ruined the quest to Ysa by entering and leaving abruptly because I wanted to empty my full backpack ( second playthrough) and the quest finished itself. The game itself can be fun if you know the dos and don'ts of its bug mechanics.
Another thing about KoA: Re-reckoning is how your Fateless one can survive insanely high jumps off of cliffs and other places without dying. Something you couldn't try in Skyrim without mods.
"Oblivion" is strong in this one. :)
I hope the dlc come out soon
Same here
This is an underrated game
@@valdimer11 fact!
Youre not getting an expansion but a sequal would be dope. re-reckoning was not enough.
Fabulous, love it!!
:)
I LOVE this game.
@@IVIALL0Y me too
I have spent everyday of the past several weeks playing this game.
Really well said!
@@joethealternativegamer3935 Thanks, I am glad you took the time to cover this game!
@@placeholder2617 yea it took a while lol! I did a playthrough that hit almost everything and this was a monster script lol
@@joethealternativegamer3935 I believe it! As always though you did a fantastic job! Any hint as to what you will cover next??
Thank you :)
Probably something related to 007!
I wonder 🤔
Are there romance options in this game?
With your weapons!
@@joethealternativegamer3935 Good one 😂
One of the best games I’ve played. There is a glitch in it if you break some crystals before a mission in the late game that completely halts story progression. I fell victim to it and restarted my game. My new play through was much more enjoyable.
I encountered that glitch my first play through back in the day. I didn’t have a save to go back to.
I never had that one! Sounds annoying!
@@RichieAppel yeah man second play through I was a long range menace to society because of it. 😂
@@joethealternativegamer3935 It was, I had to but the game on hiatus for a while. Very few people encountered the glitch because you have to basically completely disregard the story and break everything you see like some vandal. Lol I was that vandal.
I feel like this game is my offline world of warcraft fix and I haven't played wow since 08. Its nostalgic to me from a different game, its weird.
@@grandmarquee yes!
Loading, loading and loading..... underrated.... it deserves that status
More like from a financial side of things than from a legal side of things
I played it on release years ago and it felt like singleplayer quasi-mmo. Combat was fine (and even great) but everything else... well mediocre at best.
The combat is excellent! What other areas would you improve?
i played it when it was on sale on steam, thou my opinion about it was that it must be lame. the title was lame, the story and the world nothin to me. and boy was i wrong. it hasitsunderdeveloped sections and parts, but it has all an rpg needs and one of the best combat systems. this would make a hell of a multiplayer game. the world is definitely worth working on.
Game looks good, but your script reading. Dry monotone then an exclamation on last 1-2 words, is highly annoying to listen to! For every sentence it gets Repetitive. Hopefully you learn how to sound natural on future videos.
75% off on steam rn!
@@dudeweedlmao8519 idk, I love it!
@@joethealternativegamer3935 I'm glad you do!
Ya
if it's such a great game why did it fail so hard commercially?
also, talking for 30 minutes about the combat system of *an RPG* is not really a review. what about the narrative? it's an rpg after all. what about game balancing? any compelling villains? how is the grind? any clever puzzles or particularly noteworthy quests?
what about so many people complaining they hit max level around halfway through the game and lost interest and never finishing it because the story is so dull?
I honestly do not really know why it didn’t do great. That happens with many other great games like Jade Empire or Alan Wake. It is extremely well made
A large part of the gameplay section is dedicated to the combat while also discussing the build diversity and variety in approaches. I also discuss the side quests and how I enjoyed the general interconnected feel of them. I touched on the story along with the dlcs. Along with 10 minutes dedicated to the development of the game. It seems like you didn’t watch the video lol
No one cares how KOA did "commercially" - who brainwashed you into thinking commercial success somehow means a game is good or not?
@@Distance2Jupiter lol. so funny you're talking about brainwashing. at least I don't have to wonder who brainwashed you into believing this painfully blatant mediocre game is actually good.
a 6.7/10 user score on metacritic is perfectly deserved but it takes one asshat gushing about a game's combat system (while acknowledging the devs didn't want to make an action game) for you to white knight for it.
how truly sad
That’s Mr. asshat to you lol
This retrospective is as sterile, formulaic and robotic like the game.
Do have any examples from the game itself to elaborate on your statement?
Wtf lol
