- Tool Live EPIC Final 2002 Concert. Long Beach, CA '02.
What a show. This is one of the nicest 2002 recordings I've ever heard. The new audio source was released just days ago, and it sounds amazing. Together with the classic video source it now qualifies as one of the absolute best 2002 concert recordings. I've corrected the original massive sync issues the video files had, though there's a few left in Third Eye's second half and also left it all in 4:3 cause why not.

I think I've heard more Tool than Tool at this point.
I think I've Tooled more Tool than hearing at this point
yeah i think that tool
i tool that thought
@Careful Icarus Humor doesn't hurt, man. Here's a hug.
That comment is BLASPHEMY
fun fact: this is (as it stands) the final time they've played disposition, reflection, and triad
Attending a Tool concert is a dream of mine and I wish they would play Disposition. That song sends me to another dimension
whoa that makes this night even more memorable. i was actually sitting kinda where the camera was but more to the left. and gave myself whiplash. lol i had to skip work for a week tho so that was fun.. shit in fact i think my neck is still fucked up.
That's a rather sad fact. DRT is one of the best live combos ever performed.
I believe it's their Masterpiece
Triad never did anything for me tbh, I like just Disposition-Reflection. It's just kind of repetitive and boring. Ticks and Leeches and Triad are usually skips for me.
Holy shit that Third Eye intro with Dr. Tim Leary and Bill Hicks was astoishing. Where are my 5 dried grams???
💕
The Patient is so underrated, I want them to bring it back.
rransomm my favorite!
I can't help but to well up...
What other songs do you want them to start playing? lol Im quite interested :)
dMedz Reflection
They played it in Tennessee last week it was amazing
Reflection is still too underrated. They should play it live more, the build-up is insane.
Vasari O Disposition too
Bood Hernandez yes indeed
The best Tool song
They should do Dispostion-Reflection-Triad every other tour
agreed
Can you guys just imagine those security guards trying so hard to focus on doing their job and not focus on this music.
Boss- Bob.... it's about the Tool show you worked Tuesday. Or did you? Come clean now and this'll be alot easier.
Bob-Sir I was at my pos-
Boss-You were ROCKING Bob!!! The WHOLE SHOW!!!Fans could have been up to ANYTHING at your post!!! You're FIRED!!!
Bob- So so worth it though.
MCMLXXXVIII best comment ever
Dude for some reason when ever i watch a tool live show on here i just picture the security guards bobbing their head before one by one all turning to face the show and embracing the crowd
Apparently you people have never been to a Tool show. Most security at their shows are busy making people put away their cell phones and cameras (and kicking people out who don't) to bother paying attention to the band. Every Tool show I've been to I've seen several people kicked out for that. And besides...I don't see too many Security types enjoying Tool anyway.

Maynard's Scream in The Grudge timestamp LOL sick
Been to 11 concerts from 1998-2020 and the tours they did during 2001 and 2002 I saw them 3 times and it was my favorite concert. Maynard was at the top of his vocal abilities and they just sounded amazing!
adjust the maynard talking timestamp if you dont mind
I was at this. Messhuggah opened. Sick ass show
No way? That's insanity
Amazing! I wish I could travel back in time and see this.
1:45:37
Adam Flake Yeah really..
dude fuck you
It is pretty amazing that a Guitar, a Bass, Drums and a singer can make such beautiful noise. It blows my mind every time I see TOOL play...
Royal Blood....2 only...bass guitar and drums... only...try em
The drummer from tool uses a lot of electronics. Pads etc… so there’s a little more to it. But yeah agreed
It's so complicated at times, blows my mind too!!
Best band, period.
TOOL shit I thought your pfp was a stray hair on my screen
I gave the phone to my girl and said get this off for me. Needless to say i got a bruise where she hit me with the phone.
Even after I scrolled the screen and the hair moved I still tried to blow it off, lol!!!
unfortunately i use dark mode lol
Yes brother
Tool transcended my family's normal generational taste and differences. I attended some of their concerts with more then a dozen direct relatives. Our ages were 11 to 50. Life changing music which has paced my own in a way I cannot describe adequately. They've seen me through some tough times and for that, I'm incredibly thankful.
these dudes to me are a combination of genesis and black sabbath this ain't just kick ass rock n roll this is straight up art!
Too bad my dumbass tone deaf family cannot hear the significance of the greatest musicians of all time
Would be hella strange to see an 11 year old at a psychedelic show
More than a Dozen? !!!
I can’t get more than three together for Holiday dinner. What kind of magical(hallucinogenic?) family do you come from?
@@paulwisham5943 hahaha one that actually will oh my gosh hear their son/nephew out for real! Hahah really though it's so awesome I bet it was a unifying feeling...
Disposition, Reflection and Triad played together, as they should. Excellent.
exactly
Yessir
They need to play it again
I wanna know why everyone calls them the triad. Has tool specified they were to be taken as a trilogy? Or something the fans decided?
@@Thinkfourselfquestionauthority they’re all connected to each other
13:09 Holy fucking shit!
I went into the comments just to fund someone pointing this out.
best scream ever
My favorite song musically
Performing Third Eye live is no joke...dang it, these guys are OP
14:03
RIP to anyone tripping. Jesus.
57:27 I ate 4g of shrooms last week, listened to Fear Inoculum while looking at Alex Grey artwork, and watched Tool concerts...this was one of em. Needless to say, it was interesting having MJK guide me throughout
@Squip. 7 Thanks for the heads up, I'll look for it....I was at that show too!! Incredible!!
@@joehynes5452 I was too!
@Squip. 7 Great recording of the entire show!! That dude did an Excellent job!!
@@joehynes5452 Ive done this on 5 gs, and i felt like I heard the secret message to the album, that to the sober ears it sounds loud and rambunctious but to the tripping ears it was like sitting in the eye of a storm while maynard gently guided me through
I just saw Adam move more than I've ever seen before. (during the patient)
He couldn't be patient for long
Someone asked him why he dosent move and he said “because I’m busey counting “ haha
The grudge/eon blue apocalypse/the patient combo is probably my favorite order of songs ever
I drove down from Santa Maria(1 hour north of Santa Barbara) with my oldest son to this show. He wore one of my old TOOL concert shirts. Went below his 7 year old knees. His mind was blown. Then TOOL went into Aenima, his favorite song (because I let him get away with dropping F-bombs) and THAT blew his fucking mind! Some random comes running up with devil horns in the air and gets down to my kid and YELLS, "YOU'RE THE LUCKIEST KID IN THE FUCKING WORLD!" Kid squeezed my hand and grinned from ear to ear. Fucking epic memory! BTW, he hated meshugga too!
LMAO I was there too, I remember Meshuggah. They were so underwhelming, I felt bad for them :(
He will never ever forget that
I WAS THERE at 22yo on the floor 20 ft from stage. Once triad hit, my cells peaked phisiologically like a vast expanse into oblivion (87.57% sure thats me yelling "yeah" at 1:35:36). Thank you for uploading, good memory!
that is freakin awesome haha
Dude that's fucking cool.
Long beach Arena?
Bro you along with the others in this concert are officially supreme beings.
@@cal-king Hahaha true
All set for the 2 hr long flight back home. Thanks ToolArchive.
P.s The Grudge sounds awesome during takeoff.
My life is so much better having known TOOL and understanding their music. It is a significant part of my personality and soul, on par with my first love, my first child, my mom's face, or any other event or experience. Since 1992, I've been learning about life from their wisdom and ability. Respect !
Clint McCaleb word
People roll their eyes that im such a “tool fan” but honestly i wish people loved any bit of art like i love this band. I hope people get half as much out of life as ive gotten out of tool.
I’m crying right now
@@Magnumscrotus Feel exactly the same way. Have even said the same thing to people, I hope they love any art as much as I love Tool.
@@stephonepage5734 Lmao....crying??
Now THIS is real alchemy.
The end of reflection is so amazing. Waves and waves of calm and solitude
Maynards scream on Third Eye was so powerful it knocked the camera off its angle 😂
Can't get enough of Tool. Inspiring, awesome, oneness with source ❤😊
I was a this show at the rail and directly in the middle of the pit. One of the last Tool concerts where they sold pit tickets, besides festivals of course. Now all their shows are assigned seating. I’ve seen Tool live 27 times since 97’ and this show in Long Beach, CA was my all time favorite. I bought 4 tickets. 2 Pit tickets and 2 seated close to the front. The show was in a smaller size stadium in Long Beach where the minor league hockey team plays, the Ice Dogs I believe. The sound and acoustics where outstanding that day. The show started at 7pm and because I had pit tickets I got there at 8am and was the third person in line. The wait didn’t bother me because I ate 7 grams of mushrooms and smoked a lot of weed. Tool on mushrooms is a trip, no pun intended:) Anyways it was the last show of the North America tour of Lateralus and actually the last tour for quite a while. I don’t know what it was but the energy and crowd that night was really special. One thing that is pretty interesting after watching this video was the instrumental, before Lateralus I think, which was pieces from what became “ Wings for Marie,” from the 10,000 days album. Another highlight for me was Third eye from Salival which was a song I hadn’t heard live yet. To this day, after many more shows that I was blessed to attend, is still my all time favorite show from my all time favorite band. Thanks for posting this video so I could reminisce. Can’t wait for the new album in 2018!
@timwins31 I get it.
A line on mushrooms personally sounds frightening
@@amandaanderson2736 fuck, i would crawl out of my own skin
Sam Cardenas they played gen admission all three times in NH after this concert.
A. Azoulay yeah I saw them in NYC a few months before this show.. it was the best Tool show/ best any show I have ever seen.. I also was on a few shrooms and a few other mood lifting things.. was a spiritual experience!
I can't avoid to be fascinated by Danny Carey and his drumming. He has something magic
Fucking magician!!😲🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍
He's a legitimate magician into Crowley & shit so you're more right than you know
34:31 Vicarious piano thing is being played in 2002
drummersnail115 yeah I herd them playing riffs from wings for Mary at a show in like 2003 or 04 or something.. shit maybe even before that
drummersnail115 they actually said that some of the music on FI was written all the way back in like 96
@@derekrohan9619 yeah probably some riffs here and there but nothing really concrete..
We need the interludes on albums to sound like the one before Sober here. Give me more stuff like Intension and songs like Disposition and I'll be happy. We need more Psychadelic Tool 🤗
YES....WE....DO!!!!
Completely agree. Hoping the new album contains a trilogy like Disposition, Reflection, and Triad.
Bood Hernandez I fuckin love intension, i thought i was the only one
The Batman You're not the only one brotha, am a huge Batman fan as well 🤗
Bood Hernandez That Guitar part in the middle Is so simple but when the bass and the drums come in... Good lord... Also, batman Is the best superhero ever. Period.
Love the early “Wings for Marie” segment just before Lateralus.
I aways thought it was some fevered acid dream that Maynard was on a dias spinning during the finale. Now I see we have the same dreams
I fuccin listen to so much tool holy fuck
I saw Tool during this tour at the Coors Event Center on the CU campus in Boulder Colorado. No liquor sales, and ABSOLUTELY no smoking of any kind inside the arena, so of course Tool opened the show with Sober. As one of the Encores, they played Reflection in total darkness, not a light anywhere in the arena. Best Tool show I have been to.
Man.....Disposition, Reflection and Triad here......EPIC doesn’t even begin to describe this performance!🤯
Fun fact about this show:
When my buddies and i got back to our car after the show, it was covered in raw carne asada. Ill never forget that. Oh yeah, and being 20 feet from the stage my sophomore year of high school wasa
pretty dope.
Just realized that that riff for Wings predates the death of Keenan's mother
gtactwit Yeah, Maynard writes lyrics to the music. Not the other way around. I’d venture to guess that the entire Wings for Marie part 2 song was done at this point. Or at least mostly done.
gtactwit Keenan Ivroy Wayans?
I was thinking Maynard James Keenan, but sure
in living color was awesome.
I actually herd them play riffs from it at a show around this time.
been at this concert , remember it vividly. cant believe it was 18 years ago. the sound was 100 times better than on the studio albums, too bad one cant hear it on this video, but anyway its a miracle that this video at all exists)
That wings of Marie jam is just amazing.
Reflection - A masterpiece which defines the epitome of human expression .
Wow I wish I wasn't one year old when this tour happened.
Messhugah and Tool together would be so mindblowing.
Yes. Haha... I was 13 in 1993 and have been a huge fan since the video popped on MTV at 3am when me and my cousin were smoking some bud while taking a break from jamming on our own music .. I was instantly hooked
Why would anybody in there right mind not like Tool. Amazing concert!
Spiral Out!
Spiral out brother.
Someone who thinks they know everything already
Hell yeah I was there! I kid you not, the show was sold out but I went online to ticketbastard like a month before the show and it had 1 floor ticket available. Snagged it real quick. This show was recorded for the live dvd that will never ever see the light of day for some unknown reason. By the way, when the venue was almost empty, Danny Carey came out and played "Faaip de Oiad" for litterly a handful of people. No doubt it was for the scrapped live dvd.
doublestack2k i don’t believe you
@@crossprentice2925 He's lying. I was there, floor seats, we got there early. Danny never came out.
@@SirPhilMcCrackinVonBeggington ehhhhh I don’t know if I believe you either
@@crossprentice2925 One of us is telling the truth. We can't both be lying lol.
...if Tool doesn't make you feel ALIVE...then you're already DEAD 👍😎🤘✌️♥️
I was at the show in Grand Rapids MI on 9/13/01. Show was pushed back 2 days because of the 9/11 attacks. Wish that one would get on UA-cam. What an amazing show. Unforgettable. Greatest band of all time🤘
This is so amazing! Thank you for this. Brings back a great memory from when I attended a concert from this tour in 02’. Such a great setlist and it was the first time I heard extended Stinkfist live. It was one of the first songs they played and I just remember the chills I got when listening to that and they just kept going throughout the night. Greatest band in the entire world.
Stellar! That was a great tour. Love to see and hear their old stuff.
You're doing a genuinely awesome service to us all. I can't thank you enough.
Thanks a ton, mate!
Thank you Tool Archive ! This adds to my life.
That scream at 13:10 is EPIC. Well done, MJK!
Truly strikes me with sadness knowing I'll never be able to witness Tool in their prime time, but I couldn't ask any more than for this amazing channel that let allows us all to live these absolutely mind blowing and spiritual experiences.
Thank you very much ToolArchive
I just realized this show was performed in the night i was born
Wow, I’ve never seen Adam move, nor headbang during a live show, and he actually did during The Patient, that’s incredible!
Fr, the only time I seen him headbang was the live video of Sober in 1992 where Maynard’s wearing a pink gown
Thank you ToolArchive!
This is AMAZING. I found it by mistake and now I am locked in for the entire trip.
Just hope for a new album and give thank for what we've been blessed with. Thank you fellas. 😁
Wow, no 46&2 . Great show, thanks for the upload!

Amazing show, thanks!
Simply amazing
*likes this performance of Triad so much he goes back in time and records it on a smartphone* I swear to god, this has always been my absolute go-to Tool live jam and seeing it at a different angle is unreal after years of seeing it a certain way.
MAN I LOVE TO WATCH TOOL CONCERTS!!!!😮😲🤩🤩😏😏😬😬😁😁😁😁
Amazing set!! Never a let down!!👊
Tool is my alltime favorite band. What tourture that I have never seen them live. I must live Vicariously through you.
I can die happy. This one of the best shows for MJK scream in Grudge was awe inspiring
I LOVE what they do with the 2nd verse of “Reflection” live. So good.
1:47:36 wings for marie
First time they actually played it!
Who would've thought that this would become their deepest song 4 years later!
The BASS PLAYER is a MONSTER!!! Justin thank you for allowing all of us to hear your passion!!!! They all are equally phantom Inal!!!!!🤩🤩🙏🙏👐👐👐!!!!!
THIS SOUNDS AMAZING!!!!
beautiful
This sounds really good! Maynard’s voice is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i went to the perth leg of the australian tour. remains to this day the best concert i have ever witnessed.
I love you, Tool.
ToolArchive... You are the shit.
This is the best live recording I've heard.
Thank you, thank you. Thankyou. Thank yo
thanks for leaving it in 4:3
I was just watching a tool vid from 1998. Funny how Justin developed his air/bass humping in the few years between this tour 😂 he didn't do it back then. Also Adam used to stay in 1 spot almost motionless, then he actually started to move around and take control of the stage. Kinda cool that we have so many videos to see how they have all grown over the years
Yep anyone with any sense knows that when they play Triad you put the fucking camera on danny at this point, 1:43:00
Parabol sounds freaking great in this
Yo, the guys playing from Meshuggah on Triad is epic AF
tomas haake and danny carey are good friends, i love how each one of them wears the other band's shirt at their concer
@defbizkit do you know who was on the synth?
Maynard was
It was a guitar with effects if I recall correctly
@@tasossimmons8274 lol just rewatched, this video is different than the other one I've seen. Looks like another member of Meshuggah on synth, I think it might actually be Freddrick playing drums and Tomas on the synth? at least it appears to me
I got mind-blown, once again.
This is gold
Number One fan since 10000days!
I just remember being at this show in New Orleans in 2002 and I’ve never heard a crowd sing back to a band so loud,” Jesus won’t you fucking whistle!” Maynard just stopped singing and let the crowd sing the words at some points. I know it happens at many other rock shows, but I’ve never heard it out of any other band or crowd the way it was that summer night in 2002.
Triad, with all the other band members on stage: Chills everytime.
Playing the patient towards the end reminds me of so many more things in life🎉
They are one of their own, and they continue to kill it!
This is a total period of clarity for Tool. Great recordings!

I would love to get my hands on the master final vid of this show , to listen to the full quality audio. wow what a xmas eve gift!!!! no other place id rather be.
These musicians are incredible!! I need to see them
Scott Horwitt go see them.. it’s still an amazing experience to see them, but not like back in the day... you won’t regret it I can promise you that... it’s a spiritual experience
At the end when he talks about hopefully inspiring new musicians.. it’s 2020 he must be so disappointed haha
Ha! True
i like how Maynard throws his arms around to the music... nice moves man.
