I prefer their later work, but this was definitely their peak performance energy. I have seen them 6 times since 2019 and loved it every time, but I definitely feel like I missed the boat with these shows during my childhood. Thanks a lot, dad lol
I saw them on this same tour by themselves when I was 18 or 19. They did all these plus the long version of Pushit before anyone had ever heard it. I already loved them but that show literally changed me. I’m 44 now and I’m not getting off the train until it stops. They’re just too good✌️
This is sort of when Maynard was beginning to move himself into the shadows. But a fvckin tremendous sound they put out at this point! Neil Peart just rolled over and tipped his proverbial hat to Danny. Outstanding.
Saw Tool in 2001 but this era and back are on another level Maynard wise. The guys get better with age especially Danny Octopus Arms Carey. Great set list and Tool were on 🔥 this night 👏🏽♥️
@angeloprofera3296 There only was one Coachella in the 90's. This was it, and it bankrupted Golden Voice to put it on. AEG bought them out of bankruptcy afterwards.
@tinapuleo1233 I remember they tried to air condition the tents. They'd turn on these massive AC units and tried to close the flaps on the tents. But they only turned them on right before an artist went on. From J5's first show ever to Cornelius to Lamb, the tents were amazing that first year.
woohooo been looking for this for years, I was there was stationed in 29 Palms, the days before Coachella became the money sucking venue it is now.... best Coachella ever was the first and Rage that weekend also, I think I paid $50 for that whole weekend off some scalpers
Th things they're able to do with th visuals and how they arrange their setup. Idk how they figured this stuff out but it's amazing. Especially if u take some sort of psychadelics th stage literally flows like it's meant to be or something.
@@warrenh I think you should! I've seen them 4 times in the last two years and every show was incredible. Watching Pushit lead into Pneuma in Boston 2022 may have been the greatest 25 minutes of my life.
How did you get the sound so good? I was too young to see Tool at this time, but I did manage to see A Perfect Circle in Australia back in 2011 I think. My friend made me leave mid set, and I am still upset about that. Thanks for posting this, something for those born too late to have heard peak Tool/APC. Plus is that James Iha on guitar? One of my guitar idols!
thats more due to age and less to covid, he's what 60 now? He was already mid-late 30s by 1999--which was about the end of his peak vocal powers (at least live!)
One strange thing I just noticed about intolerance. The song itself is mocking like Marxist ideology weaponized tolerance or repressive tolerance. Somewhat indirectly
@@Crabbadabba it's weird cuz at first when you look at them you're not sure if they're real people or if they're like some kind of projection. Because they're so well painted in the lights are so low

Nice work remastering whoever

Putting an albertsons ad in the middle of Eulogy should carry a 3-5 year sentence
their wings are ok tho
10 year minimum sentencing. I don’t know about there sauce but they’re ok I guess.
I’m calling the cops
If you saw Tool between 1991ish and 2002, you witnessed something special. Glad I was there 👏👏👏👏
Same here brother
saw them then and saw them for the 17th time last week. It was still (almost) just as special
96 and 2000. 96 was the best show I've ever seen. The energy was outrageous
My parents saw them in 96, im going to see them January! Can’t wait!
Agreed
The polite “thank you, goodnight” at the end is fucking awesome
I was already hooked on Tool before attending this, my first Tool concert. Then I was hooked for life. Still probably the best show I've ever been to.

I was at this show just to the right of this recording. What a trip to see it again. Been part of Tool Army before & since!!
Damn... the blue era... they are all great but boy did he owned the stage at this point...
97-99 right?
@Ryan Poop people just give the Era because of a couple shows with blue 💀
@@ryanpoop2071 I call 97 to 98 the maynard bra Era that shit was tight
I heard they didn’t hire him a makeup artist, so he just blue himself.
96, 97, 98, 99 is prime TOOL. At their best !!!!! unmatchable !!!!!

You try singing I front of Danny’s drum set for a decade.
Never heard danny start a set before. Hell yea
Man this version of Jerk-Off is epic.
Go to see TOOL never thinking gee, I hope they play Jerk-off! Leave thinking Jerk-off is TOOL best song!
@@coreyherr3471 Unfortunately, I think MJK no longer has the voice to sing this song, not the way he used to sing it.
Incredible show from start to finish.
I kept switching back and forth between this and the other Remastered one some made with 3 CAM angles but this sounded a bit better imo. Thank you!

I didn't realize Coachella hosted bands like TOOL.. I guess I need to look at them closer.. extremely badass show.. SPIRAL OUT...

I was there front row frying on liquid acid ;) What an experience and I went to Coachella the next few years when line ups were pure Gold!

Cherish that memory.
There’s so much to unpack with them sometimes. It’s been well worth experiencing it though! These guys are incredible.
1:24:25 damn...
skin tingling!
You lied is such an epic song and riff!
“I cannot toleraaaaaaate” hands down one of MJK’s most gnarly screams. God damn beast.

Adam headbangs!!! 😲😍

This video is amazing. Tool fckn rocks!
Listening to live tool concerts might have to be the best!
Blue Maynard with angel voice
