So great that you posted this video today.
I rescued a mini Phal from a supermarket sale table about 18 months ago, and have tended it following your tips and advice. I was delighted to have it bloom for the first time. This past week I noticed a second branch sprouting, and then two days saw a little nub, which I realized yesterday was a second flower spike!
The success and your video has made me want more minis!
Also, thanks to your advice, I have been nurturing friends’ orchids and have had so many successful revivals for them Thank you so much Dani for sharing your knowledge.
I've been obsessing over mini orchids for around 2 weeks and apparently you heard me 😁
The light purple/pink + white mini is absolutely beautiful I want her!!

So wonderful for those of us who have down sized!!!! I had no idea!!!! Thank you!🥰
My favorite too❣️ My very first purchase is flowering ❣️ I’ve since brought several during this pandemic.
I just ADORE the mini Phals! Great video!
So much information 🥰 🥰🥰 I always told myself I would never own an orchid because it was too complicated but thanks to your video I think I can do it!
Very informative, and just what I needed!
This was super helpful and informative! I just got my first mini phal and am excited to learn more of how to take care of it. 😊
Your usual informative video Danny. Really enjoyed it, great content. Pete from Canada
Thank You for all 💕💖💕
Learned a lot as a new beginner😀
Thank you so very much for this orchid lesson AND for including the links for potting and nutrients. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Just received my first orchid as a gift and I felt lost! Thanks so much for the info 😊
Thank you so much for the video! It was illuminating. And I have been having so much trouble trying to find the proper materials for repotting, so your sponsor site is exactly what I was looking for!

Hi Danni,
I enjoy your content, I'm new to your channel and I only stumbled on to your channel since I purchased myself an mini phal and grown to love it. So thats where I decided to look for tips on how to care for my mini phal.
Your video just gave me a whole new take on how to care for my mini and I realised your channel is my new go to for advance. Keep up the the great work.
Thank you so much I just got my first mini phelanopsis and I was very worried thank you for the video girl
great video always learn something new
Well structured with information🌷
Thanks so much for the video, I’m going to try and find some mini ones in the UK. I’ve been caring for my standard orchid as per your instructions and it is thriving and producing lots of flowers 🥰
Tesco has plenty of minies it's where I found my miny phal
I have few minis too. Thank you for sharing 👍
There is something very cute about the mini Phals.
This is so awesome! I have a Chinese water dragon and I could definitely put this plant by the dragon's tanks! It'll give it light, warmth and if needed humidity if I put it over the tank or maybe even inside 😱
I love my minis and use MSU fertilizer for all my orchids. I name my orchids and since I have a brand new granddaughter I must buy a new mini and name her “Birdie” after my little darling. Thank you for this tutorial Dani 🌺
Great vid! Thanks from Alberta
Thank you Danny 💚💜❤️🧡
I really love mini phals, they're just so beautiful, I've had one for 15 months, I'm hoping that she will reflower for me. The other one I've had for just 1 week :-)
thank you again...i got a new leaf and a flower spike...need to check out your root info :D
Paula from Mexico. I too am liking mini Phaleonopsis. I have 3, love the colors. The flowers last so long. Have one that still has flowers. All mine have a little fragrance to them, not strong. Thank you. I get most of my supplies from repotme.
I like the mini Phals. Yours are so beautiful. I haven’t found such gorgeous color combinations. I’ll have to do some research. Thank you for sharing. 🤗
I picked up 5 minis on sale today❤️❤️❤️
thank you very much about this vidio.
I wish they were all scented then I'd have 10 ahaha that's why I love Neos - tiny and so so beautifully scented ! :)
What’s neo?
What’s a neo? Also interested
Very helpful Danny. What about species phalls would you treat the same. I'm not sure about when to cut flower spikes, to me they never look done. Thanks
호접난꽃 영상 너무 잘봤어요
😀😀👍👍💕💕💕
Thanks a lot for the video. I was wondering: how can I tell the difference between a keiki or a young phal and a mini phal?
Very good 👍👍👍
Hi Danni! Thanks for this video. Did not know that Mini Phals didn’t need the same amount of humidity as large Phals. I have my oldest orchid under grow light this year. Hopefully she will bloom this fall. It’s been 7 years. Don’t know the color of flowers. She came a long way from 2 leaves 1 root and dried up spike. Got her for 50 cents. A bargain. Stay well. Need your videos.
Hi, large Phals don't care much about humidity either, just like the minis 😊
Never mind! That info was on the website!
Thanks Danni, your videos are very helpful. I just bought 3 mini phals in the weekend, some flowers are drying up! Please help me to solve this problem. The weather in my location is hot and dry.
My min orchid is growing so many new flowers!!
Hi Danny! I love your channel, you have helped me through everything with my orchids thank you so much! I am obsessed with your mini peloric phal that’s on this video, where did you get it from? I would love to get one like yours, it’s STUNNING!
Hi, I just found it at a local flower shop, but the ID is Phal. Formosa Cranberry Wilson, maybe you can find it at local nurseries if you have them in your country ☺️
i have taken your advise and i am purchasing the small phals and seedlings instead of a regular sized orchid if only because I have a small apartment. I am also looking all over the USA for that same shelving fixture you purchased from IKEA. Everyone in the USA seems to be out of stock and I can not find it in my state unless I fly to another state just to purchase a shelf.
New to your channel and absolutely love your videos. I came across here while looking for semihydro info for my mini phalaenopsis. In fact u has some videos. Do you not think Semihydro is suitable for phalaenopsis anymore?
Once again nice video, im wondering jere in the USA we can actually find a smaller mini. Is that just a younger mini?
What is the name of the purple mini phal with the bit of orange?!
Hello Miss Orchid Girl! Im a new subscriber and recently bought 4 mini phals from a flower shop! They are so pretty and love their size. Im worried that i might disrupt their new blooms so I will wait for the blooms to fall off before i repot them. I hope i will be able to successfully keep them all alive! Fortunately found your channel and now im watching all videos i can learn about phals especially the mini ones. Any other orchids you can suggest i should get that will be good for a beginner like me? Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge about phals.
Hi Danny! I love your videos and just recently rescued my orchid with only two aerial roots, thanks to your videos! I want to ask when repotting mini phals; do I need to go up on the pot size? Thanks!
Hi, depends on the orchid, there are no rules. Just make sure it fits the existing roots and leaves space, I would say of at least half the existing root mass, for future roots. Think that should be just fine ☺️
Hi Danni, are you still using LECA and self watering systems for your orchids? If so, how is it going?
Dani where did you buy all of your beautiful mini phalaenopsis? I am looking for different varieties
Hello. I just received a mini orchid as a gift and it surely needs repotting. What mix do you recommend for a mini orchid on rePot me?
Hi Danny! Is there a name for that purple orchid in a blue pot? I love it and I would love to find one for myself!
Can Fusarium also affect Cymbidium type of orchids ?
just wanna ask regarding the light that you are using is just an ordinary day light bulb? follower from singapore here :)
Are you have sales ? Where in Sydney area? Because, coming visit. Thanks Jimmy.
I got a tiny orchid from the grocery store and the roots were buried in moss. Inside a thick soft plastic type bag or “pot”. I don’t have a small pot for them. I immediately thought it’s probably not getting enough air flow but it hasn’t died.
Where do you purchase your mini phals?
My mini phal is growing a baby plant from its side. Do I leave it ?
Hey! I also live in cyprus where do you get your orchids from? xx
Hi Ms Orchid my orchid got some black roots, what can I do?
I too found they need more water than the regular Phals. My question is regarding fertilizer. I fertilize every other week with Orchid fertilizer, Cal/Mag & seaweed extract is this too much for them? I had great success last year with this recipe with the regular Phals but with the mini's, not so much.
I have recently bought very tiny phalaenopsis orchids. They are in 2 inch pots, like really tiny compared to my mini's. I wish I could get more information on care of these very tiny beauties, especially the medium to be used since standard medium is too big
Hey Dannie! Do you ship your orchids by chance!? I would LOVE to purchase some of your minis. It is so hard to find phals at all in my area, let alone minis.
Dani, how many inches is the plastic pot for mini phal?
I have one cute mini phals, I named her jumbo. Definitely want more in different colors now that I've seen yours. They'll be named Rotundo and Big No and...
I meant Big Mo, lol
if the leaves turn yellow and falls off is it ok?
Can you water Phalaenopsis Moth Orchid with drinking water?
Do you recommend a smaller bark chip for mini phals? I'm a newbie and recently bought the Monterey Dark Imperial orchid mix from rePotme for my existing 5" Phal, but wondering if the bark chips in this mix might be too big for a mini Phal. Addicted to your videos!
Hi, I think it doesn't matter, since minis have thick roots too. Whatever you use for the standards, should be good for minis too ☺️
I like and I would like to buy and grow mini phalaenopsis myself, which I want to by personally in flowering conditions. But I am not getting it.
.
Are the roots suppose to hang out like that? The ones I have, the roots outside the soil seen dry and dead.
Is fish tank water good for watering these things?
The reason why they are mini sized is mostly due to the influence of Phalaenopsis equestris as one of its parentage. It is a species with lots of variants, all producing multiple small flowered inflorescence, offering a wide range of color tones and combinations of tones. Cross any Phal with this and you get table-top versions of your typical Phals. While there are other small flowered Phal species, it's the equestris that's a favorite for breeding since it blooms quite well in most conditions than other, more finicky species that also produce small flowers.
Please let me know how to take care of Sedirea/Phal. japonica miniature varieties like 'Minmaru' and 'Minmaru Shima' ?! Watering, moisture, fertilizing, light etc. I have had good sucess so far with the species, but the rare varieties (not hybrids) have been difficult to grow for me and i have lost them over time.
Hi there - I've been growing this Sedirea (Phal.) japonica for over 1 year and find they are easy to grow if you follow 3 guidelines: 1) keep the crown and root/step junction dry by elevating it above the media; 2) grow in bright light - like oncidium light; 3) provide a cold, dry winter rest for at least 2-3 months, misting lightly maybe once per week at most. They should not be grown like other phals.
So I cut about 60% of my Phalaenopsis leaves off. The Phalaenopsis has good aerial roots. I was wondering what I should do. I had a bacterial infection so I took all the infected leaves off I just didn’t really know how to care for it when more than 50% of the leaves off.
Will you please do a care video on Orchis italica.
Hi, I don't have that orchid 🤷
I just received a mini orchid for Mother’s Day and I have absolutely no experience growing orchids. Do I need to fertilize while it is blooming?
Good 🌟
Hi Danni,
You were talking about orchid size, I was given a very much neglected orchids with dried out floppy leaves, with lots and lots of TLC
the leaves are horizontal holding there own, but it measures 620cm from leave tip to leave tip , its hug. DANNI is this normal? 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤗
Hey Danni, I’m using wine bottle cork as part of my medium. I read orchids love the tannins in the cork. Do you have any experience with this?
I know this is ancient but how did the cork work out? I have a ton of corks I could use 😊
@@traciejones3375 The cork has worked well & last longer than bark.
Thanks for the reply!
Hi Danni! Are there fragrant mini phals? Thanks for your videos!
Hi, yes there are a few hybrids that have a bit of a scent! 😁
I have 3 minis in my collection. They came is really small pots, 2". Should I replant them? One of them have a second plant growing from the bottom. Can I divide?
so I bought a small orchid thinking it would get bigger over time. its flowers are smaller too. Is there any way to tell whether it's a mini or not?
This video is a year old and a life saver. I have always wanted a orchid. I have a small apartment and many plants already. I broke down and bought 2 mini orchids. Thanks to this video, it saved their life's. I so would have stuck them into soil. I am tempted to see I can not get one into my Betta tank. He wood that sticks out a bit that has moss growing up it. The roots would wet and dry at the same time if that makes sense? Is that something a mini orchid can handle? Would it like it? Just the tips of the roots would be in water. The very tips of the roots only. Is this possible?
Hi Dani, I've got all my phal's in clear pots similar to yours, but I never put the plants in a decorative pot, as I thought the roots and leaves both needed air and light?
They dont need light that way. They get air if pot has holes in it
I need a lot of help ... my friend just gave me a min espresso orchid . I had two regular phil. orchid they dies . I tried to repot them . Can you help me so this one want die. Thank you . And I love your video too
where can i buy phalaenopsis seedling,
I really love the ones with orange. The one on your left and right in this video at 10:15. Could u pls give me the names of those
I fill the container with water and leave it for 20mins then I drain the water completely, my orchids are not in any type of substrate I intend to have them wrap on a trunk bark with sphagnum moss attached to it, so they can wrap their roots, I also use aquarium glue to hold them up there, so they don't fall of the bark, that way I spray the orchids instead of watering them, that way they have no water that stays behind to rot the roots
I was given a mini during winter and I haven't taken care of one before it's a little unnerving
Another GREAT video! I have one miniature in my collection, a WalMart rescue. It bloomed for six weeks last fall and is now just about done pushing out a new leaf, so I assume it's happy. I'm curious, in one of your mini's you have a glass tube coming out of the medium. I assume that's for water. Could you explain how it works, the benefits/shortcomings and whether you recommend it or not? Thank you.
I suppose that was the Lechusa pot, self-watering and the tube shows the level of water.
Hi, it's the water level indicator in one of my self watering pots 😊
@@MissOrchidGirl Thank you. I'll re-watch that episode.
Totally agree. The main problem for my mini phalaenopsis is it has grown too big! I have one white mini phal that I bought from Ikea 4 years ago. It was potted in a 2.5 inch pot and flowers once or twice a year which is nice, but the leaves are growing too big and the root system is huge so I have to keep it in a 5 inch pot. I wonder if it is really a “mini” hybrid, or I repotted it too soon so it have the nutrition to grow huge.
