This worked on my 08 JDM spec legacy GT. The trick is that you need to start this process within 3 seconds of turning on the ignition. Once I found this out (by reading something online) I got it first go!
I left the pipe to the airbox loose after a filter change (because I'm a knob) and started it. the engine light came on and the cruise control light flashed. Used this method (after slapping my own forehead) and they both miraculously went off without a reset. So thanks..
First go! Legend, it didn't bring me good news, stuck shift solenoid error. Car got stuck in second gear while in sport manual shift. Pulled over turned off restarted in drives all fine. Will clear codes and do some local driving, trans oil levels look fine , no burnt smell, solenoid is about a grand to replace :( the full unit.
I got it to work in my 2008 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited. The only thing to add is that you have to hit the button sequence in the first 10 seconds of the startup check.
worked on my 2009 Forester. I was waiting for the lights to turn on at first, didn't work. As soon as you turn the keys and the warning lights turn on, start the sequence.
My Subaru legacy ex Japan can't start. The engine light not showing the when I turn the ignition on and tempereture gauge imidiately goes high. When u turn on the car all seaboard lights goes on and after 2seconds they go off but engine light is not comn on.
@@ragweedmakesmesneeze Mark that isn't true you can have plenty of body control unit errors from trivial to very serious that don't cause a check engine light.
Jack and Luke Music Channel Well it was supposedly a problem with the module not communicating with the abs unit.... but there were lots of historic error codes still in my car that I couldn't see, that had not been reset from the previous owner. So my mechanic just deleted all historic codes, and the lights went out. I filled it with diesel two three days ago, and as soon as I started the car up after filling, the lights came back on. So awaiting payday, before I book it in again.
I just gave it a noble effort, actually 10 noble efforts, with no success on my 2002 Forrester😭 she turns over, but won't start. Too bad I don't have a code reader😭 25 miles away from the nearest town...
I could not get this technique to work on my 2005 Subaru Outback. One thing I noticed that I don't see in the video is that every time I turned the lights on, the odometer display dimmed, as it is supposed to do. It's odd that we don't see that happening in the video.
@@ib141 - This was a while ago and I don't remember if I was able to get this to work on my car, which is also a 2005 Subaru Outback. I think I wasn't able to get this to work and ended up borrowing someone's plug-in scanner to get the codes, but I'm not entirely sure. Sorry for not being able to give a more definitive answer.
I have a 2012 impreza. I have the trip button and the info button. Also, I have an auto setting between on and off for the headlights. I've tried different combinations and nothing works. Anyone else have any luck?
This is for later model I think, you want to go near the fuse box and plug a white connector. Anyway search "Subaru 2006 diagnostic mode" and you'll find result for our 2006's
Truely a magician at work. You need to be put on the front cover of Times magazine , Man of the decade.
Thanks! Worked perfect on a 2009 Forester. Tried about 4 times to get it right
Thanks much mate. This worked perfectly on my 08 Outback, and saved me a trip to the mechanic.
This video is fantastic. It was so helpful for finding ABS codes on my 07 outback
Saved a trip to the garage - thank you good sir.
Awesome man!
Worked for me in a different way but playing I could get it!
Thanks for sharing!

thanks! worked on 2009 outback 2.5i
Thanks. Works on a 2010/2011 N/A Impreza

Thanks worked ..lights are on the other side in Australia
You legend! Will try it mate!
Thank you P2109 = Give car and vallet to mechanic. It seemed a bit random how to get the code, but it worked on third attempt. Legacy 2007.
Hi. I'm prolonging your videos with admiration. 2011 legacy 2.0 causes me to have received the p0700 fault code in my atmospheric pain
This worked on my 2007 Outback 2.5 SE. Thx
didnt' work on my 07' Impreza
A thousand Thank yous. It worked the first time. Got me codes and now I'm off to discover what is ailing my little Forester.
What year?
Excellent, thanks very much

It worked on my 20011 legacy.
will this work on 2000 forester. i cannot get a tool to scan it
Worked on a 2007 JDM Subaru Legcay GT
FWIW, did not work on my 2005 Outback
I did this, got two dashes that didn't go away until I turned the ignition off, and now the check engine light is gone. Did I accidentally reset it?
Thank you so much

Did anyone solved this on Forester 2006?

Didn't work on my 2007' Impreza
Cheers thanks man much appreciated 👌
Anyone knows if for subaru impreza 2016 it works?
I don't have a button to push at that location and referring the button as '' that'' doesn't help
Worked on an 09 legacy TD - MAP sensor for me D:
wasn't easy, but yeah it works on european impreza gh 2.0 engine, thanks man!
Neat. But how on earth did you find this trick?
Magic!
Hey mate I'm in Australia does this work if the light 8ndicator stalk is on the left instead of the right side
Yes it does mate
Worked on my 2007 Liberty/Legacy GT Spec.B but didn’t throw any codes! Just had P--- etc
Tried on my 2016 Forester XT but didn't work. :'(
lowkey thought this was a troll lmao. thanks.
Hey! I did this on my legacy, Just to try it out. It says p---- and c----, does this mean there are noe fault codes or that someone has cut a wire?
If you don't have an illuminated Check Engine Light, then you do not have any error codes.

@@samd.8911 I stand corrected, thanks!
My car is in limp mode but the cat may need a clean help me
Not worked on my Outback 3.0 2007 European version
can i use this method to subaru tribeca ?
Fantastic mate! Took me a good few times to get it.... got a B900 code, something to do with the power supply. Any ideas what this means?
I got the same code. Do you know what it means? What did you have to do?

Bob thank you for your reply. I am taking mine in tomorrow to have to codes read. We shall see.

Do you know to what years this tip applies? Also, when you say turn the lights on, do you mean only to turn them to parking light mode?
+David Schorow all with a trip computer I think, lights to full

David Schorow try just going to sidelights not main lights - ( so it won't dim)

Doesn't work on mine either and I tried with both the Trip button and the Info button
Damn..that's the car I have and my scan tool cost $100 and is useless
Couldn’t get it to work on my 2010 legacy.

Sebastian, what year is your car?
2007
What mean P0700
Subaru Legacy 2011 doesn’t work :/
But u can't reset the codes?
unplug your battery, step on brake pedal 10 times, reconnect battery codes gone
Also resets the ECU and fuel trims, take it or leave it.
Doesn't anyone have a friend anymore besides their phone to help with anything?
This does not work. I have tried 5 times. Very quick as well. Not working for my 07 outback.
didnt work on 2005 legacy
