Have had this issue on my '13 Impreza for years. To avoid long cranking times I will turn on the ignition and wait for five seconds while the gauges do their sweep and then hit the starter. It will usually start right up. Try it.

I just bought a Toyota Yaris 2021, when I was testing the car before driving, the issue never appeared because they didn't let the car sit for more than 10 minutes (that's when usually starts cranking a few seconds before starting), this is the first video that adresses the same problem that I'm having, gonna try it and I'll see if it get better. Battery is new, so it would be just about changing the spark plugs.

I am currently having this problem on a 14 wrx Impreza. I’m noticing some acid coming out from the positive terminal. Also making my CEL come on. Should I replace the battery first and go from there?

Got a 2018 Forester with the slow cranks. Just got the battery replaced , and the spark plugs were done a few months ago. I’m not sure if it’s the starter now that’s dying , but it’s still making that noise. Any thoughts ??

mine is the opposite? this happens when its cold and when i havent used it for a couple hours. ive changed the spark plugs, coils, and the wires. How to know if it is the battery? I have doubts that its the problem it seems fine, My last thought could be the fuel pump but idk.

    Have had two recent Subarus
Both seem to take "longer" to start than other vehicles. I think that is just a Subaru thing. Weak starters and lower CCA stock batteries

Hey Kurt thanks for the video. My legacy 2013 manual transmission has a similar problem of a long crank but only after the car sits overnight or all day while I’m at work as opposed to you where you’re saying it does it when the car is warm.
    Battery is new
Nothing is draining the battery overnight
    Starter has enough power
Any idea what it could be?
    Thanks!

Why do I feel like Subaru owners have battered spouse syndrome? Always making excuses why they stay loyal to cars with so many problems. It's like a hobby car. Always something to fix. Almost like it's fun to determine what the issue is and how to fix it.
