Same. I’ve been doing my own hair since I was like 15 and I swear I like the way it turns out when I do it better, lol. Once you get the hang of doing the back, you’re good to go when it comes to “simple” things like root touch ups and highlights.
Me too they have ruined my hair I’ve talked out nearly a thousand pounds and even got my hair chopped when I asked for a trim what a waste, doing it my self now like I used to
Girl, I've been doing my hair during the 2 lockdowns on my own and the fact that this was your FIRST TIME and you even did this ON YOUR BED is so freaking impressive. Good JOB!
I see why that is easier to do, however my bottom layers are often brighter than the top when stylists do this (super thick/a lot of hair). Is there a way to avoid that?
This looks absolutely incredible! ❤️ I have recently had a terrible mishap with darkening my (naturally) dark blonde hair. After a trip to the salon to have highlights put back in throughout, I STILL have so many brown, now fading to orangish red, pieces everywhere--plus, my hair didn't look even close to as fabulous as yours did in this tutorial! I have done my own highlights at home before for years, which I went to cosmetology school right out of high school, but back in the "cap highlighting" days! I need to try this--thanks so much for posting!
I've been doing my own for a while now but I've never done a root tap before... gonna be trying that out next time! Also, a little tip for getting the back: I hang a mirror on the wall (directly across from my bathroom mirror) so that I can see the back. It's a little weird at first because you're working off what you see in the mirror so things are flipped, but it's definitely do-able. Great job!
Wow. That looks awesome. I can't believe how the color is so nice and blonde, where in others tutorials it turns out yellow, and they need to do toner to fix the yellow. Fantastic job. I want to do it on myself ASAP.
I’m a stylist, and I approve this video!!!! I also use redken flashlift & shades EQ in the salon and it’s really a great quality product. Quality product, placement, and patience is the key!!! Great work girl! 💞
It turned out gorgeous! Can you please tell me where you purchased the Redken 6N toner from? The links you added aren’t clickable & don’t work manually either, thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this! Your hair turned out so beautifully, well done. I'm gonna try this and I'm so nervous. Did you use a toner?? I noticed in the tutorial you followed she ended up doing a follow up video about toning. Your results were great so maybe I don't need one! My coloring is very similar to yours. If you did tone it can you tell me which one? Thanks xx
This was so entertaining to watch, and so relatable. I've only done my own foils once, for lowlights, and felt the same way you did while doing it. It took forever, but I liked the end result. I'm about to do my own babylights, wish me luck :\
As a natural very dark brunette bleaching is so fascinating to me. Like, looking at most blondes’ roots I’m shocked by how naturally dark their hair actually is
You killed it! Beautiful😍👏🏽 It would require me feeling extra adventurous, a redbull & an adderall for me to take this on. Highlighting is tedious. I’ve been bleaching my hair in quarantine as well and though it looks great, I miss the salon experience :( on the bright side I’m saving $200-$300 every couple months!
I am a hairstylist…..you did an amazing job. It looks great……I need to do my own blond highlights Probably be doing mine tomorrow. It makes me feel so much better when I highlight it Just feels bright and cheery with blond highlights.
You look great!!!!! Great job! My highlights cost me about five dollars at home and they cost me about 75 in the salon… Why not just do it yourself? And the big bonus is you get the highlights exactly where you want them! Absolutely lovely!
I kinda double tapped on your video when I saw the results because I was eager to put a thumbs up. When I really went for liking the video, I actually discovered I had already seen it (i think years ago) and already put a thumbs up. Anyways, two thumbs up isn't enough! I want to raise my whole hands for this result! I LOVE IT!
Hello, Your highlights are wonderful! Did you use toner on them? or just washed them twice and did the Redken 6n root tap. You mentioned about a toner at 11:14 minutes of your video. more people asked you about it. thanks
I've been watching videos for days and yours is my favorite. You're so helpful and detailed. Also you're so cute and I was laughing so much at the stuff you were saying... "tap that root" and "yes. I'll be taking appointments" lolol so good. Thank you for this video. I feel like I can do this now. You gave me the confidence I needed
Your facial expressions and opens maybe I shouldn’t do that is me every time I do my own hair even though it comes out awesome it’s just part of the process and a little overthinking 😂❤ your hair looks Ahhhh mazzzzing also ! 😊
@@elannapecherle I BOUGHT THE STUUUUFF!! :D I had NO idea Sally's was an option! We moved from Seattle to Cork last summer and I'm just delighted at these bits of familiarity that pop up. Thanks for this, you brave, wild woman. Let's goooo!
I just ordered all the products to attempt this myself after watching your video 🤩 my one question is, it took you 3 hours to complete the foils you said? So the very first foil was processing for 3 hours? My hair tone is just like yours and I have previously processed hair.
Professional stylist here, if you can, time yourself from the second the first foil goes in. Then remove that first foil once it goes up to an hour at the most. Even if you haven’t finished the foiling yet, remove as you go along. And if you feel that’s too complicated, buy two separate peroxide’s/developers so maybe 10 volume and 20 volume, or 20 and 30 so you can start with the low volume and end with the highest. Meaning the low volume developer will develop slower reducing the risk of breakage. In addition, you can add conditioner to the previously bleached hair in the foil to make sure the bleach doesn’t process on that area. Just be careful as any hair with conditioner on it won’t lift evenly so only use it on the previous bleached hair. Hope this helps☺️
Honey, I’m old and trying to find help on UA-cam. You did such a fantastic job!!! Thank you so much for the video! I appreciate it more than you know! And for the link!
This turned out wonderfully!! Nicely done. You mentioned you didn't mind if it lifted yellow because you'd be toning it...did you use a toner? If so what product was that and how did you apply it?
Wow, you read my mind, I was just wondering how to do highlights at home. I was doing Garnier Nutrisse colour all over but now I’m think of doing highlights 💕💕🌸🌸
This looks better than what I get at the salon

As a hairstylist, I must say I am VERY impressed! Everything from our “language” to the techniques used.. good job!
Another tip for you is go from the bottom up with your foils, helps keep it from being messy or hectic to do.

Hi Laura! Would you mind sharing where you got the Redken Shades EQ gloss/toner?
Pro tip, start from the bottom of where you’re highlighting and work your way up that way no fools are in your way. Amazing job!
I would suggest using a 20 volume developer so you have enough time to work and take your time so it all processes the same
