Cricket is a bat-and-ball game that is played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a 22-yard pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps.
The history of association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, stretches back at least to medieval times. Some predecessors of football may date back to ancient Greece and Rome, and similar games were played in ancient China and Japan.

Agree with you, in fact football is originally a winter sport in UK so it proves that it can play at any conditions.
The actual reason. It's embedded in South Asian culture, otherwise it wouldn't even be the 3rd-4th followed sport in the world.
@@miguelbesana6468 I can't remember for the life of me where, but I read somewhere that the whole world had seasonal sports just like food.

The main reason football is more popular than cricket is, 'It doesn't take much for a fan to track the game.' If you're a casual cricket fan like me, you can easily follow a football game, but even a smart football will have difficulty keeping track of the game of cricket.
Football is based on pure instinct, whereas cricket can be considered more an art than a regular sport.
And about club culture, there is not a single chance that club cricket will ever be more popular than internationals.
Valid point!

IPL is not a club tournament it has a franchise team, cricket doesn't have club culture like football.
I think the main reason is sheer intensity and simplicity. A football match keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
Yeah!
That is true.
But cricket can also rise. I have a feeling it might replace Baseball in USA
I'm not sure about that. Most of the time there's nothing going on. I saw a game and some football fans claimed that the half was intense but the scorecard was 0-0.
It's the literal opposite , football at the edge of your seat is so wrong as at the dying minutes of the game the winning team can just pass and play it safe whereas in cricket and because of the game's nature where both teams do not have an option to play it safe are forced to play aggressive abd that's real hype
@@tanmaysalunkhe4483goals is not equal to entertainment, if the scoreline is 0-0 then the defence of both teams should be appreciated cause they are a part of the game as well- for offence they act as the defence...they are half the game

Cricket will never progress until it becomes independent from BCCI. The domination of BCCI in ICC preventing all kinds of progressions it supposed happen. For example, Top 3(India, England, Australia) takes up almost 70% . And 20% other 9 Full members nation and only 10% goes to other 150+ associate nations as funding. How will it grow. How will they afford better facilities, training, equipment? And without those how a country produce great players. BCCI's actions are making sure Cricket only played by 10-15 teams. And India always remain at the top. And that's why cricket losing more and more popularity even in the nations where it is already well established.
Great insight!
What you have told is a well known fact. Over the years ICC has been doing things to ensure that cricket is dominated by nations like India, England and Australia. They don't want other nations to develop in cricket. ICC has many strict rules that don't allow associate nations to play regular bilateral series against full member nations. Moreover, England and Australia often reject playing series against bottom ranked teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland and Bangladesh etc. Most ICC officials and staff are from India, Australia and England and they all make plans to keep cricket strong only in their respective countries. They never ever had any intention to make cricket popular across the globe.
@@FutureUncertain7881 Say what you want about England. But when they were in control atleast things were even much better. Whatever they were doing back then was atleast discreet and 100 times less than what India is doing. India is blatantly showing partiality and they don't even care.

They don't give you time to breathe with the ads as well, like any time there is a wicket they immediately cut the broadcast to an ad and don't show the players celebrating or anything. Recently Tanzim Sakib, a player in the Bangladesh national team got fined like 15% his salary cause in the game against Nepal he had a heated exchange with a Nepali batsman that lasted like 2 seconds and that's such a harsh fine for a mere 2 or 3 seconds of sledging and that's something that takes out the fun too like don't get me wrong I don't like to see players get hurt or fight or anything but we the viewers like it when the players get passionate and heated in a game like that, it feels lively. I think the whole "gentleman's game" moniker that Cricket has needs to come off unless it's in relation to Test Cricket

*3 formats of the game.
Cricket is the only sports perfectly made for television.
@WalknTalkVlogs yea it's like a tv show (mostly test) but Other sports like football Is actually like a sport and who would waste on watching a test match for 6 hours other than ashes
@@noname-669 Switch to T20 and save time on boring football games most of which end in draw.
T20 is 3 hours. Football is 2 hours. T20 is a thriller action movie like a Tom Cruise movie.
30% of Football matches are like a documentary. 😂😂😂
@WalknTalkVlogs In Cricket there's no atmosphere like chants and flares
@@WalknTalkVlogs and the reason Football is more famous is because in cricket there's no ads after every 6 balls

My family migrated to England when I was 12 years old from Sweden
i first time Heard about this game when I visited India to attend the wedding of my colleagues Dhiraj Shelatkar and Sakshi sidhwani they're are from mumbai india
I have seen kids playing this game cricket in ground when I travelled to wedding destination from airport,I asked to Uber driver Why they're playing baseball with flat sticks, then he said it's cricket
It's second most popular game in the world , he started to explained about it,he said it's popular in england Australia and South Africa etc I literally lived in those countries still never heard about this game
, I understand that Indians are mad about it, it's part of their life
No one can ever compete with football it is a global sport every continent is mad for this beautiful game
Btw IPL is becoming a big tournament
Yeah
It's good your trying different content also i think football played by large numbers of country than cricket t20 would be the future of cricket
Thanks man! And yeah football is definitely way more popular
Football requires way more skill and ball control takes years to master.
So how will cricket become for popular and global.??
Can you make a seperate video on this...❤
Football ⚽ isn't Just a game it's a Passion and a Dream.

@@officialsportica I think a main reason is because Cricket is a sport adopted by former colonies of England, while Football has always been a huge sport everywhere, its the beauty in simplicity. I love cricket and its actually growing faster than ever, so one day we will be the same or even bigger as we are bringing cricket to the USA.
@@hmm9705if they introduce shorter version 100 years ago, cricket would be better position now

You would be surprised
Most Pakistan is outside of Punjab do not like cricket either
Many doesn’t realise that even though most say that cricket is only mostly popular in South Asia and Oceania they are very wrong as India has 1 .42 Billion pop alone and is basically almost the size of Europe and you could simply say that India’s states are like Europe’s countries with more population just bcs it is a large country doesn’t necessarily mean it is just one country it is of different cultures and it is very easy to conclude in fact cricket has become increasingly popular as T20 burst into the scene and it is justified as almost every state has cricket as its most popular sport while Europe has football
Argentina Cricket team is Growing with Indeginous players. Icc should help them.❤
Bro you feel so American you don't need all that when playing in pakistan or India we need is wicket (tenis)ball bat that's it
Valid point!

True!
It has good chance in Africa bro like Zimbabwe, south Africa,Kenya,Uganda, rawanda and etc were cricket is growing huge
That's why it's 2nd best not best
It has large following in Oceania as well
Also England and Australia
There is a massive amount of people who are primary cricket watchers but also watch football secondarily if you completely separate the two sports and tell them to choose to watch one sport there won't be much difference
Football getting viewership from all over the world but cricket getting viewership majority from India........
almost every cricketers watch fifa world cup ,euros,Copa America, laliga, epl,Bundesliga etc and have their favourite teams and favorite players and they tweet about their favorites openly on social media and brag like super fans...but u can't find a single footballer who watch any cricket match..😂bcs cricket as a sport is alive only bcs of indian diaspora and is boring slow where even physically handicapped looking players like ashwin kumble can become super stars😂it is unfair criticism on cricket if u compare it to football ❤cricket should be compared to ludo ,carrom etc🎉❤
Because football is easier to play and can be finished early and is a lot more fun
Nice joke 😂

just look at the super 8 fixtures 😡
this game i mean cricket will never expand cause of some rubbish indian fans that's reality

The most important Sportica video we have been yearning to watch.
Appreciate you man!
Something is always happening in a football match!
Why the hell I have that feeling for cricket but not for cricket because in football in 100 minutes they'd just score 3 goals 😂
Football keep the audience engage each and every second of 90 min.So it is main reason.
💖💖💖
While I agree that cricket will never be as popular as football the real reason is that football requires no special equipment.
The rest of the “reasons” weren’t reasons. Just evidence that football is already more popular by a huge margin.
But I guess since this needed to be a video longer than 30 seconds the author needed to fill time somehow lol
haha I tried to explore different points 💖
To play cricket you just need a ball and a bat.
One thing that depleted cricket popularity and charm is the icc rules of punishing aggressive, passionate amd abusive players. I mean how can someone just walk away without showing frustration when he is out. How can a bowler smile after twking wicket. How can their be no sledging. Look at football, players even get onto others face .
I am from india. And we care notthing about football. India has 700 million+ cricket fans. Indian premier league became the 2nd richest league in the world. We are building 10-15 new cricket stadiums. We have worlds largest stadium. Big matches like( rcb vs csk )gets 800-900 million views. What else we want . If cricket is alive because of we indians than it will never be declined.
You should be ashamed of being so trash at football bro

Cricket Could Overtake Football, if proper step to be followed...
1. Test Status For Team Like USA , Netherlands , Nepal
2. Proper " Copa America like Cup " tournament in Cricket
3. Development of Women Cricket in School / University.
4. Investment in Southern African Nation extra support for Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia
5. Smaller Nation like Jersey, Wales , Bhutan , Ireland , Rwanda, Uganda could play great roles
6. Cricket Streaming Should be free in country like Africa, USA , PNG , Russia
7. It Should be included in Olympics
8. ICC should set one rule that one player can play 3 leagus in a year like Domestic league, IPL or CPL
9. 16 Teams for ODI world , 24 teams for T20 world cup
10. Proper Streaming Facility in Russian, Spanish, Portugese, Japanese, Mandarin (chinese)
This could never happen cricket no one like across india
U cannot make the dead man alive by pumping air into its dead lung
One of the main reason is that cricket is very easy to be manipulated, if you want to make records of your batsman you make dead pitches like India does, you will make small boundaries to make your team set world records like England does. Then there is fixing in cricket specially Pakistan SA WI India they do alot of fixing. Recent example is Pakistan needed 47 off 47 with 8 wickets in hand but they still lost, SA needed 30 off 30 on batting wicket where they managed to score 150 in 15 overs but they still lost. So cricket will never become as popular as Football in fact cricket is dying in countries Like England, Australia NZ and SA. India celebrating rigged T20 worldcup victory as if they won football worldcup on the other hand when England won worldcup in 2022 nobody even celebrated and even 98% England nation didn't even know that they have won worldcup.
that's because football is played by all over the world scene it’s started but about cricket, some country doesn’t know's that cricket game exists
even if i love cricket it needs 100 or more years to reach even close to football
Yeah we gotta wait a lot more years to see that day!

True
Same
This is a very well done video. Another thing I feel which you somewhat touched is the year-long entertainment. Football gets around 2 months of break which isn't necessarily true due to WC, Copa America, Euros and Confederations Cup in four consecutive years. Club football lasts from August to May, the Champions & Europa League end in June. There's always something to watch for the average viewer. Meanwhile in cricket, due to the international focus, periodic series means that there is a lack of watch time.
Thanks man 💖
Cricketers play Football as a warm up game. That's it!
The gentleman nature of cricket is greatly misinterpreted here. Just watch an India vs Pakistan game in the early 2000s or any current Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka game. Heck even england vs Australia games.
Also club cricket case is also misinterpreted. Pakistan and Australia also have major clubs but yes due to indian politics and gate keeping a champions league like league is not possible.

Football needs Stamina and strength which is not as much required in cricket. For playing soccar you need to be highly fit.
For the accessibility: You can play cricket with just a bat and a soft ball (a hard tennis ball). This means you require no protection of pads and helmet. South Asians countries figured this out. But countries like UK and Australia when regular people go out to play cricket on weekends, they do it the proper cricket way otherwise they don't play at all.
I live in Toronto, during summers it's impossible to find an empty cricket pitch on weekends because clubs have booked them for all summer. And Toronto has hundreds of cricket fields. And who's playing? Mostly South Asian and Caribbean immigrants and most of them play tennis ball leagues so it's super accessible.
As person who played both games, cricket boring even when playing.
