His mother was an insurance agent (again, not exactly a very high earning vocation in India). IPL Supremacy 🔥 Trust me IPL saved Cricket in India especially the youngsters . If it weren't for the IPL , Football would have easily taken over Cricket by now but Cricket is more popular in India today than it was even before . IPL 2023 TV & Digital Viewership was off the charts. You were wrong about that. He mentioned most runs by a player in the history of cricket ever, currently Virat Kohli is on 26,000 runs and Sachin Tendulkar has made 34,000+ runs. He still hasn't broke Sachin's record but time will arrive when he will.
Fun Fact: before IPL, there was ICL, the Indian Cricket League. But BCCI refused to recognise it and banned the national team players from playing in it. After two seasons ICL was discontinued.
Love the ‘football’ instead of soccer and ‘match’ instead of game. So much so I’ll give you a pass that you used the UEFA champions league trophy as the CWC trophy. Great content
Small mistake, at 9:23 you said that ‘Australians preferred Australian rules football’. It had already been very popular long before this, and the sport that actually surged around this time was rugby league.
I'm indian but recently got to know cricket is the national sport there , should rugby union or afl be , whilst cric the biggest in India still india doesn't have a national sport
@@Kmr571-l8y rugby union is nowhere near the largest sport in Australia. Cricket is used as the National sport because it’s the only sport that’s popular around the country. Yes they will just make you feel anything BJP do is wrong with some interesting graphics so people who watch this everyday also believe but not focus on what they did for the players who now can take cricket as career and not just part-time hobby
Prior to T20, New Zealand had a format called Cricket Max which was, for all intents and purposes, the precursor to the condensed format we have now - the one difference being a more equally enhanced set of rules for both batsman and bowlers, rather than the batting heavy game we have today. Great vid!
Poor Indians need to focus on increasing per capita which is only 2600$ rather than doing this nonsense india has the most poor and hungry people living in this world and reduce population and slums
I genuienly think T20 would be more complete if we had 10 over innings over 4 innings. Similar to Test cricket, but in this way both teams can get accustomed to the pitch and not get a big advantage.
A tad inaccurate to say australia prefers AFL and South Africa and NZ prefers rugby. Cricket and those sports or on almost completely different seasons. Cricket in the summer while those sports are in the winter. Most of the same AFL grounds host the big cricket matches
I dont understand this game. But vids like this make me wanna watch and figure it out. Americans have the MLB and NFL. But im curious about why this is such a good sport to watch. I love the story. Think ill check it out today. Growing a sport is important (im a disc golfer, so that point is important to me).
It is a bit of a shame that test cricket is dying out. Sure, T20 is more exciting, but test cricket is unique among modern sports. It's not focused on entertainment or selling a product. It's a sport at heart.

What a phenomenal video. Very informative. Though, I’d like to add one point with the rise of cricket 🏏, there was the rise of BCCI. The Indian cricket board has its own rags to riches story, starting with the ODI World Cup and ending with IPL. At first, the board was actually paying for broadcasting of test matches, and even some ODI matches. Now, they sold the rights to IPL for ₹23 crores. And India will probably win the World Cup too.
I've been watching a lot of the World Cup that is currently going on. My first real experience watching cricket. It's awesome. Even if the matches last 8+ hours. It's the perfect sport to put on in the background while you work on other things. Exciting enough to grab your attention when you need a distraction, but not too engaging that you have to be glued to the TV.

Probably worth mentioning that IPL is so successful for the IPL franchise owners that they now have affiliated teams in SA, USA, UAE, and West Indies, and recently, there was talk of some of those owners trying to buy stakes in England's county teams and their Hundred teams (a new format proposed by ECB where the game is 200 balls long (100 for each side)). India is by far the richest cricket board.
Hello dear , plz correct indian map . The map you are using in dark colour is not perfect picture . Whole Jammu and kashmir is also part of it don't blure that in light colour . Its a big mistake happening here . Kindly Corect it .
I still remember the first IPL match. Brendon McCullum from New Zealand played amazingly that day and if memory serves me correctly he broke a world record that day for the fastest T20 century in the season opener.
BCCI(organisation that controls cricket in India) wants this power to grow more. They have bought other similar tournaments that started in other countries that are trying to copy IPL's success. Their strategy is to buy the competition. South Africa t20 league UAE's T20 league Major league Cricket in US.

There is so much wrong with this upload in how it frames every ICC decision as based on imperialism, race and/or class. I guess you're playing for views, which is to play to the Indian market, hats off to you for your hustle. Shame you could tell the story with more truth, less bias.
One addition here, ODI and test cricket will never go out of touch in our India, nonetheless there won’t be a shift towards t20 as merely popularity of t20 won’t decide the future of other formats
Connecting Indian cricket with upper cast is completely wrong because atleast after independence Indian cricket team is running by those who deserve it by talent not by cast
Chief, the point is that people from higher castes have historically enjoyed greater social/economic benefits from their social hierarchy, people from upper classes/castes have had the time and money to dedicate to being a full time sportsperson as opposed to those from lower castes/economic backgrounds. Sure the caste based discrimination might not be as intense today in most parts of the country but centuries of discrimination still have a large impact in the inequality of our society.

I am good with the video but I'm not okay with why you guys keep showing kashmir as a seperate entity kind of contested zone while its a fully Indian state..
I fell in love with T20 cricket as an American visiting Bangalore in 2016 when I watched an Australia/Bangladesh in Chinnaswamy Stadium match with a British friend explaining the game. I got hooked and watched all the games of the World Cup that year. it's such an exciting and satisfying sport to watch. Never thought I'd say that when I was growing up playing baseball.
Honey I think you have Google right? Just search 🔎 no1 country in all formats. And ICC is literally run now by India. It's like Europe or Britain almost controls football but rarely won World Cup. Does that make any sense to you.
I really love this video but At 5:53 why did you show the upper part of India, that is J&K, like a buffer zone, it's not a buffer zone it is and was the part of India, kindly correct it.
Yes! you are absolutely right, he just showed the wrong map of India, it should be shown the upper part not as a buffer zone but as part of India, kindly fix your geography knowledge @Simple Party
India is right now no1 country in all formats, and has most number of players in best players. ICC literally rn control by BCCI (if you blind you can't see that obviously) . It's like Europe or Britain almost controls football but rarely won World Cup similarly ,but India won 2 odi, T20 and consistent country to reach semis or final, and in test it's the only country to play finals 2 times and it's also consistently (3rd time so soon) . And the best market for cricket so far , profiting ICC .
Yeah, he completely glossed over the role of Australia and how the development of the sport in Aus wasn’t based on class like it was in England - indeed, he effectively to the US political lens and collapsed all of those politics into a simplistic category of it being “run by white men” in Australia, which isn’t a particularly useful (or actually accurate).
100%, didn't suit his narrative. Australia/Packer's overhaul of cricket, both test and ODIs made it possible to watch cricket on TV and help promote it to the masses. Ch9 coverage revolutionised how sports were broadcasts, whether new scores, gadgets. This all helped other broadcasters around the world improve their standards. This in turn got more people to watch the game. T20 is just the latest vehicle in a game that is still evolving. IPL is beast that will eventually eat itself through corruption and exclusion of better international players. It's broadcast must already tow the party line and eventually if it creates a furore, either politically or a prominent player taking a stand in the public arena, things will turn very quickly because of heavy handed nature of how BCCI is run. PS: the 1st country to permit t20 comp and teams to have the best open market, limited restrictions will dominate the field and have best TV ratings/market and monies
@@Playerone1287 coz the whole video was an ode to how amazing the Indian cricket team is and how dominant they are. Yet they're still so far behind Australia on the field
Great summary of the importance of India’s role, but completely glossed over the importance of the Packer led revolution for ODIs and also the early success of the Big Bash League for T20. There’s actually a lot about Australia this gets wrong - including the claim “Australians started to prefer Aussie Rules”, which again just isn’t right. Football in Australia is massively bifurcated across two halves of the country, with Aussie Rules being the main sport in one half of the country whilst the NRL (Rugby League) dominates the other half. But importantly BOTH are played in the winter and DON’T compete with Cricket, which remains the only sport that is popular in the entire country.

Small mistake, at 9:23 you said that ‘Australians preferred Australian rules football’. It had already been very popular long before this, and the sport that actually surged around this time was rugby league.
And in and around the 90s their union team won 2 rwcs, further saturating the sports market

Yeah it would be good to hear about the Australia dominance.
Nothing to do with seasons. The point was that more people love rugby than cricket, thus it is not number 1 sport there, unlike India

There was an Asia Cup to be hosted in Pakistan this year but India said they'd boycott if the venue isn't changed and they changed it to Sri Lanka.
that's because of past incident involving PAK against IND and cricket team.
That's good right ? Any doubts ?
ummmm you missed Kerry Packer’s massive input and influence on the success of ODI’s??
