I simply love your comedy and when it hits it’s absolute gold (which is every vid at this point). Cannot think of a UA-camr that respects our time more than you TD... Thank you for being sincere and thoughtful of us (members and subscribers alike). Keep up the brilliant work and make sure you take good care of yourself. Take time off to recharge your batteries (I know many 30+ people who have or are to this day suffering from burnout. The best people I know and admire actually suffer from that).
    Aaaaaand....
    Since it was you that made the joke about Canadian accent "aboot" instead of "about"...
    I must say I have always wanted to ask you for your personal take on why South Park (especially in their movie released in 1999) poke fun on Canadian culture (and accent). South Park was such a big part of my childhood life where I cannot think of ANYTHING that influenced me more than South Park as an underage goofy kid.
    Stay Awesome ALWAYS 😊

      Thank you for saying so! I honestly try hard to respect the time of my viewers (ironically it takes a lot of time to edit videos down and make them shorter), and you're the first person to mention that!
      I was nuts about South Park for a long while, back in the 2000s. I haven't watched their stuff in ages though. Not because I don't like it, but just because I struggle to watch anything these days (I can't watch stuff while I work or game because I have attention issues). But the first 10 or so seasons of SP live rent free in my head!

    12:24 so if you have a device that doesn't have a low enough minimum brightness, and you use darken, guessing that'll work but you may need to turn brightness up (or the camera showing that shot had a very high ND filter or ISO or something... or both)? Been thinking about an Odin 2 for a little while, and this is one of the things, it doesn't get super dim, does this work for 3D games, or just games via retroarch (which I realise some of the systems in RA are 3d)?

    Great tips! I already knew a bunch of them but a bunch of them I didn't so Thanks!!
    I've had my eye on that Miyoo Mini Plus with Onion OS and your nifty customizations, but I'm mostly looking for Atari games (the original retro games) and I'm not sure the controls would be best for me.
    I like the Atari 400/800 & 5200 & 7800 games that don't require a lot of processing power and are over quickly.
    I have enough home consoles so I don't need more of that. I'm not interested in cheats or save states.
    But I do like Retroarch because I know it will do what I want.
    SD card access and Wi-Fi would be great as well.
    A track ball and extra keys for Star Raiders would be awesome!
    I've tried some Nintendo games and games for later systems and I just don't get it.
    The only games I ever played on DOS were Tetris and Microsoft Flight Simulator. And that's only because I was a work.
    I just think it would be nice to have my favorite Atari games in my pocket where I could pull them out and play them whenever I want.
    I now have Retroarch on my iPhone, but it seems to want external controllers or something so that won't do.

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  7 місяців тому +1

      Pretty much any handheld will run the atari library great. The Miyoo Mini w/ Onion comes with complete sets of 2600, 5200, and 7800 pre-configured and ready to go. You can do Atari 800, but it's janky because so many of those games need a full keyboard (similar to DOS games on handhelds, it's doable but not ideal depending on the game)

    • @lorensims4846
      @lorensims4846 7 місяців тому

      My favorite game on the Atari 400/800 is Star Raiders and that's the only one that uses the keyboard to any extent.
      I'm only concerned that gamepad controls might not be appropriate for games that expect a single-trigger joystick or paddles.

    If you use a frontend In the Retroarch settings under User Interface set Quit on Close Content to CLI so that you can open the quick menu in Retroarch and exit back to the fronted using close content.

    Dweeb thank you so much for making me see the light. I'm going through my RGB30 and deleting all the games I don't care about. A curated 20-25 games per system is much more manageable. I bet after a while I'll even narrow those.

    Check out your local secondhand store - they often have vintage bags and containers that are perfect for storing your handhelds. Also, if you have a bunch of micro SD cards, spend a few bucks for a proper storage container to hold and organize them. Don't just shove them unlabelled into a box willy nilly!

    Regarding #15, it is also fun to make a top 5 per system or per genre, even if you are not pressed for space. I built myself an arcade emulation system (with the whole cabinet and stuff), and I used to mentally make top 5 of games per genre to put in it, since I had limited space at the time. For example, I said "I'm gonna need beat em ups, so I'll go with Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Captain Commando, oh, I can't forget about Undercover Cops!" It was fun to make lists like that. I later bought an extra hard drive and it all went out the window, but it was more than enough the first months.

    Looking for handheld that play ps1 to ps2 and psp what device would you recommend?

    • @TechDweeb
      @TechDweeb  7 місяців тому +1

      Depends on your budget. If you want perfect PS2 you'll need an odin 2 or Pocket S, but if you are okay with lots (but not all) ps2 a good device would be the RP4 Pro or the RG556.

      @@TechDweeb it was a feature that got me into dedicated emulation handhelds. Before I was using my modded 2dsxl but wanted an easy way to transfer my saves from it to my PC and vise versa. Which for some platforms(gba since gba on 3ds is not emulation) it was quite involved.

    Hello. Gotta say I'm getting into this kind of handhelds, your videos are so adictive and good, and I'll eventually gonna pick a RG35XX PLUS but I have one question:
    Can it run small pc games? For example I'm waiting for a game called antonblast it's 2D and probably the sizes of the game won't be that heavy. That's my only question, thanks I keep making this kind of stuff it's really chill

      The PC games you'll be able to run (via custom firmware like MuOS or Knulli) are all viewable here: portmaster.games/games.html
