this helped so much, thank you!! this is the first jaw exercise I've done that's left my jaw feeling loose and normal. I almost want to cry, I'm so grateful that there are people like you who offer such great advice for free
I totally agree .. I loved how my sister was able to open her jaw after spending the whole day not able to say one word ! It got me so emotional seeing her normal again after this short and fast effective video ! Good bless you
My favorite part about this video is its simplicity. You are so talented at bringing the basics forward and letting them highlight the show. Its so profound! Well done, Ian
THANK YOU!!!!! I thought I had severe tooth problems, severe pain. My new dentist told me it's TMJ, not my teeth. I tried this technique, and I haven't felt this good in months. Simple and easy to do at home. Thank you for the simple video. Also, thank you for giving this information for free. It has helped me immensely!
OMG after doing the second exercise, and following instructions of NOT expanding to the "pop" point, only after 3 minutes for the first time in years my jaw isn't popping when I open it all the way!!! That is incredible! I tried all sorts of muscles but never had such a relaxed jaw from one specific technique! This is day one, I can't wait to report what it feels like one month from now! I may be exaggerating but I feel like I have a whole new head on my shoulders. Even my stress feels lowered. What a find on UA-cam, thank you so much!
That's excellent! Take it slow, resist the urge to "test" constantly (I used to always do that and thwart my own progress, so I speak from experience), and ice as needed. Best of luck!
I have tmj this is my first attempt at self-massaging my jaw and it was instant relief. There was so much tension on my jaw before I did the first bit. THANKS!
I suffer from bruxism and have had all sort of ear issues with pressure and ringing. After doing some sinus drainage and ear drainage massage I decided to look for a video for TMJ inflammation. My right ear was so plugged up and ringing, then after doing the first part of this massage I noticed the ringing and plugged feeling has greatly diminished. Definitely going to save this video to do again and again. Thank you for posting it!
@ Yes, but I have to keep at it. I ended up doing physical therapy for my neck and jaw and that really helped. I’m still working on addressing the cause of my jaw clenching because that really is the root cause of it all.
Hi ya. I've had TMJ since Dec 2020. I'm taking pain killers for it, been doing the first excercise for a week and noticing my pain is reducing, going to give second excise a go before going to bed. Really hoping over time my TMJ will not be so painful. Thanks for the grate video.
This is one of the best videos I’ve found for jaw pain. I had upper and lower jaw surgery 5 months ago and my jaw muscles have been incredibly sore and tight throughout recovery since; this has helped tremendously!! I just wish I would’ve found it sooner!!
God bless you! I’ve been running back and forth to the doctor for Vertigo symptoms for several months. My ear has been thumping and buzzing continually. I did this procedure one time and already felt relief for the first time in weeks. I’ve been praying God would give me wisdom since the doctor has been unable to help me. He led my path to you. Thank you so much!
Insane man! Came in with a bit of skepticinsm yet your technique literally helped within minutes… Gotta keep that in mind for migraine attacks and general discomfort, thanks alot!
So grateful! I find that when I feel uneasy, it tends to link to a dull ache in the top of my head. Then I remember that maybe, just maybe my jaw is tight and lo and behold, I do this exercise and all is remedied! Thank you so much for the reminder and your expertise!
OMG! I'm glad I came across this video. I've had this for years. Sometimes it's just too painful, traps, jaw and temple. This felt so good. Thank you very much for sharing. I'll do this from now on.
5 years later and you're still helping people. I was crying earlier because of the pain and twinging pain from right behind my jaw, and this helped so much. TYSM
Really going to try this consistently. I tried it last night and didn’t feel anything right away so took some Tylenol and fell asleep. But this morning, everything seems so much better! Thank you for the content.
i dont have jaw pain but ive had TMJ on one side of my jaw for a couple months and its rather annoying to hear the click when i yawn, talk and chew. thank you! this helped a lot!
What a wonderful, simple, effective treatment. Thank you for your generosity in offering this for free. I hope you will receive compounded reward for it!
I have tn as well as tmj so actually doing this is really painful and causes small attacks in the moment, but a few minutes after i feel so much better and so relaxed, thank you so much ☺️
I’ve had such a sore jaw the past month due to a medication I was on. I stopped the medication and was still in pain two weeks later. I did this massage yesterday and today I am back to normal. No pain at all. Thank you so much 😭 I was thinking I messed myself up forever.
Thank you so much Ian! I have been having issues with my jaw since January! At first I thought it was a migraine but was told it was TMJ. I really appreciate this video because I was looking for something that I could do to help with this issue. Again, thank you!
Oh Dr thank you from Australia. Out of all the TMJ vids on youtube , this one only worked. For 24 hours I've had severe TMJ which is not uncommon for me . But serious this loosened a bit and was very relaxing. Thank you so much
This is the next day! I am so grateful to have found this video! For the first time in a month, I’m able to open my mouth to chew *without* hearing the popping noise! 🙌🏾🎉 Thank you! 🙏🏾
I clench my jaw all day all night. Chew straight through mouth guards. Dentist said my teeth are going to be smooth from the clenching. This massage felt great! I'm going to keep doing it a few times a day, and before bed
I developed a migraine from crying all day and realized a lot of the tension was in my jaw (I am hypermobile). I wasn’t responding to any medication and this has helped a ton. Thank you.
Wow, this reallly helped. I've been using antibiotic ear drops for the feeling of fullness in my ear. After I read about TMJ, I started thinking maybe it's not an ear infection. My ear stopped hurting after trying your exercises. Thank you!
Wow, this is really helpful! I don't have TMJ, or at least didn't have issues until the pandemic started. Even the light pressure of a mask makes me clench my teeth, and I've been getting lovely headaches and sore face from that. This lovely quick technique made me feel so much better. Thank you, sir.
I’ve had TMJ for over 20yrs & have tried everything. I’ve worn a night splint to bed for years to help with jaw clenching. Soo many doctors/dentists with differing advice, apart from recommending Botox injections regularly which are way too expensive where I live & not a long term answer. I’ve tried meditating, relaxation videos etc which haven’t stopped it but are nice to listen to anyway lol. TMJ has caused me to have vertigo on & off for years, I’m wondering if anyone here has had that from TMJ also? I loved your video, I haven’t tried this technique before & am hopeful given all the positive feedback comments. Thank you
Hi, yes I’ve suffered from vertigo for 20yrs from TMJ jaw clenching in my sleep. Have spent a fortune on doctors (none of who diagnosed it correctly) & testing for other things but I knew it was from my jaw. Also did/do all the meditation, yoga, relaxation exercises but whilst nice nothing helped. Have worn a mouth splint at night for 30 yrs, it helped for a long time but recently it’s not. I’m hoping with all my might that these exercises help, I can’t afford Botox every few months even if I didn’t mind having it injected into my jaw muscles(which I really really do!) can you pls let me know how ur going with these exercises & if they’ve helped you at all. My vertigo is getting debilitating now so I’m trying everything I can. Thanks in advance & hope ur feeling better 👍🏻
Bro. Thank you. I know this won’t solve the cause, but even just relief and getting my jaw to relax/rest helps so much. I had no idea what 10/10 pain was until TMJ got me. I now have another weapon to help combat it.
Thank you, …what my chiro didnt tell me. He just cracked my neck and told me to ice. Didnt help. Spent about half hr watching videos and helped wayy more than iceing. So thank youu. ❤❤ god bless you
Glad to hear it! My advice here is to avoid the temptation to double or quadruple this work to chase that effect, but rather to be consistent about a daily practice. If you'd like to make it a bit more potent, you can follow with a towel-covered ice pack on your jaw muscles (look up the location of the masseter) for a few minutes following the routine. Best of luck!
Wow! Thank you. I’ve had serious TMJ disorder with one side over-tense and one side over-loose. These simple moves have already helped the tight side to relax subtly.
I couldn’t believe that such simple instructions would lead to this kind of improvement. I’ve felt the result in a couple of days. Is it possible to have an improvement on my vision? I think it did. Thank you! ❤
I thank you so much for this! I needed this! I be adding this in daily routine. I have been looking for some kind of exercise for the jaw and release it.
I am so grateful & thankful to you. My first try & already in all honesty my jaw feels so much better; it even relaxed me mentally. This helped a lot & I’m going to continue to do so. Thank you.🙏🏼
This helped me so much, thank you for sharing ❤ & thank you for the reminder mid-video that taking good care of our health is worth dedicating time to & being present for
I sure wish I'd found your tutorial before my miserable year+ of expensive diagnostic tests and "treatments" which did virtually nothing (I'm looking at you: x-ray, CT scan, MRI, root canal, crown for fractured tooth, physical therapy, and dental guard). I learned too late through trial and error (mainly error) what you so succinctly and gently explained...a lot of tension in the body is a neurological response to an inappropriate pain loop, and the secret is to slowly and consistently create a new loop of reassuring calm movements within pain range while also providing gentle circulation-stimulation to tissue. Thank you for posting this! I can vouch that you are spot-on. I thought I would never get better because it felt like all medical interventions failed. Your techniques were the missing link.
I used a splint for several years in my 20s, and it was a great way to get this ball rolling. My advice from here (and please run this by your dentist/doctor) is to use mindfulness to build on the training that you got from the splint therapy. The splint got your nervous system used to a bit of space between your top and bottom teeth, so when you catch your teeth touching, restore that slight space and let your jaw drop by a couple millimeters. The more often you catch yourself with touching teeth and restore the slight jaw drop, the more automatic it will become. Also be aware of anything that might train your jaw muscles to clench or grind: Chewing gum should probably be off the table permanently, and things like jerky might need to be a thing of the past as well. The only thing that you can't directly control is what your sleeping brain does, so the best we can do is try a bit of self-massage before bed (as seen here), and trust that the mindfulness training during the day will carry over to nocturnal activity. You might benefit from the occasional return to splinting if your symptoms worsen, so keep your dentist apprised of your symptoms. Good luck, this can be brought into complete remission (and I'm living proof)!

Its wild how freaking intense such a small little movement can be. But man that release kills me. I think every emotion ive ever had is in my jaw and its crazy letting myself just feel that. The other hard thing is knowing like that one little move is enough for today and its not going to feel better tonight, or maybe even tomorrow, but that ive done what i can to help today and one day it wont hurt so much anymore ❤
Such oddly terrific timing!! Ive been walking around rubbing my jaw for days. I get like a stress nonknot once in a while on my left. You look great. I ordered a shirt! Itll be here end of May. Yay merch!
Thank you. This is another great method for loosening my jaws, cheeks, and facial tissue. I tend to find myself clenching my teeth chronically. Ideas like this one give me ways to take care of the tightness when I notice.
Love your videos! Very helpful and informative for the massage community. If you feel like branching out you should think about doing guided meditation or ASMR! I was almost falling asleep during this exercise haha. Keep up the great work!
thank you so much for this, i think i have TMJ and i need more videos like this to help me release all the jaw tensions. please send us more tips! thank you so much
I clench my jaw a lot with stress. This helped a lot, was super easy to do, the guy in the video was cute and had a lovely voice. I will definitely recommend this video to friends! =D
From childhood I eat at right side only after 18 years when I feel the discomfort and jaw deviation and neck muscles imbalance and shoulders imbalance I start eating on both sides went for the physiotherapy many times but all was like for short term relief my head always not in one position the massage showing in this video is awesome we should done the both parts at same time or not and hope this will help more and more 😊
Thank you!!! Not a cure all but pain has lightened up enough to relax and possibly sleep tonight! Unable to take NSAIDs, and steroids only helped for a short time…I’m hoping this relaxes my jaw enough, i can avoid extra appointments!
This is great! It is a very helpful exercise, thanks so much! I subscribed to your channel. Similar to this, i tried softly massaging in front of the jaw and very softly at the back of the jaw, as well as the muscles and connective tissues on the neck, just behind the jaw as well. Shockingly, after doing my three exercises last night, the ones i just mentioned, I woke up completely pain free! And I was in a lot of pain last night, so as you can expect, i was very happy and surprised to awaken pain free after several days of tmj pain. I agree with you, doing these type of exercises retrains your brain to think your jaw is ok and it alleviates the tmj pain, in my case, almost completely. Also, I was using aspirin, with not much luck I switched to advil last night and it was a much better pain reliever... Thanks again, I appreciate your help...
this helped so much, thank you!! this is the first jaw exercise I've done that's left my jaw feeling loose and normal. I almost want to cry, I'm so grateful that there are people like you who offer such great advice for free

i checked 10 videos - your video is the first one that provided some relief. Thank you 🌷

Thank you GOD, for leading me here. And using this person to help for my jaw pain problem, thank you
Thanks for this! Did my 1st self massage and already noticed a difference! Cant wait to see how my jaw feels after a week.

Excellent. It really works. Thanks for the videos Ian. Very helpful. Anne
this was amazingly simple, and quite effective! I've had TMJ pain for years and this worked better then the exercises my dentist gave me. Ty!

Dont forget to take off your glasses before you start. Even though I forgot to take mine off, its still released and feels great. Thank you.
That's a good point!
This just helped me soo much, I was skeptical, but it actually worked!

New massage therapist here! This will definitely help me give recommendations to my clients and help myself as well :) thanks, Ian!
Right on! Congrats and welcome!
Thank you for this video. It helped me tremendously because I constantly clench my jaws, even during the day.
It's help me very much, my tooth pain resolved ☺️ since 3 month ago, I'm amitriptyline free 😀
This is amazing! You saved us we are eternally grateful!!
I couldn’t believe that such simple instructions would lead to this kind of improvement. I’ve felt the result in a couple of days. Is it possible to have an improvement on my vision? I think it did. Thank you! ❤

Just finished my splint therapy for my TMJ disorder. It helped a lot, constant clicking in my jaw has reduced but there's still tension in my jaw
Good luck, this can be brought into complete remission (and I'm living proof)!
good voice tone calmness precision focus lip wet smack pacing and good explanation in live time of the massage, well supported by your language agility and words lexic impressivity. Easy to undersand, get details, while being narated how to do it, why do it, Guided and Informed,
Excellent stuff, thank you.
Oh my gosh, just tried this for the first time and it helped so much. Thank you!!!
Very nice massage. It felt good after so long. Am battling jaw pain for over 2 months now.
If your jaw pain persists, please know that this is something worth pursuing. Your dentist can make you a customized bite guard and more, so if this lingers, make sure to let them know!
Yes definitely plan on doing these again tomorrow. A custom mouth guard is on its way. But in the mean time I'm exploring some self help videos. Thanks a lot for your reply. God bless.
Its wild how freaking intense such a small little movement can be. Every massage technique i've ever learned has been about digging in and pushing around and trying to force the muscle to relax and this was just letting the fascia be fascia and like acknowledging where it is right now and gently letting it relax around my fingers.
Yes! Think of this as a slow convincing process. Best of luck, and be kind to yourself
i’ve been having a headache for over a week i hope this helps
Thank you! I’ve had a migraine for 3 days. I’m a dental hygienist and realize I clench when stressed. I did this and my migraine feels so much better!
This was so helpful thank you! I could feel my jaw release when I got to my temple.
Such oddly terrific timing!! Ive been walking around rubbing my jaw for days. I get like a stress nonknot once in a while on my left.
You look great.
I ordered a shirt! Itll be here end of May. Yay merch!
Ooh nice, send me action shots on Twitter or wherever when you get it!
Fantastic! Instant relief. I will do this a few times a day. Thank you so much.
Tried this for the first time and already feel better. Going to be consistent with this and see if it improves my symptoms
Thank you. This is another great method for loosening my jaws, cheeks, and facial tissue. I tend to find myself clenching my teeth chronically. Ideas like this one give me ways to take care of the tightness when I notice.
Omg totally forgot about myofascial for my jaw and neck pain! Very much needed today. Thank you 💜
First video ive seen and the name of this channel is so great.
That has been absolutely amazing, thank you so much for sharing!
Love your videos! Very helpful and informative for the massage community. If you feel like branching out you should think about doing guided meditation or ASMR! I was almost falling asleep during this exercise haha. Keep up the great work!
Great simple video! Using this as additional treatment in between massage appointments.
That feels so much better, I get migraines with mine and have one now and it’s brought it right back down
My pain goes away instantly after following this exercise
Wow. This felt amazing and you are precious 😊
thank you so much for this, i think i have TMJ and i need more videos like this to help me release all the jaw tensions. please send us more tips! thank you so much
Thanks for sharing. I did it while you were demonstrating and feel more relaxed already.
I clench my jaw a lot with stress. This helped a lot, was super easy to do, the guy in the video was cute and had a lovely voice.

This is amazing, I haven’t felt relief this good in so long! I’m still young too 😂 thank you!
From childhood I eat at right side only after 18 years when I feel the discomfort and jaw deviation and neck muscles imbalance and shoulders imbalance I start eating on both sides went for the physiotherapy many times but all was like for short term relief my head always not in one position the massage showing in this video is awesome we should done the both parts at same time or not and hope this will help more and more 😊
Watching this before bed. Thank you!!
this was incredibly helpful - thank you so much!!
Thank you!!!
Not a cure all but pain has lightened up enough to relax and possibly sleep tonight!
Unable to take NSAIDs, and steroids only helped for a short time…I’m hoping this relaxes my jaw enough, i can avoid extra appointments!
Thanks for not talking and just getting to the point lol. Helped the pain!!👌🏽
Thank you! I had a little relief just with one time. Will do this daily!
Thank you so much! This was very gentle but actually very helpful.
Thankyou so much my jaw feels a little bit lose and I will do this massage everyday now to make it even looser
I'm watching you for thr 1st day and I'm copying you while the video is on! I have a bad tmj problem since years9yrs
Woah your back hopefully your doing well awesome videos 😄
Damn, best tmj massage i found on yt, masterpiece, thanks!
I’m so glad I found this channel, it’s addressing everything I am going through at the moment with my clicking, sore jaw. Thank you! 😊
omg this is amazing thank you ! I feel so relaxed !
Wtf... i did the first massage and i could never touch the area with pressure. Wow it works!
Felt so good. Amazing thank you 😊
This is great!
I'll try this. I woke with severe tmj & googled to find the actual muscle. I massaged it for a few minutes & POOF! Pain gone.
Thank you for this! I also notice you sell merchandise. I pray you get a lot of sales.
