    Risk-Guy here again. What are the chances of damaging the parotid gland by doing these exercises? Is it normal to drool more during them? 1m30s is enough for this exercise? How many times/day or week?

    I woke up one morning with the right side of my jaw in pain and partially locked. I cant fully open my mouth! My wisdom teeth just barely poked thru at the exact same time.. im convinced that it may be due to the wisdom tooth and im seeing a dentist, but im also now thinking it could finally be having problems due to grinding my teeth since i was a child! I hope the dentist will help me solve this mystery 😬

    I have had pain for YEARS. I have constant nearly unbearable pain on the right side of my head, neck, eye, and sinus area. I have had two sinus surgeries, eye procedures and drops/medications, headache specialists and medications, steroid injections, ER visits for intense head and eye pain, time away from work, and different specialists of all sorts. I have been doing this and a few other massages of yours (the temporalis video helped a TON!) and a couple others from doctors I found here. It's not completely gone yet but I have less pain than I have had in forever! If this will help long term - it will truly be a life changing discovery - THANK YOU!!!!

    I have really painful masseter muscles and pterygoid muscles. I have a custom made orthotics, but it is not resolving my issues, How many times can I release these masseter muscles a day and can I do both versions, outside and inside the mouth at the same time. I know you mentioned that the pterygoid muscle can only be done once or twice a day. I have suffered daily with TMD and can't seem to find the best solution or doctor. I was offered Botox for the muscles but if things don't settle down, I am wasting more money and energy. Wondering if you know of anyone on the same page as you in Massachusetts.

I have had TMJ issues for over a decade and was diagnosed with hEDS a few years ago. Hi Doctor Mistry, I just want to thank you so much for this video! I'm a college student and we were on finals last week. I suffer from anxiety, and these week was really tough for me. I was stressing a lot, clenching my teeth even while awake. My masseter muscle was very sore and the pain was very distracting. Over the weekend I just did outside massage, and it kind of worked, but didn't feel that release. But I found this video and did the inside massage, and God, I was finally able to feel the release. So satisfying!

      I wish there was. Botox should help atrophy those muscles if done every 3 months for about a year. But this is expensive and Botox is a neurotoxin. Botox in the masseters can also potentiate sleep apnea.

    any recommendations on what next steps there are if pain & tension don't subside after physical therapy, mouthguard, etc? the masseter release, especially when performed by the physical therapist, was so painful but brought so much relief afterwards. i have been trying my best to self manage, and a specialist here in my town showed me some passive stretches, the "N Position," etc, and prescribed a muscle relaxant for night time / naproxen for day time. Hi so I don’t know if this comment is late but I have a pretty wide face, I’m not sure if it’s face fat or not. From far my face looks like it’s square but I don’t think it really is. I think that massete muscles are large, since I do clench on them and grew up chewing gum. Does this exercise help thin them? If not, what can I do? And before you say Botox I can’t get them because I am a minor.

      I don't have a good solution for thinning the masseters out besides Botox. This muscle release likely won't help with that. Sorry!

    Going to try doing these massages/releases. My dentist recommended I do Botox to relax the muscle there so I don’t clench and that over time I should grind less and less. My old orthodontist said not to do that. So now I’m not sure what to do 😩. I’m having so much tension there and feel myself grind when I wake (thankfully my retainers are there to protect my teeth). But that tension is horrible.

    Can there be a relationship between massetor pain and trigeminal nerve pain and or trigeminal neuralgia? I find it hard to believe I've developed extreme massetor pain, possibly even trismus and trigeminal neuralgia at the same time after a prolonged and forced extraction of a back upper molar. ( all on my left side) The extracted tooth had a root canal and a prolonged infection prior to extraction. A dental surgeon diagnosed me with trigeminal neuralgia and more recently massetor pain. The massetor on the side of my extraction is painful and protrudes into my upper gum. It's been two months of agony despite gabapentin. I'm being recommended to physio but I wonder if botox might be indicated first? Grateful for any thoughts, suggestions you or anyone else might have.

    • @clairebautista5307
      @clairebautista5307 2 дні тому

      I’m not an expert so take everything that I say with a grain of salt, but if you’re saying that you had an infection in the upper molar region prior to its extraction then it’s possible that the trigeminal nerve somehow inherited the infection post-op(?) the signals sent from the nerve could be causing your masseter to swell because the two are closely linked, or the masseter itself became infected as well. I don’t know if Botox would be the best option, it seems more like you’d need some type of antibiotic. If you decide to go down the Botox route or an actual pro gives you the ok, before you do I’d look into radio frequency volumetric reduction first, but that should come after you’ve established whether or not there’s a serious infection because if there is id imagine you could lose a lot more than just a few teeth in the process
