  • This is a 2005 S2000, 130k Miles, Stock header, After market exhaust.
We tested the Comptech Intake that was installed versus an OEM Intake with the AirBox mod. These tests were done back to back within 30 minutes of each other.
This S2000 will be on another video we call 'Silver Dancer' and will be sale after full maintenance and re conditioning is performed.

Life cycle of a Honda owner: Buy Honda, immediately buy aftermarket filter on a stick, throw away stock airbox. Eventually regret buying aftermarket filter on a stick, overpay to replace filter on a stick with a stock airbox from someone that wasn't stupid enough to throw it away. The end.

my understanding is that Honda has always relied heavily on tuning with certain orders of resonance to provide a passive supercharging effect at higher RPM, which is why their OEM airboxes are tough to improve on. great info here on how to keep us from tossing money down the drain.

Just did a bunch of testing last week on my f22 with stock header and airbox with the mod and two 3” air ducts from front bumper into the airbox. It made 231 wheel. Picked up 5 whp going back to stock airbox with the air ducts. Also using the stock air filter. S2000 love the stock airbox and header. Pretty much everything is worthless unless you throw boost at it.

The stock box has an air inlet, and with that hood open and fan blowing at it it’s getting direct air feed. So it’s bound to make more power than a CT intake which doesn’t take advantage of the dyno run with the hood open. Imo it should’ve been tested with the hood closed to mimic exactly what it’ll be like on the street when you actually drive the car. Also, to be more fair.

On my del sol(stolen last montth) i had most mods on suspension. Only power train mods i had was an aftermarket header, lightweight flywheel, stage 2 clutch, and a duct that ran from under the stock filter box to the front bumper with a baby velocity stack at the end but still inside the bumper in hopes of not hydrolocking if it rained.
I gotta say that was some low cost power and acceleration unlocked. I had nothing out the dig and it topped out at 120mph sure, but that little power off a dseries was much more accessible. Honda knows what its doing just follow their drift

That's awesome, that's why I left the stock air box on my c7 z06, it's not a restriction and it's getting nice cold air from the fender, no need for 5 inch intake pipes with big filters exposed to all the engine bay heat.

On the Zo6, typically the intakes are a larger diameter and lean out the factory mixture. You get a pretty bug gain in power and then the ecu trims the fuel back to the factory AF. Been there and done that. Lol. The intakes on the C6Z do work well.

This came on the car when we bought it. I never did see yours after you left. I’m not going to use it, you’re welcome to it if you want it.

Could you cut out that big bulge from the comptech intake pipe? I wonder what that would do.

I wonder how this is with the AP1

The OEM air box with the mod is better all round than aftermarket ones.

What will it do with a factory filter instead of the K/N ?

People make fun of it, but an electric turbo would improve those numbers 😎

Electric 'turbo' (technically electric supercharger, even if its born from turbo compressor half) is great, except it runs outta breath at the upper end. Which clashes with this cars personality.

Direct feed a leaf blower into the intake for more low end :)

Does your mod actually improve power, or is it purely an auditory fix? Planning to buy a 2nd intake for my 2005 and will pull the original mod up the 2nd and roll with it.

Mainly sounds improvement, but we found with some more testing, the most made a small HP gain too. Another testing video soon.

Seems the car made increasingly power every run 🤷‍♂️

We did 4 runs with the intake and the 3rd and 4th run lost about 1-1.5 whp.

Close the hood and the c.a.i. will lose horsepower. Its currently sucking it in from all over with it open. Ive run c.a.i. on every car (for sound) but im removing my JLT on my 392.
