So many things to love about this HEMI Road Runner but the 42k on the odometer is great! I love that it was driven before being meticulously restored! That makes me 😃
Lou you hit a home run with this one, wow! Checks all the boxes and wouldn't change a single thing. And great job with the video guys, really appreciate it!
"Mr Petty, your car has arrived......." It's some 30 years plus now, when Hemi sightings on the street was a rare sight to find; when at the local farmers market here in South Jersey I saw one exactly like this 68, was parked among the other shopper's cars. Black on black, 4 speed. A driver, not a museum piece like this one. To this day, it was the only Hemi Mopar I've ever run across in day to day, real life. Thanks, Lou!
Lou, I’ve loved the Roadrunners since a teenager in 68! This is a “Beauty”. Watched many race at Miami Hollywood Speedway. It’s a wish I coulda, wish I woulda car! Thanks for sharing!❤❤❤
Bob, Happy to read "I’ve loved the Roadrunners since a teenager in 68! This is a “Beauty”" :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
this car is restored perfectly, including the engine! Too many of these legends are over restored with bigger, “loppier” cams, along with “free’er” flowing exhaust headers so they’re much noisier than they originally were when they arrived in showrooms back in their day.
This is a fantastic 1968 Plymouth Road Runner! Its beautiful and shiny black paint makes even the smallest details stand out; such as its striking chrome grille with double headlights, or its Road Runner logos distributed in several parts, along with the eye-catching elongated red rear guides that frame that large chrome plate with the Plymouth letters (special mention for the elongated and thin red stripe that runs along the the entire side corner of the body; a touch of good taste!). It also caught my attention that its interior is black; since, almost always, we are used to seeing them in different colors than the outside. This, in a way, gives a dark and sinister touch to the whole, while highlighting its instrumentation and other subtle details (such as the attractive steering wheel with three chrome partitions and half spokes). Finally, how neat and shiny that engine bay was, with the powerful 426 V8 Hemi painted in orange and its dazzling air filter with that yellow "Hemi Head" logo. Congratulations to Mr. Clinkscale, for showing this dark beauty for the first time in a show! Great video, Lou; with flashlight included hehe! Kind regards!
Hi Jaime, Happy to read "This is a fantastic 1968 Plymouth Road Runner! " :-) I think so too. So much to look at on this one, so it's fun to read what you see, Lou
Oh Yeah Lou, Waking up to another beautiful Mopar with my coffee - a 1968 Plymouth Hemi Road Runner AND a 4-Speed to boot - I'll take one please!! Wow! Hard to believe that these babies only cost about $4,200 BRAND NEW!! Thanks for this SUPER TREAT brother!
What a rare car, black from the factory 👍 Hemi, Hemi, Hemi everyone wants the Hemi. Way back in the day a friend had a 68 and a 69 both 4 spds one Hemi and the other was a 440. The 440 was definitely the better of the two 😎 Thanks for another amazing video Lou, you're the best 👍👍
What a beauty Lou! The paint color, the 4 speed, and a hemi, what more could someone want. Loved the days when these roamed the streets. Nowadays you might see one at a show or gathering. Keep these great videos coming.
Thanks for sharing my dream car at age 17. I test drove a Black 69 HEMI Road Runner with 4 speed and quickly realized this was too powerful of a car for someone that had only been driving for 2 years so I regretfully didn't buy it for $2995.🤔😪😂
Beautiful! Love black cars. So crazy that they are so perfect that they become art work! This is a perfect example of needing two of these - - one to drive - - one to put away in the museum! Love it, Lou. I was looking at the other cars that were around this one! some great examples.
My Father had a 68 Road Runner when I was a kid; then I bought a slightly used one as my first car; both with 383s and 4 speeds. Loved that car and those taillights.

It looks and sounds fantastic! What a great car to bring to a great car show. Thanks for finding and sharing Mr. Clinkscale and his '68 Road Runner with us, Lou!
This was Chrysler Corps response to the growing muscle car budiness. It was inexpensive and extremely fast. The famous Beep beep and was the Road Runners way of saying "I may be cheap but I'm fast as hell. Catch me if you can."

Amazingly this inaugural year Road Runner accounted for approximately 10% of TOTAL street HEMI production from 1966-71. This or it's stable mate, Dodge Super Bee also '68, are on my "bucket list."
Lou, you had me at black. Oh, my! That car is stunning and that black paint sets off those stunning red line tires! And that red paint stripe on the flanks just adds to the intensity. If I "identified as Wyle E. Coyote", would that black car chase me? And then it is a 4 speed manual. I just love manual transmissions and how they make you feel connected to the car's operation. Again, Lou, you just have the magic touch traversing different genres of cars and ages. Amazing channel!

Hi Lou, that 68 Road Runner is amazing, it looks so good in black, if the guy was driving down the road, i am sure he would get plenty of attention, a great car.
68 was, I think the best model year of the American car industry. So many good quality cars came out of that year. This is one of them. Fantastic car! I usually look at anything built by Ford first when I am in the market for a new car. If a Ford or Mercury dealer can't satisfy me, I go to the Chrysler Plymouth dealers. I have owned a Plymouth and if they were still making that brand, I would buy one today, since Ford quit making cars! This Road Runner looks so good, because it was a museum piece, but If I owned it, the car would be my daily driver.
OMG. The stuff dreams were made of. Mine in particular. I could watch Road Runner Saturday morning, then go down the street to my friends brother who had a green one. These were Plymouth's answer to the GTO IMO. His had a 383 in it though. Wouldnt hold a candle to this one.
Hi bshingledecker, Happy to share this "dream car" with you :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Friends Brothers car down the street. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Back in the 80s I was living in Texas ( Round Rock ) I had stopped at a store to buy something and all the sudden in the parking lot I hear this beast pull in. It was a Hemi Road Runner that looked exactly like this one ! Black with red pin stripes 4 speed, bench, dog dish hub caps........ Ill never forget it. I talked cars with the guy for about a half a hour in the parking lot. He showed me his car and man was I envious! It could be this cars twin although it had some road miles so was not quite as nice as this one. He said he was the 2nd owner and had got in back in mid 70s and drove it occasionally. I cant recall how many miles he said it had but I think it was under 30k?

Cool car! I don't ever remember seeing a B&W Roadrunner decal. RR's were usually 383 cars, Hemi is special. Hemi's and 440's were usually found in GTX's. I remember seeing a '68 Hemi GTX on the lot when my parents bought a new Fury III. What no demo of the Meep! Meep! horn???
Hi Automated Electronics, Happy to read "Cool car!" :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you. Did I miss the horn? Ughhh. Here is a video of a Road Runner with the beep beep horn blow at 11 minutes 27 seconds mark, Lou ua-cam.com/video/ilCZeekbRNI/v-deo.html
Lou, this beautiful beast needs to be uncaged. Nothing wrong with car shows, but this car wasn't designed and built to be a show pony. David, get this thing to a Hemmings Musclepalooza event (BTW in 4 different places this year) where you can both show and go that beautiful Road Runner. To me, there's nothing like watching bone-stock muscle cars go down the 1/4 mile. Great video Lou, the '68-'70 Chrysler B-bodies are some of my favorite cars. Why in the world did I ever sell my Plum Crazy '70 Super Bee back in '77- I'm still kicking myself...
Tom (and JudyAnn), High praise. Happy to share this one with you, and I think we've all done some things we wish we could take back, however I think it was Dr. Suess who said "Don't be sad it's over. Be glad it happened." Lou

I have to say … WOW! Always liked this and the Torino styling for mid sized cars of this era. She must be a Blast to drive but no one will ever know lol. 😅
If I can remember correctly, Plymouth paid Warner Brothers 10,000 Dollars (Around 430,000-440,000 Dollars today if I am not mistaken) to use the model name of their car and apply it to the design of their car as well. They paid a few extra bucks for the price in order to use the iconic "Meep Meep" or "Beep Beep" horn. It ended up working, and they also applied the "GTX" model (or Luxury Trim for the Roadrunner) to the car from 1968-1971 as well. It's a real shame that there wasn't no GTX for the 1972-1974 model years, but it was very understandable onto why (Lack of demand for luxury muscle cars being more common and/or muscle cars in general, 1973 Oil Crisis caused by a conflict with Saudi Arabia, and more).
Hey 👋 Lou great job 👏 my friend had one like that right when we got out of high school in 1979 . Don’t remember what his Mom and him paid for it. I just remember that rumbling motor.
Wow...what a car! I always liked Plymouth Roadrunner and GTX. Saw both in my towns classic american carshow. I was so in hyped up and yelled to my friends. Look, look a Roadrunner!!! And then next beside it, there also stood a GTX so I got both cars in one picture. That was amazing! I figured out that we got world's largest classic american carshow in the world, and I counted my towns carshow in and well, according to numbers atleast we are fifth biggest in the country with almost 1 650 american cars and about 1 800 vehicles in total. The biggest I was at last year there where about 11 300 classic american cars only. So yeah, a big differense there. I also like aeroplanes. We have a event in Sweden that is named Wings and Wheels. A classic american carshow with an airshow baked in together. I mean wow, that's so cool. So now I want to visit the world's biggest aviation event and airshow that are in Oshkosh USA. So I guess it is time to start saving money for a long trip. :)
Hi Necronomous, "Wow...what a car!" High praise. Sounds like you have a great car show! Well make sure you watch all the cars you enjoy right here on this UA-cam Channel and please make sure you tell your Car Friends too, Lou
Like number 413! Almost! Ahaha. Woooowwwww..Superclean! We could fry up & eat bacon & eggs on this car and be none the worse for it, ahaha! Such an amazing road runner. The 'Businessmans hotrod!' if i got that right? Thanks tons, Lou for the car story on this ominous looking black bird! This is Alfred Hitchcock level scary looking! And yet...oh so nice, at the same time🙂 ..a time machine, in fact. 😎🖤🖤🖤
@@loucostabile ..this car is Christine's yet more terrifying sister! Ahaha! Yeah, much appreciated. A gold mine of cars at MCACN! ..it's on my bucket list! My cousin John made it there not long ago. He still has the survivor '71 Satellite Sebring Plus, in gold with a 383. He lives in southern Wi, here..still need to get you two in on a 'My car story sometime', you'd like this guy..and his car! ahaha. Thanks for the fabulous channel, Mr. C. 🏁🏁
To my best knowledge should be a Inland shifter Hurst would be later a better piece and not all came with the decor trim panel amazing car happy to have a 68 GTX and a 68 Dodge Coronet 440 someone ordered it with a 383 magnum just like standard on the Road Runner and Superbee great video Thanks 👍 Drive them don't hide them ❤
Hi Anthony, I'm good when I'm around cars. How are you? Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) I think this one looks good in anyone's collection, Lou
So Nice To See Such A Treasure , Love Seeing A Car With A Bench Seat. Also 1968 Was The First Year For All Cars To Have Side Marker Lights A Small Circle [ O ] Front And Back For 68 Plymouths , They Became Mandatory On All Cars In 68 Then They Changed In 69 To Larger Side Markers For The Plymouth And Other Cars Followed Also. LOU Can You Show Us Some More Cars At The MCACN. Thank To You.
Hi James, Happy to share this "Treasure" with you :-) Thank you for sharing your knowledge. There are some cars added from MCACN already and good news! More cars from MCACN to come, so stay tuned. You're welcome, Lou
Great car, but seems a shame that it's been relegated to museums and car shows it's entire life. I get it, but it's kinda like a caged bird. That bird was meant to run!

People still care about good times like that. And good Godly family memories.
We're the same age! I remember riding in a 68 GTX, 440 Mag, auto trans! Driver would bury the speedometer on 2 lane country roads!
Saw this car at MCACN. Best car there in my opinion. Chatted with the owner a bit on social media. Such a treat.
Hi Tim, High praise. Glad to read you had a chance to chat with the Owner of this car, Lou

This Road Runner looks so good, because it was a museum piece, but If I owned it, the car would be my daily driver.
Hi Daniel, Happy to read "Fantastic car!" :-) High praise. Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Nice powerful Mopar
...just the way we like it :-)
Ідеально чудове чорне авто! Дякую!
Hi Сергій, Happy to read this one is "perfect" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Man, love it when Mopars are in all black, they look sinister 👌🏽
Nice :-)
What is not to love about this car. Triple black and that red stripe with the red line tires really set off this virgin Hemi 4 speed Roadrunner😊
Happy to read you love this car :-)
Now this Roadrunner is a muscle car.
Yes it is.
A nice example of a historic time piece and the car that gave the new '68 GTO a run for its money....good one.
Happy to read this one is a "good one" :-)
Hi troynov1965, wouldn't that be amazing if this is that same car!?! Thanks for sharing that memorable Texas moment, Lou
Great loking Road Runner
Hi THROTTLE POWER, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Man what a car!

MOPAR or no car LOU and on Friday even! Another fantastic car. God bless you and have a great day and a great weekend Lou!
Hi Ken InHB, High praise! Blessings received. God bless you, and wishing you a great day and weekend too, Lou
Just Wow.
Love looking back. Manual drum brakes ... 😬
Happy to read a "Just Wow." from you :-)
Lou, this beautiful beast needs to be uncaged.
Good day Mr. Lou.
Good day Mr. Jeff.
Beautiful example, that RR has got trouble written all over it.
Hi Darrin, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) "that RR has got trouble written all over it."....just the way we like it! Lou

@@loucostabile so damn SEXY WOW 👍🏁🤗♥️
Now THAT'S a car!
Happy to read you enjoy this one :-)
That was the strangest sounding Mopar startup I’ve ever heard, great piece though Lou Thanks
Thanks for sharing what you heard. Happy to read you enjoy this "great piece" :-) You're welcome Popie.
NOW WE'RE TALKING !!!
I miss my Cuda.....
Happy to read "NOW WE'RE TALKING !!!" :-) Glad to read you had a fun Cuda.
I have to say … WOW! Always liked this and the Torino styling for mid sized cars of this era. She must be a Blast to drive but no one will ever know lol. 😅
Happy to receive a "WOW!" from you :-) I hope this one will get to go out once in awhile on sunny days.
So nice
:-)
Hi Matthew, Thanks for viewing and sharing what you remember, Lou
Plymouth paid $50,000 2 Warner Brothers in 1967 to get the rights
@@susanbalicki Ah, thank you.
Hey 👋 Lou great job 👏 my friend had one like that right when we got out of high school in 1979 . Don’t remember what his Mom and him paid for it. I just remember that rumbling motor.
Hey Anthony, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful, the black with subtle red accents looks great. Does it actually have chromed drip rails ? or the usual polished stainless steel?.
Happy to read this one is "Beautiful" :-) Hmmm, not sure about the drip rails.
Nice 😊
Hi Michael, Happy to read "Nice" :-) Lou
@@loucostabile I absolutely will. I hope you had a wonderful christmas and I hope the new year of 2024 will be a great year with many carinterviews.
Had those two mob guys in Bullitt driven this instead of that Charger, they would have definitely smoked Frank Bullitt😂
Nice :-)
SWEET
:-)
Like number 413! Almost! Ahaha. Woooowwwww..Superclean! We could fry up & eat bacon & eggs on this car
and be none the worse for it, ahaha!
Hi Tom, "This is Alfred Hitchcock level scary looking!" NICE! My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
Mmm - black on black w/ a 4-speed. Damn!
:-)
To my best knowledge should be a Inland shifter Hurst would be later a better piece and not all came with the decor trim panel amazing car happy to have a 68 GTX and a 68 Dodge Coronet 440 someone ordered it with a 383 magnum just like standard on the Road Runner and Superbee great video Thanks 👍 Drive them don't hide them ❤
Hi Dennis. Thank you for sharing. I like driving them too. You're welcome, Lou
JEEZ! That guy's "buffer" sounded like a 707 on full throttle!! Did you find out if it was made by Pratt and Whitney and if so, I NEED one!! ;@D

Happy to read you appreciate this "Great car" :-) I like riding and driving them.
He must of paid an awful lot $$$
No idea what was paid. I'm happy he's sharing the car with us.
