Imagine in 1956 there were cars this cool all over. She’s a beauty.
"Imagine in 1956 there were cars this cool all over." You're right. "She’s a beauty." You're right.
It's just gorgeous! I love the hood scoop/ornament and the hidden tail pipes through the bumper. I love that it's a driver, too. What a treat for all to see. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to read "It's just gorgeous!" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful survivor and I am REALLY glad Ken drives it. That car is meant to be seen on the road by as many people as possible.
:-)
What a stunner. And this being the “small” entry model.Absolutely beautiful. ❤🖤
Happy to share this "stunner" with you :-)
Fabulous car and loaded with “Bling”! A jewelry store display can’t hold a candle to this! Again the modifications makes this car a much better driver and doesn’t detract from the beauty. The 2 owner story is a story of a love affair with this car. Easy car to fall for! Lou thanks for finding this “Gem” and sharing it with us!❤❤❤👍
Hi Bob, Happy to share this Buick with "Bling" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Keep finding these great cars for us.
I'll do my best.
That’s the most special ‘56 Special I’ve ever seen. My beloved late neighbor Sal and Judy who I’ve always warmly considered my second pair of parents owned one when I was born until 1965 when he bought an Olds 98 LS 4dr Luxury pillared hardtop sedan with the beautiful rear seat console on the back of the front seat with passenger assist pulls and the illuminated tissue box holder with the mirror under the pull down door. He always drove beautiful cars like these. His Special was also a two door because when they bought it their two children were toddlers and they didn’t want a four door because they didn’t want them opening the rear doors but by 1965 they were old enough. These are beautiful memories of wonderful and good times filled with hope for the future. We were headed for space and eventually we made it to the moon.
Hi Bruce, "That’s the most special ‘56 Special I’ve ever seen." High praise. Happy to read this car brings back memories of your neighbors car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Wouldn't you really want to have a Buick!!! My parents had a white 56 Buick Special in '63. If memory serves me, I think there were only three models, the Special, Century and top of the line Roadmaster.

Back in the day we would see 10 or more 56' Buicks a day.
You're right.
My favorite year. My dad had so many of them when I was young I lost count.
Hi mrgransport, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Great restomod. Just saying I like restomods with original looking wheels. But this is a beautiful restoration. Thanks for showing Lou.
High praise :-) You're welcome Tom.
Beautiful Buick! I remember these very well when I was 12 years old. The color scheme is great! (I would prefer original wheels and Buick wheel covers though). Thank you Lou!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read this one brings back good memories too. You're welcome Steven!
1956 and 1955 Buicks are hard to find on the internet. Sometimes I copy pictures and it's a challenge to find these monsters!
Happy to share this one with you :-)
My family had a 54 Buick Special when I was a kid.
I always liked the 54 because it didn't have fins .
Love to have one now.... I'd drop a 425 with dual fours in.
Vroom....
I love what the owner has done with this 56.
Very Cool.
HI Gods own Drunk, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Family's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
My family had a 55 Olds 88 when I was a kid.
I always liked the 55 because of the clean lines and bullet tail lights.
Love to have one now....I'd keep it stock with the 324 that came in it.
Ken has a very beautiful car!! He reminds me in appearance of actor Phil Silvers.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.
Чудове авто і класна реставрація! Дякую!
Hi Сергій, Happy to read "Great car and cool restoration!" :-) You're welcome, Lou
I do like the Conelrad triangles on this old radio. Amazes me that a car in the price range of this Buick had a hang on heater control panel. What was Buick thinking of? Pontiac, of course, was famous in the 50s for beautifully integrating their heater controls into their dashboards, including lighting for night driving.
HI LoveIsAll, Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge and what you noticed. Lou
Great car with a great license plate!
Happy to read you enjoy this car...and it has a great license plate too :-)
Bello ese Buick...😍😍😍😍😍😍💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

My favorite year/style Buick....Would like to find hard top to cruise to "car shows"...😂
Hope you're behind the wheel of the right one for you soon :-)
I wonder if all of the 1956 models had the name in the grill and repeated on the trunk? Love that! Anyone here know if that was the case? Elegantly Beautiful. Red/Black is such a great 50's color combination. Beautiful original condition. This is the day when you drove a Buick, you knew it was a cut above. Not what they became in the late 70's and 80's when the materials, shape, etc. in GM products were all the same. Engine bay was so clean!!! Love this CAR!
Hi Brian, Happy to read "Love this CAR!" :-) If you type into UA-cam search "My Car Story with Lou 1956 Buick" I believe you can see how this one compares to others. Lou
Everybody has different ideas what to do with a car but I know I would have kept this car original, that original owner who obviously loved this car only put an average of 700 miles a year on it , all original interior and no rust ,I would think keeping it original would have been much better and a tribute to the old man who bought it new and cherished it, if it was mine I would have kept it original, old cars are hard to find in that great original shape.
Thanks Ken for keeping it beautiful and alive and using it ,I'm not banging on you too hard Ken because you didn't destroy it by no means I was just adding my two cents in,😃 keep on enjoying it and thank you Lou for your great Channel
Hi Scott K, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
That’s a Buick (mild) hot rod. Pretty cool.
Happy to read you enjoy this "Pretty cool" Buick :-)
My parents had the 56 Buick Super 2dr. hope. same black/red two tone ,had 4 round holes in the fender.
Hi Kerry, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Parents car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many cars on this Channel you enjoy! Please Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this UA-cam Channel, Lou

Driving is safe....it's the stopping that can be challenging :-)
Beautiful car ! Lou thanks for showing us beautiful cars! 😊
Hi Tim, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful car with a great color combination. I Like the big chrome rims. He made some very practical upgrades. Lou you did a great job on the Story. Did he add a dual master brake cylinder when he upgraded to power brakes? What was special about the Sonomatic radio and was the clock running?
Hi Bill, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Questions we may never find an answer for......Lou
Beautiful car Lou, my grandparents had a 1956 Buick 2 door hardtop way before my time. I don't know if it was a Special ot not. I believe that my mom had told me it was Red and White. I wonder if the red and black was a rare color combo?
Hi PlymouthDuster225, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Grandparents car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hey Santa don't forget my list I mailed you!!!
:-)
On the early production 56 Buick's the hood scoop was functional. On later models the black openings were simply painted on . Those wheels greatly detract from the car.
HI Stude289, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Thanks for sharing, Lou
😂 "That's like showing me a pimple on a super model."-Lou Costabile
:-)
When I was about 10 y o guy next door drag raced his 56 on the street a block away. Open headers
That's a fun memory :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Like this Buick better than the tri-five Chevrolets. Custom wheels are not over the top, great addition.
Hi Randy, Happy to read you enjoy this Buick :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Lou I think Burt Reynolds had done a movie with a Buick, not the same year car,❤
Brian, Thanks for sharing you recall a movie with Burt & a Buick.
W.W and the Dixie Dance Kings. It was a 1955 Olds Super 88 Black and Gold anniversary edition.
What a beautiful car. I own a 1957 Buick special. However, the power steering pump that he was showing you is not original 1956. That's 1959 and later.
Hi Frank, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read you owned a 1957 Buick too, Lou
The first car I remember was my Dad's '54 Special, white over maroon. Definitely not "rust free" that's for sure. That car just slowly disintegrated into millions of corroded bits
Hi Tony, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Love the car !
But not everyone loves the color !
Happy to read you "Love the car !" :-)
Belt dressing should take care of that!!!!
Thank you for sharing what you notice.
Beautiful Buick. Although the wheels aren’t my style
Hi Iowa Budget RC Bashers, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Buick. Clearly these wheels you'd pass on. Lou
Why can't Buick return to this old time quality?
....that would be nice.
Wouldn't You Really Rather Have A Buick?
:-)
Tacky wheels need go ... buick sklark wire wheels better fit 😊
Clearly these rims are not for you :-( Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you'll enjoy :-) Lou
Nice car. But your audio sucks.😊
Hi Bill, Happy to read you enjoy the "Nice car" :-) When you're at a live car show, sadly the people don't all be quite so you can hear better...... Stay well, Lou
I don't like those wheels and tires. The original wheels and whitewalls would have looked better.
Thanks for sharing what you'd like to see.
