On "My Car Story" we're at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-13-23.
We're looking at a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S in White Paint. The car comes with the 383 CI V8 engine, and a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Denis Chouinard. Denis’ had this car since 1983. Denis shares he has another Barracuda Drag Car. He was going to make this car a race car too, however seeing this car was so nice he slowly restored it, and today is the cars debut at it’s first car show.

Wow, that's a beautiful machine - and a B-engine/A-body/stick. Very glad he decided to restore rather than race.
Another incredible find Lou - very sweet.
(note of interest: Canada took a full 15 years to adopt SI - from 1970 to 1985 - but many of us still use both systems. My Canadian-purchased '77 Jeep CJ presents only in miles).

That small car has the same engine our (new) '68 Charger had....so I know it means business. This guy did a spectacular restoration job on this B-Cuda and so glad he kept it original and numbers matching. i was not a fan of center only hubcaps growing up but the older I've gotten they've finally have me warmed up to them. Especially since many were on the base model hot rod cars. Thanks for yet another great showing.

Awesome restoration of a fairly rare car. While the later models would be more desirable, this is before the cars became bloated and it is so simple in its design and detailing. Love how the panel in the back folds down to open up the inside from the trunk. My family's experience with Mopar was 50/50. First one was a 1971 Satellite Station Wagon (Plymouth) - excellent car bought used. Worst ever car was a bought new 1975 Dodge Dart with the boat anchor slug 225 slant six. Awful car on every level. Car was sold 2 years later with 7500 miles and we ended up with a 1973 Ford Torino Wagon with 75,000 miles that worked for another 150,000 miles before we couldn't take the 13 mpgs anymore. I so love vintage cars and your channel is superb in every way, Lou. You always bring us variety! Happy upcoming holidays to you and to your family!

I totally applaud Mr. Chouinard's decision to leave this impressive 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S in its original condition. It just looked great with that white color in the sunlight! I liked the aggressive face of the front with those headlights, hood ducts and those elongated Plymouth letters next to the Barracuda fish logo (special mention for the rear, Fastback style, with its sloping glass gently descending towards the stylized trunk and rear guides ). A very nice black interior, along with the instrument panel with those large dials trimmed in wood and chrome. As always, the final walk through that quiet neighborhood was very pleasant; although, with that powerful acceleration of that V8 at minute 9:25, that tranquility has been lost a little, haha. Best regards, Lou!

    Goodday Lou,
Great to see a genuine 1967 Barracuda with a 383.
From what I have read the Barracuda was set up from the get go to accept the 383 unlike the Dodge Dart which was going to be a small block Mopar not a big block.
With pressure & persuasion Dodge fitted the 383 in the 67 but late to the party.
    Abit of history.
You have to agree absolutely gorgeous from all angles & unfortunately Mustang stole the limelight.
Thank you for sharing thoroughly enjoyed it.

My next-door neighbor bought one of these 1967 Barracudas new with the 383 4-speed and every other performance option. I remember the day he brought the car home. That car was dark blue, which gave great contrast to the taillights. Note: The 383 was not part of the Formula S package. Ordering the Formula S package in 1967 got you an HP 273 engine. The 383 was a special order beyond that. However, you could not order a 383 in these cars without the Formula S Package. On the street, the car could hold its own against 396 Chevelles with the 396/325 or 396/350 engines and most Camaros, as well as small block Corvettes. Fords were generally not a problem. This is a great example of the best year for A-body Barracudas. I think they are the most beautiful muscle cars ever made.

    Beautiful Barracuda
I had a white 68 that was originally a 6 cylinder but I purchased it with a 440 police interceptor
It had log chains as motor mounts lol
Nowhere near as nice as this but fun to drive

In 84, one went for $450 at an auction in Pontiac Michigan. I watched it for months but they sold it out of numerical order while I was looking at other cars.
    Ouch.

Thats not the same performance 383 that came in the 68-70 Roadrunners. My first car was a 65' Barracuda hand me down with a slant 6. Soon next came my 69' 383 Road runner, all back in the 70s.

Chrysler did a lousy job of advertising the strength of the 383. Everybody trumpeted the 389 Pontiac - the 327 Chevy but the 383 was always looked at as a sort of reset/why didn't you get a 426/440?
