- This 1968 Plymouth Road Runner fitted with Keith Black 572 HEMI powerplant is one wild 887 horsepower bird.
George was introduced to this 1968 Plymouth Road Runner when he was still in high school. The Mopar changed hands few times and it ended up with him in 1992. Obviously not with the 572 HEMI in it.
The 1968 Plymouth Road Runner came with 3 engines, 2 four speed trannys and Dana 60. It now packs a Keith Black 572 HEMI dynoed at 751hp at 5,300rpm and 887hp at 7,000rpm controlled by built 727 and 3.73 geared Dana 60.
George never missed a chance to demonstrate the Keith Black 572 HEMI potential by doing awesome burnouts during the last 30 years, but he did not race the 1968 Plymouth Road Runner too much lately.

Keith Black built some Awesome motors back in the day!
That's a super Beep-Beep! Keith Black powerplant is a class all by itself. Great video.👍
Thanks brother. Plenty of action in this one 💪
I love this Road Runner 😍,wish it was mine!!! My friend Helen had a Super bee& I had a 72 Orange Demon 😈!!! This Is an Awesome sounding Mopar!!
I hope the story brought good memories 😉
Wicked Mopar! Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
One of the finest we have on the channel. You know, you’ve seen them all 😉
68 and 69 Roadrunners are my favorite Mopars!
This one is my favorite 😉
10.37 is MORE than respectable. Wow...
YES, HEMI’S do RULE the WORLD 😎
Amen to that
I could write a book here. My favorite Mopar. '68 Road runner. What a beautiful automobile with the perfect engine. Wow. Just wow. Thank you for sharing this as I wipe away the drool. Thank you.
Probably the hottest street car I had a chance to feature. One clean and mean HEMI Bird
Awesome. When too much power is not enough! Very impressive.
OOOOOHHHHH THAT SOUND! I had a 68 Dodge Dart GTS with a 440 that had 2" fender well headers and a nasty solid cam that sounded very similar at idle. but it didn't make nearly as much power. It sure had a thumpy idle though! You have a beautiful car, looks and sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I remember My cousins boss had a 4spd hemi road runner the same time my brother had a 440 6 pak auto Challenger racing around Peoria summer of 71. Best memories ever. Neck and neck zero to 130 and back again, God i miss that.
Bad ass road runner man love it
One hell of a bird 💪 thanks for checking it out
Dream car 68 thru 70 lord ,Jesus, I have been a good boy my whole life just so I could be blessed with just such a car AMEN
I hope you'll get a chance to own one like it Mike. Just don't give up on your dreams!
$2,600 in 1992 was a steal. A buddy paid $10,000 for a beat 68 Z28 in 78, after paying $2,700 for a new one 10 years before. "Should have kept it,." He got peanuts for it on a dog of a 69 Corvette.
I don’t know who sold it to him that cheap.. here those cars are never let go that low.
Man, that is a beauty, love the stance.
That sound never gets old !
Beautiful car,one of my favorite Mopars.
So nice to see someone put the peddle to the metal
One of my top fav cars 68 runner 65 gto!!
thank you for making this awesome video of my roadrunner
I’m glad you enjoyed it George. Definitely one of the best Mopars we have featured
@@HotAmericanCars COOL
I see so many cars with LS swaps and I’m so sick of it. This is a breath of fresh air, I love MOPAR. That Hemi is perfect.
LS engines are a good combination of reliability and affordability that’s why so many builders use these 😎 but there is nothing more exciting than old school big block
Right. And they’re great engines, don’t get me wrong. But Hemis warm the heart! Haha
Totally Awesome 🔥
Beautiful
Them was two hauling ass Mopars!
It's a thing of wonder beauty.
And a beast 💪
I just love your car thanks for a wonderful video. I have a 1966 barracuda formula s it's stock easy four speed 8 3/4 rear. I won't peel out and it because I don't want nothing to go wrong my brother's laugh at me so it was friends. I said I don't care I baby my cards even if they're fast or whatever I just baby them now I'm 62 I even baby it even more. 😂😂😂😂😂 Your car sounds beautiful who needs a radio and have a car that sounds like yours beautiful drag race nice. I know I talk a lot but here's a quick story you know how I was really good friends with I'm sure you know him Bill Maverick golden Little Red wagon I used to pull that little red wagon to the start line Maple Grove and I squirt that stuff I don't know what it's called I forgot either or whatever it was and that squirting a thing here I don't know I don't remember but it was me we used to go to lunch all the time. He would come into Pennsylvania and go to tamaqua at my other buddies house and keep it the Little Red wagon there and stuff because he was going to englishtown over the weekend race it was cool he was a good guy.
Thank you for the nice feedback. It’s not my car, I just did the video story, but I’m glad it brought good memories
That mullet mobile needs the rear end jacked up higher. And I'm a Mopar guy in case you wondered.
What a Beautiful 😍 68 ROADRUNNER 🤩😍😛
Like the Gentleman Said❓🕴️🤔 MOPAR💙 OR NO CAR 🎉 😊 I COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH THAT PROFOUND STATEMENT 😊
$2,500 in 1992 is an exceptionally low price. That's about a mid/late 1980s price, what you would pay for an original Hemi car with some rust in the rockers and rear quarters. It's definitely possible, just pointing the crazy cars I've seen bought and sold as a kid.
It was a 383 car, and very abused when George bought it. You can read the full story on our website if you're interested. Link is in the video description.
Niiice, dude your car is KILLER...
I miss my 1956 354
What a sweet car. No regrets here.
Sweet Savage
I'm 68 and have seen quite a few RR's but not one quite like this! THIS IS SUPER BAD ASS AND THE BEST ONE I HAVE SEEN TO DATE!!!!!❤. The first one lived across the street from me and my love grew from there, I have now broken up with all others and this one is my new girlfriend...572 will you marry me? DANG!
I’m in love, I miss my 69 road runner black with tan interior gosh I miss that car appreciate you sharing, I did just subscribe I’ll be following for more rock on muscle car
Thank you sir. There will be more old school muscle coming. We have couple of cool Mopars coming up next.
Sounds perty
What's not to like about this Mopar?
Set's to high in the back end
@@leroywilson4970 I hear you, not everyone is into the 70’s look
What's not to like? It's not mine! Lols, my first street car was a 68 383 4 speed Roadrunner, sure miss it.
@@robbycates1377 Yep, that’s the only thing I hate about this car too 😜
@@leroywilson4970I love that about it though
SUPER SWEET RIDE 😎
Oh yeah!
I raced a roadrunner with a big hemi in my tempest 427 Chevy put an end to his progression
Had a 69 roadrunner front end
First thing I noticed also man!
Challenge: Find one red-blooded American who doesn't get excited watching this video. What a system Keith put together here 😎
This red blooded Canadian’s mind is blown too my friend from the south. 👌🇨🇦🇺🇸
@@lemmykilmister185 😎😎😎
Oh how I love classic period correct 60's-70's muscle cars. No big wheels, no resto mods factory style suspension....Im a Ford guy but this applies to dodge, chevy, olds, plymouth, buick, mercury ect. Nice looking and sounding road runner indeed👍👍
So badass
As George Thorogood would say, "Bad to the Bone."
Race car keith black famous for racing hemis❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wicked !
Nice very Nice's .....
wow , damn
I had a 68 GTX 440 4speed.. but it was a beater of a car.. but I did have it up to 160 one time..
Definitely a car that would be very expensive today, even if not in top shape. But who knew 🤷♂️
Damn
I wanna ride 😁
😎
Stand up $TR8!.LOVE U!. BEEP BEEP!.
Well, it ain't a Yugo. So I guess he'll just have to suffer. 😂
Rock Solid lifter's
Interesting, 68 with a 69 grill.
What head lamp bulbs does it use?
I saw it go.
Suh-weeeeeeeet!!
Wow, what a great car. It is very obvious that it is a 68 but it is also very obvious it’s got a 69 grill in it. Come on man find a 68 grill they even came in satellites and belvedere’s.
I was going to make that comment about the 69 grill but lo and behold, you beat me to it!
Back in the 70’s a buddy had a 69 Hemi Super Bee with a 68 front clip on it.
I think they both were wrecked and they were fixed with what parts were available.
69 front grille ?
I think so, perhaps George will confirm
Ok
May I have this car please?
I’ll put your name on the list right after mine 😜
And you selling this road runner
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍
Was that Lebanon Valley?
That’s correct
@@HotAmericanCars Pretty cool. I raced my 69 GS in the F.A.S.T. class back in 2010 thru 2012 there. Not nearly as fast as your car although as you may know some of those guys got into the 9's on stock bias ply red lines. Lol. Pretty sick. I'm 12's that's enough fun for me I can't afford to go that much faster. ;)
@@buixrule Not my car brother. I am just doing the stories for owners with photos, videos and info they provide. As for the F.A.S.T. and Pure Stock Drags, I love watching these races, and there are still guys running single digit 1/4 mile.
Flash Black.
Car has a 1969 front grill
Yes, that's right. Many 68 owners do that

That's George's car
Why the 69 grill? Nice car non the less!!!
Many people do it, I guess they like it better
I bought a 69 road runner from a high school it was there project drag car .had it almost built and some dick head stole it right out of my front yard . Well at least the school had money for a new project.i hear it was a 68
it's got a 69 grill on it
Looks like a 69 grille?
Great now put a V8 HEMI 632 in it
This engine is not big and powerful enough for your taste?
@@HotAmericanCars ofcorse not the bigger the better
@@meatballs9127 Do you really think one needs a 632 cubes for the street?
