Chemical Dipping a Rare 1969-1/2 Plymouth Roadrunner A12
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 гру 2023
- Today I am chemically removing all the paint and rust off this Rare classic 1969-1/2 Plymouth Roadrunner A12 prior to its complete restoration. I’m going to take you through the process we use to completely chemically strip cars down to bare metal. This is a more thorough alternative to sand/media blasting with no chances of metal warping on thin panels. This process shows you exactly what you are working with and gives you a blank canvis to work with!
It is a 3 step process
Step 1) alkaline degreaser and paint remover
Step 2) Food grade Rust removing acid
Step 3) Water based rust inhibitor
The total process takes around 6 weeks because we use environmentally safe chemicals.
Company name: 3s chemicals llc

Happy New year everyone!
Happy new year!
Happy New Year!
Assalomu alaykum
Happy New Year!
How do you keep it from rusting after you get it to bare metal
This is mental therapy for car guys. Thanks bud
Trunk and floor pans.... barely touched! Intact and super solid! Amazing.
This car has to be one of the cleanest, rust wise, that I've seen you do. Car is in amazing shape for it's age! Travis, hope you, your family and friends have a super awesome 2024! Thank you so much for putting out such great vids!
You got that right. A Chrysler/Plymouth car with little or no rust? A freaking miracle. I had a 1969 Satellite wagon. My first car. After three years in the upper midwest, it started to disintegrate out from under me. I would LOVE to find one this clean.
My jaw dropped when he sprayed off the rockers, as a resident of the Great lakes area, this must be Voodoo.
No rusty ring around the wheel wells either. Still got the lace windshield frame though.
@@sommebuddy Adirondacks here, land of salt n snow... totally get it!
Who ever found this car and bought it got a real gem. The only rust is around the rear window frame. In the car restoration world this is a major benefit. I would love to see this car restored and your dipping process is a great first step. Well done all around.
And what makes it even more rare is there’s hardly any rust in the usual areas like the floors and trunk floor. Definitely a sweet car.
Pressure washing my fence was so satisfying, making the totally dirty new again. This is next level satisfying!
When I was 16, I bought a 5 year old 1969 383 Road Runner near Chicago for $750. Mine had way more rust damage than yours, even being only a 5 year old car. It was rust rotted through both rear quarters, not unusual for a ‘70’s Midwest based car driven in salt. Your car is looking way better already. Amazing really.
My uncle painted cars in the 70s, I remember what seemed to take weeks sanding and filling 1 fender one summer. Could not wait for school to start again!!!!
You can't appreciate this video unless you have spent hours working on bodies cleaning up rust and smoothing out panels hoping it will be the last time you see rust. This was incredible to watch.
Lies. I can appreciate all sorts of things without being involved
I appreciate it.
I was thinking the same, there’s No substitute for experience! 👍
Thanks buddy! I appreciate that
@@minute_of_danglehow many times do you dip the body, obviously not everything comes off the first time?
Does the chemicals eat through the rope?
I love these videos. So relaxing watching history come back to life.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy them!
Agree that having a follow up with a body shop taking the body right thru to fully restored shape should be awesome. I enjoy watching your videos
The guy doing this car is local to me. He posted some stuff on his personal Facebook but I don’t think he has any other social media. I’ll have to check further.
I’m glad you enjoy them! Thank you! I’ll keep them coming for you!
Самый грамотный подход по подготовке к восстановлению авто, молодцы парни вы красавчики.
That is so satisfying to watch.
1969 Roadrunner ...... My favorite dream car and Favorite Year car...... 69 was the best year in vehicles for sure
Super Cool Job !!! Metal Cars are way more stronger than the plastic junk they make today.
This thing is mint compared to most Mopars, especially here in Ga. A legit A12 car to boot! Fantastic!
That thing is so clean and straight if AMD were still needing cars to reproduce panels from, this would be a prime candidate. Utterly amazing
It's one of the coolest transformations you can have done with your car to make it look perfect.. IMO. 😎
This has got to be cleanest Chysler Corp car I've ever seen... Just fantastic... Someone should be very happy... great job
Same! Thank you! I appreciate that
Probably one of the cleanest I’ve seen for a Chrysler product
My grandpa just gave me his 1969 plymouth fury 3 im so excited to get it back on the road!!!!
That is one sweet A-12! Those floorboards look like they just left the factory. Considering that the 60s and 70s were not Detroit’s finest hours for metal quality, this one is a unicorn. Someone is going to build a best-in-show winner with this body. Good luck. 🤠👍✅❗️
Watching you do the acid dip reminded me of the old pro stock teams that would acid dip their cars to knock off weight back in the early 70’s Anything to save weight and get an advantage on the competition. Sox and Martin, Motown Missile, Dandy Dick Landy,
Butch Leal’s Rod Shop Dodge….All the big name teams…Billy the Kid, Billy Bagshaw’s Red Light Bandit….notice where I’m going?
All these teams were the Mopar Bad Boys….Seeing this Road Runner get dipped brings back treasured memories of those bygone days. Thank You for the post and making me reminisce…. 👍🏻🍻💙😎
I try to find everything not up to par as I watch, so I absolutely enjoy your final walk around. Thank you and Happy New Year!
That is a super clean Mopar...not an easy thing to find and this one cleaned up great. It being an A12 car makes it that much better as it appears there will be very little metal replacement.
Happy New Year to everybody!
Cleanest mopar I think I’ve ever had in the shop! Thank you! Happy new year!
There's nothing better than a bare metal fresh start.
Keep saving those beautiful Roadrunners.
This was one of my favorite cars as a kid. My neighbor had one brand new with a 440 4 speed. It sounded so good when he would run through the gears after burning out at the stoplight by my parents house. Sadly he totalled it after losing control and crashing into a block wall broadside at high speed.
Nightmares from "Who framed Roger rabbit" intensifies (dip scene).
Damn, this is really one of the best methods how to remove anything except metal!
thanks Travis, again a great video, so satisfying to watch old cars brought back to bare metal, and rust removal ready for complete restoration...it would be great if you could do at least one brief follow up video of the final restoration, that would also be great to see.
I'm sure the hard work wasn't therapeutic but watching this was.
Never seen an original B body with so little rust, gonna be a cool restoration.
Its like that rug cleaning channel but for cars. I love it :)
Very satisfying 👍
I have never wanted to do a job in my life so bad, until i met the pressure washer man, that looks like so much fun!
New high quality steel to replace the pitting spots and voilá a new car is born !
.
👍 Greetz from 🇳🇱
I wanna be the pressure washing guy. Looks so fun and satisfying.
That car was clean even before it was taken apart!
This is a lot like watching the rug cleaning guys. It's hard to turn it off before you see the end product.
UA-cam Gold.
Most gratifying video I've ever watched that procedure must be quite expensive. Sure! Enjoy watching your hard work. Looks awesome!
Thank you! I appreciate that! It’s not as bad as people think 3️⃣1️⃣00 for the whole process
@@minute_of_dangle is that bare frame or thats stripped down to the frame and put back?
So satisfying to watch this process!
A friend of mine had his A12 Super Bee stolen back in 1970. Both of us have hunted for it, both online and at numerous car shows. It was a hardtop, hemi orange, black interior, bench seat, auto on the column, no vinyl top.
This is such an amazing process, unlike sandblasting you don't have to deal with warped or ruined panels. Watching these videos never gets old.
Это заблуждение, кислота делает не меньше раковин на поверхности
I’m pretty sure that’s not a normal pressure washer and also sounds like a “turbo” tip. Most definitely will damage panels if not done properly, dudes technique was spot on.
But yes in the right hands, way more gentle and clean.✌️
This is extremely satisfying to watch!
I recon that car has been restored in the recent past that is why it is so clean plus that colour looks like candy apple green👍👍
yep, that green was not offered new.
Absolutely awesome to watch. Beautiful metal.
What a Survivor...That looks amazing...!!!
Вот это реставрация , молодец👍👍👍
Wow, this was amazing to watch. Just a super job.
That was very cool watching the process! Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching
Haven't seen that color green in years, and come to think about it, haven't seen a Roadrunner in years, nice job, I hope it looks brand new when completed. Thanks,
I'm pleased with your shows
WOW! Beautiful condition super clean. Congrads on a great job too!
Other thst one panel with the dent removal holes, that's a great body. The inter floors look new! Wow a 6 week process. You know you have the barest metal for restoration.❤🤘
Unbelievable good shape. Wow!!
That is dam satisfying!!
This was so satisfying to watch. You guys have an amazing job!! Looks lile a lot of fun and satisfaction and not too overly complicated!!
Wow! That shell is in great shape. Most definitely something to work with. Great vid!*****
Beautiful work well done.
Thank you!
that was awesome!!
Incredible work. Even though I don't have any experience in the field, it's relaxing to see the transformative process.
For some reason this is a very satisfying video.
Love watching people who are really into doing their work to perfection. The end result of preparing this project for restoration was really impressive. Their customer had to be thrilled.
All I knew of before this day was the tale of an old school “primed down”,… little did I know of the epic poem that is a classic “dipped and stripped”! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🫡
So satisfying to watch!
Glad you think so! Thanks!
This is the nicest classic car ive seen the body is rust free.
Wow thats one incredible clean body. Just wow!
I love the blank canvas concept, it's a great idea if you are doing a full rebuild with customization.
Thank You for sharing this… given your press for time. 😌
Satisfying work !
Cool. Thank you for sharing.
This is what I call a satisfying video!
I’m glad you like it! Thank you!
The ultimate Roadrunner. Looks like it lived life in the Arizona desert.
Surprisingly rust free for a 60s motor, I’ve seen much worse rust damage on vehicles just 15 years old, a very compelling watch seeing all the paint come off, makes a restoration so much easier as you can see exactly what you have
Hah. I live in the midwest and the rear wheel wells on my wifes 2011 Excape with 80k miles on it are rusting through. A car this old, this clean, seems like sorcery to me!
Thank you for sharing this and some lucky person will have a very nice roadrunner when it’s done.😎
This vehicle is in the best condition I think you could wish for
Looks very satisfying
Just even watching this is hyper therapeutic 😁👍
Wow fantastic car , fantastic video . Was great to have a longer video. Thank you and Happy New Year !!! Meep Meep !!!!
This has to be one of the coolest jobs on earth.
Thank you for not adding any bs background music :)
Happy New Year. My respect to the guy who is already working. Another spectacular work.
Happy new year! Thank you!
Cool 😎 thanks for sharing
Very satisfying to watch
Can't wait to see it when it's done!
Thanks. Great looking car.
Thanks for putting the 🐝🐝🐝 back in. LOL!
100% rust free now. On to the mint-level resto!
That car is really in great shape! The only real corrosion I saw was in the channels for the front and rear windshields. The old collision damage isn't that bad. A good metal worker could work that crease out and weld the old slide hammer holes shut. It's either that or section it.
I'm curious as to what people do abut riveting the VIN tags back on. GM and Ford body tags you can get the correct rivets for, but the VIN tag???
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! In all of the ones I have seen... with a very few exceptions. Have been absolutely rotted out from underneath. Gives me hope, that when it's time to do my Bird, it may actually fit in the tanks without much headache. Thank you for anotjer awesome video. Happy New Year to you and your family.🙏💜
Thank you for watching! Happy new year!
That is a car in seriously sexy shape! Someone has a very nice ride.
Not sure how i got here, but I'm glad. I've never seen this process before 🤓👍
That was in excellent shape from the beginning. Hope to see the full bid.
What a platform to start with!
Another great video 🎉
That paint didn't stand a chance and the chemical de-rust dip was amazing seeing the finished product.
My absolute favorite car. 69/70 either one. I will never get see one in my lifetime. :-)
Amazing! Thank you for sharing this informative video in chemical dipping of rare classic car. Greetings from Madang, Papua New Guinea!
Great job 😊
Love it😊
That is one sweet ride
