BravoCon week is a perfect time to catch up on the Housewives cases. First, Shannon Beador has been charged for her hit-and-run DUI in Orange County after colliding with a house while alleged to be driving with a BAC more than three times the legal limit. Next, the Tom Girardi competency proceedings shed some light on his mental state and whether the criminal prosecutions will proceed. Finally, the scandal earrings aren't done yet. The appeal has been remanded to the Bankruptcy court for a final decision, and we learn some shocking new details about the Girardi Keese firm from the forensic accountant.

Emily, can you please look into the the 4 law students killed this past week on PCH in Malibu ? A drunk driver was driving so fast he hit parked cars and that’s what killed these 4 seniors.
Last I heard he pleaded not guilty? So I assume this will turn into a case ? This is so heartbreaking 4 young law students with their entire lives ahead of them, all over due to a drunk driver.
Can you please cover the trial of the woman that killed the cyclist out of jealousy and fled to Costa Rica?
Emily, would you consider covering the Buffy Saint-Marie story? She reminds me of Amber Heard, who became the official spokesperson for the DV community. Buffy pretended to be native (for over 60 years!) and became the spokesperson for the North American native community. Many are calling for her rewards to be retracted (she even got the "order of Canada'! Our highest). The Fifth Estate exposed her on October 27th in "Investigating Buffy Sainte-Marie’s claims to Indigenous ancestry". It aligns with what you cover in terms of pop culture....... but I don't know (yet) how any of it applies to the law. How can she be held accountable legally? Thank you!

i find it abhorrent that companies are treated better than individual humans. Lenders took the risk to loan, why do the clients have to pay for that? they took the risk of losing, and they didnt lose, they were scammed. why are our american laws written to protect entities more than individual human beings? makes our american justice system more gross then it already is

From IL: this situation was a huge scandal that came out with the Mike Madigan corruption (he was house speaker for decades and his daughter was attorney general) they let him get away with his crimes for decades…

I think we need to change the bankruptcy rules so that people with pending lawsuits get paid before creditors. Too many people (liking at you, Alex Jones) use bankruptcy to hide from their bad acts.
Stopped watching Bravo long ago. I understand they were all looking for storylines & what started out as "tipsy friend spats" escalated into "alcoholic rage & hate fights". It is really strange how so many of their lives/families/marriages/friendships are destroyed. The "personality" titles have created swollen toxic egos. Who didn't know long ago Shannon was likely an alcoholic? To be fair, these are grown women who had a life before (none of which seemed very tragic), known what they are signing up for, opt to jump on-board & fight to stay there, push aside all personal limits & dignity instead of just walking away. I would never trade my family & friends for a toxic show!
Girardi is the most interesting story imo. I too could be rich if I just stole the money and bribed all the judges I guess
For the last few years I’ve been shocked at how much alcohol these people can consume & some peoples obvious interaction with meds. Also the harsh arguing is uncomfortable. The anger is too much so I can’t watch some of them cause of this. It’s beyond me why some especially women, mothers Ect would want to act like this on tv to be famous. No thanks not my cup of tea.
I had to go through a neuro-psych exam after memory loss due to birth trauma and Eclampsia. I didn't remember much about my life. The evaluating doctor doesn't treat. My cognitive decline was significant, as were personality changes.
I wasn't allowed to go anywhere on my own because I'd get lost. I wasn't allowed to drive. I wasn't allowed to operate anything, including cooking appliances, on my own...
Even if there's a theory about potential cognitive decline, it usually comes with restrictions until full evaluation. That whole treatment and evaluation process they used isn't convincing.

Who ever believed that Tom was incompetent to stand trial, when he was competent enough to devise this whole incompetence scheme? I will die believing that he did all of this to protect Erika, and to protect the hidden money, that she's had access to this whole time. He loves her, and I believe to my soul, that she loves him, because it was visibly emotionally taxing on her, to speak badly of him two seasons ago.
I have a big problem with finding reality TV too repetitive and never liked it because it's so obvious most people are treated inhumanely. Watching Rosanna Pansino talking about her experience on Scream Queens and growing up with ANTM drama I feel like women especially were specifically trivialized and caricatured in an irredeemable way. It just makes me sad. Granted most of the visual media I consume is UA-cam things and cartoons so really I'm not sure how relatable that is. I read a lot and play video games a lot as my at home entertainment. If I am watching something on TV and no one is talking to me I tend to just fall asleep on the couch so . . . I'm not sure if I'm the target audience anyways.

I never really know how to feel about the drinking angle of this Bravo thing, simply because, watching women of a certain age get super drunk, and argue, isn't really that entertaining. I don't understand why production would encourage someone in 2023 to drink, when they've been told that someone is living sober. Part of it seems like a cop out, because there are several housewives who don't think at all, or they only have a couple of glasses of wine, or champagne, and are always composed.

Garcelle’s son was not only harassed on social media, but the start of it was Erika telling him to get the fu.k outta here, when he was merely collecting flowers off of a table for his mother at her birthday party. This abuse was later applauded by Mauricio who said it was wonderful. That she deserved to let loose. Kyle, and PK also concurred.
This would never have been tolerated by Bravo and the public if it were a drunken Garcelle cussing out one of the young teen children of her white cast mates. She’d have been out the door before the season wrapped.

Hey Emily! I loooove your show! Been a fan for a few years. I’m kind of curious if they got the information about Tom G. Previous care facility through the kiosk charting or by speaking with the staff. As someone who worked on a memory care unit as well as the assisted care unit. There was so much that would be not accurately charted because PSS’ or CNA’s didn’t want to spend time charting cause they already had so much to do. So a lot of times residents were over looked when they needed such a greater level of care cause people were too lazy to chat accurately. I wasn’t someone who charted in the kiosks cause I was a Med tech. So when I wrote in their charts, I was always very thorough cause I felt like alot of residents were over looked. I even tried to speak the my coworkers but many of them were just there for a check so they just were there to do what they needed and no more. Didn’t care to get to know the residents. But I was always fascinated with them and learning about their lives previous to us. They were history, so I loved to get to know them. But ya I was just curious how they got the information from the living assistant facility. 🤷🏼♀️
Not charting can lead to massive lawsuits. We had a saying, “if it’s not written down, it didn’t happen.” This could lead to a law suit for lack of care/negligence.
This is even more serious for nurses/doctors as all medications etc have to be written on the chart or a patients family could sue for gross negligence if after having administered drugs, the time and dose given isn’t registered.

I used to run a small hotel that catered to celebrities appearing on a local tv station. Trust me when I say that more than a few of them wet the bed.
They often got so hammered on free booze that the concierge had to help them out of a taxi and into their rooms.
Ive even known a few of them who pee’d in a closet or the bathroom sink.

As far as drinking and driving , We just had a horrible accident with 4 law students from Pepperdine , a drunk driver killed all 4 seniors on PCH. He hit parked cars so hard that those cars hit the 4 senior law students. Drunk driving is the most selfish thing a person can do. I’ve seen way too much working in my profession.
Ps, I was asked to be on the real housewives show back in 2012 -2013 . I live in Malibu .They were attempting to start one there. I refused , and many people who were asked refused so I don’t think they got very far. I wonder if people know these shows are mostly scripted.0

I had to stop watching Real Housewives, et. al - the drinking was out of control. I'm a recovering Alcoholic - 23 yrs sober, but could be easily triggered, watching the plots and the drinking surrounding them. After 23 years! I've thought about all of the shows: how the wives appear to "have it all", thus creating a completely unreal lifestyle. We all know that. It comes as absolutely no surprise when a housewife implodes. All you have to see is one or two wives falling apart to know that escapism cannot be experienced. What a shame. It used to be fun to watch - then things got stupidly dramatic. The $$ - it was never there for over 3/4 of these wives, I presume. Can you believe the amount of debt?
