Tom Girardi and his Law Firm Girardi Keese were sued 11 times in 2020 in Los Angles alone. That isn’t counting the Divorce filed by his wife Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Erika Jayne, or the federal case involving the Lion Air disaster. The wave of cases in December 2020 pushed creditors to file an involuntary chapter 7 bankruptcy petition, which was later granted. The Bankruptcy court now has the Sisyphean task of unraveling the accounting and lawsuits as well as the ongoing client matters that Girardi Keese was handling. While all of that was happening Tom Girardi’s brother sought an appointment as a Guardian Ad Lietim in the Bankruptcy Court and sought a conservatorship in the LA Superior Court. On Monday 2-1-21 the conservatorship was granted on a temporary basis.

I think the thing i appreciate the most about this is the fact that you continually think back and relate this back to the clients that are caught in the middle of this and show such sympathy, empathy, and compassion for these clients that have suffered so much and are being treated more like collateral than what they are, which is people that are going through these insane struggles. Thank you for that.
Kayla Rose you are so welcome... This case can easily just be 'tea'. But there are literally thousands of people stuck in the middle while already dealing with trauma and it breaks my heart for them.
I can’t imagine how this didn’t get blown wide open as soon as she started the show. Can you imagine being a victim and watching her flaunt around being idk what’s the word “herself” yikes. I feel so much for them. Tom & Erica are just vile people, I hope the victims get the justice they are deserving of.
This is my favorite thing about her as well. Even if the chat has a little "socially acceptable" snark, Emily always brings it back to a grounded level to remind us all that these are real people with real feelings. It's a great dynamic I enjoy watching.
This is a television mini-series worthy situation. The amount of human collateral damage is overwhelming. My heart goes out to every person who has been/is being damaged due to this man's insatiable greed. This is simply unbelievable!
I feel terrible for all the ppl. How is it that an attorney banks billions for his part in previous lawsuits and ends up in bankruptcy court? The accountants will reveal all.

Personally Im interested in the Kelly Clarkson case. She’s accusing her husband of stealing millions from her. She got full physical custody because of a breach of trust!

@Ezralenne They are not sharing physical custody. He wanted split time with the kids and the judge said no due to a “breach of trust.” Plus he moved to another state so that was going to be tough.

We really need a change in our laws so that the victims families get the money first, and the the creditors and lawyers. And lawyers wonder why they have such a stellar reputation. Present lawyer excepted of course.
I think the lawyers should get paid before the creditors! Creditors are insured...the Illinois lawyers (especially) deserve their coins ! 🤞🏽

Would definitely appreciate a deep dive into the Porter Ranch Lawsuits. I lived in Southern California at the time and remember what those folks had to go through. To have this happen as they are finally getting some closure is unthinkable.

I bet every lawyer, or almost every lawyer, in LA Knew what Tom Gerardi was doing for so many years, why nobody came forward to turn in him?
I think a lot of it has to do with how powerful and well connected he was. I don't know what the plaintiffs bar knew in all of this but I am very very curious.

I really wanna believe EJ didn’t know about financial ties and issues with her husband; HOWEVER, those messages she shared between her husband and that judge were old as hell and made the situation suspicious af. Idk. She couldn’t have been in the dark THAT much. She must have had SOME idea of financial difficulties with her husband

The accounting aspect of this is blowing my mind. Are law firms ‘certified’ or ‘approved’ by any governing financial body? Like, is it just the Wild West out there? I work in the nonprofit field, but we get independently audited yearly, published for the board and general public. Revenue streams are separated, basic rules of accounting. Is there no oversight for private law firms? So crazy to me! I would love to dig through their books, can’t believe they were record keeping on pen and paper🤣
This reminded me of a TikTok I saw today wherein the person noticed that Kim & Kanye’s separation / divorce came just in time before Kanye and his company is being sued for a lot of money. So that would be interesting to look into 😊

I really liked Erika in her first seasons of RHOBH. She has inspired me and has been a living testimony that a fantasy life in overwhelming wealth is possible, even when you come from next to nothing. She has also inspired me with how beautifully she aged and how well groomed and kept she was - only to hear that this supposed fantasy is *a LIE, a SCAM, built on misery, built on other people’s worst misfortune and most tragic moments in life*. It’s honestly too much for me to fully comprehend.
Hey Miss Roma. I completely feel this. I also was really drawn to EJ living her best life in her 40's, being fab and fearless....which makes all of this heartbreaking. It's hard to know at this point what she knew....but I hope that we will see that at some point.
She’s admitted herself on several interviews on YT she’s had cosmetic surgery( her nose) and does botox, she’s gorgeous at her age but it’s not her natural face.
@@Candyprincess971 I know that love. I meant her whole beauty regiment, including surgery. Everything turned out perfectly and has been maintained beautifully. She still stands out by far in my opinion if you compare her to other housewives with the same beauty budget who also had surgery, botox and fillers, for example Camille Grammer, Adrienne Maloof, Kyle Richards or Lisa Vanderpump when they were her age 💖

Yeesh this is a genuinely sad case. My heart goes out to all those people hurt through no fault of their own, given false hope and then have it turned against them so someone can line their pockets. My only hope is that they can get their settlements to recover
That "time barred" is a load of bollocks... There should be no time limit on Lawyers not doing the right thing.. 🤬 A crime is a crime..

I second (third?) This! The fact that there's literally a lawsuit over who gets to work on a law suit is both deeply interesting and baffling to me. It's like a Russian nesting doll of lawsuits in here and I think I'm not alone in wanting a more detailed explanation of this.

Yeah cause they were strung along like its still coming. LIED TO. DEFRAUDED. Omg this case makes me physcially ill. Even if they claw back that 20 million Erica is in possession of, that will be like a drop in the bucket. I heard Tom is not even kicked out of the house yet. My God they should both be wearing sack cloth in a tent. I have no empathy or sympathy.
Struggles to zip up wet suit, afix oxygen tank and wiggles feet into fins in preparation for the anticipated deep dive! So here for it, I even dressed appropriately for the occasion!
Mmm... Very interesting. 33:30 I have heard of statue of limitations, but not the term time-barred. I would be interested in knowing more about the time-barred issue. Because that is something each of us might face, and - while it would depend on specific circumstances - it would be interesting to hear about a case that most-likely would have been awarded, and was not due to it being time-barred.
Question: What is the difference between statue of limitation and time-barred? Is there a difference?

When I listen/watch you break things down, I retain it. I have no clue how you accomplish this. Your delivery/breakdown of information makes me want to learn & that makes me happy. During the entire time of my schooling kindergarten through college I've had three or four teachers that made learning exciting. I am so grateful I found at the very least one more person that makes me excited & determine to learn again.
I thought bankruptcy was quite cut and dry. I am realizing that bankruptcy is a whole lot more complicated then I ever imagined. I have way too many questions.
I picture you at some very prestigious law school teaching a class. Maybe you name it " how to get away with murder 101" and then you and your law nerds/ go kick some as$ and win all these victims their money back . I know I know, the money is all gone , but we can dream!

As someone who knows about luxury goods, I have added up some of their items and it is well over 15 million. Five special edition Birkin’s can reach 1 million, her diamonds are another million, the Lamborghini is half of a million!! Her clothing could easily reach another million. Now between HIS cars and watches we are at another 2 million. Get the rest of what isn’t under a Lien the house and two Private Jets and it would pay EVERY creditor!! *It is inexcusable to claim there is no money for the victims*

This case is such a mess, it is unbelievable. If Tom Girardi has been reckless about settlement accounting for years, how can he all of the sudden claim that he is incapacitated. As a clinical social worker, I have worked with clients who have dementia. Most deny that they are impaired. However, he had partners in his firm. If they noticed that there were changes in his behavior or Girardi's CPA noticed there were aggregious errors in the way of accounting for collateral debts, than someone had the duty to inform the court. Not only to lawyers have licenses, but so do CPA's. This just reeks of corruption.

It seems crazy to me that the time bar is only a year for these kinds of malpractice suits. I feel like that kind of thing should be timeless.
If you commit malpractice you should be held accountable regardless of when it happened and when it was discovered.

At the time that I posted this I didn’t know this video had previous been seen by anyone. I thought it was just a premier and no one had seen it. While engagement is important I was also thinking about the implication that 3 dislikes meant people could also be already trying to shut down the premier because she’d already been attack on other platforms over talking about the Tati Defamation case. I just didn’t say that because I didn’t want to give ideas.
Emily is really good at keeping things civil and so is her mod team. That’s important when you talk about cases especially anything high profile.

Please do a deep dive into the Porter Ranch stuff. I know up until about a year ago they were still trying to get people to join that lawsuit because I lived in the area next to Porter Ranch and they were trying to recruit us to join. Have you ever seen any other attorney fall so far from grace by doing something like Girardi has been doing for all these years and getting away with? I just wonder if there are others out there like him? Will more like him be exposed in the future?

39 million dollars worth of loans to cover contingencies? I thought the Girardi law firm was big, high-profile with lots of successful wins. Didn't they have any money in the bank? Especially if the money they won wasn't reaching their clients. Weird!
