    Still loving mine...doing daily commute to work on it currently, hit a secret trail or two on the way home. Love it. The tablet on full brightness still sucks in bright sun. It really is a gimmick to make it feel like a Rally bike. It does come with DMD2 though and I've not had any issues with it getting me where I want to go. The bike is such a change from all my other big ADV bikes.

    The PR7 really is a peach. And it‘s fully DIY serviceable. Sadly the dealer-network isn‘t everywhere well established, sure, it‘s an exotic bike, but Husky tech knowledge is available at many places and it‘s easy anyway. The portuguese at AJP do this business since the mid 80s, a niche manufacturer with focus and proudness on quality offering of an alternative to the mainstream bikes.

    Really appreciate your insight. I looked hard at the AJP a few years ago, but the bike seemed to have some electrical issues (cold starts being a particular problem as I remember). I think they figured out most of those items. I bought a Kove instead and now I'm working on an after market seat. Agree that the AJP seat is excellent and I think its a prettier bike than either the 690 or the Kove.

      I tried to open my thoughts in the video description (it's a long but at the very bottom 😅). I tried to think about the nyances on these bikes. They are very different and it all depends on the buyer as per usual 😄
      If someone is more used to Tenere they might feel more at home with the AJP. It's definitely a fun bike but it's not as agile as the Kove in technical riding and in general the AJP feels more sluggish due to the bigger displacement on the engine and probably the Kove carries it's weight a bit lower on the frame.
      Check the description too there might be some points there I forget now. One annoyance on the Kove is definitely checking the oil levels.. it has no sight glass or even an oil stick 😅

    That tablet appears to suffer from the same issue all tablets have... unreadable in direct sunlight regardless of brightness (I've watched a bunch of reviews and they all look the same, black in direct sun). The vibration comment was surprising since the dual balancer 701 I have (2020) has very little vibration (no hand numbness even during 16 hour days during touring)... but it clearly indicates the PR7 has great vibration control (at which point it doesn't matter which is less)

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  2 місяці тому

      Not sure why but the PR7 didn't feel annoyingly viby even though the engine is older type. Maybe they did something with damping some of it from the handlebar.. Not sure.
      The tablet was set to low brightness on the video so I can't say much about that. DMD has some more pricy options with >1000 nits which are definitely better.

      Quick Ride series is not supposed to be a full review. Its a very limited time I get access to these bikes so I dont have the time or place to fully test the bike.
      The concept is to tell my audience everything I immediately notice with a short test ride. Also point in these is not to list all the specs that every other reviewer does.
      Simply there are a 1000 reviews out there. I’m providig the honest initial feedback I get from the bike with a short ride. What immediately stands out good or bad.

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  5 місяців тому +1

      Quote from the series description:
      🏍️ What is the Quick Ride series meant to be?
      Quick Ride collection is not meant to be this rigid "review" style video that most youtubers are making. There is definitely a place for actual reviews but as I don't have access like that to these bikes I thought I would do things a bit differently than just list you a bunch of specs and hilights of these machines.
      I make these videos just to bring you along on a test ride of these bikes. Some episodes might be longer if I get access to a bike for more time but mostly these are short test ride style videos where I try to tell you the audience everything I'm feeling from the bike at that moment and maybe do a closing thought at the end if needed.
      Welcome aboard!

    So piggy backing on a previous question on your CFMOTO 450 MT video. For doing the TET would you choose the AJP, the KOVE, or the CFMOTO? Thanks for the video!

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  5 місяців тому +5

      I'm conna pick a wild duo. MT450 and Kove 450. That would be a nice duo on anybodys garage.
      AJP on the other hand doesn't really go well with either. Like if you buy the AJP there is no real need to own either of the others as it's pretty nicely in the middle and also the most powerful out of the 3.
      If I would be going on TET norway I would pick the CFMoto or AJP any day of the week. Roads are so easy and comfort is the key there.
      But TET albania I would pick the Kove every day of the week 😁
      So very hard question. All 3 are very good in what they do but also very different.
      Offroadability best to worst:
      1. Kove
      2. AJP
      3. CFMoto
      On road:
      1. CFMoto
      2. AJP
      3. Kove
      If I could only own one. I would take AJP or Kove personally. But that would be a very difficult pick between those two. CFMoto is not a bad bike but nowadays I prefer a more offroad cabable bike and I'm willing to lose some on road comfort for that.

    • @porkshank13
      @porkshank13 5 місяців тому

      @@PatchedBandit Thank you! That is a really helpful answer. The other factor for me would probably be the cost of the AJP versus the other two, but I was interested in the answer when not considering that variable. One more question (for now 😉). For on road is it the power and wind protection as to why you would choose the AJP over the lesser vibrations of the KOVE?

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  5 місяців тому +4

      Yeah wind protection is better on the AJP and it pulls harder on those highway speeds so it feels more comfortable doing it. Vibrations are worse but all other aspects are better on higher speeds on the AJP.
      Kove is not terrible by any means but in this trio I would put the AJP as the better bike for "on road" use. Oh yeah and also the seat is far better on the AJP. Might even be the best seat out of all 3.

      I have the AJP so I am biased, but I have also testrode the 690/701. AJP has a bigger tank, rally tower, more comfortable seat. Also suspension travel is larger on the AJP (300/2820 vs 240?) Offroad I rarely want more power, more torque maybe :) And I have the standard version.

  • @bonzaralph
    @bonzaralph 2 місяці тому

    The engines are as different as chalk and cheese. 690 engine revs out like a two stroke but struggles to “lug” itself at the low end whereas SWM/Husky 630 motor can tractor with also very good mid and while it will rev out quite nicely it is nothing like the 690 up top. The key thing here is the 690 is hampered by having very narrow spread of gears whereas the 600 swm motor has a wide set ratios which work well to put power down and can actually cruise comfortably in 6th. No such luck with the 690 where it is buzzing ridiculously at cruising speed. The characters of these two bikes are very, very different.

    • @PatchedBandit

      Longer ride back to back would definitely point out some key differences but with a quick ride they feel very similar.

      @ very true. In my mind I am trying to imagine how the PR7 feels and where it sits relative to the old TE630 and the 690R both of which I owned. Ts funny because people say the 690R is like a giant dirt bike but as a novice I struggled with it off road . I then went over to lighter bikes like the 200 and 300 two stroke and then came to the TE630 and found it very user friendly compared to my memory of the 690R. I think the 690 suffers from using the same platform as the super moto version, ie lack of a wide ratio gearbox and just that super agressive high revving motor. Anyway it’s really good to see your review it is much appreciated. I am pretty sold on the concept of the PR7.
