George Motz, the Burger Scholar on the Burger Show said that there's two things that make a take away meal - Nostalgia and Consistency. Goudens for us holds loads of nostalgia and is always consistent so it makes it the best bunny chow place in Durban! What's yours?
Thank you so much for the comment Patsy! And we really do treasure her! I think one of the biggest drivers for making the channel and doing the videos was me realizing that I could have done videos with my dad as well but just never got around to doing it. So this channel is our own record as well.
@@GaithreeDeviLuckan Thank you for sharing about Goundens..I live in Durban and for the last 15yrs had lived in Amanzitoti but never eaten there before, it's recently we had moved to the upper highway area and going to Umbilo is much nearer for me now, so will sure to look out for GOUNDENS! Thanks for the amazing recipes shared and creating good content..you all are so authentic..keep going!👏👏

I haven’t had a bunny chow since I lived in Durban in the early 90s. The place that used to have the queue down the road was Patels, which made vegetarian bunny’s in West Str. if I remember right. They were delicious & cheap, about R2 or R3 😁. I could so eat that right now. The bread isn’t the same in U.K.
My husband used to take us to Patels in Durban quite often! Lovely vegetarian foods and their Sev and nuts with Boondhi was excellent as well! I think they were in Kismet Arcade.
I lived in Durban many years ago. I now live in USA 🇺🇸. Sad to hear about your mugging Do enjoy the bunny chow with Mom It’s great feeling just to be with Mom 🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸
i used to think that another place that i wnt mention used to make the best bunny, one day i was so hungry and i was close by Goundens my word the first bite i was blown away instantly.😅
Every year we go to visit South Africa and we make a trip to Durban, where I introduced my husband to bunny chows. In fact I introduced him to South African food and bunny chow is his favourite. This is a man who has never even tried curries. When I said I will make him fish curry he said what’s wrong with you South Africans? If you have the time and inclination, you’ll even curry the toilet paper 🤣

It's so easy to make a bunny at home - it would have saved the poor son all the expense and trouble of travelling to Durban, booking expensive accommodation Umhlanga, and then having to go to all the bother of making a video -all that bother for one meal😞😞😞
