What goes first Floors or Cabinets?

Floors can be installed first, just make sure they are covered when the other trades come in. Kitchen Cabinets can go first as long as you bump them up equal to the floor. This makes sure you get the true height of the cabinet as desired. The chicken or egg, you will get different answers, either way just do it right and it won't matter.

Thanks for the tip and makes perfect sense to me . . no flooring seems like a common theme mostly in older homes but strangely saw it in new reno homes too. :(

Yes, that's one way of doing it if the cabinets are going in before the floors. However, there is nothing wrong with installing the floors first, and then setting the cabinets on top of the floors, as long as you don't screw the cabinets into the subfloor, and leave an expansion gap between the floor and the walls.

New flooring, meaning a renovation project? The house has settled - iv seen floors slope over 1/2 an inch out of level from the wall to the front of the cabinet!

Thanks for the video. When my handyman removed my dishwasher, the vinyl did catch & tear a bit so very real problem. If there's a pipe leak and there's flooring underneath such as vinyl plank click type, will that cause a problem with possible mold etc. Would it be better to create a more open base? Similar to slats or a picture frame type base so there's air flow should a leak occur.

Airflow is always best. However, with the click vinyl you should be ok.

Do you need to put any blocking in the dish washer space, or leave empty and slide washer on subfloor, and raise the legs to the correct height?

A good floor guy should run the flooring into that space so it will make the dishwasher go in and out easily.
