  • The Suzuki GSX-R1000 is a fantastic motorcycle one of only two litre sports bikes designed with road users in mind. Greg bought one earlier this year and in this video we discuss why it was a better purchase for him than a super naked.

I’ve had two gixxers, including the latest R, I’ve also had the S1000RR M Sport. Both amazing bikes but I can genuinely say the gixxer put more of a smile on my face. It does everything brilliantly, bags of character, and on the road is as fast as anything else. Enjoy it Greg, looks and sounds great

Also had 2020 gsxr 1000 lost it getting rear-ended at a stop light, and now have 22 S1000rr, honestly, it's not worth the price difference, and the riding position is almost identical. Yes BMW has more engine better brakes and better electronics but it's only 10% better for 33% higher cost. Also the GSXR with full tank was 1lb lighter than my bmw with full tank same supporting modes like full SS exhausts. It's true underrated machine and doesn't do well at track shoot outs because they always run the R over the base model and the r suspension is good for a 160lb rider max with soft springs where the base will hold up a 260lb person before maxing out the spring weight.

Still rocking my K5 Gixxa thou. Had it for 17 years and she is a beautiful bike. Goes like the clappers and surprisingly comfortable on long rides. I used to change bikes around every three years, but this gixxa just became a keeper as I never found anything I liked better - even the modern ones. Still do track days on it, but find myself getting a bit conservative now... Even the ride day officials say to take it easy as it is now a rare piece of machinery

GSXR is still a superb machine, reliable and reasonably comfortable considering the performance on tap. It’s a relative bargain when you consider the prices of a V4s/rr. I’m seriously considering getting a used k7/8 as a summer machine after your purchase. Suzuki really know how to make a beautiful engine and gearbox! Big shame that the ZX10R falls on its face racing typically. Not sure why, rode one we have at work and it's "pretty good". The GSXR still had more to offer down low power wise, with a telepathic chassis, but the ZX10R looks damn good in its KRT livery. Comfort isn't as good either but it's a great bike. At the end of the day the GSXR kind of fills in the 1 bike for all tasks (aside from offroading). Sad to see them stall production, for now.

Actually, the GSX-R is my favourite super bike, including the DUCATIS! Exhaust aside, I think it looks the best. With its MotoGP style livery and beautiful metallic blue. BMWs are a bit boring, the new Ducati isn’t as beautiful as the previous. I love Triumphs but their colour schemes are too conservative. GSX-R all the way you beauty

Gixxers just do it all. If you've had one you know.
The nice thing about owning a gixxer is you just get to enjoy them. You don't feel bad about not washing it every time you ride it.
It works on the road, it works on the track, it feels great everywhere & they are cheap as chips. And you can't call them slow - most people are lying to themselves if they reckon they are quicker on something twice the price.

Really annoying that Suzuki pulled the GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000 from the UK and yet still make them, rode the GSX-R750 for a month straight everyday many years ago as a courtesy bike as well as factory demo rides on the Suzuki event days with the GSX-R1000 (starts trying to pull your arms off if you want it to), also echo the no niggles, just good bikes.

I still prefer the GSXR 750 for everything from a daily rider/commuter. Raised bars and slightly dropped pegs along with a pipe and freed up air box. With these mods and a set of saddlebags the 750 is super as an all around Bike with a super smooth engine, the legendary butter smooth gearbox and top speed capability’s of almost 180mph. Light, smooth, fast, nimble. What more does one need?

I'm of the opinion a big twin/v4 is slightly better around town than the inline 4. I do love all 3 engine designs but around town, surely the twin/v4 and even triple have been more easily manipulated around town!

@@TrulyUniqueOne Nah! the Gen1 ZX10r's are great bikes, one of the best of the 10r's, definitely solid well built bikes.
I have got a video of me riding one of my mates '05 10r's, and the ZX9r is an awesome very underrated bike, was 20 years ago and still is, but just as quick and even quicker than some newer more powerful machines.
      I do like the Suzuki's though, I was considering a K2 or K3 750.
Check this comment I recently got on my ZX9r review video though, I hear this kind of thing a lot :-
"Iv'e had all manner of sports bikes including four new GSXR's , ZX6's and dozens of others. Bought my first ZX9 C2 model about four years ago after selling my FZ8 and just fell in love with it, fantastic bike , wish I had bought them when they were new instead of others. Last august I bought a 5,600 mile F2P in standard mint condition and have to say it is THE best bike I have ever owned, even better than my 2011 GSXR 750 which I bought new and I really liked that."
      F2P is a 2003 ZX9r, last one before the Gen1 ZX10r in '04, my ZX9r is a Y2k E1, beautiful beast of a machine.
