As a Vegetarian, I was once at a Japanese restaurant after a Judo Clinic and there was almost nothing on the menu for me. I ordered, Tofu and Rice. The Tofu arrived on ice and it was not appealing all! A fellow who had been in Japan told me to mix the soy sauce and Ginger together and dip the Tofu in it. It was amazingly delicious!

When I lived in Nakatsugawa for 5 years, I had a Japanese "grandmother" who showed me how to cook many dishes, I cook these now for my family in Scotland. So great to see your recipes, practice my Japanese and feel like I am back in a cosy Japanese home again. いいな❤ ありがとう
Tofu is cheap and so yummy when seasoned well! I love using extra firm tofu or even firm and a tip to make it even better is freeze tofu then defrost in fridge and squeeze all the water out, becomes a meaty texture! I love making Japanese vegan katsu curry with it!

Hi Miwa-san…I love tofu so much and my top favourite has always been agedashi tofu. I love it very simply without sauce….although I love sauce too. I will usually have it with grated daikon, green onions, some shoyu and a bowl of gohan. Very simple but very satisfying. Kio tsukete 😎☀️🇨🇦
I think the miso curry would also be a good onigiri filling. We love a tofu steak recipe that has a bit of a yakiniku sauce. And my daughter loves a torori tofu soup (like the one they have at ootoya). My favourite is the tomato shira ae.
