Your game pass argument is pretty flawed. Activision has an annual profit of over 6 billion dollars on its own. So even without any other factors, buying Activision has a payback time of a little over 10 years. But then on top of that, you get game pass, the hardware sales, etc. The Activision buyout wasn't something they did to make short term profit. It's a play to remain relevant in the console market, which is dominated by Sony. And with all the scandals at Activision and Blizzard, MS picked them up at a discount. This is a strategic move that will play out over the next 10 years. With both Bethesda, Activision and Blizzard they have some extremely strong IP and experienced development teams. If they don't F it up, they should be able to crank out some great exclusives and give Sony a run for their money. You may think that the subscription is a discount for people that use it, but that's ignoring microtransactions and other DLC. Your argument is similar to claiming a free to play game can never make money. Only in this case, the game isn't free to play, but is locked behind a subscription. Getting more people into more games by lowering the barrier of entry may end up causing people to actually spend more money, since there are more opportunities to upsell them. As flawed as Microsoft is, they aren't stupid. You can accuse them of many things, but not knowing how to make money isn't one of them.
That all hinges on whether or not activision can remain profitable. Xbox doesn't have a good track record of managing thier purchases well. If buying a company that's profitable now and waiting 10 years for 1 dollar of profit was sustainable then everyone would do it.
@@BoleDaPole Obviously. Buying any company and having it lose money is a bad investment. Clearly they have calculated that Activision (and Blizzard and King) will remain profitable, otherwise they never would've bought it. And honestly, that seems a very reasonable assumption. Blizzard targets the PC market, Activision focuses on console, King on mobile. Whatever part of the industry grows, they're ready to take advantage of that. Buying smaller profitable companies to make profit over time is exactly what everyone is doing. It's called market consolidation and it's something that's been happening since forever. How do you think EA got so large? Where did all those Sony exclusive studios come from? Why do you think it's called "Activision Blizzard King" in the first place? Everyone tries to do it, but you need enough cash to actually make the purchase first. Few companies can drop 69 billion dollars at once. 10 years is on the longer end for the payoff for an investment, but for Microsoft this is a strategic investment. Without this investment, they risk becoming irrelevant in the console space. It's not just the profit they can make from Activision over the next 10 years, but it's also the profit they make from Xbox hardware sales, commission on games, Game Pass, etc. All of that is at stake, and has to be taken into account. Same thing with Playstation
@@giothestupidass4136 with PlayStation you have options: you can buy The Last Of Us again every year!
@@giothestupidass4136not at all, i got game pass on pc, on ps5 i got spiderman, gow, Uncharted, the last of us, ratchet and clank, bloodborne, ff7 rebirth, ff16, demon souls remake, Marvels Wolverine…i also can play the same games xbox cool boys play like 2k and madden. Why would i buy an xbox?😂😂😂
He so right I’m one of them guys on Xbox 2k24 but since they Service been trashed on Xbox I’m going to get a PS five and I feel like I’m getting sick and tired of playing those games yearly were PS five I could get exclusive games like Spider-Man like days gone zombie game that I like playing I get games 2K and when I get tired of 2K go play other games, Xbox doesn’t have a lot of Riley of games in the library. That looks interesting to me.
One of the features we used on xbox one was xbox fitness 😂😅 with connect my wife and I had fun doing zumba and other exercises like Yo30 and tai chi 😊😊
MS does't create games? based on your argument I could say that Sony didn't either. It's not Sony CEO, Mr. Kenichiro Yoshida that made God of War, it's Sony Santa Monica, it's not Sony that made Spiderman 2, it's Insomniac. What's the difference whether the programmer who coded the game sat in the same building as the parent company? Ultimately a dev team is paid money to make a game. Is it the semantics of it?
Outside of Insomniac, Sony actually created their studios from the ground up.
Microsoft just bought existing studios
And someone created those studios from the ground up that MS now owns. What's the difference who actually did it for the regular consumer?@@dodgykebaab
@@dodgykebaab very true
Xbox is fake they're not genuine
@@Malikor your comment is the second one I've come across that supports the others' point of view. Embarrassment 😂
Doesn't make any sense
hell no!! xbox is the best it has Microsoft Bing!!! in it it match my computer i have compure to nintendo and sony!
You must be joking 😂
Sure they're the best for one small reason
😂😂😂😂
Microsoft Bing?? Really?? That’s your best argument for why Xbox is the best? You’re pathetic.
First of all, Microsoft Bing is a search engine, not a console. Second, just because it matches your computer doesn’t mean anything. And third, comparing Xbox to Nintendo and Sony is like comparing a turd to a masterpiece. Nintendo and Sony are leagues ahead of Xbox.
So come at me again when you have a real argument instead of bringing up a search engine as your only reasoning. Loser.
you just mad because microsoft owns blizzard. playstation can have ascension wow we dont need it
Blizzard is just a name now. All the people that actually made the good games like Jeff kaplin have long since left the company
@@dodgykebaab this lol.
@dodgykebaab I know they going ruined cod next people thinking they going get every aaa games every month I can sell you a flying car 😊
Yeah. Wow. I mean I gave up on it ten years ago. Hit 1 button you can beat the game.
Somebody is mad MS built/co developed franchises bigger than anything Sega or Sony has ever created and Gamepass is profitable as acquisitions are an asset and not a number that is payed back.
😂 delusional
I've been with xb for 8 years. Sure that's true buddy
Lmao Xbox still competing with sega and they haven’t release anything since 2001 Sony mops the floor with Microsoft when it comes to consoles
Yeah....This hot take is trash...Just like PlayStation.
Playstation is also GARBAGE. The only console worth owning is the Switch.
cry !sony fanboys
Cry microsoft fayboys Sony's generally better because there's Japanese Not s***** new Mexican. Halo has been a f****** trash nowadays. Only the three sixty was the only good console xbox
@@unk_ghostI know people like him is ruined they own brand Xbox is going be third-party company soon
@@christopherduren9368 yeah they're so delusional and immature. Ridiculous! Can't wait for Xbox to leave for once and for all.
@laurenedney7 I know they so dumb just support them by buying games ask for better quality games but no that why they going third-party
As a PC outsider looking in, Playstation seems extremely iffy... Especially because their "games" are basically interactive cutscenes.
What does that have to do with poor Microsoft Management? The subject of this video?
