Hi! I am in the process of doing your online course, it is really helpful. Thank you for the great content :) I have one question, I understand you work with beet flow but as I am based in Thailand it gets crazy expensive with the shipping and tax from the US , are there any other products (from iherb for example) that would work as well? Thank you so much 🙏
Apple cider vinegar is interesting because as it passes into the stomach and goes past that LES, it can trigger the valve to close since it's acidic, but that will only bring temporary relief and it only works for some people. Also, if a person is right on the fence and they only need a little bit of help, the ACV may be enough to help acidify the stomach enough to stop the reflux. The problem is, vinegar can also be very pro-anabolic so if a person is already leaning too anabolic, it can make some issues worse for them. You can learn how to figure out if you're leaning too anabolic in free digestion course here: kickitnaturally.com/course So, it seems to be slightly helpful for some people, but most folks need to take more aggressive steps to properly acidify the stomach so the valve can be triggered to close correctly. We teach how to do that in the free course as well.

I've been enjoying your videos, thanks for the helpful information. Could you by any chance point me towards any studies that show that low levels of acid in the stomach results in a relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter? I'm having trouble finding some online. Same with low stomach acid levels leading to susceptibility of H. Pylori colonization? Curious to hear how you know this, as I currently have H Pylori and an Ulcer, and am looking to treat it.
Thanks. this video was made before I started adding references in the description. Here is a paper that talks about this: my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/23392-hypochlorhydria and you can search for papers and studies on hypochlorhydria and h. pylori and you will find lots. @KickItNaturally hi thanks for those links, I'll check out your course as well. I was able to find studies on low stomach acid creates susceptibility to h plyori colonization, but still I couldn't find anything in that link about the mechanism of hypochlorhydria causing the sphincters to relax. I've only found studies saying transient relaxations of the lower esophageal sphincter likely due to gastric distention causes GERD.
@@KickItNaturally Just an update, I've only been able to find this paper saying that Gastrin, rather than HCL, triggers the closure of the LES. Interesting stuff aligning with your video as I assume hypochlorhydria would also be associated with low levels of Gastrin. Cheers! www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC291941/
Hi, is it ok to drink coffee, if you have low stomach acid? I feel like it makes my acidity worse but for some reason apple cider vinegar is good. Coffee is also acidic, so it should not cause these issue, right?

Okay, so, I have this issue where I sometimes get acid reflux, but it doesn't feel acidic until it reaches my tonsils, but it happens less often now. Also, most of the time I cough (the deep kind like when you choke), it causes a lot of pain in the chest area that I suspect is the esophagus (I just tested it recently with a light cough and it has this sharp pain on the right of the esophagus and makes my throat, and, for some reason, the region near my tonsils feel mildly tight but it may just be the post nasal drip). It also sometimes happens when I drink fluids but it's relatively rare. I also deal with a lot of post nasal drip to the point where I sometime worry my throat will get infected or something like that but it may just be allergies but it doesn't feel like how my allergies usually are (it may just be the mild version of the allergies but it, like I stated earlier, comes with a feeling of mild tightness. it may just be congestion). I apologize for the bad grammar and the long comment but I kind of don't want to live with the sore and stabbing pain. Also, sorry for constantly commenting this comment, but I kind of am too scared to go to the doctor and you are the only one I could find that I trust that isn't a doctor.

I found you about two months ago. You’ve taught me way more than any gastroenterologist ever has about how my digestive system works. (I have celiac disease and now have EPI 😢) I’m looking through your videos trying to find where you mentioned that HCL without pepsin should be used. Did I make that up? I’ve tried using the HCL and Pepsin that I have and it seems to make my stomach raw.
So glad you're learning. I talk about this in chapter 3 of my book and you can download that for free here: kickitnaturally.com/free It's not that pepsin is bad, it's just that most people need to work up to a higher dose of HCL and that much pepsin can create discomfort.
