I don't care what anyone thinks about anything I do. But once in a while I get genuine approval from my kid and it's the highlight of my year. Your daughter's approval of the switch looks just like that. I bet that made your day.
Ha, this is awesome. I just got the idea to do push button on my YJ (current key is a screwdriver) and then I stumbled onto this mod. Thank you for documenting how you did it! Only issue I have is that dead panel you used is populated on mine (rear wiper controls for the hard top).
great video dale, excuse me, what did you do with the two twin black and white wires? Should I connect those to ground after removing the ignition switch?
I recently did something similar much easier to where you turn the key to allow power to run to my push start button to start the engine and to turn off just simply turn the key to the off position…. I left The key as a security feature lol
What's better about push button start vs turning a key to start it? When I bought my YJ the previous owner had done a push button start, I undid it and went back to having a key instead...I just liked it that way better I suppose.
I was having issues with my ignition. First the key cylinder then the switch. Had done a few repairs on them but kept having issues. So I decided to replace the whole system. I’m super happy with it. Works great and adds a nice touch
Don't have a key for my 89 yj and the switch is destroyed anyway, So it's going to be a Push start ignition installed on it... I'm going to see your first part video about it.....
@@JeepSolid I installed one many years ago on my 94 geo Tracker when I lost the key, I liked it... I bought my 89 yj like this, wires are everywhere but in those years there's not a ton of these....
Start her out by helping with a few small projects. Make them fun. Don’t be in a hurry and include her on it. She’ll love the time and learning about vehicles.
This sounds like fuel pump check valve failure. Need to check fuel pressure when you turn it off. Should not drop. If it does fp check valve, fp regulator, and make sure an injector is not stuck open
Very cool and i like it a lot. If you used flux, i hope you cleaned all the solder joints with alcohol afterwards. Flux is great but its very corrosive if left on. The aviation electrian in me is cringing that you did it all the with the hot wires. That toggle switch might burn out.(like how the positive wire sparkes when you connect it when the negative is already attached. Thats happening in the switch every time you flip it)
@@masonpayne9983 As I recall mine may have been a bit different. Purple was for Accessory, Orange was to the heater, the Yellow and the Green were to the starter and fuel pump. I don’t remember 100% which one tho. I confirmed everything with a jumper then labeled the wires.
I am thinking the push start does not improve security, if they eliminate the key wiring then the use of a key is eliminated, they can start the jeep with the switch and button.

Yes. I loved her reaction. It was genuine 😊
This is fantastic! I have dreamed about doing this to my 95, but I didn't think it was possible. Another project added to my list!!! GREAT JOB!!
Thank you. I love Sasha’s genuine reaction at the end of the video. She thought it was super cool as well 👍
Ok, this is the coolest thing ever, I think you need to make a whole kit for this and just sell it!
Good idea. Thank you!
I’ll buy one kit.
I would 100% buy one as well
@@JeepSolid I'd prob buy that kit

Great video! Did you have to rewire the ground some how (from the ignition switch) for everything to work right

Do you have a link to the switches you got and some sort of diagram if possible?
Great job Dale . I think Sasha will want you to do that to Sully Ha Ha . Keep up the great work my friend and catch you on your next video.
Thank you!

Did you use your hot wire from the ignition switch to power ur switch?
Would you mind including a parts link?

I love the addition!

you forgot the circuit diagram and acc wiring.
My daughter is 12 now I hope I can get her this into jeeps

Nice upgrade!
Thank you!
So did this improve your slow start with the switch for the fuel pump. just wondering. I tend to wait on the gas to get to the engine before it starts

Great video man. I’m looking at doing that on my 95. I saw your Oregon license plate. Where about are ya from in OR. I’m up in Salem.
Hey! Thanks. I’m in southern Oregon. Medford area

Thanks for the info. Good things to consider
That is an amazing setup. If you would sell kits like this I would definitely buy it for my YJ. Also, love the videos you make.
Thank you! I appreciate it
Is this for sale?
Wow man you are the man! Are you related to the project farm guy?
Haha! Thanks. It turned out pretty cool 😎
Doing the same thing with my ‘92…I’ve got pre-installed theft deterrent, a manual transmission!
I've got a 92 I'm working on right now as well! Is the wiring colors the same for the 92 as he's showing in this video? Do you know?

Definitely doesn’t improve security, that’s why I recommend adding some other security features like I have.
You just take out the key Cylinder to put
The key
The switch
The push button
😂😂😂😂😂.
My opinion that was a totally waste of money & time.
I already replaced the key cylinder then started having issues with switch. This fixed both, but thanks
