32yrs later, and I still think this is the best music video ever made. Her eyes show the emotion, and pain of heartbreak.
There is no doubt in my mind that Sinead didn't find the song, the song found her. There is no one who can perform this song better. No one.
The song, the melody, her stunning voice, her pained face, all imparted grief, a desperate longoing, emptiness. It was astonishing that you smiled throughout.
This video is so simple yet so powerful. It’s literally just her face. But her face is so expressive, and her eyes feel like they look right into your soul. She does such an amazing job conveying the emotion. Prince wrote the song but Sinead will forever own it.
