We lost a great soul today.
Tormented as she was she handed out gifts with all her heart.
Rest in peace, Sinead.
Blasting her all arvo 💫
What a beautiful comment , & Oh so true ❤, She hada heart of Pure gold & despite all she went through she was so giving of herself . Rip Sinéad ..
Rest in perfect peace Sinead. 🕊
RIP, such a great voice
What I love about Sinead, and what she demonstrates so perfectly here, is how she dedicates her whole being to the song. Not just her voice, but her hands, her eyes, the curl of her lips, her whole body is a medium for emotion, not just her vocal cords.
Prince may not have realized it when he wrote this song but he wrote it for her. No other rendition ever has come close to the emotion she pours into this song. I'm a 56 year old tough guy and I have never not once listened to her version without at least one tear coming to my eye.
Agree 💯 This song has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it (I was 3), and has always held a special place in my heart.
Beth, the best singers are the ones who have the ability to make you feel what they feel. Sinead is clearly one of those.
Sinead's voice demands you to feel. One of the greatest of all time.
@@KlooKloo, Also, her raw emotion.
She was asked in an interview a few years ago if she still liked performing this song, and what does she think while singing it to summon emotion. She said she never gets tired of it. And it reminds her of her mom who died tragically in a car accident when Sinead was only 18. Amazing. If one watches her expression when she sings the line "all those flowers you planted in the backyard, momma; All died when you went away...." I think you can see a flood of emotion inside her as she pictures her mom.
Sinead O'Connor's performance of this song is one of those moments as a vocal coach where you just have to cease even judging. Just sit back, relax, and appreciate the experience of how powerful the human voice can be when it's a million miles deep into the emotion of something.
Sinead is the epitome of just pure emotion and beauty. I have not come across another artist that does it like her. Nothing compares to Sinead 💚🍀🍀🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
She was epic, going to miss having her in this world.
Love Sinead she didn't sell her soul to Hollywood and she has suffered in her personal life but wow what a fighter she is. Have great respect for her and her amazing talent
Not any more 😢
I was fortunate to see her live at the Lilith fair. She stole the show. Her voice was absolutely breath taking.
Such a fantastic singer and person. One of those rare singers that truly just feels the music and releases it. She will be so very missed.
It’s natural..nothing trained. It can’t be analyzed..it’s just raw and beautiful
she didnt need training. so sick of these coaches.
Everything can be analysed.
Except that there was a ton that was trained and researched to be able to emote in such a powerful way. She has discussed her work with vocal coaches and the style of putting emotion into your songs.
@@psadougshe literally had two lifelong coaches 😂
She is amazing... One of the best voices ever. I hope she has found peace, She is of another world.
If you have not heard it, or seen it, do yourself a favor friend and search for her "This is a rebel song" performed at Nobel peace prize. Absolutely amazing song that uses the marriage f an Irish woman and an Englishman as an allegory for the relationship between UK and Ireland.
I hope we all find peace, but yes especially her. she has earned it.
She can cry, scream, whisper, whine, all at basically the same time! Pure expression. One of the greatest singers of all time. Up there with Janis…
An amazing talent and human being. May she rest in peace.
Holy crap does this song hit me hard.. every time.
RIP Sinead. One of the most passionate people in my lifetime.
I can't believe she's gone. Destined to go down as one of the most beautiful, haunting voices in musical history. Rest in peace darling- you will never be forgotten. Beth- you are incredibly blessed to have spoken to her!
Sinead O’Connor, one of the most underrated singer of all time, why? Just because she said the truth in the wrong time, really sad
That is the lamest and most overused description on UA-cam. She is not underated, she is held with the highest regard, even from people who no nothing about what technically makes her an outstanding singer...
Your right! Thx!
@@dennis8309 i dont think he necessarily means shes underrated, more how her career was derailed and affected after she spoke out about the horrific child abuse carried out by the catholic church.
nobody ever underrated Sinead as a singer. but her career did suffer and she might have accomplished so much more if she did not have all those other problems - which I don't wanna go into here. but her voice is a living proof that God exists
i think she has a self destructive streak. she wants to be famous but yet doesnt
I saw her live in a small venue when she was unknown. Her voice was magical. She was gorgeous.
She was truly beautiful
@@lauralucier6270 her eyes were bewitching, absolutely stunning
RIP sinead. Another angel in the sky
Sinead feels the lyrics, truly feels them and that is the difference to so many other singers. She also moves the way the music takes her not caring for choreography, it just takes her where she feels and its so right for her. I love the keen in her voice.
This song and THE WAY SHE SINGS IT (it was Prince's song originally) could be considered one of the most iconic songs of the 20th century.
What an amazing singer, no one sings that song like her!
The raw beauty of Sinead is amazing !!
its that little magic in every awesome singer
Sineads Irish accent has Everything to do with her distinctive "cries"& "voice-breaks".
I love Sinead, her voice is one in a billion, I remember her from the 80's so vividly, time flies by too fast!
She has such an amazing voice!
Thanks for reacting to Sinead O'Conner.
So true! There are a few songs that I feel only Irish can sing because of that. Irish hauntingly beautiful sorrowful lilt.
She’s the first voice that ever just made me go through a range of emotion and the hair stand up on my neck. It killed me the shit she got over ripping up the picture of the pope. Even when they knew about the abuse she received and her true statement. Now she’s gone and people never heard her struggle and statement. Now they use words like legend and talk about how she stood up for women’s rights. The same people that dropped her from her label and booed her off stage love her now. She was always a beautiful soul and voice and she don’t want tears from hypocrites. She was too strong to “let the bastards get her down” and don’t want their sympathy now. I was a life long fan and listened to what she said and the reasons behind the bold statements she made. She was a warrior fighting against abuse. As she sang to a crowd of boos.
“Untill the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all
Without regard to race
Then we say "war" !She didn’t shy away. She doubled down and yes she is a legend.
very well said….
Sinead was a true artist in the essence of the word ... Brava, la belle Sinead !
She was a powerhouse. So much vibrancy and beauty mixed with tension and sadness.
You remember crying to this song when you were younger......I’m in my late ‘60s and I still tear up...thanks Beth.....rawr.....
I first heard Sinead's singing in a record store in Germany in January 1988. Bought Lion and the Cobra that day and have been a fan ever since.
Me too. Record store in Stockholm in February 1988. At that time you had to ask the person in the shop if they please could play this or that record. If the music wasnt on the top lists it was some work to find out what you liked. But somehow I found The Lion and The Cobra and was complete hooked. Sinead was the same age as me. It must be a very special talent to create something like that at the age of 21. Rip Sinead beautiful soul ❤
I’ve watched thousands of reaction videos and this particular video is one of the best. The way Sinead connects to the song you connect to her and understand and get her. You also said some very beautiful and profound things. Love this!
Best vocalist of all time.
Period.
No one can sing with the emotion as Sinead 1:58 does. Just love her voice. She is a beautiful woman
Wow, I was there that night man!!!! She was fantastic!!! Everybody were singing along... I was 17 or 18, she is an amazing interpreter, this song makes me cry every time I hear it. Thanks for this memories!! viva Chile!!!!
So sad to hear of her passing. She spoke truth to power.
I saw her live, but sadly she didn't sing any of her older songs. She was still incredible even though the material she was singing wasn't as iconic. One thing you notice here is how she uses her whole body to sing, like jumping forces air through her voice in a unique way. She moves her head away from the mic deliberately to drop suddenly. It's intentionally broken and sloppy. You are so right that she is fully in control every second.
R.I.P Angel such an amazing voice…😭😭💔🙏🏾
Sinead gives the depths of her soul when she sings. I think of Janis Joplin. Both of them focused their deepest feelings through their voice, and use their entire bodies to deliver! Raw, true, brilliant!
Yes, except that Sinead's voice was extremely beautiful
If a lump in the throat was a sound, it would be Sinead's voice. RIP.
Best comment of 2023. You nailed it.
I was expecting this moment a long time ago. Here is the most unique singer . She is so ethereal, so strong and yet so delicate. Her voice is sublime, powerful such as her message. This woman deserves all ... Strong independent artist. Please, please Beth, can u do TROY...please
I am blown away by this singer. The greatest way to put your feelings into a song. A Grammy Winner. In the song and in her personal beliefs.
The Wolf Is Getting Married is a great track by her
The song was on the radio when I, the first time heartbreak had and even today I come to tears at the song!
Love, love Sinead. Her Faith and Courage album is my favourite.
Showing support for Sinead O'Connor ❤ She puts so much emotions to her performance.
I'm looking forward to watch your interview, Beth 👼
What. A. Performance.
So emotional, almost too emotional for its own good, but so damn magnetizing.
I was in that concert i was 10, i don't remember much, she blessed us with her presence, what an honor, so glad to had her here and seen her live, even when i don´t remember much, R.I.P.
Beautiful understanding of the visceral voice of Sinead in this amazing song/poem. This isn't a performance, just as a lark singing isn't a performance. Thank you, Beth.
PLEASE do more Sinead!!!! She has such an incredible voice. Troy, Black Boys on Mopeds, Fire on Babylon... the list goes on and on. ❤️
Amazing talent and human, sadly, nobody believed her when she said there were priests abusing kids, and media destroyed her career for telling the truth.
3:45 the flag from Chile, my country haha
Amazing vid as usual Beth!!
Y en el escenario dice Chile...Un abrazo a la distancia
este concierto fue en Chile
@@pCadavez 😂😂😂
Jajajaj yo sabía que me iba a encontrar un comentario chileno ❤ aguante!!!
Well infact we did all believe her, as it was common knowledge anyway. It was only the mainstream media that demonised her for talking about it, just as they do nowadays with various other things.
She's had such a damn rough life...very sad. Glad to see she's still standing though, and looking forward to her interview.
Sinead O’Connor is still up to now one of my favorites singers! Nice reaction vid!
I've always said that her singing in this song (either live or studio) is the best interpretation and expression of a song, ever. It gives you chills. So much that the video of the song is just her face, it's fascinating.
I think I watch this video once a month, when I need to feel. Literally. 1 other video only somehow brings me to the same level of music-video emotional feel: Joe Cocker - with a little help from my friends at Woodstock (ua-cam.com/video/tfLyK2DVVUU/v-deo.html) Here ! Saved you the trip ! :-) . Different genre of course, but it just makes the same vibration into my soul. Joe's shout at 5'59 resonates the same in me as Sinead's here at 4'09 and 4'38. Don't get me wrong, I love another 100+ music videos ( LP - one more light / Eagles - Lying eyes / Ben Harper - The drugs don't work...) but these 2 are just so special to me and can never get old. Seen all of the aforementioned artists live, aside from Sinead:-(
Warrior saint magic magic artist.. She was pure brilliance. May she rest in peace with her mother and son. She said she always thought of her mother who had already passed away when she sang that song..
All her songs are great, but I think this one really shows off her voice, and passion the best.
This song may have been written, and eventually even performed by Prince, but there is no doubt this is HER song. No one can ever do it better.
Still pulls a tear from my eyes
Her version of “She Moved Through the Fair” is something special.
She was pure and raw talent, unnaturally gifted and exceptional.
Her voice is beautiful 😩
The words embody heartbreak, her voice in this song IS heartbreak. Absolutely. Every second you've been through heartbreak, it's all there. If you ever forget the raw pain, listen to this and it all comes back clear as if it was happening to you right now.
loved the reaction, tnx. she is so strong yet so vulnerable at the same time...
Wow. Every time I hear this, I am brought to tears by her emotion. She wears her heart on her sleeve and expresses the anguish to a degree that most of us would never do. We then naturally feel an overwhelming amount of compassion for her in that moment. I just want to hug her, grab her hands, and tell her she's going to be okay and her feelings are justified.
When this song came out - what a wonderful, beautiful, amazing risk to take with that film clip - to lock off a face and just let the humanity of it ... The face, the voice - create the wonder , the emotion, the pain. If you can't feel it when you see that film clip, then you're not alive. In an era where the fast-cut film clip was coming into vogue, as Beth says here, Sinead was fearless.
That's art - not just throwing in a profanity for shock effect. Being truly risky and different. That's artistry.
there's a story behind her shaved head, it's very interesting ;)
Sinead's ability to convey all of the emotions to us is absolutely epic, Bless her heart. She is my Dream Date!
My favourite tracks from Sinead are Troy, especially the live version, so raw in emotion and Damn Your Eyes. Just stunning. Sadly, never got to see her live. A talent gone too soon.
You are a brilliant vocal coach and amazing at explaining technique in common terminology for the average viewer.
Of all the reaction channels I've been watching regarding this artist and specific live performance, you have explained Sinead O'Connor's singing rituals best.
Thank you.
You have made the most sense.
Immediately fell in love with Sinead again as I did hearing NCTU as a young man.So touching and beautiful! And it brings back so many memories of these days. For example sitting in a car as well in company of two friends. 3 young guys in metal clothes with long hair and that brutal deathmetal patches on our vests trying desperately to hide the tears in our eyes while listening and swearing to each other what happened in the car will stay in that car...now it's time to come out with the dirty truth: All three were crying like little girls deeply touched by that angelous voice! 😂🥰
I don't call out names so I hope I will be forgiven!😊
Sinead O'Connor - Feel So Different. This song has amazing vocals...
OMG I have never see Sinead perform…..this most bee the most emotional performing I’v seen in my life, I forgot to cry. Only stearing and hearing on this wonderful so underated woman I’m shocked! Love to see her open her mouth, and bee so relaxst at the same time. I agree with you, she is a so big musican she dont think of what she do, she just do it! I have see the video of this song over and over a thusen time +++++ I’m sure she had reall tears…..and Thank to Prince R.I.P for making it, I had read about her, and I saw her at a Opera-show in the 90’s…..I feel so sorry for her. She have a bipolar-diagnose, she traied suicide in -03. And her childhood was very difficult. Now she married for the 3 times, she’s orderd to a priest and she’s a Muslim now…..I love this beaty, she seems and hears like an angel 💞
Definitely the greatest cover of all time. The emotion in her music and voice is uncanny. I can't believe you haven't reviewed her before actually. Sad story about what happened to her for sure but she is a survivor!
Actually this is not a cover. Prince wrote the song for her!
It's a cover- Prince wrote it and it was recorded by The Family first.
This song was written for her voice! ..... no wonder Prince didn't like her. RIP to both of them
I was watching this a few weeks ago and was hoping you would do this. Especially this performance!!!! Its truly something to behold isn't. So much controlled anger and emotion in her actions, so real and RAW!
I saw her live in a rain storm, June 13, 1998 Guinness Fleadh Randall’s Island NY, she's exactly 2 months younger than me, so we were both 31.
She’s brilliant
Love Sinead so much
Emotion comes thru the voice most of all when it is pushed to the edge of the singer's ability to control it.
I can’t listen to this song without floods of tears. I really need to work on that.
So rare that the live version is so much better then the studio version.
Sinead takes me back to high school. I couldn't get enough of The Lion and the Cobra back then ❤
My all-time favorite singer for 25 years now.
Troy - Live at Pinkpop Festival. Amazing performance.
Yes please!!!!!!
Sinead sure make my emotions come to the surface ❤
RIP Sinéad O'Connor, this is a song of Price
First time I've heard a live version of this. And yep, I'd pay real money to see and hear this.
I became a massive fan of her first record in early high school. Jerusalem, Mandinka, I want your (hands on
Me),Troy
Beth she moves every one with her voice.Like you said she is a very good singer.Just the way she has full control of her vocals. She is truly a good singer.
Beautiful performance from everyone 😁
That gig was in my city, Santiago de Chile, to celebrate the end of Pinochet’s regime. Amnesty held a great 2 nights show called “un canto a la esperanza”. She was so good at stage and activism activities those days they all were here. I Will remember her here forever
I always love her music & she has the voice of an angel.. Im 37 & has listened to this song for 30 years..but i still has goosebumps all over me everytime i hear this song.
My ONLY regret is that i never had any opportunity to see her live in concert.
note: i know this comment is 2 years late, but if u read this Beth, did u get any opportunity to see the Taylor Swift Eras Tour? Coz i would really love to hear ur thought about the tour of this century..😊😊
❤❤❤
I cried when I first heard her sing this song too so emotional and she's such a warrior for what is right she gave so much.
Thanks BETH
Irish are able to express deep sorrow and pain with the most beautiful but haunting lilt.
She was blessed with the voice of an angel, and it cursed her life.
What I like from her aside of her talent and her brave is her stage style. She likes to jumping and bare footed. Even now when she already wear hijab, her stage style still not change. Jumping with feeling when singing and barefooted :D She still being her self! Plus her voice is still as great as before although she is already more than 50s yo. Love her.
I love her so much
We all cry to this
Congratulations for another "react", it is a pleasure to watch you and listen to the great Sinead O'Connor, it is one of the best videos I saw on your channel! 😉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✌️🏻
You might be surprised how goofy fun B52s singer Cindy Wilson is capable of embodying profound heartsickness. Check out from the eponymous first album Give Me Back My Man, Hero Worship, and the first act of Dance This Mess Around".
I could listen to any version performed by Sinead; the later ones are so full of emotion and pain.
Woah, I can't believe she visited my country! I didn't even know. I wasn't even born yet but I wish I had been able to go see her. Rest in peace, angel
