My hero academia: the only show to take over 50 episodes to get through a semester in your first year of high school. But let’s be honest, we wouldn’t have it any other way
Marro Bol , the school year brings in April. They have multiple holidays, and a summer a winter break, and the school year is over at the beginning at March, then they have about 3-4 weeks off before the school year begins. Sorry if I sounded confusing.
I agree but Deku needs to stop breaking his f***ing arms already Edit: guys I literally commented this years ago. You can stop telling me he uses his legs now. I know
Zach Johnson honestly I loved the fact that his bones would break, an op quirk with a huge drawback, great for storytelling. Example todoroki vs Midoria.

@@an18yearoldmongolianguy Oh yeah I completely forgot about him even though I have never watched 'Tokyo Ghoul' I have heard many times in comments about him that he cries very much 😂 in season 1.
Let's admit this. As he said, it's a Hero Drama series. A soup opera except when someone falls down the stairs dramatically it's Deku breaking his fingers.
No one: Gigguks: Its not porn, it is an unconventional method of entertainment that provides short-term happiness relaxation and a sense of peace in this chaotical world.
The fights scenes are really just the students losing and using up to 3 minutes to talk to theirselves and realizes they need to be stronger to become a hero then yelling "plus ultra" and the enemy just fucking dies
Lol literally the deku vs muscular fight in a nutshell Muscular: 'I have more experience with my quirk and its better developed than yours youre literally going to die' Deku: *has 3 minute flashback* 'one for all 1000000%' Muscular: 'bro wtf'
Exactly, that fight was hyped like it was going to be so cool, but it was trash. All for one is a guy who has stolen countless quirks and it is kinda disasspointing that his final resort was to just punch all might despite having countless quirks.
I wouldn't really call the fights dull, but rather straight-forward. This is due to the power system being pretty basic, there aren't much rules or consistency between the powers in the universe (unlike more structured power systems like nen, chakra, etc). As a result of a simple power system we get simple fights. However, the focus of the fights, for me at least, has always been more on the character development and less on the powers themselves. In nearly all of the fights of the series we can expect at least one of the characters to develop in some way and to get their moment of glory, which is really what makes this show's fights exceptional. That and the good animation.
@@BuffDaddySmoove I disagree. The technical aspects of the fights (which the video was talking about) aren't exactly great in MHA. I mean Kakashi vs Obito was pure choreography with about 2 abilities used in the fight, and it's MUCH more entertaining to watch from an "I want to watch a badass fight" aspect.
werr talking about fights not character development thats two different things and it may improve a fight scenes to a higher a degree but in this case were only talking about tbe fight scenes being dull
I would say the simplistic fights at this point are due to the Plot and setting. These are 15 year old 1st years, they aren’t going to be able to have complex fights like naruto, who are actually Ninjas, in 3 months of training. Instead we see fights gradually getting better as the students skill increases. In fact this should make you thrilled because if Horikoshi can make such an intense fight from a kid Flicking at a wall of ice, Imagine what he’ll be able to do when they really become able to FIGHT. Extra light Spoiler: Deku vs Gentle in the manga is a great example of this, choreography wise.
Vincent DeLuca Boy I've already red the Gentle Man Arc, but I don't like it a lot. I hate Gentle Man and I hate his fuckin bitch, I don't understand how Kohei wrote this after writing such a beautiful arc like Yakuza. Ps. Sorry for my bad English
Another reason why the fights are simple is, I think, because they're grounded in what actual combat is like. One thing I've really appreciated about this show is that the hits /hurt/, you feel them. The show don't need to spend 5 episodes having the characters dance around each other, punching and kicking and blocking to no avail. They just have to get in a few really good, solid hits and it's over. Like, you know, in a real fight.
also, real fights usually last a matter of minutes. modern war-style combat takes longer because it's a bunch of people hiding in buildings waiting for something to move, but something like an actual sword fight lasts maybe 2-5 minutes and is usually decided in one move because the first person to land a crippling blow is the winner. the fight between all for one and all might only takes longer than that because all for one spends the first part of it just knocking all might away from shigaraki.
IPlatinum\_/ Ace\ Set the comment filter to new and you’ll probably find quite a bit of salt. Not to mention that there’s a shit ton of dislikes on this video.
Duller than showier fights in other anime, yes, but still fun to watch, and do not lack creativity. If anything, they're just more realistic, having fire ACTUALLY burn, having punches hurt, having people get tired after a while, that kinda thing. They still have ingenuity to them, like when the characters think up strategies, they just are shorter and simpler.
I mean todoroki burnt Stein and he didn't have any burn scars at all but lol ok what ever keep lying to yourself. His mums hot water had more impact than his fire did apparently.
@@dan7564 Well... It's not like he uses his fire at max power. If he did, Stain wouldn't even exist anymore. He was all dark as in "slightly burnt", but nothing extreme. He wasn't using his fire to beat him but to keep him away. Todoroki's point wasn't originally to beat Stain (same for Deku), it was to keep him away, make him run if possible, in order to protect Native and Iida. That's something a lot of people don't understand because of all the shounen where people go at full strength without truly caring about killing or not... Todoroki is probably one of the most gentle fighters: he never tries to actually hurt. He just wants to stop them - which is probably his weakness. With his potential power, he could beat anybody, but he never uses most of his power. It might be because he was used to only using his ice, which is more of a defensive quirk. Although there's also the fact that Quirk users aren't simple humans. They're super humans: much stronger, much tougher. They can withstand a LOT more pain. It's obvious when you see the match Bakugou vs Uraraka. Bakugou is an idiot, so it's not like he was going at full strength, but he wasn't shooting empty. Yet Uraraka could take full on several of his explosions.
I think you just answered perfectly what I've been pondering over: Why, when I apparently have grown out of Shounen a while ago, do I enjoy Hero Aca so much? I don't even care for anime fights that much any more. Great work.
It's a coming of age story and those always have universal appeal (since everyone experiences growing up), like Star Wars for example, which Hero Aca makes blatant references to.
It's the first shonen where I've identified more with the adults than the kids, and that's a testament to how well *all* the characters are written, not just the under twenty crowd. I too got super bored almost with anime completely, but Hero Aca snagged me, because it's not really shonen. In a similar way to how Logan isn't *really* a superhero movie; it's a drama with superheros in it.
ZGX True. I like that everybody has just one ability that they have to figure out a way to use theirs effectively in different situations. (If your quirk is a long-ranged attack, how do you deal with enemy closing in on you? etc.) They might have established that repeated usage of quirk can gradually strengthen it, but I don’t think it’ll be anywhere near powercreeps in many shonens. Our casts (except, unfortunately, Izuku) will not be getting “power ups” or “transformation” in the middle of the fight. They’ll have to improvise their powers and use environments to their advantages.
I agree with this i think the purpose of each fight makes me care more about it than beautiful choreography.Midoriya vs todoroki fight is my favorite anime fight in recent memery next to netero vs meruem.
I still hate that fight, it was a chance to highlight characters and hero team work with a bunch of future heroes right there and then you got a boring ass 1 v 1 fight.
I think he meant, if you judge it by pure fight scene merits, its not all that interesting. But then you add character motivations and backstories, where it becomes good. You don't need ninjutsu to tell a story, after all. Whether that is true or not, that's for you to decide.
Despite fma having very few fights they have some of the best ones... wrath vs scar, envy vs mustang (if you even consider that a fight), wrath vs greedling etc.

@@blackbird7781 You know, claiming that the opponents have no arguments is a bad idea. It would be better if you wrote about your own arguments (and also what are your position in this question), so there will be actual discussion. If you want, I (or somebody else) can proclaim my argument first. Or you can just leave your opinon to yourself, cause opinions are opinions and there's not much sence in proclaiming them without explanation, even though you can do it if you want, but i'm just not going to discuss opinions. Anyway, most likely we are gonna conclude that we're just both subjective, cause people rarely change their opinions. But maybe we learn somerhing. Not trying to offend you, even though i think that you're a little bit toxic. And sorry if I have any errors.
as someone who loves BnHa...holy sh*t, you put into words what I've been feeling for a while. BnHA is more of a slice of life drama/comedy set in a superhero world rather than a full-on shonen anime. its characters and world are the priority and the fights are mere formalities (well animated and spectacular formalities) to get from one point in the story to another.
I have to disagree with the slice of life part though, but I agree with everything else you've said. There's a clear explanation on what a slice of life genre actually is in Joey's videos and MHA is certainly not a slice of life, but I get your point.
I'd put deku vs gental probably at number 2, but endeavor vs high end nomu was the best fight in the "manga." Idk how great it will be in the anime but that was a fun read!
Deku vs bakugo part 2 shouldve had more fighting and less talking. That whole fight just felt like it was just made for people to feel bad for bakugo. And Lol i still dont
My Hero Academia's fights are heavy but simple kinda proving that less is more. I do agree that MHA is definitely more of a character drama with great but simple fights and that's exactly why I love it and why so many other people love it too.
Keep redefining things to suit your narrative. Go watch the fight of Team 7 vs Zabuza for the first time. That is what a fight is, or the Last fight of Gon on greed Island.
These are some good points; the show's great but the fights aren't very technically interesting. The emotions carry everything, not the tactics in battles.
Every animator has to pick the elements they emphasize. A show with unlimited resources might do even more, and the show might be even better for it. That granted, I'm not sure if more complex fights would actually help the show and might actually work against it by drawing attention away from the emotions the show has worked so very hard to set up. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, and I can imagine that applying here. Food for thought anyway.
I actually think that that's what separates memorable action shows from the rest. The ones that manage to tell it's story through the fight, and not despite of it, are the ones that people will remember 5 years from now. MHA doesn't accomplish this for me. The story is not told with the fights, but is added in the middle of it, and the fight itself is an afterthought. Stain fighting style didn't reflect at all his rejection of hero society, he was just a speedy dude with swords. Compare that with Wrath from FMA. He hated humanity and felt anger that they weren't as perfect as him, and wanted to reshape them the way he wanted. So of course, he doesn't fight with tentacles and magic, he fights using the same abilities a human has, swordsmanship and hand to hand combat, but in a totally superior level that any human could ever reach, destroying everything in his way and showing his superiority. If the fights themselves are not important, then what's the point of them being there to begin with. To carry emotions? That's fine and all but at some point my patience will run off and i will start seeing this fights as a waste of my time and nothing else, which is what's happening to me right now with MHA's manga.
I appreciate how the combat is realistic. For example, when Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida fought Hero Killer: Stain, it didn't take a million shots or a huge explosion to defeat him. One swift kick from Iida and a simultaneous Full Cowling punch from Deku was enough to pull off the victory. Not all the fights in this show go all out
There's nothing realistic. You're gonna ignore the fact that Shoto was firing flames and ice at him for 5 minutes with no effect and he's just "dodging". They won because bullshit plot.
@@LG1204 I mean, Stain was called Hero Killer Stain for a reason isn't it? Besides, All Might fell from more than ten stories from fighting All For One yet he did not snap into two. Hero anime logic means that if you fall at least two stories, get scorched by a firebender, get frozen by an ice weilder, get punched in the balls at superfast speeds, had an explosion from hitting a robot, doesnt mean you will suffer extreme injuries. It's an anime, not a reality show. Even so, they confirmed he had broken bones and scorch marks all over his body. He snapped and went unconscious in the end.
The animation is good. That's why the full fights fly below our notice. You are quite right. In All Mights epic fight with All for one. He only threw three punches. The Nomu one was awesome though.
Thats one of the reasons why I like MHA so much. I rather have a "good" fight that takes 1-2 episodes than stuff like DBZ where it took Freezer like 3 episodes just to transform from his 3rd to his 4th stage.
12 episode fights are the reason of DBZ is iconic anime and there fans still hyped new season don't compare DBZ legendary fights fights with 2 - 3 punches fight By the way I am also a huge mha fan
The only reason I think people say it's dull, it's because the fight scenes are faithfully adapted from the manga, that's why the fights are literally panel-after-panel, but Bones just does a spectacular job of adapting it, so it doesn't look like Nanatsu no Taizai. Besides, anyone who read the manga from the beginning knows the strength of this series was never the actions, is characters and stories
tang toro I'm most likely gonna disagree with you, you're right. The characters are extremely overrated. Only Bakugou seems to have a little bit of depth. About the story. It has good soundtracks and animation. The show also shows the class interacting with eachother in the background, which makes it feel more organic. But that's all i can really say. Many other series are able to have both better action, characters and story. MHA is just mediocre in every aspect, in my opinion.
I really love Mineta, not just because the fucker alwasy makes me laugh whwn he is on camera , but rather cause he is a pervert. Think about it, even if he is a minor character, Mineta is still part of the show, and I strongly believe that he will get his moment of redemption, like he will be a better hero as he matures, actually caring to save people instead of getting the pussy. Thia is just wishful thinking, as we know he will still be low. And as I said he ia a minor character, so he will probably never get the redemption. Also because I see a bit of me in himl lmao.
MHA fights in a nutshell : 1. start off good 2. Dramatic ost comes on 3. The hero gets beat up 4. Heros flashbacks of their life 5. DETERMINATION AND FRIENDSHIP MODE ACTIVATED 6. The Heros fucking win... All the time
I think MHA goes for emotional moments instead of the technicaity other anime fights are known for. I don't think I've ever seen someone randomly getting a new "mode" in order to beat their opponent but that's not a bad thing it makes the fight seem like a genuine struggle where usually both characters are down by the end and the protagonist is just as damaged as the antagonist. Somehow it makes the idea of going beyond one's limits even more real cause they fight till they have nothing left.
Mha is realistic. They are still humans bakugo cant fight for long with enormous explosions. Deku can die. Those fights are acually better than Hajime no Ipoo's
Have you undergone a labotamy? There is no concivable way that a fight in MHA could ever be considered as good as any Hajime no Ippo fight. HnI fights are based on REAL BOXING, with real tactics and skills being applied on top of masterful emotinal arcs which outshine MHA in every possible way.
Well this is a story about Midoriya becoming the best hero, not the best high school student so I have faith for a better more complex and exciting fight
You know, I feel like people have expressed this exact idea about the original Star Wars trilogy fights for a long time - that they're not actually technically impressive, but the story and characters behind the fights + the story being told through the fights make people invested anyway. Stands to reason that same style would work in another show or medium...
ShroudedStriker they reason most of fights sucked in the og starwars was because of technical limitations. The prequels had the best fights hands down of the series but lacked in quality over all .
Yeah, pretty much what I was getting at. The OG starwars didn't have the budget or advanced tech to make anything as flashy and choreographed as the Prequel trilogy - meanwhile, some people had issues getting invested with the prequel fights because of the poorly executed storytelling. Either way, Star Wars is a great example of how the story can enhance and add weight to a fight scene and vice versa if executed properly.
(Me after seeing intense dodging, weaving, countering, and blocking) "I mean this is cool, but where's the REAL fight? (After seeing someone punch harder than usual once) "OH MY GOD THAT FIGHT WAS SO INTENSE"
Wakame Deku What's worse is they claim other people can't handle different opinions and *their* comment is an expression of *them* not handling other opinions.
Basically everything is opinionated though, so the entire idea behind "can't handle different opinions" is kinda dumb UNLESS the person is not adding anything to the discussion. IE " Your opinion is shit! Fuck you Gigguk!"
My Hero's action is more about the ideals and beliefs of the characters, Which is why they are such compelling fights. So in other words it's substance over style.
Thats the bull of it. The one watching is left with the impression that they should be the one coping with what the characters are feeling. YOU dont feel the emotion of the character enough especially with the protagonist. Mirio was better written imo in terms of that. Thats why it feels kinda empty but still has an impact
This comment section is weird, but as a MHA fan, I think this video is incredible because I actually watched it. Most of the people making fun of MHA simps I feel like didn't watch the video either, considering that they claim that this is 'criticism.' This video is pretty much a tribute to the message it gives and the quality of the writing. This video makes MHA look really good. Although I disagree the fights are not dull they are animated legendary-like. Good video either way.
Barely even an opinion. I know I'll piss some degenerate off but Gigguk has a huge and viable point. The series is great but relies on the "you know that happens and this happens, everyone is supposed to know this even if we told you nothing factor". But that only goes to some of the plot but not the characters as a whole, I mean look at Mirio who's actually a better written character than the main fucking protagonist.
To be fair it's kinda Gigguks fault. If it was on another website it would be called flamebait. I wasn't expecting this low from a great youtuber like him, especially because the actual video is very interesting.
My biggest gripe with fights in MHA is that one guy does a big move and then they spend a minute talking about how AMAZING it was. Like how Deku predicted Bakugo leading with a right swing before using his momentum to slam Bakugo into the ground, then they spent three more minutes talking about how clever it was.
Completely agree that MHA is not meant to be a battle series. The emotional aesthetic of the premise as the characters grow is what MHA is really about- their growth as heroes
Really bro? Not a battle series? The entire premise of the show so far has been Deku trying to get stronger to become a hero and battle villains. It has a psychological element, but there is no denying the fact that it's a battle focused plot.
Well i didn`t say my hero academia is not a battle series. Gigguk said that to argue the dull fights in the show. Which is a stupid argument. My hero academia is a battle series. It has dull battles. Don`t try to sugar coat that and say that hey that is a good thing because oh it focus on story and sht. You can do great fights and focus on the story. That was the most stupid argument i ever saw
0Clewi0 every fight in fairy tail doesn't end with nakama power. I hate fairy tail and I ain't even gonna down play the series like that. It's know to have nakama power in alot of fights not every one
To be fair, I think the reason why All For One didn't use a shit tone of quirks, and instead used all the quirks combined into a single arm, was due to him being in an incredibly weakened state and due to a lack of stamina, like All Might, a single full powered punch was all they both could muster to end the fight as quickly as possible. Btw, loved your take in this video, so please don't take this as a disagreement with your point.
WhatAHero Nope AFO just OP Horikoshi wrote himself in a corner had dumb down his ability to think so that AM can win. He could easily used technique based quirks that AM couldn't just punch through but again no real way for AM to win.
Actually, it's stated that he lost the majority of his stolen quirks when All Might first beat him. Add to that his statement on Best Jeanist's quirk, along the lines of a quirk based on technique and finesse (which he can't immediately use and would instead need to master) being useless to him, and you can understand his brute force approach. He's severely deprived of his resources and does not have the time nor the inclination to actually develop a winning strategy, but instead opts to stack modifiers onto his arm until waving it around can level New Zealand.
Sykan Lienne He never said based technique quirks are useless to him, if not he wouldn't have used Impact Reversal. It was just Best Jeanist quirk was something he had train and master.
well I watched some of the episodes I’m now in like episode 8 and I still don’t have ANY motivation to watch more I also ditched a lot of animes like darling in the franxx im on like episode six or five and nanatsu no taizai (I think this is how you’re supposed to say it?) and tokyo ghoul and A LOT others DX
I agree with everything said in this video, I'd personally use the word simple instead dull as, while not complex, the fights still give of a sense of excitement. However thats more semantics then anything else. Great vid nonetheless. 👍
One thing I would look at is BNHA Illegals, the vigilante spin off series. Though I would admit that the fights may not serve as much of a purpose that the main series does, I love the manga simply because of what it does to the world. In a series where the main characters are vigilantes, regular people without hero licenses who see a problem in the world and solve to correct it. The series takes place years before the main story, showing the origin story of Stain and showcasing how Midnight and Eraserhead became teachers at UA. But the thing I love the most about this story, besides the fact that I love the main characters and Iida Tensei (Tenya's brother, the former Ingenium, who is finally getting the much needed screentime he deserved), there are a lot of the same themes explored like the ones you were talking about for the main series. Because the point is, these main characters, these people who don't have the flashiest quirks, or even any quirks at all, who are putting their lives on the line to stop a horrible drug that mutates quirks and makes people loose control of themselves and their power... These people are, in the minds of society and the law, VILLIANS. Using quirks without a license and getting into trouble is the reason that they are actually confronted by pro-heroes. Heroes like Eraserhead have to think about the law and what these vigilantes are doing. There is a lot of thought into vigilantism and the laws behind pro-heroes, to the point where there is one character who is writing a thesis on the origins of pro-heroes and the purpose of heroes in society. And to get back to the point of this video, the spin-off series uses the premise of vigilantism to showcase the world-building and consequences of the world and the actions people take in it. Not only am I happy to see more of the pro-heroes, who admittedly, do not have to go through too much character growth, because they are mostly functioning adults who are able to do their job, but it is interesting to see them interact with the police and see how their day to day work manages to impact others. The focus on the police is also really important, with Naomasa (the detective who's friends with All Might if you don't remember him) taking centerstage and having to deal with this whole mess about the about the drug thats being moved. All in all, my rambling amounts to this, check out Illegals. It brings a lot of thought to the hero vs villain dynamic by showcasing the world outside this big battle of good and evil, with the pro-heroes against the villain alliance, One for All vs All for One. It brings in new characters, gives insight into the lives of characters we've met before, and all in all enriches the world of the main series. If you like the way the world-building blends with characters to create a fun and uplifting story that may have less character development through the fights, which also, admittedly may not be the most exciting, but bring insights that may have been glossed over, check it out.
I'm going to guess about half the dislikes are people just doing it for the memes, and the other half are exactly what you showed in that skit. And of course there's the people who just go around disliking every video, for some reason they exist.
Maybe if Gigguk gave a title that more accurately portrays the content and tone of the video itself instead of clickbait there wouldn't be as much backlash. And no, I didn't dislike the video myself and I generally enjoy his content, but you can't pull clickbait for views and not expect some people to react negatively. He knew this would happen going by his joke in the first few minutes of the video, so it's not like he didn't know what he was doing.
I'm not going to hit the dislike button for this video, even if I usually do whenever I see dubbed versions of the anime presented; but I think that's also one of the reasons.
Bakugo and Deku fight actually has pretty amazing choreography, almost all the other fights are boom boom swish swish. Though there are a few others that are cool and all of them are because of Bakugo lmao
What I don't get is why people look down on emotional battles like the last deku vs bakugo battle, where it was obv there for showing both characters personalities and development after the latest arc. Sequence was kinda cool but what makes these kind of battles great for me is the environment, context and story behind it. You can see their real struggles within themselves orchestrated with a cool battle in between. Battles like todoroki vs deku at the festival is another example, which was kinda dull in the sense of : deku breaking his arms and fingers all over again and todoroki spamming ice on it. What gave life to these battles is how characters develop thanks to them. How they learn and keep growing after these battles and start shaping theie personality traits throughout the series, also serving as a starting points for a character to grow . Yes yes yes
People who said those battles are dull don't really care though. I've seen some say those things makes their fight boring. So opinions play a HUGE factor here
@@acapitala4936 The fights aren't boring, they just don't do anything new that other shonen anime have already done. I'd rather watch an anime where most of the fights actually have strategy in them instead of an anime where the fights are basically just, big smash = win. And I've seen many shonen anime with the entire back flash during a fight, character development and all of that. It's not like MHA is reinventing how fights are seen in anime, it's just doing the same thing in their fights that other shonen anime do. That is what makes it dull.

That and the good animation.
this.
preach
@@BuffDaddySmoove I disagree. The technical aspects of the fights (which the video was talking about) aren't exactly great in MHA. I mean Kakashi vs Obito was pure choreography with about 2 abilities used in the fight, and it's MUCH more entertaining to watch from an "I want to watch a badass fight" aspect.
werr talking about fights not character development thats two different things and it may improve a fight scenes to a higher a degree but in this case were only talking about tbe fight scenes being dull
Chakra was a structured system but then eventually the power scaling broke and it just turned into Dragonball
Kind of felt like the same thing to me .
Horikoshi puts a ton of detail in. I mean he literally put similarities between the costumes because they were made by the same designer

What's all might' s excuse?
@@CoTheboxer he is just so powerful, that he doesn't need that anymore
*i will become an excuse man from now on*
Another reason why the fights are simple is, I think, because they're grounded in what actual combat is like.
That roast towards dragon ball, I can feel it
also, real fights usually last a matter of minutes. modern war-style combat takes longer because it's a bunch of people hiding in buildings waiting for something to move, but something like an actual sword fight lasts maybe 2-5 minutes and is usually decided in one move because the first person to land a crippling blow is the winner. the fight between all for one and all might only takes longer than that because all for one spends the first part of it just knocking all might away from shigaraki.
Yal Rathol Turn the minutes into seconds if neither combatant's wearing armor. It's rare to see even a full minute of fighting if that's the case.
Daniel Hounshell bladed weapons, no armour, between masters? i'd expect an upper limit of 2 minutes if they're both playing defensively.
Yeah a "real fight" where everyone has super powers 🙄.

Alucard you right
@@dan7564
Well...
Alucard fire doesn't burn anything in anime

I think you just answered perfectly what I've been pondering over:
Why, when I apparently have grown out of Shounen a while ago, do I enjoy Hero Aca so much? I don't even care for anime fights that much any more.
Great work.
StaySkeptic oh noo you just didnt say that. Mha has so much shounen tropes and yes those annoying ones too.
It's a coming of age story and those always have universal appeal (since everyone experiences growing up), like Star Wars for example, which Hero Aca makes blatant references to.
SAME! I barely watch shounen at all nowadays but Midoriya shounen is the shounen for me!
I actively dislike superhero movies and shows, as well as highschool shows. Yet I love BNHA. So they broke my rule of thumb :p
i can't believe Gigguk actually complimented MHA, but the fans just clicked dislike only because they saw the title
ikr
Idk I get hyped as hell when deku can use one for all in new ways
that doesnt make a good fight scene its just a new thing.
ZGX True. I like that everybody has just one ability that they have to figure out a way to use theirs effectively in different situations. (If your quirk is a long-ranged attack, how do you deal with enemy closing in on you? etc.)
They might have established that repeated usage of quirk can gradually strengthen it, but I don’t think it’ll be anywhere near powercreeps in many shonens.
Our casts (except, unfortunately, Izuku) will not be getting “power ups” or “transformation” in the middle of the fight. They’ll have to improvise their powers and use environments to their advantages.
Like the Eri asspull way?
I agree with this i think the purpose of each fight makes me care more about it than beautiful choreography.Midoriya vs todoroki fight is my favorite anime fight in recent memery next to netero vs meruem.
I still hate that fight, it was a chance to highlight characters and hero team work with a bunch of future heroes right there and then you got a boring ass 1 v 1 fight.
I think you were going for the fights being simple not dull since you go on about how exciting they are which contradicts it being dull
But he got you to click, didn't he?
Physically dull i think he meant
gotta get those clickbait views, dog
I think he meant, if you judge it by pure fight scene merits, its not all that interesting. But then you add character motivations and backstories, where it becomes good. You don't need ninjutsu to tell a story, after all. Whether that is true or not, that's for you to decide.

I have to disagree with the slice of life part though, but I agree with everything else you've said. There's a clear explanation on what a slice of life genre actually is in Joey's videos and MHA is certainly not a slice of life, but I get your point.

My Hero Academia's fights are heavy but simple kinda proving that less is more. I do agree that MHA is definitely more of a character drama with great but simple fights and that's exactly why I love it and why so many other people love it too.
A fight is not measured by the quality of the action, it is measured by the heart of the *S M A S H*
I'll have a shirt made with this written on it.
I Agree.
Yeah, can I use this for a shirt?
McGlubbin Fishworth I believe you mean the heart of the SEMAAAASHU
Keep redefining things to suit your narrative. Go watch the fight of Team 7 vs Zabuza for the first time. That is what a fight is, or the Last fight of Gon on greed Island.
These are some good points; the show's great but the fights aren't very technically interesting. The emotions carry everything, not the tactics in battles.
Exactly right :)
Yes but it would be better if it actually had great fights too...
That's fine and all but at some point my patience will run off and i will start seeing this fights as a waste of my time and nothing else, which is what's happening to me right now with MHA's manga.
actually almost every fight use some kind of strategy
what you mean is the action not tactics i think
I appreciate how the combat is realistic. For example, when Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida fought Hero Killer: Stain, it didn't take a million shots or a huge explosion to defeat him. One swift kick from Iida and a simultaneous Full Cowling punch from Deku was enough to pull off the victory. Not all the fights in this show go all out
There's nothing realistic. You're gonna ignore the fact that Shoto was firing flames and ice at him for 5 minutes with no effect and he's just "dodging". They won because bullshit plot.
@@LG1204
*"Hero Killer Stain"*
What do you think that name means?
What's the point of your comment? If you have an argument that's supposedly good, lay it on me.
@@LG1204
I mean, Stain was called Hero Killer Stain for a reason isn't it? Besides, All Might fell from more than ten stories from fighting All For One yet he did not snap into two. Hero anime logic means that if you fall at least two stories, get scorched by a firebender, get frozen by an ice weilder, get punched in the balls at superfast speeds, had an explosion from hitting a robot, doesnt mean you will suffer extreme injuries. It's an anime, not a reality show. Even so, they confirmed he had broken bones and scorch marks all over his body. He snapped and went unconscious in the end.
The outcome doesn't matter. Fights lasting for 10 minutes for no reason is the worst part.
The animation is good. That's why the full fights fly below our notice. You are quite right. In All Mights epic fight with All for one. He only threw three punches. The Nomu one was awesome though.
Nah
@@ranbirsingh4696 Yah
The villains and side characters are more interesting than deku
Simple but still done kinda well and doesn’t take 12+ episodes per fight
Thats one of the reasons why I like MHA so much. I rather have a "good" fight that takes 1-2 episodes than stuff like DBZ where it took Freezer like 3 episodes just to transform from his 3rd to his 4th stage.
"Namek will explode in 5 minutes"
12 episode fights are the reason of DBZ is iconic anime and there fans still hyped new season don't compare DBZ legendary fights fights with 2 - 3 punches fight
By the way I am also a huge mha fan
The only reason I think people say it's dull, it's because the fight scenes are faithfully adapted from the manga, that's why the fights are literally panel-after-panel, but Bones just does a spectacular job of adapting it, so it doesn't look like Nanatsu no Taizai.
Besides, anyone who read the manga from the beginning knows the strength of this series was never the actions, is characters and stories
tang roro Which characters are you reffering to? Haven't seen any really good characters so far. What specifically is good about the story?
If you really saying this unironically, no matter what I say won't change your perspective
tang toro I'm most likely gonna disagree with you, you're right.

Oh hey, another potential thing Horikoshi got inspired by from Star Wars!
This is a pretty interesting point
(Me after seeing intense dodging, weaving, countering, and blocking) "I mean this is cool, but where's the REAL fight?

Yeah thats true thats also true with one piece
Thats the bull of it. The one watching is left with the impression that they should be the one coping with what the characters are feeling. YOU dont feel the emotion of the character enough especially with the protagonist. Mirio was better written imo in terms of that. Thats why it feels kinda empty but still has an impact

Most of the people making fun of MHA simps I feel like didn't watch the video either, considering that they claim that this is 'criticism.' This video is pretty much a tribute to the message it gives and the quality of the writing. This video makes MHA look really good.

Álvaro Lopes Very nice comment mate XD
Oh no I misread that as "Vagina smash" 😂 -gotta get that puss-
My biggest gripe with fights in MHA is that one guy does a big move and then they spend a minute talking about how AMAZING it was.
You can say that about naruto too, grow as ninjas, one piece grow as pirates and his crew, katekyo hitman reborn grow as a mafia leader
but guess what, they are actually EMOTIONAL AND ARE BATTLE SERIES
Ah sorry didn`t realise you replied to the first one
Its the emotion behind the fight that makes them good In my opinion
Next fight is literaly emotions with some fight.
have you watched fairytail? bcoz if you havent, the i suggest you to do so. it might be your cup of tea
Oreki, it get's dull quicky with them ending winning each fight because "nakama power"
0Clewi0 every fight in fairy tail doesn't end with nakama power. I hate fairy tail and I ain't even gonna down play the series like that.
It's know to have nakama power in alot of fights not every one
Not every, just the ones that are hard enough.
Temujin18S Any reason on why you don't think AfO wasn't just weakened? Like it was actually stated and would just make overall sense.
WhatAHero he only used quirks thatd be able to counter or overpower allmight. He also migyt not have had many other quirks
Sykan Lienne He never said based technique quirks are useless to him, if not he wouldn't have used Impact Reversal.
It was just Best Jeanist quirk was something he had train and master.
"It might be dull, but sometimes dull is good" is basically the point of the vid

gigguk: mha fights are dull
MHA manga season 6: im about to end this mans whole career
Thouse will be still dull, the manga lacks in general creative fights
These people are, in the minds of society and the law,
VILLIANS.
Omg we need a thumb fight anime
Only anime where violent thumb wars gets this much hype
Cyril Gigee yeah
Don't forget people that dislike because they hear DUB audio playing in the background...
I wonder what am I? I watched probably more than 10 thousand videos but I never disliked even one...
