You forgot to mention when: You enjoy the first season of an anime, but it never gets more season. You continue with the manga, but soon you're getting out of chapters and still no sign of ending. You realize it's actually based of a light novel and continue with that. You read everything and still don't know how it will end. "The author is dead."

There were small hints but no huge flags. Lelouch saying those who kill should be prepare to be killed in EP1, the blood-staining the black king on the chessboard, and some others.
This and suzaku's "betrayal" at the shrine were enough to hint that he was gonna go off the deep end and commit to being a symbol of hate. Thus he would get his dues.
Hearing the code geass ost kick in at the end gave me goose bumps. "I destroyed...the world...and created...a...ne...w..." "BIG BROTHER NO DONT LEAVE ME"
imo one of the best things about the ending of Code Geass is realizing that Lelouch truly meant everything he said and stood by. He lead with the King, and he really did want to rid the world of tyrannical rulers and he made sure to kill the last one at the end of it all.
I feel like the anime could have only ended with lelouch dying, since his most famous line is 'the only ones who should kill are those prepared to die themselves'
@@lilchromieYeah the creators said it was the only logical path for Lelouch, it was an atonement for the sins he committed, and proof he would always hold to his ideals, even at the cost of his own life. Such a beautiful anime.
"Sometimes is about the journey not the destination. But when you have a breathtaking destination it can give even more meaning to that journey and make that entire voyage you took that much more extraordinary" -Gigguk 14:43 Holy shit this is such a powerful quote
The best part about that is the shows he flashes during that quote. ''Sometimes is about the journey not the destination.'' - Shows HunterXHunter, Gon climbing up to meet Ging whos about to tell him its about the journey not the destination. ''But when you have a breathtaking destination'' - YoriMoi In Antartica "Meaning to that Journey" - Finding Shirase's Mum's laptop. "that entire voyage you took" - Shows the terrible yet bonding ship ride to antartica they took. Gigguk truly has a way with these things, perfect choice of music and shows.

I remember when the ending credits of Code Geass started playing. I sat back in my chair and just stared into space for an hour. All I could think was "why?" My mind was blown.
It was an ending which filled me with many emotions. Especially confusion since I thought that his plan was stupid and global war would immediately break out due to the power vacuum of the collapse of all central authority across the planet.
I mean, that's not always true. They did a good job with Hunter x Hunter 2011, giving enough closure even if it was open ended. Way better than what manga readers have been dealing with. 😏
Madhouse Always give a sense of closure to their anime first season because they knew since the very beginning that they weren't gonna make a second season to that 😂😂😂😂
The ending of code:geass was absolutely beautiful. if you remember, back in S1 lelouch started with moving the king piece in chess and in the ending he ended with dying as king lelouch similar to how a chess game ends.
the fact that it was kinda over the top and stuff made it even batter for me! Im scared that this new movie is not gonna stand up to the "Code Geass" Name
Code Geass had such a good ending, not only because it was good plot wise, but also because in had a ton of themes in from the actual show. One of the obvious ones is Lelouch saying “You shouldn’t kill unless you’re willing to die yourself,” which he holds as an ideal to the end. Another really good part about that scene was the way it included contrast so well. During the entire show (and I know this because I literally finished rewatching it this morning,) one of the prevailing techniques is contrast. In most of the episodes you’ll find intense situations contrasted with relaxed through sudden cuts and the whatnot. In the final scene, the contrast is between the cheers from the crowd as ‘Zero’ kills Lelouch, the fanfare, and Nunnally crying over her brother’s dead body. This manages to wrap up the themes of contrast really well, and this paragraph is rlly long oh god
And that gets even more overwhelming when you also figure out that *THE WHOLE SCENE ORCHESTRATED BY LELOUCH TO COMPLETE HIS END GOAL*. And not just the audience but along with the characters that were in the dark about this. This gets me the most. Because every part of the scene has a logical answer to exist. It was such an ending that needed ZERO change.
To add to this, another of Lelouch's principles was 'the end justifies the means', where the end goal of global peace justified his sacrifice. Why I think Code Geass and other classics have great endings is because they know when the story ends, they have a vision for it, and end it there without trying to milk it as much as possible, thus the story stays true to its themes. Lelouch wanted people to be happy, and that was it, no need for a surprise extra arc where C.C. becomes a giant space mecha and fights intergalactic aliens.
Oh for SURE. Another interesting contrast is the COMPLETE switch between Lelouch and Suzaku. For the entire series, Lelouch was fighting desperately for his and Nunally's survival. Meanwhile, Suzaku was fighting mostly because he had a death wish: he feels guilty for causing his father's death and so wants to atone for his sin by committing himself to reckless acts of selflessness that may or may not kill him in the end. And yet... the ending completely flips the table: Lelouch, the person who considered himself "King" of the chessboard--the invaluable piece that must lead the charge but inevitably is more important than everyone else, sacrifices himself to uphold the Zero Reqiuem and Suzaku, he who thought himself disposable ended up having to bear the cross of becoming Zero--the symbol of destruction and revolution (which he also despised at the beginning of the series). Lelouch solved his problems by becoming exactly the opposite of what he thought he needed to be and so did Suzaku.
"There's no such thing as a painless lesson-they just don't exist. Sacrifices are necessary. You can't gain anything without losing something first. Although if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you'll find that you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle. Yeah... a heart made Fullmetal." ― Edward Elric
"It's... the law of equal exchange! You give me half of your life and i'll give you half of mine." "That's not right, you dummy! I'll give you all of my life." (i should look up that scene to give a better quote)

The reason it still going is because the games are still selling. I recall an interview a director (I guess?) said that if Ash win a League, the story will end (which is absolute BS) and other plot points like Ash's dad actually appearing would only happen if they felt the need, AKA the show is getting low ratings. So yeah, the only way for us to get an actual plot development and a conclusion, is to NOT watch the anime...
@@SuperSylar Oh I'm aware, Ash is just my prime example of how never ending a story can either ruin character (both Pikachu level and Ash's IQ seem to reset), or leave characters in purgatory (the decision that Ash won't win a League until they end the series). To top all that of, there is evidence in Japanese only promotional material for Mewtwo Strikes Back, that there was a plan flashforward scene where Misty was talking to her daughter, and Ash was implied to be the father. That's a (planned and scrapped) happy ever after for Ash that's very unlikely to happen after dragging out the series this long!!!
The more you think about Code Geas, the more you realize how amazing it truly was. I’m sure at some points people realized that the anime was sort of throwing shit at you but that ending really brought every single detail together and created one of the best endings to an anime, ever.
Code Ass can only impress you if you're not thinking what you're being shown. The ending in particular paints already not-so-genius-as-they-try-to-sell Lelouch as irresponsible tantrum-throwing manchild with insane troll logic, who got all the opportunities to reach his life's goal but screwed it all over, undone all of his accomplishments and sent the world deeper down the shithole for no reason that would be justified by plot. Only so that he could "tragically" die and make you, naive viewers, cry over him. That's not what I call good writing.
The irony: in the case of Code Geass, the ending made me watch the show in the first place. I started the anime but didn't really keep up with it (maybe because of cat & pizza episodes). By accident I saw the famous ending scene and was baffled. I had to find out how Lelouch got there and experience everything. And I did and it was still worth it!
Yea the season 1 is not as good has the 2 but the good moment before the characters well... DIE are really nostalgic, the anime had a lot of problems to make but they still gave a great experience and i would love to see a remake that focus on making batter the secondaries character (and maybe killing nina in the way because nuclear warhead)
Yea For me I was somehow never spoiled for the ending but saw people praising it a lot And I have to say I liked code geass but the ending made me love it
This might be me but I liked those filler episodes more and more as I rewatched. Maybe it’s because I know what is going to happen to these characters and want to savor every interaction they have with each other before it goes to hell.

...Wait, you didn't realize that all the best anime are originals? I mean, okay, a lot of anime originals are garbage, but the majority of the best of the best, the anime we really remember, is originals. Generally, if a show seems *really* interesting and unusual, it tends to be an anime original. There are, of course, exceptions (everything ONE's ever written, for... erm... one).
I had to look for a video to watch that praised Code Geass before I could head to bed. The ending left me in silent tears and they're still falling. The Cat Episode and the 2 Pizza (yes, there is one pizza episode in season 1, and another in season 2 asudhasudhasudh) episode were really important to code geass plot, as we can see the humanity side of the characters in a bloody and tragedy anime..... We cannot forget the love cupid episode in season 2 kkkkkkkk, i laught a lot with this episode.

Colors By Flow might just be my favorite anime opening of all time also I need more Johnny and Yuri as best friends in anime or videogame ( thank you P3 and Code Geass)
The reason why I love Code Geass' ending is because Lelouch purposely made himself the last evil boss in the story, getting all the hate and chose the character of Zero (whom he made) to end the "evil" in the world.
It's quite simple. When an anime is good, it consumes you for the 20 minutes you're watching it. When an ending is good, it consumes you for hours afterwards and has an impact on your life. I loved your comments on Darker Than Black and Code Geass, two of my favourites. Good vid.
Bradley McMartin, Darker Than Black was so good.... until season 2 happened. I watched that show such a long time ago, but I still remember reeling in shock about how bad season 2 started, continued, and ended. The russian girl with the gun, the bee girl, and a drunk old man... that's all I remember Now season one was wonderful.
Darling in the Franxx.. so many feelings and the way they got you to care about the characters in a way that when you saw something tragic happen to any of them you just felt bad for them even if they didn’t exist
Code Geass to me was literal perfection in an ending. The completion. It was my first anime and I will never ever forget it. It felt so complete and satisfying.

Ok Let this thing clear so you can move on Its confirmed that lelouch died If you watched any video saying it's original ending of Japanese cut from English dub Its fake and edited confirmed by the show staff And the new movie resurrection of lelouch follows all recap movies which are set in alternative universe where shirley didn't die So it doesn't matter In conclusion he died
They never said he was dead, it is open to spectator opinion if he survived or died, and Lelouch "dead" in Anime has a big meaning, like his most common phrase "The only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed" Code Geass is filled with a lot of little things that have big menaings, also those little things they throw you in the 2 seasons connect in the very end, like almost everything was planned, theres a lot of symbolism and a lot of religious references. Like we could say Lelouch is Jesus, and he "died" for our (and his) sins
I also loved the Clannad: After Story ending. It's one of the things that turned it into my favorite anime of all time, it was similar to the Code Geass ending in the sense that it was built up throughout the entirety of the anime and it was just so god damn satisfying in the end. FMAB's ending is also awesome, and Fruits Basket. Those are the best I can think of.
Code Geass is in my top 5 all-time but I still think AOT (if last season delivers), HXH, Death Note, and FMAB were a little better. However, the show is a masterpiece

@@LelouchWasTaken on the topic of sequels that damage the original endings... I seriously did not understand why Shirley lived in that movie. It added nothing to the story, and took away from Lelouch's motives when he was begging Suzaku for help. She became just a forgotten harem option rather than the person Lelouch potentially cared most about. Lelouch could be alive or dead and it wouldnt change much of the impact the original ending had. Either he sacrificed his life or sacrificed his ability to ever die. Immortality being a curse was well established as a plot point in the story. If the movie ends up sucking I will just remember him as 100% dead in one of the best endings ever.
@@SephirothsBIade The whole point of the differences between the movies and the series was to show that they are not based in the same reality but rather alternative ones... it's the best of both worlds, because the original perfect ending will stay as it is and those who want to see some more Lelouch can just watch the sequel.
Shows like Fullmetal Alchemist 2003, Code Geass, Macross left such an impact because they gave a beautiful end to a beautiful voyage. Like the feeling you get after reaching home after being away from it while travelling for a long time and it just makes you feel warm in your heart like you found peace. I remember watching Gantz and then suddenly seeing an ending which I never thought would happen in such a stupid way so I checked the manga and read it whole to find it's ending and stilll waiting for mushoku tensei to end in its original ending.
KevinCaveMan x no people miss the point with the darling in the franxx ending. First off the whole show isn’t meant to be taken literally. It’s just a giant metaphor on life (friendships to family to romance to sexuality), death, rebirth, and the beauty of impermanence. The final scenes weren’t what we wanted, the characters deserved much better, but it’s okay because in life these things happen (I believe Kokoro even said that exact phrase at one point). A lot of the beauty of the show to me came from the fact that there were these incredible, beautiful moments scattered in their cruel world (whatever world or situation that may be, as it doesn’t matter) and the characters slowly come to realize that the important thing is to hold on to those moments. They aren’t afraid that they’re going to their deaths at the end, because they’re together and they’re giving back to the people they care about.
Eren Jaeger exactly. I’ve seen a lot of anime and I mean a lot. That’s why darling in the Franxx is my all time fav no debate simply because of the beauty of it. No other one I’ve watched has touched me the way it does. It’s not one of the best ever, but personally it’s my favorite.
Honestly the last episode was good (i rly enjoyed it), and the very very end where child Hiro and 02 meet again under the old tree gave me so many feels. Although the few episodes before the last were a bit of a cluster fuck.

JIBUUN WOOOOOOOOOOOO
oh i cried
Also, code geASS? really?
the fact that it was kinda over the top and stuff made it even batter for me! Im scared that this new movie

I had to look for a video to watch that praised Code Geass before I could head to bed. The ending left me in silent tears and they're still falling. I don't think I will ever watch it again because I think one watch through was enough to make it my all time favorite even after all the anime I've watched. It was a perfect ending, but damn.. if it wasn't painful. After cheering for his successes and only getting to be the viewer that remained loyal to him through season 1 and 2. I cursed his enemies, cheered for his success, and felt every bit of satisfaction as the anime came to a close. Even without knowing what Requiem Zero truly meant, I felt loyal till the end. I was rooting for him. Only after he died did I realize what I wanted most was simply for Lelouch to survive. But he got everything he wanted in the end, didn't he? ^^ almost.

They never said he was dead, it is open to spectator opinion if he survived or died, and Lelouch "dead" in Anime has a big meaning, like his most common phrase "The only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed"
Code Geass is filled with a lot of little things that have big menaings, also those little things they throw you in the 2 seasons connect in the very end, like almost everything was planned, theres a lot of

Other animes have great ending that are built up to the entire show.
Darling in the Franxx:
No
the ending made me feel empty and starved for more afterwards.
That ending wanted me to kill myself, I mean they better make a DITF ending redo.
