The voice acting one hits so much more when you realize that the girl is the basic “forgets everything and is always nice and never complains” type. Her breaking is so rare that when it happens this good, it really leaves you speechless.
Hayami Saori is the freakin GOAT. There are posts and comments on similar videos talking about how the whole studio and voice acting cast had to take a moment to process what she just belted out in a SINGLE TAKE.
Makes me even sadder that they never did anything with the scene and she went on to apologize and continue to be nice to the MC.
@@adizcool2-655I haven't seen this show so I was at least hoping something would happen afterwards. Too bad. The scene is still great though
i thought the show would’ve been bland cuz of the title but when i saw it then i saw it was so good, from the characters to the actual plot which the show is centered around really made me enjoy this, and the fact that almost all the characters a likeable as well, especially the mc

Geez bro Garnt can write a hell of a script. He explained these scenes so vividly it felt like I was him watching these scenes for the first time.
I love how this video's title changed so many times in such a short time.

And the fact that doesn't make sense to me is that 12 years ago was 2011 ! How !!
The "when supernatural battles became comonplace" monolog was such a shock to me because the way everyone around the mc talked about it didn't feel like they were that bothered by the way he speaks just a bit annoyed, but this scene made me realize how much resentment can build up from "quirky" behavior, the voice actor NAILED it even if the rumors about it being done in 1 take are false I don't think many VA's could pull off the emotions of the character the way she did, a 10/10 performance.

I accidentally ruin Hatoko moment for my self after accidentally skipping a episode to the one ahead of it.
she’s a fantastic VA, she brings out so much emotion in all her roles, especially in Darling the Franxx
I think it's quite believable that Hayami-san did it in one take, but it's probably not replicable even by herself. Kind of one of those "in the moment" things if you get what I mean. I seem to recall that she pulled off another similar feat, which was when she did a cover of Yuuki no Hana for an IdolM@ster albm
>are false<
is this confirmed or did you mean that in a hypothetical sense
I felt that monologue at the soul level. Rip all chunibyo people out there. That scene was the hardest roast ever

The true classic anime that i probably will always remember as the the best roast ever
@@eavyeavy2864uhm... huh?
It's what you call retrospection, not roasting.
It was a clip of that scene (from Khornime) that made me watch the series. So damn good.
shikamaru and his dad playing shogi gets me every time. i have no resistance for a good father son moment.
My sister begged me to watch Naruto 2 years ago, and I'm glad I gave it a shot as a promise, maybe that's a challenge to get over grief, that's what I thought, and I see it now 😢😢😢
Another INCREDIBLE Parent-child moment was ReZero S2 Episode 4. That episode was one of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen. It was f**king incredible.

My favorite dialogue is probably Erwin's speech before the charge against the Ape Titan. The fact that he is accepting to die, along with his conviction and selfishness that they are giving their life for the ones to come still gives me chills whenever I listen to it again. "Give up on your dream and die", god I'm still crying to this day. What a character
One of the legendary scenes in Attack on Titan
That scene together with the scene where he loses his arm turned Erwin into one of my favourite anime characters of all time. It proved that he isn't just all talk when he says hes willing to sacrifice everything and die for the mission. No in the moment he is almost swallowed up alive by a titan and could have easily died right there he doesn't even flinch or look in the direction of the titan for one second. In what could have been his final words he only urges his men to carry on with not one thought of survival.
I remember being on the verge of tears that entire episode, never I have been more immersed in an anime than that season of Aot.
The speech is amazing as hell
Honestly, the scream after he gets encouragement from the people for the first time is it for me. No words from him but goddamn that yell could motivate me to fight a bear.
dude, literally for years I've been looking for the "When supernatural battles became commonplace", all I had in memory was this exact scene. Thank you so much.
Same.
That little clip in the running scene of A Place Further Than the Universe where Shirase's shoe falls off but then Kimari picks it up for her is so special to me. It somehow has the same weight as if she had saved Shirase's life or something. I don't know, it's weird, but something about the serendipity of it combined with Kimari's lack of hesitation is just perfect.
When they’re devoting so much on this trip, it might as well be a life saver. Its such a little detail but it tells so much about their trust and passion, w show
If someone is there for you, they are there to save your life or pick up your shoe. They are there.
honestly the mom scene later makes me laugh every time with the father holding the door closed
Personally, it was the ending to odd taxi for me. Endings in anime is truly such a rare sight now, and to have one so beautifully written truly did hit different. I remember laying back in my chair reminiscing all memories despite just watching hours before.
To me it was the ending of Gurren Lagann.
@@erosama4887 one of the greatest endings ever! Among many other moments during its course, to me that one is when it's the most clear how under the facade TTGL is a really mature show, not just dumb fun and raw emotions.
The ending of Samurai Champloo always hit different for me. Like, none of the MCs are dead, but it still makes me so sad to see the three of them separate and go their own ways after all they've been through.
@erosama4887 The first half of the final episode is the hypest moment in anything ever (ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH), but then the second half hits all the feels, and that's why Gurren Lagann is a masterpiece.
"when anime endings just hit different" would be a great video
In A Silent Voice, when Tomohiro explains what a friend is, is one of my all-time favorite scenes. It explained friendship in such a simple but profound way.
The mangaka is a savant. To Your Eternity makes me cry regularly. Pioran's story was one of the hardest things I'd ever read.
TRUE. Absolutely important
true there are many scenes in silent voice worth mentioning

@@MetalMonkey1453 I was originally going to comment about episode 12 of To Your Eternity, but remembered the scene I chose. To Your Eternity is one of my favorite anime.
S1E1 of To Your Eternity breaks me everytime, when he realizes that he is alone and that he wont be able to save himself is heartbreaking
For me it was a 1st time that i cried bc of nameless charcter dying alone, in the middle of nowhere, without any hope of survival...
Literally, it got me so emotional, than I ever had been on any other anime
The fact i had to give TYE a break after what went down in episode 12, not many animes can hit you like that show
Every arc in that season made me tear up. It was so special 😭.
(And No, there is no such thing as the Jananda arc)
One anime that broke me out of nowhere is Shirobako, Ep 23 when they are in the recording studio and she's hearing her friend voicing a character in the anime she's put so much work into. Then all of a sudden, all the emotions hit her at once, they've done so much work to get there and it's really happening. She starts balling, holding the script up to her face trying to hide it. That moment made me cry so hard, and I find myself thinking about that moment every so often. It's a happy moment full of so much emotion that it's a fav scene of mine.
See, I know you meant bawling, as in crying, but the idea of her suddenly pulling out a basketball and dunking on fools is fucking hilarious
Personally, Lena finally meeting Shin and the crew in 86 blew away my expectations. Just when I thought 86 couldn't get any better, it blew me away again. No other piece of media has been able to recapture the feeling of those final moments.

Finally someone acknowledged Supernatural Battles's voice acting.
The first time I heard it I literally cried, the character was always trying to fit in with all of them, and the voice acting delivered it perfectly, can't believe I myself forgot about it.
Finally, someone acknowledged? Watttt??
Yeah, for me my memory is crap and so because I never made a note of it in my MAL anime list I genuinely forgot it. But the moment he started talking... I knew it and *felt* it again. Had me trembling.

I'm so glad Kids on the Slope was mentioned! It has a special place in my heart and I don't see it mentioned often. I know very little about music, but this show had me genuinely spellbound.
I'm starting anime content and I would like to improve, can you tell me what I can do to improve? Thanks
Hits on so many levels---a character study; a jazz showcase festival; a historical retrospective.
It's such a gem that deserves more attention!
Subaru being able to tell Echidna about RBD was one of the most cathartic and emotional scenes I've ever witnessed in animation. The cherry on top was her innate understanding of all of it. Being able to talk to someone and tell them all the shit in your head and heart and they can turn to you and say they know and they understand on a level synonymous with your soul is something I can never stop searching for.
Glad I wasn’t the only one, I also really liked the ep (or maybe eps) where rem gives Subaru that pep talk when he wants to run away and how she tells him she knows their are things he knows that he can’t tell to others and how she knew he would know where the white whale would be even without the metia
Speaking of voice acting, Re Zero episode 15 has to be one of the best examples. Petelgeuse's maniacal laughter, Subaru's broken mind, and Puck's wrath are all conveyed perfectly through their voice actors.
Such a good example, Ep 15 has like all of these moments (bar the last one) combined, but _especially_ the voice acting is a stand out
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Yuusuke Kobayashi are fucking legends
Yep, this. That scene stands out not only for voice acting, but soundtrack and cinematography too. It was an outstanding mix of a variety of things that succeed in making you feel all the emotions the protagonist is feeling at that very moment. Still one of the best single episodes in anime
Yeah, that scene was the epitome of despair for me. Hearing the ending of that episode was the most despair I've ever felt in my life.
Man the end of that episode lives in my mind rent free. So powerful
Re:Zero has a ton of great moments, and that right there is definitely my top 3. First goes to Subaru going through the Rabbit death, the second trial for Emilia where she has to accept the reality that she lives in rather than the unthinkable present that shows everything she might have once desired coming true.
Saori Hayami's performance as Hatoko was so breath taking, so raw, so real, so powerful that she became one of my favourite VAs. I simp whenever i hear her voice.
Some characters she voiced are Yuki Yukinoshita from Snafu, Yor Forger from Spy X Family and Kamisato Ayaka from Genshin Impact
This is hilarious. Thanks for sharing.
I recommend you watching Kakegurui. Saori Hayami voices Yumeko from that series and As a all-time Saori Hayami Fan, I can say that this is her most expressive and finest performance.
There is a Hatoko edit where the subtitle is about her not getting gamer lingo instead of chuunibyou stuff. That lives rent free in my head for YEARS
She’s also Fubuki from OPM, Yamato from One Piece, Shinobu from Demon Slayer, and Shouko Nishimya from Silent Voice.
As another Saori Hayami simp. The Hatoko scene is my favorite moment of her VA skills and it's such a shame it's from a very mid anime
That scene of the girls running made me tear up too, I think it's a blend of the action and their excitement combined with the music which seems to convey a nostalgic sensation, the song and music definitely set the moment.
Don't forget about the physics animaton.

Saori Hayami continues to take my breath away with each role she takes, she's my favorite VA of all time. I'm glad her range of voice acting is getting the recognition it so much deserves!
She is my favorite as well. Gosh her performance is always amazing.

From voicing the calm and mild Yukino to a Crazy Girl Like Yumeko she is indeed Amazing!!
The first time I knew her I think from the anime Anohana and Hyouka. And after that in most of the anime that I watched I would usually be able to hear her voice even if she was a supporting character.
I wanna more.
Also, so glad gigguk mentioned "When supernatural battles become common place". Bc it's my favorite seiyu moment ever existed.
Speaking about the "emotional part", I totally get the feeling, I think every one of us weeks have this one special title, that noone else really understand why, but it gets to you core every time you watch it. Mine is Houkago no Pleiades
agreed, till this moment this is one of those moments in anime that I probably will never forget, like that sounded and felt real

I totally forgot about this anime, but the moment he brought up the name, I knew exactly what he was gonna talk about
Maybe it's a cop-out, but the English dub of Subaru's meltdown in season 1, episode 18 of Re:Zero is a _phenomenal_ example of good voice acting. The sheer, raw emotion in it, not to mention the fact that the self-loathing diatribe hits really close to home for some people, just captivates me from start to finish.
Tbf both the original and English voice actor for Subaru are amazing and definitely the highlight of Re:Zero.

A scene that I always go back to is ep 22 in 86 when Lena doesn't know she's talking to Shin. Everything was perfect. The dialogue, music, voice acting, visuals is amazing. I'm still surprised on how much people sleep on 86.

that scene was so well done. im glad they took their time to release the ep instead of rushing it
Sawano hiroyuki is a legend
Last eps really a Masterpiece
What makes the supernatural are commonplace scene all the more heart breaking to me is how much she clearly tried to understand him, she remembered it all even if she couldn't understand it. As someone who often goes on unhinged technical rants to people who rarely listen, even if shes venting her frustration, it is genuinely heartwarming to know that she was infact listening to every word he said.
There's something about this show overall that I just love, but it got so little attention. Really wish i could read the whole LN series.
This exactly. She listened to every bit of his edgy rants, she remembered all of it, you can tell how hard she tried and how desperate she is.

@@claras6787I know everyone wants to blame the MC (and he IS partly responsible), but she's also at fault for bottling up her feelings and not telling him anything.
The animation was phenominal as well
I don't know when I fully started simping for Saori Hayami but that very scene in InoBato just might have been my first blow of seeing the sheer talent my literal favorite voice actress has. I still remember laughing at the MC being chuunibyo and the very moment she snapped my jaw just kept on dropping further and further by the second~
And to know after all this time she just did 1 take for it just makes me love her even more~
Kids on the slope was as a jazz drummer insane to see not only the animation be correct but the style, the dynamics, the parrys of solos. Shit bro it just hits
I really missed these types of gigguk videos .
I thank you for delivering us all such a masterpiece of a video.
Yeh he should keep doing these. 👌🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼
my prime example of fantastic voice acting is that scene from supernatural battles. It was especially powerful given her character type. She was the semi ditzy, positive, caring, and accepting. To see her finally snapped even from the clip in this video I still get teary
For me that scene was extremely cathartic.
As a Dutch person, our 'direct' straight to the point no bullshit nature and attitude is the exact opposite of the way of being of the Japanese.
Because of that, such a thing as a chuuni cannot exist in our society. They'd be ridiculed and laughed at and pulled straight within 5 seconds after uttering a chuuni-esque rubbish sentence.
So seeing chuuni people in Anime being allowed, tolerated and/or ignored by their surroundings in Anime always felt a bit off to me. ""Why isn't anyone calling them out on this bullshit?! Fucking timid useless people omg!".
This scene, thus, felt better than sex to me. It showed me that the people around chuuni idiots DO think they're weird, and they aren't just Skyrim NPC's that you can just rob by crouching in front of them as you pickpocket them in broad daylight as they're speaking to you.
I believe that was one of the things that made Saori Hayami more of a household name. She definitely had her fair share of roles prior to 2014, but after that point you can see the amount of work she gets skyrocket from that year onward. It's also the scene from inou-battle that people remember the most, so she damn well deserves the credit there.
while she had those lines she never once tried to get into his games of just playing around she never tried understand why he does what he does. she is the normie forced into what everyone else understood, when chuni became real she tried to ignore it . if she had asked him to explain he would have. stil how did she did not break her voice after that.
@@world4saker she did try to understand that's the whole point of the speech, she was frustrated and jealous that tomoyo could easily understand, she straight up said it when she told tomoyo that she was in love andou. Hatoko is a smart girl, she's just not as creative as him. She didn't ignore any of it either cause I believe it was episode two they were doing a "monthly powers check-up" where she fought with chifuyu using her powers over the elements, she clearly had been practicing with them probably in order just to get closer to andou. One might think she was being creative but I saw as more scientific given that she chose to turn fire and earth into magma
@@ayporosbeing a chunni is not a norm in Japanese society, for most part it's an anime troupe like a tsundere, yaandere etc. But in real world there is no tsun/yandere, in case there are other word used for them is "Bitch" or "Psycho". Also let's be honest when we watched anime or anything as a kid we dreamed and often practised their moves as if we would also be a hokage/Saiyan/shinigami/pirate
19:23 I think this happens for me quite a lot.
There are few anime I regard as being able to make me cry "with every episode" and those would be Violet Evergarden, Gakuen Babysitters, and My Roomate Is A Cat. They have their sad moments but more often than not, it's just the purely wholesome, touching and bittersweet moments that make me cry - like genuine tears streaming down my face, crying. Not just teary eyed.
Or I'll hear the soundtracks from some animes and feelings just overwhelm me and I feel my nose start to be stuffy and I start getting teary eyed. That happens *everytime* I hear "Across The Violet Sky" for instance (which is also from Violet Evergarden).
Violet Evergarden is honestly my favorite story I've ever witnessed, it goes past just being my favorite anime. Watching her grow and become herself is amazing every time I watch it.
I always enjoyed Tsukimonogatori's dialogue at the train station between Araragi, shinobu, Kagenui, and Ononoki. Specifically when she tells him to never use his power again. There's a lot of weight carried in this scene and is heavily underrated in the series.

It tackles what other media tries and fail to make a point about violence and the consequences of it (aka The Last Of 2) and does it perfectly. The first "boring part" is all about you watching what once was a raging angry kid that devoted his life to kill a person now becoming an adult with no life goals no direction no self-worth just because his whole goal in life was taken away from him, and now he is left with no self-identity and the sins he committed once without ever thinking on the consequences are now coming back to him.

To me, Gojo and Geto's conversation in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 5 was a moment that left me speechless.
The way Gojo slowly starts to lose his cool and begins to yell while Geto stays exactly the same, the cars around them start speeding by faster and faster, the camera starts zooming in closer to their faces every time a car passes by, the animation looking more unorthodox and distorted as the scene goes on, and Geto turning around and leaving while knowing of Gojo's hesitation to kill him then and there, it all makes the scene so perfect and tense.
I feel like anyone who has seen Supernatural Battles has that scene etched into memory, its crazy how many years later how much I can still feel the emotion from it when I think about it, such strong staying power that I probably even go rewatch it every few months just because it is so good, still gives me goosebumps.

The scene with Hayami Saori from "When supernatural battles become commonplace" gives me chills no matter how many times I watch it, even 10 years later. This is the scene that made me start recognizing voices and following other works of hers.
Same here. I did not pay too much attention to voice acting before but after that scene, my perspective change tremendously. Now voice acting for me is also an important factor in defining a good show.
And given that quite recently the LN with that line was translated... it's way better in the anime. Hayamin's performance elevated the scene beyond what it was just reading the LN, or what most other VAs could've done.

JAZZ SHOW YES MORE JAZZ SHOW
My favorite thing on Flowers of Evil were the flowers, the spiky/fuzzy little eyeballs on stalks that all turned to look at you, a whole field of eyes just watching you, it was so surreal yet so interesting, as for the artwork, once you learn the process of how it was made, it gives you an appreciation of the effort it took, as far as I know, it is the only anime that used rotoscoping to make it's characteristic look, and this was before they had auto rotoscoping tools or AI that can convert live video into anime or illustrated style videos, so it took a very long process to make, that's why the art style looks so realistic, cause it's live acting with added illustrated details like the flowers themselves, that gives it it's unique appearance.
The running scene in A Place Further Than The Universe always makes me feel a tightness in my chest but also a lightness in my heart. It's so nostalgic for a time when things were so simple and the whole world felt like it was in front of you. It captures a pure moment of joy in these girls lives and it feels so magical. Ngl, that show was kinda good. It's a little trope-y but I liked it a lot. I hope another season was made.
Really hope you get round to a second video or this (or even a third). Just love the calm and direct narration that comes with you letting your thoughts out for all these scenes and even highlighting points I may have never considered.
Thanks for sharing these clips. Indeed, I'd love to see you share more - we fans all have those special moments, and sharing them makes all of us richer.
That supernatural battles scene hit me so hard. For a mediocre anime at best, that scene is the greatest piece of voice acting in anime history.
Saori the GOAT
if the show wasnt so mid i wouldnt have dropped it 😭😭😭
That show is not "mediocre anime at best". I think it is one of the best "slice of life" anime and has a better take on chunibyo than KyoAni's Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions.
The main character is more like Okabe from Steins;Gate. They both worn out of Chunibyo mostly, but just keeping it to bring joy to the group of mates and sometimes protecting them by it.
@@ndyKong The sad thing about the comparison between Inou Battle and Chuunibyou is one of them have KyoAni's visuals backing it. Not to mention it's also hard that to people that only do the 3-episode rule Inou would definitely feel generic since the greatness of the anime is backloaded.
I feel like barring one or two moments Trigger played it tooo safe with the animation and that didn't help, especially when that's their strong suit
7:05 Saori Hayami’s voice acting in this scene was amazing, her delivery made this the best moment in the series.
It comes out of nowhere and was absolutely iconic
Legit got chills when we got to it. I haven't heard that in so long
I didn't even remember that I had seen the show, but I certainly remember that scene.
@@Master10k2 Before I even heard about the show, people recommended that very scene to me
And that performance is from 2014. Which is almost 9 years old.
I remember seeing that supernatural battles clip, raw, and out of context on tumblr forever ago and it literally made my jaw drop. I think I had just recently started watching anime and the raw emotion in that performance just took my breath away. Unfortunately the person who posted it hadn't put the title of the anime so I couldn't find it until I randomly saw it with a friend years later, and I recognized that character from the monologue almost instantly
Aku No Hana/Flowers of Evil is one of my favourite manga of all time and I adore the vision and direction of the anime so much, so I'm really happy to see it just get it's own segment dedicated to it and acknowledged in such an amazing way by Gigguk. I am very grateful. It's crazy to think that the next episode has an equally amazing scene of actual 6 minutes of the characters in silence, walking back home as a gorgeous ambient track plays. It's truly something else.
The six minutes of silent walking are like the other half of that scene. It's both together that make look back on it as an amazing anime.
@@Necrapocalypse Personally did not make it to episode 6. I had finished the manga and the art style of the anime really did not click with me. In the focus it was fine if a bit strange but in the background details popped in and out wildly. Personally what stuck with me is the ending song. I could no tell you what the opening sounded like but the ending knocked it out of the park so much that in the ten years I have not had a more terrifying song. In the first episode when the voice picks up you know you are in for some real horror not the kiddy stuff. Just looked up the opening and it is fine and the ending is not super special out of context but it ties in so very nicely in the first few episodes. The whole thing reminded me of scums wish. Just less funny and more scary. :)
Aku no Hana was weird, and it captivated me by it's weirdness so that I went on to read the manga after it ended.
Whew, that was over fast. I'm so glad Hayami Saori's monologue got a highlight. It's a fun little show, but that rant and her delivery is just the definition of "hits different."
Yes, please, please, PLEASE 🙏 Keep making these kinds of videos! I love catching these moments of perspective for anime’s that I haven’t had a chance to watch yet and gives me reason to pursue watching them so I can have that same kind of feeling or clarity.
I'm glad you included that voice acting scene from my favorite voice actor in When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace. That's been my favorite voice acting scene ever since I saw it the first time, I always refer to it whenever I'm thinking of good voice acting in anime.
One anime moment I always come back to is episode 5 of Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. This entire situation the characters are in, the grieve they feel and how they handle it on their own culminates in this confrontation near the bath house.
It's such an incredicle moment of two people sharing their hurt and grieving together that you wouldn't expect what nowadays could be seen as "yet anothet isekai".
This scene lives rent-free in my head.
I love Grimgar, the tone really sets itself apart. There's a few moments that really stick with me. It's the first anime that made me track down the light novel.
it stuck with me as well, so many parts of that show hit differently than other isekai. it was gutwrenching
@@WateryStar same for me. I don't read LN but I made an exeption for this one. It's unfortunate that the author lets the story meander in such a way that doesn't allow any tied ends to big mysteries. So after 12 volumes I dropped it.
Nevertheless, the anime is still a unique experience and holds up really well.
for me it was land of the lustrous
its the most beautifully tragic masterpiece i have ever come across. As someone who looks for beauty and meaning in small and subtle things, this series has not left my mind since the first day i watched it and i kept rewatching it over and over again and each time i found something new
to me this was just pure beauty and emotion given form materialized and i have never been more glad to understand something more than this series
We need season 2
We really need season 2
@@joshknight5531 im not dying till i see season 2 being made
The one that recently gave me these moments is 86, many scenes in 86. Also, I haven't watched A place further than the universe, but it somehow hit me while watching this video. I just came back from Japan, and I don't know, it just reminded of my trip. It was my first visit to Japan, also went to visit my brother, and that trip felt more than a vacation, it felt like I was at home and roaming free, and this video made me feel that.
Awesome video! I'd certainly enjoy more of this.
I can totally see why you get emotional in that scene on A Place Further Than The Universe. I sometimes get emotional for seemingly no reason in some Anime as well, even when there's no sadness or anything involved.
The most emotional scene I can remember is episode 12 from Kono Oto Tomare Season 2.
It feels like every emotion built up throughout the whole first and second season comes out together in the last song they play together, it literally feels the whole two seasons were made for that only one episode, as everyone's background, ideas, emotions, wishes, everything, mesh together in the song they play together.
It always gets me whenever I rewatch it. It is 8 straight minutes of you not even knowing what hit you, after it finishes you are just there existing lol
music anime are amazing. and after i discovered that koto existed, this anime was perfect. i wish they make more, more good music anime with classic asiatic instruments
Speaking of VA performances. The Spider Iseaki adaption was all over the place. But what kept me coming back was Aoi Yuuki's incredible performance. From the Opening and Ending to everything in between. She carried hard.
A place further than the universe always hits different. Like that exact feeling like ur crying just...cos it's nostalgic or ur so happy or u recognize the moment that this is....that anime was just so wonderful. Now don't get me wrong I also loud cry watching it during the sad parts too...but ugh that scene came on as soon as u started talking about it and i was like tearing up again! it's such a good anime. TAT (or maybe i'm just a crybaby)
19:12 A place further than the universe is still one of my top favorite series. And it actually pushed me to do things I wouldn't normally do.
The last scene from Vinland Saga season 1 where Thorfinn is screaming at Askeladd not to die is one of the best scenes in anime. The raw emotion that is both drawn and voiced gives me chills every time. Askeladd's carefree tone of voice contradicts Thorfinn's screaming to a perfect blend of emotion. Seeing everything Thorfinn has worked up to for the whole show thus far being ripped away from him just for it to hint at what's to come by Askeladd asking him what his purpose will be after he's dead. And him dropping the knife and his life flashes before his eyes is the perfect ending to the season. Such a good show all around but that scene is a masterpiece.
The reflection of the entire season in the knife is one of my favorite moments in all of anime. Getting hit with the emotions of an entire season while the score swells up is just perfect.
For me personally, steins;gate had me the most speechless by far. The roller coaster of emotions you go through throughout the entire story just leaves you with a satisfying ending but also with “what ifs” in your head.
i only felt one emotion , boredom.
I'd recommend playing the VN if you haven't. Stories almost exactly the same (except a couple scenes that got cut), but the various bad endings go through some of those what if scenarios and it can delve into the science of everything a lot more since it's a novel.
The VA for Okabe is superb ong
I love the feeling of being in motion and that scene from a place further than the universe gives me that feeling. It's weird for me to feel it from a scene, usually it's music but this anime is really special.
13:53 the fact that this is the most replayed part of the video cracks me up
what hits so hard about inou battle in that particular scene is despite the fact that she goes on and on about how much she doesn't understand anything he's ever said, she still goes on and on about all the things he has said. she never stopped listening and trying to understand him. sure it's all nonsense to her but it means enough to him that she took the time to not only remember it all but tried to understand it. the show was a typical harem setup where you know only one girl can win in the end but truly none of the others really had a chance. and that's saying something considering she wasn't even my favorite of the lot.
Scenes like Thorfinn reaching out to Askeladd after dropping his sword or when the peopple inside the wall rose cheered for the survey corps and then also the one moment where Rudeus steps out in search of his lost mother after shaking off his past for once and for all man all of them still make me cry like a baby
That moment for me was 86 episode 22. That scene with Shin finally seeing Lena alive and her giving that whole speech with that beautiful music playing.
The clip from place further than universe was so touching. Once me and my friend walking when I spontaneously just told my friend let's run and our whole friend group started running (Except the one stuck up guy that didn't. Why didn't he run still baffles me) So for me it was reminder of my own memory and made me kinda emotional. Gonna watch the whole series.
Honestly, my favorite example of powerful English voice acting comes from an abridged series lol. SAO Abridged was always fun, but my god Suguha’s voice actress kills it in the most recent episode (episode 17, I think) during that scene where they figure out they’ve been playing together. It’s just such a raw performance on her part
Yeah that actually was really good.
just watched it. it felt too real at some points
Would you recommend it to someone who didn't like SAO...at all? Had issues with how much Kirito Marty stu's the entire plot.
@@Yunglex313from what what I heard it's the go to version for anyone who utterly despises SAO's existence. Give it a shot
@@Yunglex313 If you feel like SAO had some missed potential I think it's worth checking out. It takes a while I feel before the character development starts to be apparent, but the development definitely is there in the abridged series. I feel like Kirito was way too much of a blank character in the original series and the abridged does a good job of remedying that issue
Glad to see opinion has started to turn around on Flowers of Evil, amazing show, love to see a different art style than the norm and for more experimentation with the medium.
A shame people didn't like the animation being entirely a rotoscopy. That's the animation style used, and the reason it looks so out of place compared to other animes.
I need a s2
Recently read the manga of trail of blood, might just give this a try!
What is this song in the background im sure i know it 19:22
It was the anime i was looking forward every week when it aired. I was so hyped especially on episode 7.
I had forgot about this show a place further than the universe and just started watching it because of this scene. This really does call back to the days of youth and would highly recommend it. Dammit man now you got me crying... but thank you for the great recommendation. Great videos as always. Keep up the great work!
The running scene from A Place Further Than the Universe hits me every time but not for the reasons you mentioned. For years now I've been struggling with crippling depression. Because of it, I've been feeling my life at a complete standstill and I think the running scene for me was such a cathartic experience I didn't know I needed. Even though Mari was just bored and wanted to make the most of her youth years, a different reason for being stagnant from myself, the journey she took from stagnant to "in motion" just hit me so hard. Pushed me to fight back and force my life into motion. Still in that process but I'll forever be thankful for A Place Further Than the Universe.
You aren't alone gigguk. That running scene made me feel amazing as well
Same here man!
I liked it when a little man ran on the railroad at the bottom of the screen
Yeh i like those scenes of just running carelessly. I have not scene that anime but i can fully understand you. Another similar scene that hits close to me is when in Your Lie in April the childhood friend of protagonist runs
Sora Yori Mo made me tear up almost EVERY EPISODE. There is definitely something to it, it's subtle & touching in ways I can't really put my finger on. Such a journey
Sora Yori is a master class of making you care about people without a single magical facet to them, in an art form where so many can bust planets or cut moons in half.
Through nothing but meaningful and careful attention to their love and passion, their personalities win us over.
that email scene though. I got tears just thinking about it !
I'm starting anime content and I would like to improve, can you tell me what I can do to improve? Thanks
I like the fact that you use the ff13 soundtrack - march of the dreadnoughts for the outro music. I listen to all of the soundtracks frequently and its always nostalgic to listen to. honestly nice to see these being put into vids, too.
Good god, Garnt is the only person who's ever been able to perfectly explain why I love anime SO FUCKING MUCH.
The feelings it gives you and the moments it shows you are something that no other medium is able to match. A symphony of emotions from something as simple as running to get away from the people you're trying to join up with. Beautiful!
*SPOILER ALERT* The scene that has a long lasting effect on me from A Place Further than the Universe is definitely the moment Shirase opened her mother's laptop. It felt like the reason from all the years of grinding, all the trouble she had to go through and all the amazing things she also gained along the way explained right there, cruel and simple yet one of the most fantastic scenes I can record of. If you read the spoilers and haven't seen the show, GO WATCH IT!
If I ever need a nice, cathartic ugly cry, that's one of my go-to scenes. Such a devastating revelation.
absolute 11/10 show, been my favourite anime of all time ever since i watched it 2 years ago

Man I love that anime so much that I place little eastereggs related to it around in my life. I have my laptop named "SRS-5003" to reference the name of the boat they rode to Antarctica :')
Nah dude you are not alone feeling emotional in that running scene. That scene gets me everytime.
I know this might be a bit cringe but when I went on my first trip with my friends, I rewatched that scene and man, I could feel that scene, the line about how her youth was in motion really hit me. Going outside alone, facing the world and hanging out with my friends, I was making memories right at that moment, my youth was indeed in motion.
You are not cringe man. That show helped me to overcome my fear and make my final decision to study abroad. My youth was also in motion after that.
Ditto.... and I mean, hell, the very few first frames showing up on my screen have turned me into a crying mess in an instant (and, sure, I might be in a vulnerable spot right now and it might contribute to that a lot- but that series has made me cry more times than it ever had the right to back when I watched it anyway, so--).
I think it's because of how uplifting it is. It's sheer, unadulterated *life* in a way few things are and directed flawlessly to show and share that energy. It doesn't make us cry because it's sad or painful or distressting - it makes us cry because it resonates so deeply it's like touching a raw nerve every time, regardless of whether that resonance is due to past experience or thought about the present or the future. It just absolutely *rings*.
That scene is so good, it stuck in my mind. Whenever I find myself running with my girlfriend to catch a train, or a buss, or something, I can't not say "look dear, our youths are in motion" (and yeah, she gets the reference, she also loves the anime).
I can't believe I've actually seen every anime you covered in this video, wow. On top of that, you were completely spot on about them all. Wonderfully done!
Kids on the slope is so amazing!! I definitely need to go back and watch it, it's been way too long. I'm glad you also found it enjoyable as well
For me, it's Spike falling from the church window during the first fight against Vicious, in Cowboy Bebop. The most incredible fall ever, in the history of anime.
Seeing Bocchi poured her heart out with a banging impromptu solo in Episode 8 always makes me tear up with emotions.
Supernatural place becomes commonplace getting recognition from one of my favorite anime UA-camrs got me going back into my memories and remembering and enjoying those scenes are just some bizarre feelings that I didn’t think would’ve happened
bro the kids on the slope scene got the seratonin RUSHING already starting off with a banger
supernatural commonplace, those last few yells rly got me
