    In this video I cover the following topics in Blender:
    1) How to use keyboard shortcut (TAB) and menu to switch between Object Mode and Edit Mode on a selected Mesh object.
    2) The Three sub-object elements of meshes: faces, edges, and vertices.
    3) Extruding (E) faces to create simple ('Minecraft') objects: I demonstrate how to model a chair.
    4) Loop Cut and Slide (ctrl+R): How to create extra Loop Cuts. Loop Cuts add an extra edge-loop around your mesh in the desired location/direction, which allows you to add more detail while modelling.

    Glad all these Blender 2.7 tutorials are still around , because my computer won't run a later version. The other commenter is right these are very good tutorials, no rambling, no trying to impress you, just the facts.

    I've searched and watched many Blender tutes, yet yours really stand out - you teach very well indeed. Most tutorials are actually people just videoing what they are doing with no or little explanation. You tell us what you are doing and more importantly WHY you are doing it. I almost ditched Blender but it has fast become my preferred object building tool thanks to your tutorials. Great work, thanks for putting the time and effort into making these videos.

    Oh my gosh, this tutorial series, perfect! I've been using MIlkshape 3D for donkeys years and just didn't get along with blender. Until now that is, your videos are paced nicely so I'm not falling miles behind. Sweet, sweet Loop Cuts!

    I know this video is old but I just have to say this.
    As someone with a TV next to my desk, I tend to watch a lot of UA-cam on it as I work in Unity/Blender. I cannot express my level of gratitude for when you split the scene to show the toolbar, as over-scanning has always been an issue.
    Seriously, thank you so much.

    Thank you very much for sharing your excellent Tutorials with us. They are on the right Gradient of complexity and speed to be able to follow it through while doing the exercise. Explaining the Shortcut Keys and their usage, explaining terminology, so there is no confusion left. I am new to blender and your Tutorials give me hope, that I will understand this rather complex software and can use it productively for my own projects.

Specifically the "Trainz" series of Train Simulators. Just starting to get my feet wet, but you're making everything that was at first confusing make much more sense! Excellent job!

    I'd like to make people aware to pay attention when you need to extrude and when youre just simply draging. Instead of extruding the garage o was draging so the corners Came with it and it wasnt a clean brick. Also i was selecting one cut on the roof and the roof wasnt full as there are actually 3 cuts on the roof

    Great tutorial series. One comment: you say that you can't scale or rotate a vertex. This is true when the centre of scaling or rotation coincides with your chosen vertex. If, however, you set the centre to e.g. the 3d cursor, then a single vertex can be rotated and scaled relative to the (in this case) 3D cursor.

    Hi! I know i writting very much but when i am in edit mode and then i select faces,vertices or edges and then when i wanna rotate this selected parts, the axes are in the middle of the selected geometry. But i wanna choose rotation center (point, vertice) of selected part(geometry, limb). I do not speak about origin of object. My question about origin of parts of the object. I hope i could able to explain my problem with this perfect(!) English. Thank you very much for these tutorials you are a real teacher.

      You can rotate around your 3d cursor instead of the median point of your selection if you like. There is a pull up menu for this in the header of the 3d view window (at the bottom)

    Awesome tutorial man!
    I'm having an issue with the loop cut. I tried doing the loop cut like you did at 14:25 . But it doesn't loop. The purple line is only shown on the bottom face of the house and garage, and on the side face of the garage. For some reason it skips the top face of the garage, the entire roof, and the other side of the house.
    I'm trying to find solutions on Google but the solutions don't seem to working, or I might be doing them wrong.
    Any idea what's wrong?
    UPDATE: I tried redoing by creating a new Cube. This time everything went just fine. Still wondering what could have caused the problem though. Hopefully some time in the future when I have a little more experience with blender I'll figure it out.

    • @BornCG
      @BornCG  7 років тому +1

      It's because you have N-gons, which are faces with more than 4 sides. These mess up loop cutting. Check out my tutorial #23 on the knife tool for a was of getting around this. :)

    I had a few question, in edit mode, do you have to reset scale to have proper uv scale? with loop cuts, if I wanted to edge loop a certain distance lets say house windows, from each side of the house borders, does the median change this? and for large scenes for imperial units, do I add more lines to grid or change grid scale? and with this being said, the camera scale would scaling down the camera sensor be a good idea since changing the ocean modifier scale messes up the resolution? or would this effect camera display issues when rendering? thanks for your tutorials.

    • @BornCG
      @BornCG  9 років тому +1

      - yes, you should apply the rotation/scale after modeling before you uv map to make sure things aren't stretched.
      -You can change the units of measurement used in blender under the 'Scene' tab in the properties window. You can change units to imperial and metric.

      Please don't mind. I was able to figure it out. Actually, I was pressing 2 in numlock which did not work.

    seems like you rushed this one... no screen cast keys and the chair you were going to improve turned into a house you were going to improve. keep up the good work, this is a good series.
