    I love your way of approaching topics. Before I started watching this series, I was a complete noob in not just Blender, but pretty much 3D Modelling in general. It's not like I'm any less of a beginner now, but I know quite a bit. And that's because of your tutorials. Every single video that I've watched in this series so far has be really beginner-friendly.
    Thanks.

    Note: For Windows anyhow, when browsing Fonts, you can select "Thumbnail View" (to the left of the button up top that says "Normal" and it will then show you a thumbnail preview of each font, instead of just a list of names! Very handy!

      Thank you. It works on Mac, too. Alternatively, Mac has, by default, an app called Font Book, as a font browser.

    Thank you sir .. This tutorial series is very helpful even in 2022. For some reason I had to download an older version of blender so thanks again for your hard work. When I upgrade my software, I hope to watch your newest tutorial of blender too. Your really good at teaching things even it is really complicated.. Wish you all the best... thanks a lot.

    As of Blender 2.75, you can preview fonts by using the thumbnail view :)

    Thanks for another useful tutorial.
    If you're on a Mac, you have an app called Font Book. It's part of OSX.
    Can use that to preview any font on your computer.
    Thanks again.

    Hey! BornCG thenk you for the tutorial they are absolutely great! Just a note regarding texts in non Latin "alphabets" (My two cents):
    I have not found a quick way to type other thing but Latin characters.
    In my case I was trying thinking that this text could be pretty cool for something like Japanese or Chinese but in Windows, you have to change the input mode to IME (or the like) and type it, and it does not work in Blender (the input mode is ignored as far as I know). BUT, I found an easy way to do it. You can of course type what ever in a wordpad or favorite text editor (for example type 言葉) and copy the words. Then in blender chose a font that supports the symbols (ideograms in this case, an example could be meiryo.ttf in windows) and just paste it. Then you can work with it as any other text :)

    Great videos and thank you for uploading. I was wondering if you would be willing to create a tutorial on how to create Curved 3D text ( Curved Text that would go around an circular object like a half sphere ) and a an "Engraving"text effect on a cube from all sides ( Just like a dice but with 3 line text). That would be very helpful. Thank you very much.

    Today's video (Blender 2.7 Tutorial #10 : Intro to Materials and Nodes in Cycles) is being delayed because of EXTREMELY slow internet tonight, and video frame-rate & audio-syncing issues in Premiere earlier today. TWO videos tomorrow! =D

    Beginner here, amazing series, can't thank you enough. I'm having issues with engraving text on a subdivided surface, Boolean distorts the mesh. Any suggestions on videos of yours to watch that might help. (I'm making dice with engraved numbers, like for DnD)

    • @BornCG
      @BornCG  7 років тому

      Distorts the mesh, Or does it just create a mess of triangles and ngons? I'd try the 'knife project tool' next - I have a tutorial on it. It will create an outline of edges (like a precise knife cut) on the surface of an object using another object as a 'cookie cutter' -- you can then extrude the faces you outline inward for the effect you're looking for.

    • @BornCG
      @BornCG  7 років тому

      Personally I just use the Boolean Modifier, then clean up the mesh usingeither 'limited dissolve' and/or the remesh modifier.

    • @ZeEhTeam
      @ZeEhTeam 7 років тому

      whenever I apply the boolean it distorts the face of the object, like triangles are coming over across the part that should be engraved, same thing happens when I try to knife project on a subdivided surface. I did a limited dissolve to fix the mesh of the number but it's still happening.

    Tried to apply the subsurface modifier to text after converting it. Worst idea in Blender I ever had since the infinite array of donuts.

    I dont have "text" option in my add menu.. Using 2.79

    • @BornCG
      @BornCG  4 роки тому

      If you're in edit mode of a mesh or some mode other than object mode, you won't see add - text. Otherwise it's definitely still in 2.79.

      The term you're looking for is render. Once you render (draw) a frame, you can save the image using the menu below the image. Press f12 or the render button to render.
