    1) Navigate (zoom/orbit/pan) in a 3D environment
    2) Select, Move, Rotate and Scale Objects using keyboarding shortcuts and the Gizmo
    3) Add Objects (meshes) to the Scene.

for an absolute beginner, there is no better tutorial series on UA-cam than this. I've seen other tutorial videos where the tutor will ramble and mutter and introduce various asides ("don't do this, I'm just showing you"), then undo it all to get back on track, and then suddenly click a dozen things in rapid succession without clearly explaining what just happened. Usually you can figure out what happened by re-watching the sequence several times, but BornCG does none of that. Every keystroke and mouse click is explained very clearly in a linear fashion from beginning to end.
That said, it doesn't hurt to follow other tutorials too: There are many different ways to achieve a desired result and it's useful to see how different tutors do it, but again, if you're new to 3d modeling then BornGC's tutorials are certainly the best place to start.
Great stuff. +1 with 3d knobs on.

This is a really nice tutorial. Just sent the playlist to a friend and hes enjoying it. For anyone who's using blender on a laptop without a mouse and simply cant get one, don't sweat what he mentioned in the video though. I learned blender around 5 years ago and used the trackpad almost exclusively for about 3 and 1/2 years until I got a mouse. It's weird to get used to for a few minutes but something that isn't mentioned is that blender has an option in the "User Preferences" under "Input" on the left-hand side called "Emulate 3 Button mouse" that allows you to use Alt+Left click to rotate your view, Shift+Left click to pan and CTRL+Left click to zoom. It takes a few minutes to get used to but all in all its incredibly easy to work with and becomes muscle memory after working in the program for a bit. Now if you DO have access to a mouse then by all means use it, but if not, then don't worry, the trackpad will work just as well.(Also in your windows settings I recommend turning up the mouse movement speed because this will make blender much more responsive on the trackpad and you wont need to readjust your finger every 2 seconds to move around) Also for those who don't have a number pad on their laptops, I highly recommend turning on "Emulate Numpad" under the "Input" tab as well. This allows you to use crucial functions such as front, side, and top view (1,3, and 7 respectively) and will make working in the program substantially easier.

BornCG: Thank you for the tutorials. For the persons have laptop, they might zoom in using (+) on keypad, or zoom out using (-), you might zoom directly by using (.) key in the keypad. If not having keypad, it is a must to have a mouse, even there is a way around it in the preferences.

Thanks for this great tutorial. About the magic mouse, I would say it's a great tool for working with Blender. You can orbit just moving your finger on it in any direction in a very natural way, you can pan the same way while pressing shift key, and same thing works for zooming in and out just pressing cmd at the same time.
No need for a scrolling/button wheel.

Very good video series! It is not too fast nor the videos to long for those just beginning and those of us, who know a little but are ready to take the next step .
I like it that you don't assume we know something and explain it, which makes this great for young and old alike. I get really tired of beginner videos that assume you know it all or don't explain why they are doing something. If I knew all that, I wouldn't be watching durn videos if I already knew how.
Thank you and keep up the great work. I will continue to recommend this series to those wishing to learn about Blender.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but to transform/scale/rotate an object along a specific axis using the keyboard shortcut, you simply hit the operation key (g, s or r) followed by the axis (x, y or z), and then, when you move the mouse, it will work along that axis only.

If anyone is using a Laptop like me and is using Blender 2.77 here are some keys you can use if you do not have a moues.
hold Ctrl (+) to zoom in and
    Ctrl (-) to zoom out
as for Roteing and moving the up and down on the screen
go into File/ User prefences. a box will pop up click on the IMPUT tab and check off emulate 3 button mouse. save the changes and then close the box.
you should now be able to use these buttons in the editor if the buttons dont work right away close and reopen blender and it should work for you :)
    ALT + Click to rotate
ALT + SHIFT + CLICK to move
tho its a bit awkward to use it this way it works but I would recommend using a mouse so you don't hurts your hand in the long run ^_^

I really liked this tutorials because it's very simple ,yet full of information. Blender cookies tutorials which i watched before.(only 6 episodes i think) tried to compress the information which made it hard to memorize. You are making a tutorial on alot of the features which is helpful because. blender cookies put a tutorial on modeling and when it ended i was confused so this is a massive improvement over blender cookies( which is getting outdated) tutorials

    Many Thanks. Very useful tutorial.
Your tip about where to place the cursor prior to scaling (@ about 10:00) helped a lot. I'd been feeling that some of my scaling was acting weird, without realising the reason.
Just to add, if we want to restrict scaling to a specific direction, without using the scaling gizmo, we can just enter the appropriate axis. So, S for scale, followed by X,Y or Z to constrain scaling to that direction.
    Thanks again.
