Had the opportunity to see this show at the Marion, Ohio show. For the encore, I had my 9 and 6 year old daughters sit on the railing, right in front of that brass line. While they are now 28 and 25 now, they strangely never grew another inch after that.
I get chills every time I hear how clean those sixteenths are at 3:49. This was the year I got into drum corps; wish I'd gotten to see shows in the late '90s.
Any chance you (or someone you know) has a copy of that '97 Charlotte show? Rookie lead mellophone that year, and that show has become an SCV legend! Cheers! - Joe P. (SCVC '92-'95, SCV '97-'00)
Long shot replying so many years later. Do you still have this and if so would you mind sharing it with SCV? The performance that night was one of the organizations best ever and many alumni have been searching for a documentation (video or audio) for decades now.
Is it On the Waterfront that some of this music is from? Saw it on BBC2 at Stupid O'Clock one night & I thought "I recognise that bit of music"! 😉 Don't know what the rest of the show is from, though. Could somebody tell me please?
Love these shows. SCVs guard never matched the intensity of the music until 2000. It’s like the rest of the corps had a comeback in ‘97 but the cg was left behind.

Still my favorite SCV show I think. Never got to see this one in person. Great writing all around.
thanks for posting this, the video quality is great. I miss marching that show. It kicked my butt so bad, but it was an amazing rush to perform.
I was marching DCA and saw it live at some point. I told my buddies, "SCV is back, you guys"
9:21 Probably still my favorite closer of all time.
I miss those G horns.
ShootAndSpin no you don't
i sure af do too.
Saw them in Charlotte that year. It's my favorite SCV opener. Just loved the power and intensity.

@@joeperez9845 I sure don't. Sorry! I wish I did.
This recording sounds better than DCI's cds. What a shame. Maybe my favorite year of dci too =(
What a great show.
I was at that Charlotte show in '97! Pure magic! Just amazing!
love this show
4:18 - 4:22 = Best Mello run EVER!!!!
Just 3 short years before the instrument apocalypse.
I have a bootleg audio I took personally from 97 charlotte from the second row. Amazing performance and reaction that night.

@neetsac Wow, I marched that show. I would really love to hear that.

Isn't that the same show where Don Freund talked to us after the show? ;o

DAAAAMN why you gotta come for April Lewis so hard??
Yeah and then 2000 hit and they didn’t medal for 18 years
4, but yes
Who was their brass caption head that year? They sound really good.
Dean Westman
@@SDdrummingTV Ahhh. Makes total sense now. I didn't know he was ever at SCV.
He came over to SCV in 96.
